1MinnieMoo I found your cache Brookfield Redemption on 14/9/2024, 2:05PM. This is my find 7029 and find # 6 today. On my own, how hard can it be. Managed to fit through the opening and started make my way to the cache with my trusty torch. On and on I went past micro bats and water dragons, surely it's not this far. Kept on going thinking I've gone too far until, what's that. Yes, it's the cache. Crikey that's a long way in. Signed log and headed back out. Had to crawl along on hands and knees, my knees said thank you at the end. If your contemplating doing this bring along some knee guards. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
Had done this cache previously, so was happy to have hatzofff on the log sheet.TFTCache 1MinnieMoo
Today I joined Kolour, Willis007 and chamad on an adventure to find the Brookfield Redemption cache. I met Kolour in Brookfield and we drove together to the trailhead. By the time we arrived chamad had already gone off to find the first cache and by the time we met up with him, he was done, so we continued on our way. Further down the track we met Willis007 who had walked in from the other direction. After finding a few caches on the way we finally arrived at the tunnel and we all dropped our bags and prepared ourselves for the task ahead. I first heard about this cache when elina_maree took my kids caching without me, and they came here because of all the favourite points on the cache. Thankfully she was sensible and didn't allow the kids to crawl all the way under the mountain that day. Obviously I have less sense because I didn't hesitate to follow my friends into the tunnel today. We managed to all walk along the pipe bent over and we shuffled along behind one another. There were squeals from chamad on the way in as he discovered a few creatures in the dark. And there were a few squeals from me on the way out as the woken bats kept flying into my face. The cache was very easy to find and in great condition. Thanks for the cache placement Pigwig2 and for the ongoing maintenance 1MinnieMoo. We all really enjoyed the unique experience of finding this cache!
A small group of 4 got together to tackle a few more caches on this side of the mountain. I had 2 left so met the team here. This was the main target for the day. This was a lot of fun, very glad we sent chamad in first, hearing his squeals at the resident reptiles was very funny! We were happy to see the cache, after signing the log we headed back to the start. Thanks 1MinnieMoo for the cache ... a fav point for this one.
Ive had this one on my to do list for some time and today, with Willis007, BrissyCat and Chamad, we made it. With most of us parking at Jones Rd, we stopped at some other caches along the way (ones that I had already found), met up with Willis007 at Andromeda, who had walked from the top, and made our way to gz - a relatively flat walk which was nice. Dropping packs and leaving my jacket behind as it was hot in there, we donned head torches and squeezed into the tunnel with Chamad leading the way. There were a few squeals when we came across quite large bearded dragons, bats and a cane toad. I was glad to be shorter than the others, so I didnt find the crouched walk along the pipe too bad. But we were all glad to find the cache in a dry area that we could stand in. Logbook signed and replaced as found. On the way out, the bats were flying around as we had disturbed them on the way in, so more squealing - and not just the women! Fp for the fun. Tftc
This morning I was invited along to do Brookfield Redemption with Kolor, Brissy cat and Willis007. It was a nice walk up to the starting point. Along the way we stopped off at three other caches that myself and BrissyCat needed, well, we are going past them. The first was fireflies, a nice cache and the hint did help me for this one. The next was Berocca Gold, a nice old cache and one to which I had a solution to. The portion of the hint did help and we found this one as per directions. The next was andromeda, and another oldish cache which we found without much troubles, but it was tucked in a fair way. All great caches and in good condition. Then came our target cache for the day and a nice back breaking journey along a pipe, lol. There were a couple of shrieks of excitement as I travelled along, lol. The first was a young water dragon of which I put my hand on. The next was a large cane toad, then came two more reptiles, OMGOODNESS, I dislike reptiles. The constant movement of bats did not worry me and the huddled groups of micro bats were cute and not bothered by us. We made our way to the cache and found the container as per directions. We signed the log and replaced all as found then a few pics and then back we went. Thanks for the cache and all good with this one.
Well that was quite a walk for one cache but a great feeling of achievement when completed! As I had not planned ahead and just thought what cache can I get on the way to Sunday dinner that has the attribute I need for June, it was more difficult than necessary. When I was within 3m of cache location with nothing helpful evident, I cast further afield.Leaving Piccolo geopoodle outside, I ventured in wondering just how far I needed to go! When I saw the rusty ammo tin, I was concerned I may have difficulty opening it but it opened easily. Geopoodle had been whining at being left behind and as I approached the exit I realised a cyclist had stopped to check on the wellbeing of the dog owner! Glad to have this achievement! TFTC
Hunting caches weve talked about for so long. This one we all entered the tunnel but GG1 was the first in to dodge the bats and sign the log. Shes the best!!
After the events this morning, we headed to Upper Brookfield to find this cache. It had been on my list for a long time. We had tried to do this a few times but it was always the second walk for that day. So today was the day to find it. With a small entry to get through and a bit of water to walk through . Cache was found in good condition and cache was signed and replace back. Pigwig2 thank you for placing and 1MinnieMoo maintaining this cache for geocaching community enjoyment.
Dragged Muggle65 and Brislions on a great walk along the trails. Somehow l got to do the hard part. Very happy to tick this one off. Thank you for the fun
Today with another day in COVID-19 lockdown, I decided to use my home distance limitation and opportunity for fitness to complete the infamous *X* by MTB. I got going early departing from Enoggera Reservoir, and made the ride accordingly. It was a long day out, but given a few mechanical issues, I needed to move and redeploy my vehicle, which perhaps facilitated my loop ride. The ride was extended by performing additional detours and extensions whilst passing by nearby geocaches, and so in the end, it was a long day to be on the saddle!
This was quite a fun detour, although in hind sight, I probably should have left this for another time. Whilst riding and following *X*, I saw that this cache wasn't too far away, so I decided to take a ride down. I actually enjoyed those MTB trails, so it was quite a fun little detour (although the ride *cough* walk back up the fire tracks later wasn't). Now, the main problem about approaching this cache from the top, was not fully comprehending the requirements of this geocache adventure, and proceeding to walk to the posted coordinates. Why wasn't I finding the cache? Or where was this entrance? After checking out a few other photographs and re-reading the description / provided waypoint, I soon realised how I needed to approach this cache, and considered that majority of people would be walking here from the provided parking waypoint / bottom of the hill. I have done similar drain adventures, and commonly these are given as a multi-cache, with the entrance as the posted coordinates (but obviously cannot change this now). Luckily I had also brought with me my trusty torch.
I soon found the right entrance, and attempted to hide/stash my MTB nearby out of view. After preparing myself for the adventure by inspecting the drain, a few other MTB-ers came by, only to rest at the nearby junction. I overheard them with one of them seeing my MTB, and wondered if it had been dumped, so at that point, I had to reveal myself. They must have thought that I was quite strange, but after that, they proceeded on their way.
From then, I managed to keep my shoes dry by making the balancing act, whilst bending my back the whole way, and avoid the changing elevation requirements of the ceiling. I passed by a few water dragons on the walls, and a few small bats (COVID-19 originators?), and not after too long, I arrived at my destination, finding a nice yet large ammo can. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. A very fun adventure, and a Favourite Point from me! Thanks Pigwig2 for the cache placement, and 1MinnieMoo for its ongoing maintenance. Almost a year of unlove too!

Headed out to this one to show a friend what geocaching is all about. We both agreed that this one was the perfect level of challenge, a little eerie but never any serious danger. Lots of tiny, friendly bats. And plenty of moths - their eyes glowed red in our torchlight, spooky! We opted to walk next to the pipe because it was fairly dry and saved us craning our necks the entire way. Thanks for placing this one here, it was really unique.
What an adventure for our little family. Dad went in first to give us the all clear and the rest of us followed. Our 3 brave kids didn't have any trouble but I had faith in their abilities. Also, wouldn't have attempted it in ankle high water like some of the photos! Other than a bit of mud around the GZ, it was very dry underfoot. The kamikaze bats were a hoot and the giant moths and lizard by the entrance I could cope with. But the 2 toads guarding the cache gave me a little squeal. Took the blaze tag.
Thanks so much for giving us such a fun morning. It certainly pushed us out of our comfort zone.

I finally had a Saturday free and when this target was suggested I jumped at the chance to join some fellow adventurers.
The day began with an icy blast so we rugged up and grabbed some coffee. Soon we were on our way to the rendezvous point.
While we waited for the rest of the crew, we wandered in to pick up a nearby cache, but soon our number increased to 5 and we we off. Quite a few mountain bike riders were enjoying the paths so we kept to one side as we chatted. Before long the tunnel we had heard about was before us.
A quick shoe swap and a bit of a squeeze and we began the journey into the abyss. All the promised critters adorned the walls and most seemed happy to pose for photos.
Then it was down to the business of finding the cache. As we moved deeper into the tunnel, a few doubts were raised about how far we needed to go although there were not many places that could hold a cache so we just kept going.
Soon it appeared in the torchlight, it would have been pretty hard to miss. Some wd40 was applied along with a bit of muscle... log duties completed and a TB swap done... then off to our next adventure... and more coffee... tftc, FP well deserved

Jumped at the chance to get out of my comfort zone after several recommendations that this was a fun cache to find. My mind raced thinking there would be large smellie and noisy bats to dodge in the journey to find the prize but seriously surprised to find the cutest little midget ones quietly resting all along the rock walls.
Along with domsky, E_Smiley and Tenkae, we made easy work getting to where we estimated the cache would be and soon enough we were doing our log signing duties. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience of getting in and out of the tunnel without any fear and the walk was pleasant on an unusual brisk autumn morning.
A favourite point from me, well done CO's.

