Logs

11-Nov-24
The final cache for the afternoon (pretty much evening by now!) I parked where suggested and made my way up and down the slope. Bit of a dodgy spot around the parking co-ordinates. Made my way across the ridgeline and finally made it to GZ in the dying light. Made my way up the embankment where I thought the cache was, to no avail. Then I saw it was a micro. Was going to leave it for another day when I decided to return down the embankment a bit further along. Then I spotted it. What a shame it has become dislodged. Would have been a great cache in its prime. Perhaps the CO may wish to return in order to return it to form. A short search later and the log was in hand. A great little walk along the ridgeline. Thanks for the cache MinkosDes!

Came for an entire and this cache did not disappoint. After making our way to GZ I knew where I needed to be, unfortunately I had a slide/fall and lost my pen. Amazing cache, can see why I has so many fave points. Thank you for a Saturday adventure, just what I needed. TFTC

15-Jun-24
Well it was an off-road adventure for sure. Recommend good shoes or boots. But well worth it. TFTC.

05-Aug-23
This geocache was on my bucket/target list given its high Favourite Point (FP) count, with it 38 FPs accumulated as of the time of my visit.
This was my first geocache find for the day, and so after exiting off the freeway, I parked in the relevant waypoint, and descended down on to the track. It was actually quite tough scrambling down to the old track, and I actually fount it a little easier to ascend back on to the street 20-30 m prior to the waypoint. Anyway, apart from that, I followed the instructions and soon arrived at GZ to make the find. The cache wasn't tethered and it was hidden at the base. The cache container and logbook were in good shape, although the container was looking a little aged unfortunately. I could see what was the potential of this one, and perhaps it just needs a little TLC. A fun adventure and nice spot for a hide; Thanks MinkosDes for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

----------

Today, following my usual Saturday morning activities of parkrun and baby Cottontail gym, I ventured north with the kayak loaded in order to attend the Maroochy River CITO event. I skirted around Nambour initially to grab a couple of geocaches, before proceeding to Dunethin Rock Boat Ramp, and then I kayaked along the Maroochy River joining other CITO event attendees, finishing up at Vee Road. We car shuffled a small group, and then I finished up the day along Yandina - Bli Bli Road and detouring through Forest Glen.

16-Mar-23
Tftc, from the entry point , followed the ledge along. Plenty of traffic flying past.
Cache in good condition.
Thanks

11-Oct-22
After a lovely walk up and around Mt Ninderry I headed into Yandina for a look around and to grab some caches and then a couple more on the way home.
This was to be the last one for today.
Found my way to the correct level and made my way to GZ. Found the different cache. Then I couldn’t find the log but it was located on the ground. Log signed and replaced as I thought it should be.
Nice idea for a cache.

Easy to find

MinkosDes I found your cache Highway Hideaway (READ ME) on 27/6/2022, 11:25 am. This is my find 3618 and find # 3 today. Loved this adventure. Took some time to find the best way in. Found a way, wear decent boots there are a lot of rocks. Think I found the right way as the meters were decreasing. Crossed two fallen trees then an easy walk to GZ. At GZ I didn’t get shot. Well thought out cache. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN

I saw this cache on my map a while back when planning future missions and it kinda stood out for a few reasons.
Firstly i was so intrigued by the description and the amassed favourite points it started to get some priority, when i saw it's last log just scraped into 2019, i had an eyebrow raised.
So today in a fit of spontaneity, i started to beeline a walk towards it from the centre of town.
Enroute, i put the thought out for a possible team effort and was given the prompt thumbs up, so i sat back at the trailhead a while to whittle some time.

Later, when we came around an alternate route, slowly made our way across the semi open rocky plateau ducking and weaving the odd ferocious tree limb and clinging spiderlike vines until we got to nearish where we needed to be, and not long later the big-grin-cache at gz.
Sadly it would appear the means also of putting our signatures to paper here were dashed, so we donated a new set to help any future hunters.

Also i saw a snake on the way, albeit a little one, poor little thing was petrified of me..... luckily?

Thanks minkosdes for bringing me out here up above the highway to find a geocache.

