#16483. Just about got driven away empty-handedby the barking dog, but we kept at it and were pleased to make the find. TFTC.
Day #3 of our four day caching trip to Palmerston North. Today the forecast was perfect for an assault on the Stickman series - fine with light winds in the morning. The weather turned out as forecast, with great views especially along the ridge and it took under four hours from start to finish.
Back in Ashhurst after a morning chasing stickmen, we stopped by this cache. A tucked away wee reserve, but pity about the barking neighbourhood dogs. We set off three, and the one that just about drove us away was inches from where we were searching. We had one more look and there was the cache, so signed and vamoosed as quickly as possible. Thanks for bringing me here and TFTC.

It's been quite a caching weekend for me. I was hosting a Geocaching event here in Palmerston North on Saturday evening, so came up on Friday after work to stay over with friends. They kindly put me up a second night too, which has allowed me to spend today getting out and about to clear up some caches I've not attempted before as part of a very leisurely journey back down south again.
It was drizzling a bit as I parked up and started walking towards GZ, so I was hoping for a quick find. Being a Sunday morning, the whole area was very quiet which allowed me plenty of opportunity to be able to search around GZ without having to be super stealthy and luckily this one was spotted very quickly indeed due to its bright colour in contrast to its location.
So it was a quick sign of the logbook, and then replaced exactly as discovered and I was then on my way to my next one.
Thank you for placing this cache, and bringing me to yet another place I haven't been to before.

#11,388. Enjoyed exploring this little Salisbury Reserve in Ashhurst. GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. Looked around the first spot, but nothing. Widened the area a little and found after a short search. A tricky little hide. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.
Thanks for the placement, and for bringing us to this site, and …

Said I would be back and back I was. This time with a hint from the cache owner and I still found it hard to find. Very clever hide! TFTC.
2nd attempt at this one and the same result. I normally log my dnfs but cannot find the log for the first dnf. Searched the same spots with no luck and just my luck the rain started to get heavy. I will be driving passed this a few more times so will try again in better weather.
On a caching trip to the Manawatu as I had to get out and get some fresh air after being in the office all week. Started off in Ashhurst and made my way west to Feilding. A quick find. TFTC

Had a swing on the maypole before heading home to the Naki TFTC thanks Haydn.seek
Strange little reserve - what a nice gesture to the community. Cache well- concealed. TFTC
Found while driving around the North Island while touring around from Australia.. TFTC
I had a few minutes to spare before work today and this was nearby. I headed off to GZ, following google maps in my car. Firstly it took me to the wrong place to access the reserve from. After using some visual cues an entrance to the park was found. Had a brief look around, couldn't see it. Update stored log (yes, it was 71 days old!). Pleased to see it should be here. Finally located the sneaky cache.
Now back home, writing a proper log and I realise this whole process would have been a whole heap easier had I read the description to start with. Oh well. Found, signed, replaced. Time to carry on.

Checked this out, Logbook jammemed in a crack so that was afe, but the cache itself was in two parts with one crucial part gone!! but now all replaced. happy hunting but please please return so it cant be seen by the players in the reserve!!
hope to check on this in a couple of weeks.. unfortunately my nephew who lives there is currently away so he cant check it instantly for me.
Had some trouble finding the entrance and then locating the cache, until I looked over by the fence and found a strip of log sheet on the ground. So maybe the condainer isgone, because I didn't see one. Signed the sheet anyway and jammed it back on to the fence. TFTC anyway
Have been here a few times looking for this cache! Always been put off by the big dogs. But today was different! Finally a smiley from us! (Sans dogs this time.) TFTC.
This was fortunate that just spotted a tell-tale and this lead to the cache. It could easily been hidden a little to the left and wouldn't have been spotted.
Interestingly, the family member we have been staying with used to live on the other side of this fence- not quite sure where though.