Domsky was scouting for great caches on a Facebook group and this cache was suggested. Met her virtually by attending a GCA events on Zoom - solving puzzles while in isolation. Was great to finally see her in person.
Early cold start for us Goldy Girls but the place was abuzz with bikies on the way to the parking coords.
Great trek to the 'gates', time to conquer the fear!
Thanks for the cache Pigwig2 and 1MinnieMoo. Enjoyed the hunt. Wasted a sleepless night thinking of the chances the roof will collapse on us!
Dropped and picked up tb

A plan was put in place with E_Smiley, Snickersallan and Tenkae to brave Brookfield Redemption.
This one had been mentioned on a recent Facebook post as being a lot of fun, so we met this morning on a cool autumn day at the car park for an 8 am start. With good company, the walk through the bush on the fire trails was happy and we didn’t seem to notice the hills too much at all. After following the fire trails, we left the wide track and began to slowly make our way along a smaller footpad. In a short while we saw the entrance!
At this point in time it was time to remove the bushwalking gear, and replace that with a snorkel and wellingtons, our torches and heavy duty survival gear! In we all went. The first question was whether to walk in a crouched manner along the pipe, or take the plunge and get our feet wet. After crouching for a few metres, we all decided upon option number two and pretty soon we were wading along the waterway with the lizards, the large toads, plenty of moths with their eyes shining pink and a swirl of bats continually flying up and down the tunnel around us. All in all, the wildlife kept us quite entertained and we tried for as many pictures as possible. At GZ, we had no GPS reception so did a guess as to how far we might need to walk. The container was obvious, and it would be pretty difficult to overshoot the mark.
Snickersallan had read a previous post about the container being a little rusted and difficult to open, and so had thoughtfully brought along some WD-40! With a little spray and some muscle manoeuvering, the container was soon open and a few TBs swapped and the log signed.
We waited at GZ for a few minutes to watch and try and take photographs of the little bats, most of which were very small. And then it was time to head back out.
This was such a fun adventure!
Great company, and even ginger beer waiting for us back at E_Smiley’s car!
Thanks 1MinnieMoo

I've been waiting to visit this cache for years and after a inactive period seemed like a great location to drop off the trackables that have sat with me for way too long.
Recent dry weather meant it was damp rather than wet underfoot but a kamikaze dragon on the way along to the cache gave me a fright that took years off me!
Container is getting a little seized up but was still nice and dry inside.
Another fun hike with menstrietash, zee and a muggle friend who now sees the fun to be had exploring for caches

Recently, Karicka and Burgo78 shared their adventures of this one on Geocaching SEQ.
I was beginning to think I was the only cacher in the known universe who had not done this much-revered cache. But then Captain Terror messaged me stating he was yet to do it. A plan was hatched...
We met at the suggested parking co-ords and made our way in. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of shade in the area. Admittedly, I struggled up the hills - but I kept on going. We made turns where we had to make turns and soon arrived at the Tunnel Trail.
This was my favourite bit of the walk... Nice and relatively flat.. and the track ran along a dry creekbed. Even though it was 700m long, I was surprised when we arrived at the tunnel entrance so quickly.
The moment I had been dreading : Getting me and my fat derrière through that grate. I was not afraid to get dirty (I had dressed to expect this!). Down onto my back and I started wiggling through. Much to my surprise, I got in seamlessly.
Captain Terror's turn - who made it look all too easy. We spent a couple of minutes getting our bearings.. and looking at what must be done. I opted to resign myself to my fate... and just put my feet into the water either side of the pipe. Captain Terror managed to keep his feet dry.
The first animal to startle me as a large water dragon. He scarpered /swam off and kept moving as we pushed forward. Then there was a huge moth and then.... the bats.
The bats were harmless little critters but still startled us with their capers. I managed to stand up relatively easily and sloshed through the water. But the lanky and 6'6" among us struggled - especially trying to keep their feet dry But as Captain Terror has done for me many times for me, I waited for him.. and made sure he was a-okay.
We looked behind us. It looks like we've only come like 10 metres! We took plenty of time out during our journey to take photos. We thoroughly were enjoying ourselves.
But then.. and all too soon it seemed.. Captain Terror spotted the cache. Oh. There she is. We took 5 and signed the log. We saw the logs for FTF - and saw Swellerfungus' log about being sh*t scared. I'd be sh*t scared to be in there at 9:45pm at night too!
Our trip back to the entrance was fun.. The bats seemed to be dodging me okay.. but then flying straight into Captain Terror - which made for much amusement.
Getting back out was a little trickier for me than getting in - but we got back out with no problems.
We both badly, badly, and terribly wanted a shower.. and my shoes were soaked... but we both thoroughly enjoyed the adventure. An easy faovurite point. My only regret was not doing it sooner. TFTC Pigwig2 and Lat&Long Junkie You both never fail to impress with your geocaches

Allow me to mention I saw the container first. Not a huge effort in spying, being out in the open, but I'll take the credit! We pondered what's in the water, rocks or bat shat that has made it so rusty. But inside is in good condition, so we each signed our names, then performed a ballet to turn around and get back out.
By this time I was getting some leg cramping from my squat-scooching and had to pause a couple times as Fang shuffled a little bit ahead. He paused and waited, which is always nice. But maybe that was because I had the torch. The ‘walk’ feels a lot longer than it actually is. I am glad we didn't have to go farther inside and did assume there's been a rockfall preventing seeing the light on the far end. But the light at the near end gets nearer. Bats flying ahead of us were getting pushed towards the light which they hated and getting ever more panicked. Trying to fly past, a few collided with each of us.
Just a tadly more difficult getting out than it was getting in, but that bar outside and above made a world of difference for me as my arms wouldn't fold sideways through the hole. Aweaty, two wet shoes, cramped, covered in.. let's say mud but happy, we exited the hole. I am so very glad I made the effort to grab this geocache and likewise I had a mate along for the experience. This is an outstanding geocache location and I wish I found it first. But I’ll enjoy the smiley just as much. Thanks for this geocache and experience, Pigwig2 and Lat&Long Junkie

I am quite familiar with the feeling. When you suspect a given infrastructure artefact exists, and you pour in some research, stare at maps and photos and theorise what and where it should be. At some point though, you've just gotta go check it out. And when you're wandering along, it comes into view. Best when it's exactly, or better, than expected. I suspect that happened here. And there is no geocache I like more than one that gets you up real close to abandoned, forgotten and unmarked infrastructure. If there is anything I disliked about this geocache, it is simply that I didn't find it first. I've tried a lot to find 'fresh-to-geocaching' tunnels, mines or drains and well.. turns out they're not just in every playground. And honestly, as uncomfortable as it can be getting to this geocache, I know I would've done exactly the same thing. For that same level of bastardry and to enforce enjoyment of the tunnel!
So when then, Mr. Terror has it taken you the best part of five years from publication to finding this? And the answer is a combination of ignorance and illiteracy. For some reason I had jammed in my thick skull that this geocache required ropes or some sort of technical equipment. Of which I have no access and minimal interest. But in a facebook chat about some other geocache, I was enlightened that this one is perfectly 'doable'. And looking at the listing, no idea how I was so misguided in my thinking. And then I noticed literally every other human being has been here.
Except for Fangsoki. If he loves anything more than heights, I'd suspect it's jamming himself into tiny places. Safe to say neither of us would've done this adventure alone. And so, a plan was formed. The drive to the parking location was uniquely Brookfield-esque. Odd roads going for ages in all directions, and so green everywhere. At the parking location there is a track, so let's go.
Naturally for this part of the world, it crossed a nice creek. Then went *up*. I had in my mind (again wrongly) that there would be a lot of *up*. But we went back down, found a bike track that cut a corner and it was pretty level going alongside a creek in the afternoon shade. Tracking along a creek was just nice. And quite suddenly a tunnel entrance came into view. Hey, at least we knew we were looking for a tunnel!
This brought on the task of getting a further sixty five metres, beginning with the great squeeze! Fangsoki insisted he'd go first and I'm not gonna stop him. I giggled at his wiggling. But following him and trying to fold my lengthy limbs through, neither of us had showed much grace. Natually, we took photos! Inside, we got our bearing and chose our locomotion methods. Fangsoki, chose to straddle the pipe and walk in the water. I had nowhere near enough head room for any method, and certainly didn't want to be in water (read: aquaphobia) so did a squat-shuffle across the top of the pipe. And no, this was not a comfortable method. But onwards we waddled!
Were we zooming along? Not at all. But we were making progress. That is, in between selfies and giggling at our absurd situation! Plus there were massive moths fluttering about, then a water dragon who kept swimming and scurrying about. Eventually the colony of bats became un-nerved by our presence and started flapping about, providing no end of entertainment for us as they zoomed by. Harmless and happy all around!

Harmless and happy all around!

brugo78 in the big smoke means that I get to have for great company on fun caches.
Found an alternative parking spot while looking at some property nearby.
All downhill to the entrance. We paid for that on the way back.
Arrived at GZ above, nothing here...
Further down and we found the entrance to the underworld.
Will be paying for the hunched walk and crawl in the morning for sure.
On the way out I stabbed my head on the grid, left some blood,
A good adventure, can I have more caches like this, please?