I would have passed this road about a million times and never dreamed there’d be a cache in *that* spot. To be very honest, I would never have ventured along that ridge if 1)I didn’t have a caching buddy with me and 2)if it weren’t for all those glorious unloved months on the find. I parked in the nominated spot and made my way down to the entry point, which had been scoped out already. He showed me the steep cliff to which I promptly said NUP. Luckily we found a gentler way in by venturing further down the hill. Easy peasy. The walk to GZ was interesting and adventurous and pretty much safe, and then almost at the end of the line there it was. The cool container was worth it, without a doubt. Took us a few minutes to determine where the log was meant to be, and how to retrieve it. We shot some swag out but nothing else. After fully assessing we determined it was gone. The container was on the ground, no longer fixed to its spot, and the device had been pointing down the hill. Small Wombat had a search around for it in case it had fallen out but we decided (due to the length of time between finds) that it was long gone. So we have replaced the film canister with a small black bison and the next finder will get the full effect of the fun. Aside from that the container is in excellent condition and fully functioning. We replaced it in its hiding spot but made sure it was secure and the log facing uphill, just in case. Thanks for another awesome find Minkosdes, even if the views were overlooking the Ibis Day Spa

A maintenance run is being locked in for the coming weeks...

30-Dec-19
On our property, good one

18-Jul-19
Well that was different!
I wonder if anyone noticed us walking along here while they were driving past?
It was a bit of an adventure! The entry point is rather overgrown with lantana but we found our way in.
The cache was easily spotted and Nyssaflutterby did the hard work here while I kept her phone safe.
A very different location for a cache!

18-Jul-19
What an adventure!
I'm sure the people on the highway thought wombles and myself were a bit crazy Razz Once at GZ the cache was spotted easily. I volunteered to do the logging duties.

Thanks for the cache MinkosDes Big Grin

27-Mar-19
We found ourselves having to make a trip up to the Sunshine Coast today, and with the Creation Carnival promotion by Geocaching HQ, we decided to target a few caches with high favourite points allocated to gain the various souvenirs Razz

We located this cache easily enough and with our name added to the log book, we continued on our way Cool

Thank you MinkosDes for placing the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy Big Grin

I’ve driven to Gympie a few times over the years and have often looked at this cache planning for the time I could one day attack it. After a caching mission in Nambour I was making my way home to mow the weeds and this was the opportunity to shine like a diamond above the highway.

I started walking along the rocky embankment and noticed the flattest place to walk was right near the edge. I decided it was better to walk slowly on the rocks. At least if I sprained an ankle and then fell off the cliff the coroner would rule out stupidity as the cause of death. Although if he or she saw my face that would be a difficult assumption to make.

It came time to climb up to the cache and so I grabbed a few trees to lever myself up. I found the cache but spent some time trying to work out where the log was. I found myself staring down a bullet until I saw the log and container on the ground. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. tftc

To enjoy geocaching you have to be a little bit crazy and this cache proves it!
Found cache which has been unvisited for nearly 8 months.
Great cache MinkosDes but it is now time to visit cache and renew broken bonds.

22-Dec-17
Found with Geowife Dora the Explorer. A big of rack scrambling involved so wear good footwear

18-Dec-17
I was in Nambour today and had a little bit of time after an appointment. This cache was recommended to me by Dora the Explorer!.

I followed the instructions carefully and had not trouble in working out where I had to go. The little bit of climbing required was fun.

Soon spotted the cache and had to think a little bit how to retrieve to log. After that was worked out the log was signed and returned to the cache as found.

All is good with this cache.

Find #1174

As with many cached hidden by this CO, the effort that goes into them are well worthy of a favourite points and this one will get one from me.

Wow what a good cache! Favourite from us. TFZtC

17-Sep-17
My native American forebears would say that when you are making your way through the bush, leave no footprint, turn no stone and touch nothing. Nothing doing here. It was all I could do to hang on to something as I slid down rocky slopes Surprised. Walking along the ridge I almost turned my ankle twice as rocks rolled under my feet. My great-grandparents would be proud Razz. I really enjoyed the cache once I made it to gz. Proper cache ejection technique employed. Thanks for a great hide MD. Have an fp on me.

26-Aug-17
Stortigirls and I made our way to this one. We parked the geomobile, then enjoyed the walk to GZ. What we found there made us laugh. TFTC.....and a FP from me.

26-Aug-17
Having read the description and the previous logs, Selva Girls and I parked relatively close to gz and braced ourselves for the walk in. Not as hard as we expected, and so worth it when we discovered the clever cache container. Take another favourite point MinkosDes and tftc!

06-Aug-17
Mrs RoddyC and I spent the weekend at the Event at Dunethin Rocks, picking up a few caches here and there . Grannysmith1947 and RhoBoCacher have joined us caching on the trip home.

