#4347 My second venture outside the reserve this afternoon and I found myself extremely close to a live wire a couple of times while trying to ride down the fenceline. Eventually had to leave the bike behind for the last 30-40 metres.Once there a short search revealed the cache. Logged and retraced my trail to return via the same gate to the sanctuary. TFTC.
Found the cache and contents scattered not far from GZ. Put back together and returned to GZ. Loverly spot. TFTC

Making the most of enjoying what's left of a short lived summer and rapidly diminishing daylight saving to make some finds. Many have been on my solved pile for some time and with prolonged work commitments due to COVID I've just not had the spare time to do much caching at all as I've been working such long hours.
Consequently nor have I been on my favourite eMTB for many weeks, or to my favourite Namadgi for lots of bushwalks over the summer months. So having to make do squeezing in some urban caching for a quick walk here and there, or even more conveniently drive by caching. Caching is caching right, and thank goodness it comes in so many forms to suit practically every occasion life throws at us.
Out in the Goo with Marmaduke Rothschild for some eMTB therapy today.
And so it goes, just happy to pick up caches such as this one. Thanks to StrangeTrousers for putting out and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment!

Nice to walk with Jemalong&family again After eased restrictions. Lovely little walk and a great area TFTC
Finally got this cache today on my 2hr walk. Finally able to walk with my caching buddy sophiescout thanks to the rules allowing up to 5 people to do outdoor excersise together. All covid 19 rules were adhered to the entire time. Saw no one the entire time. TFTC
A return visit to the 'Roo to collect the caches on the other side of the Geocacher-proof fence, which are now a bit more of a walk than they used to be! Fantastic day for a ramble in the reserve, had my reptile-dissuading boots & gaiters on as the grass and Paterson's Curse is about 1m high along most of this off-track walk.
I parked at the usual spot off Horse Park Drive and entered through the gate in the maximum-security fence, then exited through the next gate shortly after and spent most of the day off-track. I walked to this cache from the (not really nearby) Grand Old Duke of York, more or less paralleling the Geocacher-proof fence.
The cache is in great, dry condition - it's been just over 4 months since this was last logged. Fantastic to walk along here without seeing other people; loved the treasure. Now up the hill...
Thanks strangetrousers - a great location.

Found this cache today with a group of Canberrans :> We signed the logs as Capital Cachers or CC. It was a good day and even though we didn't pickup all of the ones we had previously identified as wanting to get, we did pick up some others so most people were still happy with the find count. Done and done. TFTC.
Glad to finally pick this up. It’s on the other side of the fence so had to leave it last time.
Out and about with Capital Crunchers on a pretty chilly day. But at least it stopped raining.. TFTC StrangeTrousers

Out caching with a great group of friends. We have a plan to conquer many of the caches in Goorooyarroo . The rain has gone but it is a wicked wind. Thanks for your company Capital Crunchers and thanks to the COs.
Quick find on a long walk and climb finding puzzles that we have solved. Logged as part of Capital Crunchers. Tftc
DAMN!!! Had made this one to be my 500rh cache - wish I’d read the activity logs will ha e to come back after I read over from shoulder injury
We do so love a Challenge cache, and so even before we arrived in Australia we had been looking forward to coming to find the Challenge caches in this area, and so this afternoon we hiked along another section of the Centenary Trail, caching our way towards our main targets. Once we had found the two furthest away Challenge caches (this being one of them) we set off towards the Trig Point with the idea of hiking a geocaching circuit. It would have been a good plan but we were thwarted by a very tall electric ️ fence (the other fences we climbed over), where at one point the only way through to the side we needed to be on was by crawling under the fence via a gated culvert. Due to the electric fence we had to skip a couple of the caches we had hoped to find on the way back down, but at least we did find a way in to access the last of the four Challenge caches of the area. All in all it was a very successful afternoons hike, albeit definitely made harder than expected due to the anti-geocaching fence! We hiked down the hill from Old Joe towards Ground Zero for this one, which was then soon located. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe
Found with BillHill531 and my sons on a short geocaching holiday to Canberra.
Our second day in Canberra: A huge walk, some rare combos & attributes, a lot of challenges, a sprained ankle and an event.
This was on our shortlist for the rare snowshoes attribute. Unfortunately there is a big fence blocking the last fifty meters. Fortunately there is a drain point to crawl through. Very fun. Nice treasure. In the obvious spot.
Thanks for the rare attribute and cache!