Down from Townsville for some more work training. This time ‘Adventure Based Learning’. Sounds fun right? Sadly this involved sitting in a classroom for 3 days talking about ABL rather than actually doing it.
Happy to look for some interesting DT’s today to fill the adventure void of the last 3 days.
After doing some fun ones yesterday we trusted the recommendation to look for this one. We arrived at the listed coordinates and scratched our heads a little before coming up (or should I say down) with another plan.
It was my turn to lead the way. Not wanting to get my feet wet I opted to walk the plank.
Not very comfortable for someone 6ft tall. Too low to walk, too high to crawl so lunges/squats it was. Without the agility of Russian dancers were happy to make it to the cache for a rest.
Log was found in good condition, well guarded by tiny bats and a solitary water dragon.
Another first of this kind for me so another favourite point left.
Thanks PigWig2 and Lat&Long Junkie

Was thinking more than 3.5 T not quite what I was thinking but sure was interesting adventure-thanks for taking us off the usual bike track
We really loved this cache. The walk in was beautiful and the five kids thought the tunnel was awesome. We saw all the previous mentioned animals- lizards, toads, moths and micro bats. It was such an adventure to share this with my brother and his kids. It’s what caching is all about for us. Tftc
With our crazy group assembled and geared up we entered the abyss one by one. I was number three behind 4Ando who scampered along the pipe like gymnastic twins from a circus! I ended up having to straddle the pipe and get the shoes a good soaking. I was glad the toads on steroids were so huge they barely moved as I clomped over them all. Lizards on a wall in the dark! That's something I don't see every day! Rather unusual looking inside thighs and knees are my legacy of an awesome fun adventure! What a brilliant cache!! Fave point!
I got the call from 4ando to ask if I wanted to join in on a group assault on this fun cache. I was sold on the free beer and pretzels but two nights before we left I got a text at the pub telling me to pack the gum boots. Once I responded with the obligatory WTF, I put that out of mind.
I got the chauffeur treatment and packed the gummies in the backpack and enjoyed the walk to GZ. Reading some of the other logs from the group I expected a bit more anal humour so I best not cheapen the memory now, but it was soon my turn to enter vegemite alley.
Why oh why did I not put my gumboots on? The toads didn’t freak me out and while some got their shoes in the slop, some of the smells would scare any food recently eaten out of both ends of your body. In my top 5 favourite things of all time are my 3 children, my wife and my ALDI hiking boots and I reckon my shoes are in the top 2 so I couldn’t sacrifice them.
I had long pants on but crawled up and down that cement pipe and I am paying for it now. I now have two big sores on both knees that stick to my slacks and when I got down to prey in church later, all I could scream was F...!! Thankfully my church guy is also a cacher and let me off with 200 Hail Caesar’s.
Great cache and worthy of a favourite point. Did I mention I had my gumboots in the backpack? tftc

Part of the big crew today. My mistake was not looking at the cache page and the photos prior to any time before 1am the night before. I saw that little gap and realised that perhaps I had consumed one too many chicken nuggets in the preceding years to fit through the gap.
In an effort to save my dignity I offered to go last. Once Team ARF had entered and made his way I sat with my legs in the hole and pondered. Finally I figured that I should just go for it! I slipped through that sucker like I was a size 6! Into the dark abyss the others were well a head of me now. Still I crawled along that pipe stopping to take a couple of pics and admiring the icky toads. I will admit their were some freaky noises and I wasn't sure if it was the rest of the crew ahead or something more sinister. As I was contemplating my level of freaked out'ness I took a view back towards the opening and saw a couple of mountain bike riders slowly approaching. I made a decision to begin the crawl back as I could also hear the cries of "Is that the cache?".
The groups bags were outside and I, by now the riders had stopped and were looking to see where the owners had disappeared to. So I made a big cheery wave and called out hello from the depth. I could see them tilt their heads to see where the voice was coming from, laugh, shake their heads and then mount their bikes and ride on. I did begin to wonder if we were in fact slightly crazy. Nothing left for me to do other than crawl the small distance back and pull myself back out the gap.
Heaps of fun but I am glad I didn't go too far in. A favourite point for putting me out of my comfort zone

Duh duh duuuuhhhhhh we have made it the pit of despair, the tunnel of darkness, the depths of the world, the ancient dungeon, not really we had reached our target cache for the day. Time to get radical and dirty. Six teams comprising of 4ando, Woodyrothwell, TeamARF, GCoven, JACSTeam and Ardom were here to balance the pipe like a few trapeze artists. When we put the call out for some others to come we were asked will this help our D/T grid, no way, this is just some random fun for sh&%s and giggles.
We all started pulling out the headlamps and gloves but we deemed ourselves just too awesome to slap on the gumboots that we had lugged out here. All armoured up and we were ready to head in, look at the little opening with bent back wire and a sharp pointy end, it looks so welcoming. In we went single file with Mr 4ando leading the charge and Mrs 4ando on his tail doing the nagging wife thing along the way ‘Can you see the cache yet?’ There was no chance of peering around him. After a while a couple of people jumped off the pipe and into the murky depths with the Chernobyl toads, the great thing about being short is that I could just balance all the way walking along the beam, but now that Mr 4ando was in the drink some visibility was seen ahead rather than straight up you know where.
At least the Chernobyl toads were keeping to themselves, the mutated moths were zipping around our faces and we spotted a few lizards up on the wall. Finally we reach the cache, with it having it’s fair amount of rust Mrs 4ando did not have another power in her bulging biceps to prize this thing apart, it was tossed over to Mr 4ando to get it open and then all of a sudden a bat comes out of nowhere and comes into him for a big kiss, never gonna here the end of this as he reackons he has now taken on Batman’s strength, the echos of 'I am Batman' were sounded down the tunnel. Cache opened and the log was passed around to be signed.
Venturing back out with the light opening in front of us there was a nice continual layer of particles floating around, we won’t think about what we are breathing in in here. Pulling ourselves back out and we were once again in the fresh air. Leaving a FP behind as this was a great adventure for us!

This is today's target cache as proposed by the 4ando's. The orifice chasers after locating a nearby bog welcomed this opening in the earth. For the record the northside orifice chasers today comprised of 4ando, Gcoven, JACS Team, Woodyrothwell, Ardom and moi.
All geared up we singularly entered the orifice face up and on our backs with Mr 4ando leading the procession. The first comments coming out of the orifice were look at all the toads. And there were many. If the Govt ever brings in a toad bounty, this spot should yield a small fortune and at least enough to cover your petrol to get here.
Other unfortunate critters encountered were more toads, lots more toads, a few moths, a couple of lizards and a bat or three. Aromatic bat guano permeated the length of the tunnel and scented the clothes of the orifice chasers, a real treat!!
A unique experience with only a little blood lost, a few wet spots and the undeniable stench of of that aphrodisiac, bat guano. Gotta be worth a FP. Thanks for your efforts Pigwig2 and Lat&Long Junkie.

Target cache for the day. We all lined up and took a good look before deciding to go for it. Toads... lots of toads! And a bunch of big lizard things and a bat. And eventually a cache! Great adventure, but glad I did it as part of a group... TFTC!
From the cache description:
Required Equipment: 1 Ltr Water, Torch, Bug Spray, Sense of Humour, Maybe a skateboard for the downhill run back to the car
Well, I guess I have a sense of humour. One out of five ain’t bad right? I certainly didn’t have any of their remaining items as this cache wasn’t even on my radar when I left the car. Which is a shame because I did have a head torch sitting in the car.
I came in here to find a multi and decided to grab the other two trads. As I passed the entrance to the tunnel trail I thought that I might as well walk to the entrance to the tunnel and have a look.
I have been here once before as a runner about ten years ago. Runners are crazy. But we looked at the tunnel and never once considered entering it so maybe geocachers are crazier.
I squatted down at the entrance and looked in, immediately deciding that I would not be going in. Then I read the cache description. Next thing I knew I was going in. I started off in a crouching walk. Then I tried crawling but my knees didn’t like that. Eventually I thought bugger the wet feet and just walked alongside the pipe.

Wow. I been looking at this one since my 49th find thought I could attempt it for my 50th but I didnt.
Come today. I planned it all out. My accomplice Kendall came with me. We parked at Highland road after doing some research I had to think about it and thought we'd be fine to go down tunnel trail.
Took which I knew was the tunnel trail but Kendall insisted it was wrong because it was a full on bmx track which was a bit intimidating, sovtook a much longer track bush bashed for a bit before we found the bottom of tunnel trail.
Can I say wow. Got to the correct entrance and was like yes yes yes let's get in there. Kendall stayed behind to look out for my safety. This was so much fun.
The huge water dragons, the spiders, toads, flys and moths, and or course the millions of bats that were flying in and out. Was hard to open ammo can took me a bit of struggle haha.
Thanks for my 100th cache find! Planning on uploading a video to YouTube of my experience. Cheers for the fun! X.

Second time to the tunnel and more prepared today. Made it to the geocache and left behind a man to represent us all that went in today. The pen wasn’t working at first but after some persistence we managed to get it working to write our names.
On our first trip my sister in law caught her head on the sharp wire. So this time we wrapped it up for protection!
This is our first cache and we are very happy with the adventure we had.