Definitely have to read the directions! But you can park further up than directed and just follow the fence line. Bit hairy in places but we all made it

Brilliant cache - I was spot on target for Mrs RoddyC to make a catch!

Log signed and replaced. Found at on 6th August 2017. TFTC, MinkosDes.

06-Aug-17
On the way home from the event I decided to join RoddyC and Grannysmith to do a few more caches and why not? What a bush bash and a lil scary at times for me, Im sure im not the only one but it was a cool cache and it took us a lil while to get this one after we had a think we then had cache in hand. FP awarded for this one. TFTC Smile

06-Aug-17
TFTC smile 3150# out and about with Mr & Mrs RoddyC and RhoBoCacher and Miss Millie Packed our tents and Mr RoddyC said lets pick up a couple more before we go so we followed him like good geocacher Just one more before we go just one more 1234and now 5 I left after this one but Mr& Mrs RoddyC and RhoBoCacher went for more

08-Apr-17
Parked up at given coords and made my way in at the start of the trail, wandered along the embankment watching the traffic on the Bruce until I got at right angles to the cache before heading up the bank to GZ and what a great cache it was too. Enjoyed playing with this one and definitely deserves a favourite point from us. TFTC MinkosDes Smile

21-Feb-17
Very clever very fun

13-May-16
Out finding some caches out Nambour way today and had to make my way to this one, took a bit of searching but I eventually found the right path, through a few trees, along the path wondering what all the passing motorists are thinking of me. eventually I get a few meters away from GZ, and scramble up to the spot, a bit of a search around, then I turn around and see the obvious cache, a fun little surprise and the cache was signed Smile
A bit more slip and sliding and scraping past some trees and I made it back to the car Smile
Thanks for another interesting cache MinkosDes Smile

19-Mar-16
I has stopped here a few weeks ago to look for this cache. I spent about 5 minutes wondering why I could not find it when nobody else seemed to have had any trouble. I resorted to the iphone and discovered that it had been taken off line between the time I loaded my pocket query to the GPSr and the time I arrived at GZ. [:o)]

I noticed that it was all good to go again so I stopped on my way to Noosa today.

A bit of a longer walk now, but still only a few minutes to GZ for a nice quick find. Saw a funky shroom near the start of the "trail". Big Grin

A favourite point for making something that is a bit different. Cool Always nice to see something that I have not seen before. Nicely done. [^]

While camping at Yandina .. I just had to go out and find a few caches ..
All Good .. TFTC .. Smile

This geocache has had a major maintenance session including a relocation to a much more private area. The previous location was being visited by more 'Night Muggles' then Geocachers. That factor, with the addition of a change in the environment meant that the geocache was becoming to prone to muggling.

This cache is being disabled for maintaince. A new log is required, so I thought I would use this visit to give the cache a spring clean (and do a little CITO'ing of the area around the cache).

This cache should be back up and running in the next week.

Happy caching!

out with mojojohjo and this was our first stop. took us a while to find the track. great cache and good fun. Smile gracias minkosDes

07-Feb-16
After wondering if we had found the right trail entrance we found what we thought would be a good place for scrambling down to part two of the trail. Loved the cache container, great!! TFTC

06-Feb-16
After the event today, had a chance to collect a few more local caches that I'd missed the last time this way.

Great idea, love the dispenser. a fav point
All Cool with the cache, found a vacant last line at the bottom of the log sheet to sign. Better bring a new log sheet soon, Sunday morning 7th @ 0600 would be fine, Big Grin

Genyo and I were holidaying in the area and this cache was next on our list. After parking at the appropriate area we had a little search for the best access point and began the walk. Genyo was already cut and bruised from previous caches this morning so I found it a little entertaining watching him make his way to the cache. We spotted the cache easily enough, the log is rather full but we managed to sign our names. Normally we'd add a new log however used our spare on a previous cache. Thanks for a great cache Smile favourite point!

03-Jan-16
Had a lovely weekend in the area caching and seeing the local sites with Dawesy321. We were heading home and doing some caching.

All the caches felt like they required battles through spiders, wait-a-whiles, mud etc and so when I saw the terrain rating on this one I was almost ready to give it a pass (already had a few cuts on my legs from other caches today - really must remember to bring my gators!).

Anyway when we arrived at GZ we started heading what we thought would be the best way but the lantana was too thick so we had to back track. With all the favourite points I didn't know what to expect - honestly I was half expecting a great view of the Bruce Highway.