Took a little while to find but I can say it's definitely at the location just hang in there
GPS kept jumping and we didn't have much luck today. Will attempt again another day
#2909. I am heading north today to the Mega event in Turangi. So decided to go via Ashhurst and west side of the Ruahines to pick up caches in an area I haven't yet covered since starting geocaching. The day started wet in Wellington but was reasonably good in the Manawatu, just a few light showers. This one took a while. Arrived at the park and checked the normal spots. Nothing found so started a careful feel for all places in the area. I actually guessed the hide type but spent too long looking in another area. Eventually spotted the tell tale evidence. Signed the dry log and replaced the cache I hope in the correct spot. Didn't actually see where it came from and I am wondering if it was meant to be tucked in somewhere? Thanks for hiding it here.
Tricky! Definitely not a newbie cache. Very clever. Master 15 found it just as we were about to walk away with a DNF.
After finding GC5KR1R - North Bridge (Manawatu), I was still a bit early for my appointment so I decided that since I was in the area that I might as well pick up another cache. I noticed that this was my nearest unfound cache so I decided that I would go and check it out.
As I was nearing GZ I had to find the entrance to this reserve and lucky for me that my phone had google maps and I soon worked out where I needed to park to gain entrance to this cache.
Managed to find a car park across the road from the entrance to this reserve and from here it was a short and easy walk to GZ, arriving near GZ I soon spotted a few likely hiding spots for the cache but on a closer look I didnt spot anything. Decided a different approach might be called for and as I did this I spotted something that didnt belong and after this I soon had the cache in hand. Opened to logbook to find that it was completely full but managed to find another spot to put my name, signed and replaced it back as found and then headed back to the car, another great spot for a cache, thanks for placing it here and for bringing me to this spot, glad it was mid week and there were no muggles around as it could have being quite hard to get otherwise, TFTC TNLNSL (10959)

An evil cache hide and congratulations to any newbie finding this one. It took some perseverance to find this cache. Maybe because I was a little shorter I struggled with this one.
no luck here today was a little uneasy as some very large dogs were barking hard out at me so i moved on
A very tricky hide. After spending a long time searching in all the obvious places, I was just giving up when I thought of 1 final place to look, and there it was. TFTC
Nice wee cache. Expected to take longer to find this but was the first place I looked. Found with zz60000
Heading over to Woodville, caching in along the way.
Already mid afternoon and so far we have only made it to Ashhurst.
Well hidden. Cheers.

Grab this on the way to Woodville but we are making so detours that we might not make it
Had to look for a little bit for this one, was a bit un-nerving with the dogs barking their heads off...thank goodness there was a high fence. Good hide, well done
Well this turned into quite a head scratcher embarrassingly enough
After sneaking past the guardian woof-woof we made our way down the tranquil pathway were we......
Spent a lot of time walking in circles... and occasionally squares.
what makes this all the worse for our sleuthing abilities is.......
one of my caches ( archived now) had a component which I hid in this very manner..... second face-palm for the day!
Needless to say cache extracted and formalities completed.
Did not play on the contraption-ma-bob, as Hyjynx told me not too
Cheers haydn.seek

[green] Out with haydn.seek to get the Almost Island cache as she was not up to it on her own. And a couple of others while there. In exchange we wandered around to here. What a cute little reserve!
Like a little forgotten woodland waiting fr children to arrive. Tftc.
Quick find here and a relax on the grass before heading on to grab some more caches. Tftc
nice tricky hide gps had me everywhere, but was so pleased to find it, neighbour was playing with daughter in the treehouse.tftc
Having MTBiked the Riverside cycle series it was time to wander around town to see if I can find some more caches. Found the reserve but the GPSr was wandering around a bit but settled and put me very close to GZ where I stood and looked around and saw what lead me to the cache. A nice little private park for the neighbours. Thanks for the placement haydn.seek.
Really enjoyed the caches over this way....especially on a great sunny day like today.