This cache seems to provide a useful service to local cachers; a reminder to ensure one is up to date with tetanus shots! Redemption has been on my list to achieve (in oh so many ways!) for a very long time, but I'm honestly very glad I didn't attempt this one any earlier as it took some deep breaths and a mental slap even now.
I usually don't have a massive problem with confined spaces, but combined with the fact I did the 'dark & enclosed' bit on my own as Jez wasn't sure about the entry (with fully justified concern as it turned out!), and the fact I had forgotten my headlamp so was reliant on my mobile phone, combined to make this one quite adrenaline-inducing.
In I went, all gung-ho ("I've done IT and underberg, this'll be easy!"). Got a little way in balancing on the pipe, realised the ceiling was *much* lower (and more jagged) than I had originally anticipated and promptly did an about-turn do get rid of some pocket items and re-gather myself. On my way out of the entrance I caught the back of my neck on the bars which got the claret flowing, and given that I had to squint off into the trees in an attempt to remember when I had my last tetanus vaccination, we decided a side trip to the doctor's was in order on the way home!
Right, deep breath, don't be an idiot! On my next attempt I managed to 'walk' most of the way beside the pipe with one foot on the pipe supports and the other up on the lower wall, which mostly worked well. In other news, both my phone and new boots are waterproof as advertised .
As per the description the cache is actually *very* easy to find once at GZ and the log was quickly signed. I took the TB and prepared to beat a quick retreat; the bats were becoming more agitated and I had no desire to add rabies to my required list of shots for the afternoon!
Thanks for placing this wonderful, fear-testing ammo can! An FP of course.

I was in the area today with Dora the Explorer! who has been to this cache twice previously and had stated how much she enjoyed it and thought that it might be a cache that I would enjoy.
We found a suitable parking spot and on commencing the hike, Dora the Explorer! said that her GPS had flat batteries and was not working. That was OK as I had mine. I followed the compass whilst at the same time keeping to good tracks. We came to various signs which indicated which way to go and as usual took the wrong track.
We started walking uphill and Dora the Explorer! said she didn't remember such steep climbs however we kept on going we followed a track along a ridge and then went bush bashing down until we walked right over the top of GZ. Now where is the entrance. After a bit of searching we was another track and the entrance.
After removing all things from my pockets and setting up the headlamp, I made my way to the entrance and immediately got a blast of cool air.
I made my way along taking note of the size of the moths and after a while the cache was in hand. I had heard about the bats but none were seen so far.
The log was signed and returned to the cache and the cache replaced as found. A trackable was left.
On the way back out one small bat was seen. It looked like he was checking out what was going on.
Back out and return to the car along the correct pathways.
This was an enjoyable cache and is well worthy of a favorite point.
All is good with this cache.

#4184 [18:00] i couldn't miss this legend and today was the right time, although a bit late. but it doesn't matter being outside dark if inside is dark always i went from top over upper level GZ and located the entrance. then i went inside. i would divide it in three zones: moth zone, why not, not so annoying, just there, let's go further. dragon zone! well, to have one meter creature few centimeters from my head... i went back to signal and checked what they are and if they can hurt. why not to ask nyssa, she must know the best. i get this response: "yes, they will eat your face off. huge nasty beasties." this helped a lot, thank you so i did second dive in. passed over second zone with about five dragons, luckily they didn't move while passing them so close, just one jumped with thoundering noice into the water infront of me. then i entered third zone - vampire zone. i think they had it as a game going around me with the closest distance as possible. and then it came - the cache! i signed the logbook and went back out and back to my car without any further incident.
thanks a lot pigwig2 for this cache, it would be real shame not having cache at such great location. it was really my cup of tea, i loved that! ***favorite*** is the must.

Out with Mrs OC for a morning of bush walking and hill climbing on the trails around the Mt Cootha bushland. This was our primary target for the walk, but to make it more challenging we decided to come in from Highwood Rd. We came within 100m of GZ, but it was steep and straight down with no obvious track so we played it safe and continued around to the given trailhead.
This put us on a well formed trail, nicer than just a footpad. At the entrance it was clear what was required (perhaps legally dubious, but we turned a blind eye ) . We emptied our pockets of easily dropped items and headed in.
I don't have problems with confined spaces, nor bats and water dragons. But the swarming moths trying to enter my mouth were becoming annoying .
The legs started complaining from the walking squats, given that I had a massive ride yesterday, but they were soon ignored. The air was becoming heavy, pungent and damp, and I hoped enough oxygen was coming in, then I spotted the container and the logging was quickly performed before returning to daylight.
Mrs OC did an amazing job, I'm surprised she came in at all, let alone make it all the way through. Tough woman that one .
We found a well marked trail through the Lantana that took us straight up the hill and cut about 20-30 minutes off the return journey... Nice!
Thanks for a great experience, add another FP to the pile!

Having met up with 1MiniMoo recently, and after going for a few crazy caches together , she happily invited me along to her 300th find. I was indeed, very excited when she mentioned this cache! It has been at the top of my caching list for too long. WOOHOO! Let's do this
Today, the direct Nyssaflutterby route managed to get us to some bars that looked like Donkey Kong had escaped!!!
And then I had the thought of..... "Don't make me come down there or I'll scalp your skull for ya".
I can't possibly imagine what Andy went through to escape, but I'm sure this would have been bliss for him.
Crawling along the pipe with 1MiniMoo certainly put me out of my comfort zone, I'm not a fan of small enclosed spaces. Especially when there are large face eating lizards YES!!!! They are huge! And YES!!!! They do leap at you!!!! Not sure if they will actually eat your face but I think they tried Thankfully the courageous MiniMoo was in the lead and directed me past all invading reptilian inhabitants. Finally 1MiniMoo's victory call resounded and I caught up to find her wrestling the cache from the clutches of a huge toad. Happy snaps were taken and then it was time to escape!!!
Thanks for the cache Pigwig2 and Lat&Long Junkie

14/06/2016, 1:00 PM Find #300
Out with the lovely NyssaFlutterby today to achieve a couple of goals - 1. To make my 300th find, and 2. For Nyssa and I to both work on our own personal fears together and grab the smilie for this cache as it has been on both our lists for a while.
After grabbing a couple of caches earlier, this was to be the 300th, so we parked our cars and headed via the Nyssa Direct Route, both hoping we would have the confidence to complete our mission and not have the next cacher come along and find us both curled up in the foetal position in the tunnel!
Well the Nyssa Direct Route may not have got us there quite as easily, but we did find the entrance and after taking a couple of moments to take photos (or to steel ourselves) we headed on in, with Nyssa telling me before entry NOT to scream when I see my fear - the BATS! Ok Nyssa, I'll do my best...
I headed in first, figuring I could check out what we were in for with the enclosed space (Nyssa's fear), and we hadn't gone far before I saw eyes shining back at me. Hmmm is that bat? There were certainly plenty of moths near the entrance but this was something else. Then I saw a tail, and "snake" came to mind. But no it was just a water dragon, that's ok. That is ok, isn't it Nyssa? Nyssa?! It's possible at this stage that it was NOT me that let out a shrill sound, but we will let that one lie, won't we Nyssa
On we pressed through some of the most revolting piles of poo ever and when I saw my first bat, I have to say it was really very cute, not like those horrid fruit bats that I have my phobia about! Thank goodness!! I even had to stop up close and take photos, despite the poor little thing trying to shield his eyes and sleep, sorry batty. Well it seemed much further in than the roughly 65 metres suggested outside, but I'm sure that was all about us being where we didn't exactly want to be. And then we found it, and as I reached to grab my 300th cache, I also discovered another one of my hates guarding the cache - a giant cane toad! Please stay just over there Mr Toad, while we sign and take photos. And as I open the cache I found something else we had both lost.... Our marbles! [:o)]
Log signed and Nyssa very cautiously asked if we now had to continue venturing through the tunnel. Nope, we were both glad to have got our smilie so it was time to turn around and head back... Where the bats had started flapping wildly! I'd have been a little happier if they hadn't flown for my face so much, but all good, the only reason I'd need a change of pants when we get home was because of all the caked on dirt and bat poo on the knees and shins.
However, we couldn't have a caching experience without some injury, and on exit poor Nyssa hit her head really hard on the overhead bar outside the cave, causing a little blood (and I hear a tetanus shot later). Thanks for the cache Pigwig2 and Lat&Long Junkie, without doubt an FP from me!!