Found with TOMBi! and sons doing a short trip/stay to Canberra to start of the new year and get a new state. We managed 41 find, 4 DNF's and 1 event. Found quickly, bit tricky getting there. TFTC StrangeTrousers

An excellent day's caching led by Kambahkid. 15 the total for me, as I'd done a few before. Agree with his comments about the geocacher-proof fence. I'm trying to obtain a gpx file of the perimeter and gate locations to share. TFTC.
A lovely Saturday afternoon for geocaching and a good chance to knock off pretty much the last of my unfound caches in Goorooyaroo.
The new predator proof fence creates a new dimension to wandering the hills in here. Coming from Hoover's Halfway Hike I ended up on the wrong side of the fence. A new culvert made a convenient, if somewhat cramped and dirty, way through to the other side. From there, an easy find at GZ was made and my return journey commenced. TFTC

This was found on a day out with Touchstone7. Some of the caches she'd already found, some were new to her too. I've been slack in logging the caches, but thought I should finally log them given it's 3/4 way through 2018. The views from the hills were amazing, and today we saw a fire from (we think) Mitchell.
We are rich I screamed and then the sky darkened and the ground shook. Dam a curse! Back to work next year I guess.
When you get off work early... Go geocaching!!
Nice sunny afternoon with runner5ive

I've come out today to grab some exercise and was pleasantly surprised by the views. It's amazing how quickly the landscape has changed with a bit of warmth.
This is the eighth of my finds today. It took a while to find. Technically it was where I initially considered but got side tracked by the clue and and expectations. I left a skeleton to go with the treasure chest. Tftc

With dty73 we had a very early morning start to see about the CCT from Horsepark drive through to Mulligans with many side trips for other caches along the way. Started out to be a very cold morning not getting much better with the strong and cold wind through most of the day. TFTC strangetrousers, all was found OK here today. Definitely lots of treasure here but the biggest treasure was not having to walk up a hill to get to it, big thanks for that!
Aquilus1 and I decided to finish the last of the CCT Trail we had left.
I liked this one. There is lots of treasure, which we left, fearing the 'roo pirate curse that might haunt us if we took it. They say that if you take his treasure and don't swap it for something else worthwhile, you will be cursed to be inflicted with "cache blindness" FOREVER!!! Also loved that there was no steep climb up a hill to this one! TFTC strangetrousers!!!

Another easy find for the GeoKids, only because it wasnt hidden, was out in the open, have hidden it again so not visible.
It feels like ages since we’ve done a nice long caching run, so we headed out to Goorooyarroo Nature Reserve to find some of the Canberra Centenary Trail caches. We had to leave The Woofer at home, which is a shame - she would have loved wandering the track with us! We found 38 of 38 in just over 4 hours - even made it to the border of NSW. Not a bad effort! We had a great morning, and left goodies behind wherever possible.
Yay - a cache with stuff in it!! Chris loves caching for the thrill of the find, but Saf is all about what's inside. So this one didn't disappoint. Lots of lovely shiny things! We didn't take anything, but added some treasures to the stash. TFTC!

The CCT trail seemed a bit boring so we decided to take a detour What a great idea as we could find this treasure.
Thank you

After two geocaching plans fell through today (one of them my fault for thinking biking in the Goo at 0 degrees in fog was a good idea) I decided to take matters into my own hands and do some walking in the Goo instead. The plan is six caches - lets see how I go!
Second of the afternoon. Not too tricky to find, tried to hide better than I found it!
Thanks StrangeTrousers for the cache!

10472 and 22nd of 41 found today.
Mr Winglen found this one mostly uncovered and was enticed into hiding it a lot better by Mrs Winglen. Lots of walking and talking today on a very pleasant jaunt into our northern bits.
Thanks for the cache StrangeTrousers and the surprised Jeff.