I was on a day trip with my mum (SunnyBunny64) and Nickhbnz and his son Lucas. Had a go at finding this one myself but it turned out that it was a little out of my reach. Had some fun on the maypole that was nearby. TFTC
2 adult cachers and 2 geo kids on a road trip from Napier to Palmerston North seeing how many caches we can log on our way! Once we got to GZ 2 dogs over the fence starting barking and making quite a bit of noise but we didn't let it put us off finding the cache. We weren't expecting this type of hide but once Nick started looking it didn't take long at all to locate it. The kids were having a go on the may pole so we decided to join them, bad idea! The loops to hold onto were so low to the ground that as I ran around and then tried to swing on them my knees dug straight into the muddy ground and I came pretty close to face planting the ground!! It was a good laugh at my expense! It adds to a couple of mishaps I have already had along this trip haha TFTC
The junior cacher with us was determined to find this one on her own, but turned out to be just slightly out of her view, which meant it was up to me to find. The dogs were slightly un-nerving, so quickly signed and left for a quick play on the maypole. 28th find on our roadtrip to Palmerston North.
Surprised that this was a very quick find for us. Grass is a bit boggy after all the recent rain. tftc
Dropped by here after a run on the gorge track.
The second time we've been to this reserve for a cache, although we didn't find the first one because of being questioned by a neighbour, who wasn't very enthusiastic about us being there. Glad the neighbours know about this one. There wasn't a maypole then - a nice addition.
Wasn't too sure we were going to get this one either when "Cujo" started barking aggressively near where we wanted to look. And then several of his friends joined in. So glad there big fence's!!! Fortunately it was a quick find. Needless to say, we didn't linger.

After a 5th birthday party at the pool we popped down the road to grab this one. Do love it! Very clever & yet so simple! Tftc.
I quickly spotted this one.
After finding the cache, the kids had fun climbing the nearby tree and playing on the maypole.
Thanks.

A fairly quick find with markhnz, hayleyhnz and hannahhnz, after spotting something helpful. The maypole then saw some action. TFTC
Found with markhnz, hannahhnz and W.E.K.A.
We climbed the big tree and played on the maypole while we were there.

This would have been a great section with a house on it ! So Quiet. Mini Z had fun on the may pole whilst We searched around GZ before finding the way to the cache. Very clever Dog heard us and started barking as we left. TFTC
Another wee hidden gem, nice maypole, thanks for showing us Salisbury Reserve, TFTC.
stopped by today while in town for work.
A very quick find once at GZ.
Thanks for the hide, and helping me tick off another Dot day!

It was decided that three of us would meet up at the start of the gorge walk to tidy up some un-found caches in the area. Since I didn't start work until later I left early to pick up some caches on the way. I had an unsuccessful start to the day with a DNF and two unable-to-be-attempted caches as council workers were in the way.
We had a bit of time before meeting others at the cafe on the other side of the gorge so we attempted my last remaining caches in Ashhurst. Our GPS's were darting around abit and we searched all the logical places first. We expanded out search area and I quickly found the cache.
Thanks for the cache and the smiley. Found with Tommygun9 and Hunterhillson

Swung by this cache after Walking the shorter loop in the Gorge and before heading through the Gorge to the Cafe on the other side.
SpudNZ tried out the equipment before making the find.
This reserve is quite secluded and would almost be a shared backyard for the neighboring properties.

My Garmin kept pointing me to the same spot..co-ords are accurate..had to use extra geo-stealth as the dog over the fence knew something was happening..all was ok and found cache soon after..clever hide..TFTC!
On our way home from blueberry picking up the Pohangina valley and this looked like a good cache to pick up in order to keep our current caching streak going. Initially had us searching in the right location but without success and it was Jr. Cacher #2 who got a bit more adventurous and finally found it. TFTC.
what a cool little hidden area, almost like a massive back yard for the ones that have gates opening onto it.
well got to tree and people have been pulling bark off and there is quite a bit on the ground, soon had cache in hand thanks to kalebs keen eyes tftc

My first cache for 2015. I was with CO when she was looking for some where to put a cache in this small reserve. Thanks for the cache.