TG and I decided to spend the day walking around this area and finding a few of the caches.
This one was next on our list.
There’s been plenty of talk about this one in particular so we were aptly prepared for the journey into it.
Upon arrival I was keen to get in there but TG was a little more apprehensive.
After a bit of encouragement, no maybe a lot of encouragement I convinced her it would be ok and she reluctantly entered.
I thought it was pretty cool and I came across all sorts of different critters, crawly, hopping, flying just to name a few.
Finally we arrived at the cache and that was far enough for TG, she’d had enough.
We made for the exit and climbed out unscathed.
If there’s ever another cache put in here I think it’ll be a trip for me by myself.
At least I didn’t get the blame for putting the cache in there.
However next time TG catches up with the cache owners I think they’ll hear about how nasty it was?
Taken by Geowife to this one. She left me go solo into the location with no hints at all, just keep going in. Aftet a bit of bending and twisting got inside. Made my way down a tunnel for some time. You will need a head torch and be ready to get dirty and wet feet. After a time reached gz and found cache. While entering my log I heard a humming sound which turned out to be bats. Lots of bats flying around my head and legs. I could feel the wind from their wings on my bare legs. I am glad they have good radar. After leaving cache bats followed me out. The Geowife said bats came outside where she was waiting, then went back inside to get more sleep I think.
I did this one by myself and it was great fun. On the walk through the tunnel i actually got disappointed when i found the cache i thought it was going to be a lot further in. I enjoyed watching all the moths flying around and seeing all the bats. There were some tiny bats and some larger ones. At one stage they were flying around my head. I followed the tunnel on for a bit further past the cache. The bats made a bit of noise with their flapping wings. More like this please.
When we heard from DiamonJS earlier this week that Team Benders was approaching her 6000th find and 5 year geocaching anniversary, we just had to be in on the show! [:o)]
We had heard so much about this cache and its unique hiding place from our friends at the Kenmore group, that we knew it would be one we would have to do some time, but as we live quite a way from the "mysterious" side of town, it was not high on our list. Until now.
So after helping Team Benders reach her 5999th last night, today was the day.
DiamonJS drive up from Cockroach Land just for the occasion, and we all met at just after 8am, prepared for the trek and off we set.
All was as expected - saw the tunnel entrance - noted the abundance of moths in the tunnel, then into the darkness we went, led by Mrs RoddyC - who actually managed to overshoot the cache. What an achievement Team Benders! We all signed the log book individually, replaced the cache and walked our way back out towards that thankfully ever-present light at the end of the tunnel.
Overall, that wasn't as bad as we expected. I think the walk up and down the "hills" to GZ was far more of an ordeal than the actual tunnel. (Male perspective here.)
Back at the Geo-mobiles, we sipped some apple bubbly and ate some cake (graciously prepared gluten free by Rusty86) to celebrate this milestone with Team Benders. [^]
Found at 9.00am on 15th January 2016. TFTC.

Well this was one I never thought I would do, but with Team Benders sitting on such great numbers I had to celebrate with her and this was the one cache she wanted to do or there was just one other and as I am climbing THAT Mountain in NSW again in early February I was not keen on that one at this date. It was an early leave from home for me as I had a nearly 3 hour drive to get here and all that time I was thinking why am I doing this, do I really want to do this, but yep I did. I saw the entrance and thought hmmm bats, hmmm not going there, hmmm have to, bats are afraid of lights aren't they, so head torch on, torch in my hand we set off, sliding on our bu#$, this lasted three slides for me and I thought I bought spares of everything so off I got and started walking/sloshing. What a great hide, I agree it was not for everyone but so glad I have done it and it makes me want to do more of these type. Nice cake and non alcoholic champers after to celebrate and we were off to the next one. TFTC and a favourite point from me.
#6000 find. Its my 5th geobirthday today and arriving at 5,999 finds last night, I mentioned that I had not been to this cache ( I actually had stood on the hill above it). I logged on Logan Geocaching website of my approaching dates and diamonjs and RoddyC answered and came with me today.
I was feeling a little apprehensive about it before arrival. Left my boots and GPS in the geomobile, goose that I am and headed in with my friends.
Arrived in front and I just had to check it out. I could see pipe, water and a few cave moths.
When Mrs RoddyC went in first, I didn't think about it anymore, I just followed her. Then came Diamonjs and RoddyC in the rear. We started just bottom pushing along the pipe for a little way and then got up and walked along beside the pipe. I thought Mrs RoddyC was heading all the way to the end of the pipe as she graciously passed by and allowed me the find of this momentous moment the cache right in front of me. We all signed the log and had a few piccys at GZ.
Time to turn around and wander or slosh out of GZ. All had soggy socks and wet pant legs and dusty bottoms and smiles from ear to ear. A few piccys at the entrance and once back at the geomobile we celebrated with appletizer and gluten free cake (compliments of Rusty86 thanks) and thanks to my geofriends for helping celebrate by coming with me for this occasion. The best part of this was having my friends with me.

Another trip to the leafy western suburbs, or was that East Ipswich? Today, my primary goal was to collect a nearby cache of a specific container type and DT to fulfill the qualifying requirements for an overseas challenge cache
Of course, I don't get out this way much, and this cache has been high on my to do list, so .......
I am not 100% comfortable in confined spaces, and therein lies the challenge for me with this cache. Being a solo attempt, it was a mind game, as I am certain I would have been OK with others along for the find.
I was also petrified of coming across a snake, eager to grab a feed of bats from within. Whilst suitably prepared with gloves, head torch and so on, I would recommend either knee pads orr wellington boots as appropriate caching equipment for this one.
I texted some friends with some instruction about where they could find my body if I didn't turn up at a later event and after a couple of big deep breathes, I headed in. No problems, but the going was slow. The tide was definitely in after the recent heavy rains.
After negotiating the entry, I started on hands and knees but after about 30 very slow metres, when the walls and roof started closing in on me a little, I thought stuff it, my boots will dry out eventually, and just walked along beside the pipe in the shin deep water. This was a lot easier.
By the time I reached the container, I was fighting a battle with my fear, and winning , but only just. Log book signed, ammo can closed and I was out of there. The 65 metres in was about my limit. Not certain if I could have done much more.
Thanks Pig Wig, for challenging me. A favourite point, of course.

A group hunt by the Northside Puzzle Group - Lead by Geohound - Jimmy
Geohound was eager to get in but he just couldn't keep his paws on the pipe.
After dragging my sorry butt into through the hole (just made it) the hound followed & wass carried the short distance to safely walk beside the pipe.
I had to keep light in front of him so he could see where he was going, but we made it in the end & was happy to sign the log book.
Oh can't say i was happy about the walk in though, couldn't walk for two days after as my knees were so sore.

It's taken me a while to write the log for this one. Along with dozens of fellow cachers, I hiked along the Gold Creek trail today with this as our target, arriving at the narrow entrance en masse and splitting ourselves into little groups to head in and sign the cache. I was prepared, with my arachnophobia, not to go in, and so let all the others go in first both to check for spiders and scare the ones that were in there away. Group after group returned reporting a distinct lack of spiders, so I psyched myself up and in I slithered. Keeping my eyes firmly on the pipe and refusing to check the walls, I splashed along towards the goal behind Mr Just A Trifle, my chief spider checker. Things were going well until a bat distracted us - and naturally, at that moment, only centimetres from my knee, a large black spider appeared on the pipe (apparently the only one in the whole tunnel!). With others behind me, there was nowhere for me to go, and the result was a kind of hyperventilating catatonia. The people behind me managed to get Mr JAT's attention and he dealt with the creature. I don't remember much more. I remember seeing the cache in people's torchlights and Barbbowman and getting out and having a full-blown phobic meltdown. I know many people were supporting me but my recall of who fails me, I'm afraid. My sincere thanks to those who did. I very much appreciate it. Oh, and I'm not giving this cache a favourite point! [:p] TFTC, Pigwig2 and Lat&Long Junkie. =^.^=
I had no idea what this cache was about when I decided to join in the group assault. A bit of research and I wasn't so sure what I had signed up to.
But ….?
I enjoyed the walk in along the paths, I have only ever entered this area from farther east and never got this far. The hill passed quickly and after a few detours we arrived. I managed to wait till the last group to enter.
Thankfully barrbowman and fasted were lighting the way and providing comforting words.
With the log signed and made a quick retreat before the killer bats came back
tftc and challenge without it being a challenge pigwig

Found today with a great group of fellow cachers. Enjoyed the hike in and grabbed a few caches on the way. We were looking forward to finding a different type of cache hide. Goldielover and I waited and were the last group to enter. Goldie was not too sure about this but did well in pushing the fear aside and pushed on. There were not too many off shoots to worry about and we never lost anyone. All managed to get their names in the log book.
Thanks Pigwig2 for a great cache. Loved it!

I was another member of the NPG who had a go at finding Brookfield Redemption today. I couldn't chicken out because I had to be brave for Eminoz04 to join in. I am claustrophobic (discovered this while caving which was a bit inconvenient, LOL!) so I was feeling a bit unsure of it all, but once inside it's quite roomy. The highlight was the bat who decided to help us find the cache. TFTC Pigwig2 I loved it!

Having heard much about this cache, when a date for a group raid aligned with the planets we didn't hesitate to jump on the band wagon to find our redemption We had a very pleasant walk along the tracks, dodging a number of mountain bike riders as we went and before long, and we soon found ourselves at the point of entry.
We had noticed a backpack not far away and were a little curious as to who it could belong to, even talking about whether a mountain bike rider may have perhaps come to grief. The mystery was soon solved though when teamdfl was found sitting waiting at ground zero for us all to arrive
Mrs Just a Trifle volunteered Mr Just a Trifle to take one for the team and venture into the murky depths to add our name to the log book. Thank you Pigwig2 for having placed the cache for everyone to enjoy

Sooo, Pig Wig owns a tunnel cache close to where Lat Long Junkie lives, and Lat Long Junkie owns a mineshaft cache closer to where Pig Wig lives...us geocachers are a complex bunch, but guess what, I have found both of them.
This day with the Northside Puzzle Group was a slow meander grabbing a couple of caches on our way in. Once we were near the tunnel it felt similar to a bunch of lemmings making their way to their downfall, since there was so many of us and all.
If I came here by myself I would of loved it heaps, but this day was just as rewarding, seeing people challenge themselves the way they did.
Thanks Pigwig...and LLJ, a FP from me cos it ticks the criteria.

