A rare day with no work and no plans… So Blkthunder and I headed out on a country drive…

Heading south, the initial plan was abandoned soon after leaving home, so a small change sees us heading towards Christmas Creek, Lamington and Chinghee Creek…

The cache has definitely seen better days… the logs is unusable, so we added a new double bagged log before returning everything as found…

Thanks Hot Wheels Duo

This one took me a while, it was fairly covered as the old Silky Oak had shedded a few leaves lately. Poor thing must be struggling with the dry. But eventually I had my hands on the merchandise and the log was signed. It was a little bit damp, and the swag was pretty rusty but I was still able to make my mark on the logbook. Been over a year since this one was found! Thanks Hot Wheels Duo!

After attending the Stinson 80th Anniversary event at Christmas Creek, it seemed only natural to pick up a few smilies while in the area and along the way back home Big Grin. Nice quick find here, at the location described in the title.

This cache is in good condition, and makes smilie #3273. Thanks **Hot Wheels Duo** for bringing us here. Feel free to discover our trackable TGQNRV .

After the Stinson Event it was time to go caching - with a full yummy tummy.

I had a minor technical glitch where my data for the caches down this Valley got corrupted.
So with no description, hints or logs I hit the trail.

Stinson Weekend! Today is the Westray grave site walk in the morning and some afternoon caching as well. We found thirteen caches yesterday afternoon on our way to the camping grounds (although we are taking in more of the comfort of a cabin!)

On the afternoon of the second of our three days, we headed up Chingee Creek Road in search of the nine traditional geocaches there. Another quick drive by cache in the country - thankfully the heavy vines have died so the cache was easy to locate.

Log signed & replaced again. Found at 4.30pm on 18th February 2017. TFTC, Hot Wheels Duo.

The one of a few trees that I can confidently remember their botanical name is the Silky Oak. "grevillea robusta". I love these trees very much and they look so stunning when in full bloom. Cache was in the obvious spot! This one had a lovely lot of swaps that the kids enjoyed trading. Left a TB. TFTC.

Out with the CO, monkey maker and Just a Trifle while the CO was hiding new caches. She was kind enough to stop by this one for us to sign.

Thanks HWD

02-Oct-15
Second last stop on a tour of the area with the CO this afternoon. It was darkish by the time we got here so the smart phone light came in handy. Humbug was being a little girl about walking in the grass so Mrs Just a Trifle had to man up. We all gathered around and added our names while the CO watched on.
Being driven around a beautiful country side by the CO while finding her caches and enjoying a coldie in the back seat is a real pleasure I must say.
Thanx again HWD

We were in the area to attend the "Christmas Creek - the Stinson Weekend" Event and with our campsite all set up, we thought we had finished for the day and were sitting around chatting when Hot Wheels Duo announced she had to go out to place a few new caches for the event and asked who wanted to go along with her. Well Mrs Just a Trifle didn't need to be asked twice and along with Monkey Maker and dahumbug, she headed off for a bit of caching along the way.

It was time for Mrs Just a Trifle to do some of the work to find a cache, but it didn't take long and with our names in the log book, we were soon on our way again, getting ever so much closer to the campsite again.

Thank you Hot Wheels Duo for having placed the cache for everyone to find.

This cache contains the cutest pencil I have ever seen.
Thanks Hot Wheels Duo.

Smilie #2688

A trip south was overdue so we thought today we'd hit the Christmas Creek Kerry area and, hopefully, pick up some extra smilies.

As we approached a young kangaroo hopped of the verge & into the undergrowth, right next to a silky oak!
Taking this as an omen we headed towards the spot to realise GZ was actually in the opposite direction! LOL ...
How easily we are distracted by nature. Smile
Retraced our steps & made a quick find, in the right spot this time.

Taking the new geo-mobile for a bit of a drive in the country. After a wander to J G Westray's grave I was now heading home.

"Just a few more" found me heading up this road. After a quick stop the cache was in hand, the view was admired and I was on my way.

Thanks for the cache HotWheelsDuo.

Cheers!!

Out for the day with K8'n'Co, Curare63, T-Tech, IolantheK, Selva Girls, Mnance, Waimak and Brother Colin. Waimak was kind enough to be the taxi for half of us. We were all in the area for a long weekend event so we had plenty of time to cache. Beautiful day and we all had a lot of fun in this lovely area. 6031 for us. Thank you Hot Wheels Duo for placing and maintaining this cache.

A camping weekend at Christmas Creek. Smile A group of cachers were heading out to hike up Running Creek. I joined them for the adventure. We collected the caches along the way. This was the first. With a large group searching for the cache, it didnt take long to find. We all signed the log. the cache was rehidden and we made our way back to the cars and on to the next one

Today I had been part of a group of cachers (Herbz, Mrs Herbz, Bennyboppers, Lisylou, Kay8nCo, and HotWheelsDuo) who had attempted to find Running Creek Falls. It was a lovely and adventurous walk but unfortunately due to the rain, the creek was flowing too fast and too high, and we were therefore unable to get to the falls. On my way home I decided to do a few caches. This one took me a little while. I read a log which said they saw it at the right angle. So I looked at a different angle and spotted it. TFTC HotWheelsDuo!

Today Dannza and I set off for a day of caching. We both have been off the caching radar lately and having withdrawals. Enjoyed the drive up to the cache. Spotted some wallabies. Found the cache safe and dry. TFTC Hot Wheels Duo

We were all happily chatting away when I looked down at my GPS and yelled 50 meters 40 meters 30 meters!! brakes were applied, and a spot to park was found, lucky someone was paying attention Surprised

Crossed the road and peered into the leaves to see a cache staring right back at me!! well! that was easy! Razz

Great part of the world here, thanks hot Wheels Duo

As we crossed the road to this cache Mr. Gap was at the right angle and spotted it pretty quickly. It must have been beautiful to see these Silky Oaks in bloom. TFTC Hot Wheels Duo.

25-Nov-14
The trees are still in flower which was nice to see. After a decent walk this morning I was glad this one was not too far up the embankment Wink

02-Nov-14
The silky oaks were in flower! so beautiful. We have some amazing colours in out natives.

02-Nov-14
Out with another cacher on a maintenance visit (hers not mine) and we had several in this series to claim. The silky oaks are indeed in flower, and in some places make a pleasing picture with the flowering jacarandas. No trouble finding this one. Only muggles encountered all day were cows, wallabies, and a hare.

01-Nov-14
I can say without a doubt that I had no idea these trees were Silky Oaks. We used to have a couple of them along the fence at home and I do not recall them coming out in these yellow flowers ever. In saying that when in flower they are quite stunning, and well if only I had been earlier or later in the day when the sun was not so harsh there would likely have been some photos.

Anyway I made short work of this find and had my name in the log in no time.

Saw this morning that this cache was still unfound so decided to head out this way for a country drive and see if we were lucky enough to grab a couple of FTF's. It seems to be a while since we have been this fortunate. Found a nice clean log and signed as Big Grin FTF Big Grin at 11:24am. Thanks Hot Wheels Duo for these new caches out this way. It's lovely to scatter such beautiful scenery with new caches to bring us here. [^][^] As we were about to drive away a car pulled up behind us and we met a cacher that was a new face to us. Great to meet you CantCacheUs! [^][^]