After trying another entrance we made more progress and I noticed something I thought must have been the cache and sure enough it turned out to be the cache. But even after seeing it, it still took some time to get down there.

Loved the container and the idea! Fav pitied point!

Now to escape... Well I thought I'd be smart and try a more direct exit - Dawesy321 thought I was nuts and headed off the way we came. He turned out to be right as I had much scrambling and holding onto grass needed to get up.

Got back to the car more bruised and battered by glad we had made the effort for a great cache! TFTC

17-Nov-15
First we followed the trailhead up the hill, but went to the wrong direction. Then watched for another, easier way and we found one. The cache was unexpected and very funny, TFTC! Smile

We were heading up to Nana's on Sunday afternoon with Geodaughter and I asked her i she would like to find a cache with me....'that would be fun Dad!'. Parked on Rifle Range Road as suggested and we had fun climbing up and down! I acted as a stop for Geodaughter.....the highway looks very different from this perspective.

Compass said we were 7m away but when i looked right in front of me I assumed but the clever container that we had found the prize! But where is the log........oh haha! Clever clever! After I had 8 goes the Geodaughter wanted a go too...ppfftt kids spoiling my fun!

We signed the log and replaced as found. Thanks for bringing us here for a different look at the world........this earns a favourite from us!

Thanks for the tremendous effort on this cache MinkosDes!!!

Reason: Due to the harsh weather last week, the area where this cache is located has been severely affected. Many tress in the area, including the one this cache was located on, have fallen.

The cache is still accessible and may be found, just not in the manner the CO intended. The cache will be back up and running soon.

On the way to my sisters and thought I'd quickly grab this one.

Lying in bed, I thought DiamonJs was doing the FB bit when I hear a get up we got to go do this cache now, hmm I am here to compete, nope it has to be done now. She gives me no time for breakfast, got to go, arrive, park, hmm now how to get there, ok lets bush bash, so in we go, hmm nothing, then I hear turn around and look at that, ok how to get log, not here, not here, try this oh that was fun, sign log, have a couple more goes. Time now to return for our competition. Thanks for the laughs to start our day. Great cache and gets a definite fav point from me. TFTC

13-Feb-15
Staying at the Showgrounds and of course you have to look up nearby caches, that many favourites, come on Rusty85 this is a must do before the comp starts. We parked, definitely took the bush bash way in, looked, Hmm turned around and ha ha that's funny but now to retrieve log. Wow great idea, a definite fav point from me. TFTC

11-Feb-15
Now this has been the most interesting find on this trip by far! After making our way to the GZ, Tiki 3 tried to convince me he saw the cache, and pointed it out to me.

Nope, that's not it ... it can't be ... but after further fruitless searches, made our way back there, only to realise he was right the whole time! Teaches me not to trust an eleven year old!

Now we've found it, the trick to extract the log was also deciphered by Tiki 3, which pretty much made me feel useless on this cache hunt!

Fittingly, as per Tiki 3's request, this had to be a new favourite! TFTC.

This cache took us ages to find. After reading previous logs we were very intrigued and were determined to find it. We were glad we persisted. What an awesome container. We extracted the log to sign it and returned it to its hiding place. A favourite point from us. Please note that the outer container has become an ants nest!!

18-Jan-15
We were in the area today and had time to stop and have a look for this one.
We parked at the designated waypoint and found the faint geotrail and followed it until we reached GZ.
Took a little while to find the right spot and then when we did it was a bit of a surprise. Smile
Had a couple of turns getting the log book out and then we signed it and returned it all the way we found it. This is a cool cache and I'm happy to award it a favourite point. Very Happy
Good work MinkosDes. Thanks for placing an interesting cache!

07-Jan-15
Thanks MinkosDes for using your imagination...

I love it when you go to a cache thinking its just a quick park and grab and it turns out so much more than that.

05-Jan-15
I was out with team benders today, I met her at one of my caches after a request to come assist with the opening of my puzzle cache (They had unlocked it but didnt want to open for fear of breaking it) she here asked me if I wanted to company her on a run of some of the newer caches in the area.

I rushed home to grab the geo gear and out we went stop one to performe maintenance on a cache in Caloundra and then we were free to make a run on some of the newer caches on that end of the coast, one of these was "A 'Cache' in the Hand..." (Highly Recommended Find) which we enjoyed so much we just had to do another MinkosDes cache!!!