I don't think there's much I can say that hasn't already been said by other members of the NPG group I was with today.
Some horses and camels to see on the drive in, people to chat with as we walked along the bush tracks, a personal challenge to take me out of my comfort zone, some cute little bats to see in the tunnel and of course a cache to find and a logbook to sign.
A big thank you to Barb and Eddie for organising today's outing, so glad I didn't chicken out

The call had gone out for a group assault on this cache and I was keen to join in.
As others have said, the stroll into the portal was a time for some great bonding between friends and the time passed quickly.
I was lucky that I was close to the front of the pack when we arrived and found myself doing the slide through the grill and from there I enjoyed the experience. After initially starting to crawl along the pipe I decided that, to save my knees, that I should take the plunge and walk through the slush to the cache.
It was a pleasant surprise to find TeamDFL sitting at the cache when we arrived.
Thanks to Barb and Ed for organising of this hunt and the support to everyone along the way.
A very memorable cache that deserves a fav point. Thanks Pigwig2 and L&LJ

This cache has been on my to do list for a long time now . Perhaps not for the same reason as others and I would love to share the reason.
Many years ago I fell in love with skating . More specifically roller derby. In derby skaters are given a name . My name was reedemption. So when I saw the name of this cache I just had to have my name in the book one day. Over the years life got busy and I left derby and my skates rarely see daylight . I also had a few vision problems arise which meant bigger walks and anything I needed good eye sight for were pushed aside .
With new glasses and an eagerness to tackle some harder caches I was ready to tackle this cache .
Soon enough it popped up in a discussion with some fellow cachers, a date was set and off we went. We had quite a large group of varying abilities and experience and one 4 legged friend.
Getting to the tunnel was a nice little walk with plenty of chit chat along the way . It took some of us longer to get there and the better half of Scattsmadhouse had made it through the tunnel signed the log and was out before I was ready to go in. With only my desire to finish this completely I convinced matt to come back in with me . He was eager to be by my side and in we went.
The pipe was slippery and it took a few minutes for the eyes to adjust. On we went .There was mention of bringing knee pads next time and a few little bats popped by to say hi. Fast ed was a pleasant sight at the halfway point and barb was all smiles when we spotted her waiting with the log book at GZ .
I signed my name and left the tunnel feeling on top of the world .
TFTC . It was an amazing experience and one I shall not forget .

Sunday. Slow Puncture were out with quite a few of the Northside Puzzle Group to tackle Brookfield Redemption. On the way we picked up some others in the area.
So here we are, at our quest for the day. As our group changed into the water shoes, gumboots, galoshes or what have you, it was decided (wisely) that we would go in six at a time.
We were in the second group with RaynersinOz, her Daughter Emmy, TrickyT, Grant of JimmyProject and Jimmy himself [xx(]. We have to admit to having a little bit of apprehension about what stood before us, but in we went. We started by walking along the top of the pipe but it became too hard to stay bent over like that and keep moving whilst maintaining one's balance atop a now wet and getting muddy pipe, whilst trying to hold a torch and make sure the mobile didn't fall in the drink So in the end we put the water shoes to good use and legged in the rest of the way though the water, which was only ankle deep at the deepest point.
The Bowman's kept us well looked after - Ed ppoviding a halfway point reassuring smile and Barb was stationed at the cache with the logbook ready and was taking souvenir photos of all, which we were disappointed to see weren't available in the lobby after we exited
The return journey was less daunting as we now knew what to expect, and getting out was the opposite of getting in - which meant clothing got a little dirty. All in all a very different and slightly challenging experience, moreso for the mind not the body.
This was the 3rd of 5 caches found on this trip.
Thanks [Blue]Pigwig2[/Blue], for showing us this place.

Didn't say I was actually going today as I thought it may jinx me as lately I've had problems getting to events I've said I would attend. Luckily the stars aligned and I was at the parking WP bright and early. A beautiful piece of bushland here and a joy to be wandering along with a great bunch of nutters. There was a bit of upping and downing as we grabbed a few other caches along the way, but nothing serious. Arrived at the 'gate to the under world' and surprisingly everyone was eager to jump right in. Now getting a large group in and out is logistically tricky but ran quite smoothly. Some walked along side the pipe sloshing through the mush. Others (me) crawled along the pipe, because I didn't bring a second set of footwear and didn't want to walk out with soggy shoes. Apart from bumping my head 3 times to the meter, I managed this quite well. Log was signed and the return journey was quicker despite having to knock a few bodies off the pipe coming the other way. All in all, a memorable cache. Thanks Pigwig2, I left a favourite point in the cache for you, go get it. Oh, all right , you can have it now.
Found with stairman1 and a bunch of other crazies. I'm part of a new group now and was invited to attend a joint assault. Geodog was coming today but he only had a bath yesterday and didn't want to mess up his hair style Well that's what he told me anyway
The walk was enjoyable while grabbing a few caches along the way. We arrived at the tunnel and the fear hit me, Small places and I don't agree. Stairman1 brought the gummies so I couldn't complain about wet feet and gloves so I couldn't complain about breaking a fingernail and a head lamp so I couldn't complain about the dark. What else was there to whinge about. The small dark and wet place I was about to enter.
We were in the last group and my turn came to squeeze through that teenie hole into the dark abyss. I didn't hesitate because I knew I wouldn't get in so with a shove from stairman1 my journey began. I don't really remember much about the tunnel l. I was focussing on bright happy visions. I eventually arrived to sign my name and then scurried towards the light. I was ever so glad to squeeze back out into the fresh air.
Very glad I attempted this one but I won't be back to re-visit any time soon. Thanks LLJ and pig wig for pushing me out of my comfort zone.

Found this cache today with a group of cachers. I was a bit apprehensive about climbing in but once I got it it wasn't that bad. When we got to the cache though and stopped I decided I'd had enough so I quickly left again. I realised on the way out that I'd lost my torch but luckily I found it right near the entry.
I got a bit grubby but I did it! I'm please that I did it, but I'm not keen to do that again any time soon!
Thanks for being crazy enough to hide a cache in there!

Out on a mission with the Northside Puzzle Group and friends for an enjoyable day.
We were out to tackle a particular cache, but were also grabbing all those close by also.
This was the particular cache!!
The team assault contained 19 people of all different fitness levels. We hiked our way to the cache, then decided to go in in three groups.
Someone had left my hat-light on and it had gone flat. I didn't realise until the night before and so I had to resort to a handheld work light.
I went in feet first and walked in a crouched form along the pipe. I managed to stay like this for most of the way, but when the roof started closing in, I resorted to crawling. There was some pretty nasty stuff over that pipe though so as soon as I could, I got back up to a crouch!
I caught up to the group as they were handing the log book around, I signed, then I realised... There was another person sitting on the pipe that hadn't come in with us!! Argh!!! Hello Gail from Team DFL!! She had snuck in before we had gotten there and snuck in to wait! I wonder what the leaders of our team had done when the were walking up that tunnel and their torches lit up a person in front of them!!!
Thanks for the adventure and TFTC!!

I had been offered an opportunity, to join a small group attack on this cache, on two previous occasions but as luck would have it the heaven's opened & it was a no go both times.
This only made me more determined to get in here & find what was beginning to turn into my nemesis cache.
Well, today was the day!
An invitation had gone out to join several members of the NPG & confront what was fast becoming an illusion rather than a reality.
You bet!
All kitted up with the water, the bug spray, the brand new 'Land & Sea' shoes, definitely a sense of humour & an adrenalin supply bordering on overload & it was game on.
Made the 40 minute drive to the agreed meeting point & in short order, after a round of hellos, we hit the trail.
I believe our numbers had swollen to something like 27 + Jimmy, the group guard dog!
What a great group of people we had assembled here today.
As we ambled through the trails, dodging mountain bikes & trying to ignore the ups & enjoy the downs, a few other nearby caches popped up on the radar.
Well, it just wouldn't be right to ignore them, would it?
Finally we arrived at the 'portal' & some discussion took place as to it's size, rather small really! LOL ...
Oh well, who's up (or rather IN) first?
There's no time like the present, so I opted to join the first group of intrepid explorers & plunged right in.
After the heat of the walk in through the bush trails the cool breeze flowing through the tunnel was wonderful.
I took a brief moment to enjoy this, with my eyes closed, before making my way further into the unknown in search of the cache.
I took the time to look around as I sidled forward alongside the pipe, the option of walking/crawling on top was not all that appealing &, after all, it's only a little water.
No spiders, lizards or other 'nasties' made an appearance, for me, today, but there were a few large moths & a handful of rather cute & friendly, but somewhat disturbed, little bats.
I was taking so much time, enjoying myself & looking around that I almost forgot about the cache.
Once more focussed on the main reason for being in here I caught up with the rest of the group, signed the log & made the return journey to allow the next group entry.
(The funny thing was we actually gained an extra member in our group. Gail Young was lurking, hidden, in the tunnel on our arrival. We were going to leave her there but finally relented & allowed her to exit with us!)
I loved this cache!!!
Thank you for placing the cache here, a wonderful spot indeed!
Definitely a favourite point from me for a great cache, location & all round experience.

