I'm ditching dad again and heading down south for the Mega in Dunedin. During this trip I managed to do many things and meet many people over the 2 weeks I was away. Thanks to all the cache owners and other cachers for making this trip enjoyable.Day 4 of the trip. Todays adventure is Danseys pass. A great lot of caches but I struck a large hurdle towards the end of the day with not only 1 but 3 punctures. So had to get into dunedin via a 2hr tow truck ride. A nice quick find. TFTCAll logs on this trip were signed by any of the following:Taybee NZ,TBNZ,TNZ,TB/D (When I was out with mother)
Biked past here yesterday but decided we were near by and I could come back by van and pick up the caches that I missed yesterday when the weather turned to a strong wind and very unpleasant weather for caching. Thanks erninz for the cache
Finally getting a chance to stop for caches through the pass! Lovely day and no one around. TFTC!!
Found at the new giant. So many thistles here that only a dedicated cacher will attempt to reach the giant. TFTC
Looks like new giants have made their home here now. Cache found too quick, raised slightly above the obvious.
A quick easy find with JuJu54 of this recently replaced cache, added to the series after we found the others. TFTC
The road is still closed, has been since the flooding and it will be at least a month before it reopens as snow has settled now.
Sounds like this may have been a casualty of the pylon upgrade.
Will check when the pass is reopened
Will check when the pass is reopened
Easter family adventures. After a night in Timaru and a morning bike through another section of the A2O we were now heading for Danseys Pass and Naseby for a few nights. With family in tow and needing to get to Naseby there were far too many caches through the pass to get them all - so just stopped at a few. This was one along the way - thanks. A cool contrast with the landscape....
I was trying to finish a library book when KR stopped but then I felt like being a nosey parker parker for this one. Tftc
This took a wee bit of time to find, so much so Ms_KR got out of the car to help. thanks.
Ms_KR and I decided to have an extended Show Weekend break, so today we headed for Naseby. A lovely day and plenty of little distractions was had by all!
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

I started my great and unique round trip over the South Island in Christchurch.
My first major stopover was at Lake Tapeko - here I hiked up to Observation Mountain.
I then planned two days in Mount Cook NP with some unforgettable hikes. My big goal was the Mueller Hut - on a super strenuous hike I reached it.
I continued my journey over the lonely Danseys Pass to Dunedin.
Afterwards I drove along the Southern Scienic Route via Invercargill to Manapouri for some days. On this route I visited many sights and enjoyed the beautiful nature again and again.
I already booked a tour to the Doubtful Sound in advance - another highlight on my tour.
Afterwards I drove on to Queensown and Wanaka. From there I continued over the Haast Pass to the lonely Jackson Bay with storm and heavy rain. Afterwards I drove along the west coast always in pouring rain.
The rain stopped the whole west coast, but I had good rainwear with me. Only high up in Nelson the sun shone again.
Soon I reached the east coast again in Picton and Blenheim and the sun was shining again.
After a few days I travelled back to Christchurch via the beautiful town of Kaikoura.
At the end of my round trip I spent a few more days in Christchurch and its surroundings.
I visited many geological sites and found many caches on my round trip. In Rangiora I visited an event.
I travelled 3418 km and take home a lot of positive experiences.
Thanks to many beautiful caches I was also shown unique locations, historical sites and geological features.
I am overwhelmed by the fantastic and ever changing nature on the South Island of New Zealand - I will definitely come back.
Many thanks to all owners

Boneybruce and I are stranded south of the Rangitata with both bridges closed, so making the best of a bad situation and checking out some back country I've never been through before, but had my eye on for some time. A nice quick find here - a dash out of the car, just a little bit of rain now... TFTC!!!

Decided to make a trip to Duntroon over the Dansey Pass. Lots of logs to find and sign and this one was one of them. TFTC
#16889. We were on our way down from the pass, and parked in the access track to the giant. Didn't take long to get up the track and find the cache. TFTC.
Found with StreetWalker on a big day, starting in Duntroon at about 8:30am, and finishing in Clyde, via Danseys Pass, nine hours and 62 caches later . A fantastic trip with great views and interesting places.
My GPSr locked up here, and while I was taking the batteries out to reboot it, SW trekked up to find the cache. TFTC.