This was the one we choose, after a quick tour / cache run of Palmwoods due to turning off at the wrong nambour turnoff we came up to this amazing cache! We parked at the designated zone and climbed up to the top of the small ridge.

I followed team benders to GZ bending over to dodge eye level twigs and vines all the way, where to my extreme enjoyment I discovered another MinkosDes awesome cache! We had to re extract the log about 6 times before signing and another 3 afterwards due to the 'coolness' of the cache! So much fun! If I hadnt needed to be home we would still be there now!

I have never seen a cache such as this, it is a very original idea and I enjoyed it thoroughly! All is good here at this cache MinkosDes, this is truly a Highway Hideaway absolutely worthy of another well earned favorite point!

I really look forwards to finding another of your awesome caches MinkosDes and hope you continue to publish quality caches the likes of the two I had the pleasure of finding today! I will indeed be keeping a lookout for anymore coming!

That's awesome. So cool.

Kerry and Luke were on a mission today - to finish off our "15 Years Of No Love" Challenge before the end of the year. This brought us to the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Our guest cacher for today's journey was dahumbug.

We agreed to meet at this cache, he said we would like it and he was not wrong! We haven't had a good laugh like that from a cache in a long time!

Definite favourite point to add to the already impressive tally. TFTC, MinkosDes.

Parked at the suggested spot and headed off to where I needed to be.
Soon spotted the cache and stood there looking at it.
I had a little chuckle as I had just used one of these this morning.
Mine is in bright yellows and greens.
Retrieved the log, that was great fun.
Always love doing something at GZ.

With a cache needed today (xmas day) to fill my calendar challenge and this being the next closest to home that I could try to locate b4 the family arrived I parked in the spot recommended and followed the GPS into the bush, I looked in the usual spots for a usual container and came up with nothing, a further gaze around and then something fun was sighted a quick inspection and an action revealed a cache container and then the logsheet was signed Smile all replaced, like the others I had a further play then returned to the geomobile.
MinkosDes - TFTC.
And a fav point too

24-Dec-14
Published while I was away and nice and close to home...660 metres in fact. I never thought I would get another one in that <1km zone, but I was wrong.

Nice cache too MinkosDes, way better than the one I had planned 130 metres up the road ;-P

I am on my way north to Dad's place for Xmas. Smile
So a quick detour for a cache is a must. Razz
A quick find here in the dark .... no it was not. Wink

Now to find the log book ........ OK that worked ..... now to find the log book .... got it, signed and returned. Smile
That was something a little different. A fav point from me.
Thanks for the cache.

After attending a funeral nearby we thought we would stop for me to get this one since we were passing anyway. Not exactly in bush bashing attire, I hoiked my skirt up somewhat and made my way to GZ.

A short drive from home with thehairbear this morning and we were soon parked at the suggested co-ords. A short stroll to GZ and the cache was soon found and it gave us both a laugh. Extracting the container had to be done a coujple of times so that we both enjoyed the fun.

Once the log was signed all was returned as found.

A favourite point from me for making the micro intersting and fun. I may have to go back and find it again just for fun. RazzSmile

*FTF* @ 7:04 am. #765 ~ Woke up this morning and refreshed the cache to make sure nobody had been overnight. Sure enough, it looked promising. Got to the parking spot and the coast was still clear. Made my way to GZ, found the cache and thought I was going to have to go back to the car for a tool. Some manipulation and soon had the cache in hand, gleefully. Returned to the car and was met by electro_man. Thank goodness for a body clock that has me up at dawn. Excellent cache. Well worth the wait. TFTC MinkosDes Smile

Late finish at work then off to this spot on the way home ~ 1930h. Missed the turn off on the first pass so had to do a loop up the highway and back around before parking. Red Face
Unfortunately I had taken my caching bag out of the car yesterday so only had the phone torch. It was a spooky scramble through the bush alternating between gps and torch (both on phone) as I could not use both at once. Razz
It was a miracle that I eventually spotted a cable tie and went to investigate. Yahoo! Found something that had to be what I was looking for. Great "camouflage" and fitting to the location! Retrieved the smaller container in a shot and signed the log with the torch starting to flash on and off at this point - very annoying! Took some very skew if photos as I couldn't see where I was aiming and reassembled everything. Very cool. Cool
Luckily, I found a much clearer trail back out, being able to use the torch continuously. Big Grin I think the terrain rating could be a bit higher though. A favourite point for a great idea!