#861 - When the Northside Puzzle Group planned this attempt I said I would be coming, but previous panic attack in a confined space kept me from actually going in. As the CO seems to be happy for others to sign for me I have gracefully accepted the offer. I enjoyed the hike and the company, because sometimes for me it's not just the numbers.
TFTC Pigwig2 and a Fav just for getting me so close to face my fears.... Who knows, I might eventually get over them.

This is a cache that I had seen much talk about in the past and also had come up on the map when I was looking around multiples times before. I had wanted to do it but just was not to sure about making the trip in.
So obviously I had absolutely no illusions about what was needed to get this cache. I had set off from a slightly different parking spot then suggested, however followed a track most of the way in and soon arrived at the posted coords, but opps guess they are where the cache is, but I of course I was not in the tunnel.
So a little more following the map to get to the start of the tunnel and soon enough was working my way slowly along the pipe. I got probably half way to the cache in a crouched walked, however keeping the balance meant this was quite a physical exertion. So I resorted to hands and knees which was only slightly better really.
Soon enough I could see the cache, mostly because I was checking every direction as I worked along being absolutely certain that I was not going to pass it. So I got in the spot and grabbed the cache and got the log book signed. A quick picture, before I got all back in place and turned for the entrance.
The getting out was somewhat more challenging then getting in it seems. This cache was almost the most physical exertion I have had to put in to make it to and from a cache, especially over such a short distance. The little flapping friends in here did not help either, trying to keep my head low. Either way made it back out and quite happily headed on to another cache.

Wow wow wow. Oh my god! We missed the cavhe and went all the way in. There were so many screams from the bats flying over head, toads jumping aside us, giant spiders clambering away from us as quickly as we were trying to get away from them. 5 went in, 1 turned back near the start due to ill equipped attire, 4 carried on. As we climbed over the first barricade 2 of us decided we had enough and we turned back. 2 brave mothers ventured on unnecessarily. Bennyboppers and I found the cache on our way out. We had to wait for the 2 lous to go all the way to the other end before they turned around. Talk about cache blindness leading to a big adventure!
#1900 what a milestone. This was a oh my god. The bats were terrifying. Elise thought we had to walk to the end of the tunnel. We must of gone at least 200m when I started questioning are you sure we go to the end. Misssusan and I stopped and rechecked past activity when we realized we must of gone too far. Susan and I started back while lisylou and Loulou clark went to the end. On our way back when I spotted the cache. It was a big yah hoo when we spotted it. It definitely was an experience. Glad to make this a milestone.
Out caching with remsjw, lisylou, misssusan, bennyboppers and loulouclark. I went in as far as after the lizard and when lisylou, loulouclark, bennyboppers and misssusan walked into the water as I didn't have gum boots like they did. In the end I wasn't far from the cache! Very eery. Lisylou and Loulouclark went all the way to the end of the tunnel, which they didn't need to. Misssusan and bennyboppers found the cache on their way back. TFTC! Glad to have a smiley for this one.
Tough Mothers took the plunge into the abyss. Heard lots of sloshing as they made their way into the hillside. A long walk in, a long shuffle in only to be the same on the way out. Not a lot of room further in. Bats, spiders, and other miscellaneous creepy crawlers abound. Some of the intrepids went on their merry way up the pipe.
Wowee what a day. A nice walk in and we found our way to the entrance to the tunnel. I was the first one in it was a little eerie but a bit of fun. It wasn't long till I decided to take a plunge into the ankle deep water and walk along side the pipe. For some reason I thought we had to go to the end of the tunnel so after a long walk we got to what I thought was the end but it kept going so over we went, again we kept going to another lump, up and over loulouclark I went, the others had all turned back by this stage. We got to a point where there were so many bats we just thought oh my god do we keep going, have we passed the cache? There were so many bats but we kept going, put our heads down and let the bats fly over our heads. We got to the end and no cache in sight! We climbed out through a little wire entrance and tried to look at walking back but the lantana was pretty thick, we decided the bat cave was easier. Back we went, we chased a toad who was swimming in the water in front of me. When we were not far from getting back out at the first end I feared we were not going to find the cache, then there it was just sitting there. Talk about cache blindness, we'd walked on the other side on the way in, which is why we missed it. The log had been signed by the others so we returned it and got out of there. Oh my goodness, I went so much further than I needed to have but it was fun and I can say fear of bats what fear of bats, they're not too scary. Tftc

I got lead astray today by the Tough Mothers. Apparently I have passed my initiation now and joined the mad ladies! So many bats here! What a first ever premium cache and only my 7th ever find!
Continuing on my 25 D/T Challenge. I had promised NurseyJulie that I would accompany her to her 3000th cache and the days for these challenges happened to coincide Myself and a couple of others made the mad dash to this part of town to be part of the adventure. This was her chosen cache. After meeting up with the others at the agreed spot, we began the trek up and down a few hills to get to this one. Having picked up a few caches along the way, we spotted what might have been an entrance. There was some talk of perhaps there being another one. A short walk and a PAF later, we decided that we were in the right place at first, so headed back. We left our packs and walking sticks at the entrance and, one by one, made our way in. Once inside, our torches lighted the way. At first, I crawled along the pipe, but decided that as my feet were still wet from a cache elsewhere, earlier in the day, I may as well make this a little easier on myself and took the plunge into the shallow water. I then walked sideways towards the cache, keeping my hands on the pipe as support whilst traversing the uneven ground underfoot. At one stage, there was a comment from ahead that there was a large angry lizard on the wall. I moved closer to the pipe in an effort not to disturb it so much, but before I could reach the point where this comment was made, I heard a splash, as the lizard decided that it preferred to be somewhere else. I heard several other splashes during this adventure, but never actually saw the lizards. I didnt think we had gone very far when I heard the excited sounds of a find from up ahead. NurseyJulie had her hands on the cache and was opening it as I approached. So pleased to be part of your expedition today. We all signed the log. After returning the log to the cache. we began to make our way back to the light at the end of the tunnel. About half way back, I could see the tiny bats in the light ahead of me. This cache was a new experience for me in many ways and I enjoyed it immensely. TFTC

Scored an invite to join NurseyJulie as she celebrated her 3000th find today, and this was the chosen spot. In her backyard, worthy of effort and a top notch spot as well. Good choice I say - this is a most wonderful experience. And so close to the city. After meeting up at the Parking coords, along with SelvaGirls, barbbowman, Fast Ed and NurseyJulie the lady of the hour herself we set off up the trail for a most lovely wonder in the bush. A small hill or two, a creek crossing, lots of birds, and the odd insect or three we trundled along shooting the breeze and enjoying the company. We nabbed the odd cache as we passed by as well. In due course we arrived at what turned out to be the entrance, still a notable distance from published GZ. We looked at the idea of another entrance, but decided that we had it right, and that the journey in front of us will indeed be like that. It looked a lot shorter in the film.
OK, so in we went, and while I stayed dry on this part of the journey, my legs did start to cramp before we were done (and are still sore a week later) - others chose wet feet and had an easier trip. We said hello to a few itty-bitty bats, two rather confused looking largish black lizards and several hundred big moths, and apart from the banter, shuffling and grunting from the party of five the underground journey was largely eventless. And then we were there. Here is the container (nice), all safe and dry, and it ain't going nowhere. Luverly Guv'nors. Huuuge congratulations Julie on a wonderful milestone for a wonderful person. Thanks for inviting me along.
For those reading this and wondering if this is worth the effort? YES IT IS! Don't overthink it, grab a mate and get out there.
Thanks for placing this cache, Pigwig2 and Lat&Long Junkie. Found in good condition.

#3000! I had chosen this one as a milestone cache as it is in the area I live. Numerous times I saw people had gone out in groups, and I was not able to join in on those occasions as this was a cache not to be attempted alone.
So to right this wrong, to today I met up with with Selva Girls, FastEd, Barbbowman and Pprime. We were huffing and puffiing on the first leg of our journey. Finally the trail was a little more gentler and the others were able to collect a couple of the nearby caches . Off we diverted to a smaller track and made our way to the GZ? Is it [?] We walked up a bit further and could not see another point. So down we went again and looked at the entrance. Lights on, non-essentials left and we ventured in. A bit of a balanced walk and further and further we went. Hello Mr Lizard or two, hello moths, oh and hello a couple of bats.... eeek.... But as intrepid cachers we were, we made it to GZ and a very nice container was all safe and very dry here despite the recent rains
Very happy with this being a milestone . What a journey! It was great

Nurseyjulie had targeted this one as her 3000th cache, and we were lucky enough to score an invite. After finding a couple of others on the way in, it was onto this one. This looks like the spot on the video, but there was talk of a better spot. No, so back to the original spot.
All unnecessary gear dropped and in we go. Walked along the pipe for a while till that got to hard, so into the water I go. Slowly make our way further in, until we make the spot we need. Hmm, this could be interesting as the cache was covered in some mud with the recent rains. Julie opened the cache to find the contents dry and in good condition.
Log signed, photos done. Congrats to Nurseyjulie and thanks for the invite.
Great cache and a FP from me. TFTH

Being an ex-Queenslander now living in SA I had read the chatter about this cache. and was keen to do it sometime. That time was today. Visiting Queensland and staying with L&LJ, Mr L&LJ offered to accompany me. He had all the gear needed to do this cache, except suitable footwear for me, so we stopped off at KMART to get a $5 pair of deck shoes.
We arrived at the listed car parking area and I stepped out into a hot broth of humidity (SA doesn't get humidity like this!) and prepared ourselves for the walk to the cache. Some steep parts early in the walk got me sweating like Niagara Falls, but I battled on. Got to GZ and a cool breeze was emanating from the entrance and I could hardly wait to get in there
Donned my new $5 shoes, got torches sorted, and away we went wading alongside the pipe. L&LJ had brought along a new floodlight he wanted to try out and it worked a treat, lighting up the tunnel brilliantly. (The resident bats probably weren't as pleased with the lighting). Found the cache sitting on the spoil from an old roof collapse and signed the log.
Light drizzle started just as we emerged from the tunnel which kept us cool for the return walk to the car. Getting wet wasn't a problem as I was already saturated from sweat.
This cache ticked all the boxes for fun and adventure - a favourite from me. TFTC Pigwig2 and L&L Junkie.