One of over thirty finds for today out walking with McPhan - a mix of traditionals and puzzles. This one was completely exposed as we approached - very visible. We left it a bit better hidden but the spot was difficult to cover over. Thanks strangetrousers.
Picked this up on a short stint in the Goo and Mulligan's Flat. It's a great spot to get away from work stuff, which consumed most of my day...and on a Public Holiday, too. TFTC StrangeTrousers
Dropped by after finding Hoover's Halfway to check on this one. All good.
Left a TB.

I had poor GPS reception today and almost gave up on this one. Found it by looking for the best site for a cache. TFTC [8d]
Thanks for cache, didn't know if I wanted to walk that extra few hundred meters from series, but worth it. Tftc.
Knowing we would soon be coming to town we got solving on a few puzzles but due to a variety of reasons did not progress as much as hoped but still had enough for a circuit and suspect we passed by some of the solved ones. At the entry to the park we met the Army who was recovering a vehicle after bogging it yesterday. He asked if we where hunting Pokemons but we said we were on a better hunt. Plenty of Roos around plus a few rabbits darting about. At one stage we came across 3 echidnas. On the way out to the challenge cache we collected a few traditionals. A nice walk and no issues with the hides. TFTC
Glad I managed to make to trek and find the treasure in the 'roo! The nearby creek, dam and river were so peaceful, I really enjoyed the surrounding nature. TFTC
The name of this cache makes so much more sense when you open it up and see what's inside! I was pleasantly surprised and dug through the treasure and wow I found a trackable hidden in there!
It has been there since October 2015 so I think all of the recent finders didn't dig through and realise it was there So it has now been rescued!
Thanks StrangeTrousers. Now to trek up the wrong side of Old Joe.....

Spent a few hours picking off some remaining caches in the area. Started with 'Bruce's Climb' (great views), then across and up to 'Old Joe' (more great views), then down to 'Hunting for Treasure in the roo' (poor old Skip). Heading back to the geomobile picked off 'Dwarf Clan Firebeards' and 'Dwarf Clan Blacklock'. Thanks to all the CO's, a 'great' afternoon. TNLNSL TFTC
Second for the day, it wasn't on my horizon when I set off for higher slopes but I always enjoy not returning the same way I came so I happened to be heading this way. Oooh, look, lots of treasures, was almost fooled by the nearby skull. Took the 2 Pathtags. Nice little spot, thanks for luring me here.

Late for work in order to get a caching fix. The hint really helped me at GZ. I'm so glad it wasn't "rock" . A much easier find than I was expecting when I arrived at GZ. What a peaceful and pretty spot. And I have the whole of the Goo to myself on a work day. Also I swapped pathtags in the field, yaay!

Had the opportunity to pedal in from Horse Park Drive to visit this area for a crack at Section 2 of the Canberra Centenary Trail series. The hunt for treasure in the roo proved too tempting and so it was a cycle detour to the north east that lead to a happy and safe find at GZ. Got back to the bike to be confronted with the dreaded HISS of a puncture. It was then a matter of walking the bike back to the trail head at Horse Park Drive (it was only 1.5km). In the end it was a fun afternoon that revealed 13 caches. Caching is at its peak time at Easter.
Thanks for the fun series StrangeTrousers. Your cache is in a pretty and very relaxing area

After doing some puzzle caches higher up, this one was right on our way out, so I just had to stop and make the find. Love the white guardian, though the other guardians that had build some kind of nest on the cache container.. not so much. Great swaps in there, but having watched Pirates of the Caribbean, I knew the dangers of taking these things. So I just dropped in a couple of pathtags instead.
Thanks StangeTrousers!