On a caching trip with Kerynz to celebrate our joint 25th wedding anniversary with our respective partners. A double wedding 25 years ago and now we geocache regularly! TFTC GC5JHXN
After a lovely afternoon and evening at Danseys Pass Coach Hotel with Grapea and our other halves we continued along the Pass, taking the longer way home and lots of stops. Quick find here. Tftc
Being a power line geek this one was right up my alley. Miss my old job of following these big towers around in a 4x4. Great cache and worthy in my opinion of receiving a Fav Point. Tftc
11.20: On the way from Naseby to Fairlie. For the second time we went over Danseys. Two years ago in really bad weather, so we tried again in hope for better visibility and views. Not that much to tell here: quick find right beside the road.
Weather: overcast, 20°C;
Wheelchair: on the road only, slope, tussock, close enough to watch;
State: all good.
Thank you!

Another cache in the Westward Ho series found. Quick easy find on the way home. This is such a scenic drive, just love it through here.
As we drove along, we thought this might be the feature we were looking for.
+ a glass pebble, - nothing.

I'm from Norway, escaping the cold winter and travelling around New Zealand for 7 weeks, using geocaching as my tourguide. Today I drove from Glenavy to Dunedin over Danseys Pass. I really really enjoyed this powertrail, the scenery just got more and more spectacular the further I got!! It was a good place to have a powertrail, there were hardly no cars, and the caches were hidden in spots where it was easy to park the car. All the caches were quickly found with good hints, that's the way I like powertrails to be. I only had dnf on two caches, that's because I didn't allow myself to spend time searching if I didn't find it instantly. I would never have known about this pass if it wasn't for all the caches that showed up on the map, so thank you sooo much for placing and maintaining them. I really enjoyed this drive. I'm adding a couple of favourite-points on the caches I liked the most. Thank you for all the caches!
I guess they are a necessary evil in this day and age but they are still a blot on the beautiful landscape. TFTC # 11,494
Geofest Oamaru is over but our (The Seagnoid, Toby, Zara & I) epic adventure continues - Day 4 Danseys Pass - another 'must do'. The weather is drizzly, so its raincoats and gummies for the day.
Another quick snag and tag along our travels. Cheers
Another quick snag and tag along our travels. Cheers
The Geofest ended yesterday, but Taybeedragon and I are still going strong. It was raining. Again. Rather than get walking or cycling somewhere, we are getting wet driving Dansey's Pass, the slow way.
A enjoyable days drive through Danseys Pass and down State Highway 87 to Mosgiel. Lots to stop and look at along the way. Not to mention a few to stop and look for as well. Cheers and TFTC
With a small amount of drizzle we were able to still visit many caches and see areas we have not yet visited, thanks for the placement we have enjoyed each cache and where is has brought us.
Have messaged the CO with answers, now logging to keep th order.
Heading to the Oamaru Geofest with a group of like minded people, and collecting a few caches along the way....
Travelling with NZTravellers, UncleSamNZ, and KeyLev we signed in as 'SEAC17' to save logbook space.
Thank you to all the CO's for placing caches along the route.

More details on find later - editing: What would we do without these giants I wonder - back to the old days of the early pioneers. Now wouldn't that shock a lot of people that wouldn't be able to cope.
Day 3 of my Oamaru GeoFest week. Naseby to Oamaru today.
Expecting dust, dust and more dust and so far we have had just that along with awesome views.
KCN took the low approach while I took the high approach. One of us soon had the container in hand.
Thanks for the smilie.

We arrived in Dunedin today and traveled to Oamaru for the 2017 Geofest through Ranfurly, Nasbey and Danseys Pass. We attempted many caches throughout the long hot day and as it was the Geofest we bumped into fellow geocachers as well as a few muggles along the way. We were travelling with Keylev, UncleSam, Stik-a-Crane so to save log paper signed as Team SEAC 17.
Thanks to all the COs for the caches along the route.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)… Our journey to the bottom of the South Island has been almost two years in the planning. We were determined to make it to Oamaru Geofest. We decided to also factor in completing a couple of missions (JASMER and Virtual challenges), and the wheels started turning...
Day Three: Arrowtown-Haast-Naseby
We were determined to get as far along the Danseys Pass Road before turning back to Naseby. This 'dirt track' was scary if you allowed yourself to dwell on it. I would hate to cross here in winter or bad weather. But obviously many have made this trip and survived. Another quick find... TFTC.