On my way to what I consider to be a great morning out. A bit of a tour on the geocycle in the forest along some nice fire trails and a bit of a blast along some nice single tracks. Lumps, bumps, jumps, berms and corners.
I had rounded up some other caches on the way to this one to make it a minor mile stone. Find #5200 and by far the best for the day.
The fact that I got to ride Pipeline Trail to get near GZ had nothing to do with my enjoyment of this cache. Nor that I could loop back up the fire trail and manage a bit of Rocket Frogging before heading back to the car. Woohoo!!
My biking fun aside I also enjoyed finding this one. I have been here before, when I first explore this area on the bike. The trail name sounded worth an explore, but I did not go in the tunnel back then.
The ride to the tunnel was a blast - I may have mentioned that already. I managed to ride to with in sight of the tunnel before a fallen tree stopped my progress.
Lots of lantana and other nasty bushes to stash the geocycle in near GZ too. With that done it was time to take the plunge.
I was able to walk some sections, but it was a bit skitchy in the bike shoes where the pipe was wet or muddy. Some sections were to low for me and I resorted to crawling. Remember crawling is still moving forward.
It did not take long to reach GZ and add my name to the log book.
Thanks for a truly awesome cache and making me come and ride some trails I do not visit often enough. [^]

Decided to make the trek into this cache with Brother Colin and IolantheK.
We decided on a top of the hill down the Pipe line Track approach parking at the end of Highwood Road.
Once we got about half way down we crossed over to the Tunnel Trail, and the tunnel
Now if I did this cache again I'd approach it the same way but would come in on the MTBs, would be a great ride down the Pipe Line track
Back to the hunt, after squeezing through the opening we all hunched over and walked the Pipe. Note some of us didn't have to hunch as much as others, aye IolantheK
The Cache is dry, protected by its guardian bats and in good condition [^]
TFTC, PigWig2. A favourite point from me.

It's Sunday morning, and T-Tech, Brother Colin and I have decided we need to make this green box a smilie. Knowing this CO's penchant for interesting cache hunts we made sure to read the Description before setting off, and were suitably provisioned. We chose to park at the end of Highwood Rd to the north, made our way down Pipeline Trail, where the two fellas had fun pretending to be on their MTBs , then along Tunnel Trail.
We got to about 50 metres from GZ and figured we knew where we had to go, but decided to check for a different access further on. Shortly however, we headed back, kitted up and took the plunge That was lots of fun I had no trouble getting to GZ, but the boys were on their hands and knees, grumbling all the way Sometimes it's good to be small [^] There's a long snakeskin draped along the way, and one very confused little bat [|)] Don't think she much liked our bright lights And the cache was a quick find too. TFTC, and adventure PigWig2. A favourite point from me.

I beautiful Sunday morning and T-tech, IolantheK and myself decided that this cache would be a great way to start the day.
We parked close by and being keen MTB'ers we followed to MTB trails around the hills. There are some awesome tracks in the region and we were soon close to where we wanted to be. A bit of a detour and we were exactly where we wanted to be.
Out with the torches (good thing my GPSr has a torch because I forgot to bring one. ) and in we went. One member of the group was able to walk in while other had to crawl but we eventually got to GZ and found the cache. [^]
Now to retrace our path back to the world we know.
Thanks for an adventure cache.

A return visit to attack from the listed co-ords. Only problem was my in car navigational device kept dropping out and I overshot the turn to the parking spot and ended up at the lake. Fortunately my adventure partners, Ms Maddy and Ruzzelz were happy to wait for my arrival. It was a pleasant walk in to the cache site and I can see why Mr Lat Long coerced Ms Wig into taking responsibility, not enough hills. Of course the real adventure began about 70m from the cache and I took great delight slopping about in six inches of water and mounds of bat excrement. cache was easily found and with requisite paperwork completed we returned to the real world. An exciting cache, well done.
Sometimes a caching experience takes far longer than just going out for the walk. In the case of this cache I’m sure the CO spent a fair time undertaking research an planning. In my case as a cache finder I enjoyed this cache so much that it has stayed on my mind and I have been driven to find out the history.
Hence this story starts in 1880, with approval for a proposed water supply scheme - “Moggill and Enoggera Scheme”. Four extra dams (two more on Enoggera Creek, one on Gold Creek and one on Moggill Creek) would supplement the existing Enoggera reservoir. The Gold Creek dam would be connected with Enoggera Creek by pipe and supplemented by the Moggill Creek reservoir.
Experiments in pumping water from the Brisbane River to Gold Creek had been successful, and a system of aqueducts, pipes and ………… was proposed for a permanent connection. Water could be pumped over the ridges, crossing the valleys through syphon pipes.
While the regular use of water from Gold Creek was discontinued from 1919 ten years later, engineers decided to implement a proposal (first suggested in 1862). The project was completed in 1928 but it was only used on a few occasions when the Enoggera Dam’s level was particularly low. The dam and this place are the only reminders of Gold Creek’s part in Brisbane’s water supply.
The facility was first decommissioned in 1977 but the water supply to Enoggera Dam resumed in 1986 and continued up to 1991.
An excellent caching experience and a well-deserved favourite point from ruzzelz.

George wasn't very well prepared last week, but even so ended up getting to less than 10 metres of the cache, but found nothing.
Today, I set out better prepared with skis, kayak, portable floodlights and generator, spade, a packed lunch, beach umbrella, UHF CB radio, and lots of other stuff I ended up not using. Retraced steps of last week and bravely headed for the cache GZ. All in all, was a bit of an anticlimax with a quick sign of the log, and retreat back to the car.
Definitely you have been corrupted, Pigwig2, but I must confess by an expert in mean and sneaky caches. Couldn't have been too bad though, with less than an hour to get to the cache and return. TFTC, but please no more quite like this one.

I set out this arvo with great expectations and after studying a map and because of my location I figured an approach from the top of Gap Creek Rd would be a breeze. As I drew nearer to GZ I started to have a feeling that this was way too easy. I believe I know where GZ is but there was no way I could get there easily from here. I have a feeling the intrepid FTFers may have also taken this approach but unlike them I decided to beat a retreat, regroup and follow the CO's directions another day
WARNING: If you are to follow, read the description, come prepared and don't be ashamed to turn back.
The story starts about 5 hours after the FTF. I had decided that probably no one else would be crazy enough to chase after this one at night so I put little boyo to bed and got some kip and woke up at about 3:00am with the intention of strolling out to have a looksy. After checking the listing I discovered I had badly misjudged the local FTF appetite, so back to bed for me.
This was probably a good thing for a number of reasons, but mostly because my log would have been a lot less exciting than those of the bold First Trio. Yes I have definitely learnt that if LLJ is associated with a cache that ignoring way points is not a good idea (though there is discussion as to whether or not ignoring the cache altogether is a pretty sound plan. [:0]).
So Redemption slipped onto my 'soon' list and I got busy with all that real life that happens when you're not caching. Meerkats was keen however and didn't fancy going alone, so after one attempt to start which got interrupted by severe storms, we finally set out early on a lovely morning from Highwood.
Now if you've read the logs you'll see that those who went before had trouble with this, but I was, for once prepared and we had a great walk along ridge before heading down the huge track down to the waypoint (the trick being that you walk past the cache before turning downhill, either that or you can schlep through lantana, your choice).
I was pretty happy with this route because you get the great views and we had really good weather for the walk. It was a little bit cooler after the rain and the early light was really pretty.
There was the steep downhill and we spotted the trail head and made our way along. We were a bit surprised to find a trail marker with the name of the track on it. Maybe there is a ranger with a sense of humor near by...
A little past that and we were at that part of the cache. I will skip the details so as to not spoil the fun for the next finders, but I will say I am happy that my boots are waterproof; and that I did manage to put my hand in a huge pile of guano.
The walk back was as pleasant as the walk down and I was glad to be with the Meerkats because in my early morning vagueness I would have ended up walking down to the reservoir before realizing I missed the turn off back to Highwood.
We finished the morning's adventures with a celebratory breakfast at the Brookfield General Store. Doesn't get much better than that.
Thanks guys for a truly memorable cache. Favorite point to follow (this is about 20 finds and some catching up with logging away).