The twenty second find of the day. I had planned a big day of caching in Goorooyaroo to pick up the remaining Jackakid caches as well as a few other caches in the area. My goal was to find 31 caches and get my name in another cache. I was doing it on foot, starting at around 10 am and hoping to finish around 1. My first cache was The Zoo at the Goo! by specimenX and I managed to find the waypoints pretty quickly and then was off to GZ. From there, I headed off to Dwarf Clan Blacklocks where I found the cache quickly and then uphill to Burnt Stump Hill, where I found the cache while enjoying the views.
From there, I headed onwards to Dwarf Clan Firebeards and then onto the Jackakid powertrail. I found it each one pretty quickly before arriving at Challenge - 366 Consecutive Days where I signed the log in the hope of finally fulfilling the challenge requirement. After that, I headed uphill again and collected Dwarf Clan Stiffbeards and Dwarf Clan Broadbeams. After that, I was back on the Jackakid powertrail until the most northern cache in the series.
After knocking off most of the Jackakid series, I continued onward to Lightning Bolt Attractor. From there, I headed back toward Old Joe, collecting Slightly off the beaten track on the way. It was quite a climb up Old Joe hill, I guess that is reason why my marathon loving friend loves this hill! I headed down hill from there and then onto Zygon Inversion and Hunting for Treasure in the 'roo before finishing up with It burns after 2359, Dwarf Clan Longbeards and the remainder of the Jackakid series.
After finishing up in Goorooyaroo, my dad and I drove to Gungahlin Pond to collect the higher terrain caches and my second new D/T point for the day. I collected MisTREEvous first and then hit the lake to collect both Capital Paddle caches. It took a bit longer than I expected as the boat was quite slow. It was also tough trying to manoeuvre the boat into a good spot to collect Capital Paddle #1.
Thanks to all the cachers who hid caches that I found, it was an enjoyable day on the trails!

TuarusSix and I walked into this area to find some caches this was one of them. While there I dropped a big smiley.
Did a long walk today (didn't have a bike with me) to do some caches in this reserve. Being from far out of area I didn't know what to expect, but thoroughly enjoyed the area and the caches!

We came down from Old Joe and were very glad we hadn't tackled the pair the other way around; I don't think we would have made it up that gradient! This was an easy find in a lovely spot before hitting the easy trails back to the car. Thanks StrangeTrousers
I was in the area finishing a series and decided to get this one while I was at it. Thanks StrangeTrousers. I left a TB
Out for a walk and a run on this beautiful reserve. It was a great finding treasure. I've always wanted to find a pirates treasure chest and today was my lucky day. Being good cachers, we admired the loot and left it to be found by someone else again. Thanks for this lovely and novel case. A great location with a lot of water nearby at the moment

A nice little spot under the hill. A little boggy crossing the creek, but still OK. Tree nearby dropped a branch behind me! (but not close). Nice to find a decent sized cache here. Added one of my new swaps to the treasure.

The plan had been to head into Goorooyaroo area with Noikmeister and Takibi today but as we got close we decided that before heading into the bush we needed a coffee stop....and seriously if you need a coffee stop you need to go to Hawker.... So we spent the good weather hours in and out of the car and then arrived at Goorooyaroo in time for the rain. But being on a mission we plodded along. Thankfully we didn't really get too cold even though at one point we were all definitely wet, but able to laugh about it. I hadn't been to this area before so even in the wet was glad of the opportunity. Spotted this one from a distance...which surprised me given how blind I usually am (Bat remember...not supposed to be able to see well).
lol gps said I was still 12 m away nice to see a lovely full cache so glad it's stopped raining
Found at 3:01:00 PM with BatgirlandCo and Takibi
We were out for a day of caching to boost our numbers for an upcoming milestone. It was a nice walk up to this one. I found it to be 12 metres out with 3 metre accuracy. I've attached the coordinates from my GPS to this log.