DAY 3
We decided to go to the top of the Danseys and work our way back to Naesby so able to collect all caches on return trip. Great driving Road. SLTFTC

Planned a bit of a trip up Dansey's from Ranfurly to get a few caches. But halfway up decided to go all the way over and back via the Pigroot. Unfortunately I was unprepared and hadn't stored all the caches along the route. I also didn't have the GPSr/phone charger. Many were therefore missed but this one wasn't and a great day was had. Thanks to the COs.
Stopped here on the way over Danseys Pass early this afternoon. I had found most of this series several years ago, it was good to clean up the remaining ones today. Found the cache quickly, signed log, TFTC
Drove down from Wanaka. Mainly because of the virtual. And then went over the pass. Nice little trail here. I didn't have to much energy, so a didn't search for to long on some caches, that's why some didn't got logged today. Thank you for all the caches. And sorry for the copy and paste logs.
Parked at the pub and went for a walk, run up the road. Training for northburn and collecting some caches. Road closed today after the rain on Sunday.
Found on our Labour Weekend expedition over Dansey's Pass. Although it wasn't sunny the weather was mild and still and the scenery stunning. We enjoyed finding all the caches and appreciated that all of them had convient safe parking spots.

Cheers for the cache and the series.

Headed down south with C&D and 11HPG11 for the CHCH Mega as part of the HOAC team, and decided that a Mega road trip/Mega Mission was the right thing to do. We landed in CHCH late Friday night and after picking up the rental car we bee-lined it straight to Dunedin to grab a few hours sleep before the mission truly started.
The goal for today was to locate a certain few geocaches which help for certain challenges that we are all currently working on, and to explore some pretty cool country, before getting to tomorrows starting point in Omarama. We thoroughly enjoyed this day of the mission and saw some pretty awesome places, and managed to achieve most of what we wanted. A big thanks to everyone for placing all the caches, and I apologize in advance for the copy and past logs!
Back on track after a bit of a detour and with enough gas this time to get over Dansey's Pass. This was a awesome road to drive, unfortunately I had to concentrate on the road more the than awesome views. We had big plans to complete the full trail over the pass, but had to stop after about 20 caches in as we were running out of time. So will be happy to come back and complete. Thanks for the trail.
No troubles locating this one.

What a Mega Mission for a group of Hamilton Over Achievers! A great trip, a long time in the planning. I teamed up with Cats&Dragons and HKCB to grab a couple of caches while in Christchurch and surrounding areas for the 2015 Mega Event. We flew out from Auckland on Friday night and traveled to Dunedin in the dark of the night. Stopped for a few hours sleep before setting off to grab caches in the Otago area on Saturday before attempting a few more on Sunday and then arriving at the Mega on the Monday. An amazing, yet crazy road trip
Amazing scenery on our drive over Danseys pass, plus lots of caches meant for a fun trip! Thanks for the placement.

This was the start of a MEGA caching weekend in the company of good caching friends. In the company of both HKCB & 11HPG11 this was going to be another memorable caching road trip for many reasons.
After driving down from Christchurch last night, sleeping in the car in Dunedin , and getting a good early start this is the practice day for the planned mission for tomorrow , thats not to say we are not taking the day seriously, but there were roads to travel, views to see (so unlike what we were used to in the Waikato) and of course caches to grab.
All in all it was going to be a big day with a number of challenges, great sceanery, and of course great company. Fantastic driving along and up here as the landscape was so different from what we are used to back in the Waikato. One good thing about backroads being that we could continue our neferious activites without being disturbed by muggles.
Having left Sutton Salt Lake behind and now Ranfurly we were continuing our journey.
Back at Naseby we were winding down the day and making our way across Danseys Pass heading for our night stop some distance away.
Nice quick find here without any issues .
thanks for the placement , thanks for the cache

Well we were more Eastward Ho! Actually we were totally Homeward Ho! after a trip to Naseby and the Dansey Pass Hotel for the weekend. A lovely weekend (first child-free weekend away in over 15 years).
This was an easy find exactly where I expected.
Find one of eleven today, and twenty for the weekend. TFTC

Found with Chosen1978. Another quick find before heading further up the pass.
A quick find, a short rest break then back on the back, U-turn and off to Naseby. TFTC.
A hot dusty ride from the DoC campsite down the road. Quite a busy bit of road when I was on it. Had to be discrete despite the remoteness of the area.

Today we drove from Ranfurly to Twizel. We decided to take the shortest way, which was through Danseys Pass. This way was really an experience! We are certainly not used to this kind of roads in Denmark, and even in New Zealand we haven`t been on roads, that can be compared to this!
Fortunately, this was a quick and easy find.
Thanks for the cache.

Well we dropped our hitchhiker to walk the Kyeburn/ Mt Buster tracks and carried on with the day. TFTC