A lovely sunny day meant I was off for a geomission in the 'Goo to collect the VC series and a couple of others after that
After completing the VC series and the "lightning bolt attractor" at the very end of the trail, this one was also on the radar-so I was off for the hike to nab this one on the way back to the car.
Saw lots of wallabies and 'roos along the way. Once at GZ the GPS was a little jumpy but I managed to come up with the find easily enough near a strategically placed roo skull. Lovely little frog pond nearby! As I was signing the log, I looked up to see a mob of about 30 roos hop right past me and stop nearby! I didn't hear them as I had my headphones in to listen to the radio. They looked lovely in the light of the late afternoon sun before they all hopped off on their way .
Signed log and dropped a GC & TB before replacing and setting off back to he car to finish a lovely afternoon of caching
Thanks for the hide at this lovely little spot, StrangeTrousers-fave from me

Found on a lovely morning at the end of the holidays. While getting the JackaKid caches, we walked from the path towards this cache. It was lovely to walk through the paddock towards GZ. Once we got there, it was a very quick find. Cool contents, but alas, TNLNSL. TFTC StrangeTrousers!

Sunday 17 May 2015 - another superb autumn afternoon in the high teens with a glorious blue sky. Found four caches over a 6.5 km brisk walk. Quick and easy find. Thx p2p. TFTC.
We took the opportunity to grab a couple of caches and we're lucky enough to have a cooler day today with a little bit of rain. We took our bikes with we rode and ended up pushing some parts along the way, burn those Easter eggs off I'd say. The views a pritty cool. TFTC.

I'd been eyeing up these hills for a while now, and this morning was the perfect opportunity; clear skies and no wind. I'd been eyeing up these hills for a while now, and this morning was the perfect opportunity; clear skies and no wind. My mission was to cycle this stretch of the centennial trail and find a few caches along the way. I chose this one as my first stop. Quickly found - my what a treasure. Exchanged some booty and then moved onwards and upwards. TFTC.
Came looking for this one a couple of months back but was beaten by a smell of putrefying flèche and a huge mob of flies. Different story today, Mother Nature had done her work and there was no smell but the reason was apparent - a skull and long thigh bone at the GZ.
I noted in other logs the coords were likely. A it out so I sat down and prepared to try to tune in and then I saw it. Signed the log and did the duty and yes my GPS made it 13 m out.

After picking up the challenge cache which was my goal today, I saw this one on the GPS. Hmmm do I, don't I, do I don't I..... I had just done 2 on the hill climb, so the ankle was feeling a little sore, but I decided to make the 500m each way detour to collect this one.
I took my time and enjoyed the scenery along the way. Once at GZ, I quickly had the cache in hand. Signed log and replaced the cache in the hide location.
Thanks for the cache placement strangetrousers

If there's one thing the movies have taught me it's never take Aztec gold! An impressive haul to say the least. Beautiful spot, very peaceful. TNLN TFTC!
9168 + 1025 = 10193. Found on a warm afternoon walk today...
Its been a while since I was out this way. Wanting a nice walk this afternoon I picked this one. A familiar track until the last 450-ish m and then a quick search around GZ for the cache. A bit out but easily spotted. Signed, admired the considerable treasure inside, returned and headed home. Glad I wasn't tackling Old Joe today !
Thanks strangetrousers !!

We decided to go out for a wander today and clean up this area again. Lovely day for a stroll besides the local magpie at the beginning of our walk who didn't seem to like company at all. Once we passed him it was smooth sailing.

#2664 - 17:50; I had completed a mission on Mt Majura to clear the last four caches I had over there and had finished earlier than I'd anticipated. I'd also qualified to log the 'Challenge - 366 Consecutive Days' cache while I was in Sydney yesterday, so the temptation to stop became too great. Probably chose the furthest of the two parking options, but I followed the trail until I was a few hundred metres from GZ when I headed cross country. Once at GZ, the coords were a bit out, but I took a look around and the geosenses were working still, and the cache was spotted. Log signed, cache replaced and I was off to find the challenge cache. Back to another Friday after work and I had a walk on the reserve for the challenge cache on my plan. I was distracted by two caches, but managed to not notice the second new one, oh well. A nice walk. There was no problems getting to this one as its hidey hole was pretty clear. Thanks.

Having met SDL earlier today, and coincidently both of us having bikes, we decided to do the two new caches around here! This one was along a new path for me! (Always like finding new paths)! Once at GZ, it took a few minutes to find, as it seems the coords are about 10m out... Nice spot, lovely ride, thanks ST!
