Nice find, walking around finding this series, #7 of today TFTC Signed LogCoords quite a bit off
I was last here in 2021 but only found #1 so as part of my turn Oamaru mission today it was time to (hopefully) find the remaining Reservoir caches. What a gorgeous sunny Spring day and my walk around was just lovely. Fresh air, sunshine and caching = the perfect combination.
A few of these were certainly well hidden but perseverance certainly paid off...especially with this one. Lots of tooing and froing until the GPS settled then bingo there it goes yay TFTC

#21647. Troodles got to GZ first and found the cache well before I reached her. Good to set one of our Reservoir Track DNFs to rights. TFTC.
Another DNF from a few years back that we were keen to rectify. The hardest part was finding a route to GZ as the tracks here aren't on the GPSr. Once at GZ, the hint object was easily spotted. Knowing it was prostrate was essential as otherwise I would have called it a log.
The cache was quickly unearthed and phew, we have avenged one previous DNF.
Now to find our way back to the car. TFTC.

Spending a few days in the South around Easter. Found ourselves in Oarmaru, so what better than to go caching. Enjoyed this nice walk through the reservoir reserve.
Nice easy find here. Sat down on the hint object to calculate where the bonus cache was.

So pleased there was a hint for all of these caches. With the ground being covered in a thick mat of pine needles I am sure there are several I never would have found. My GPS landed me at the actual spot every time.
The mountain bike club from Timaru Girls High were just finishing when I arrived. They were presented with a major decision by their Teacher - what to do for lunch!

Was up in Oamaru to get some caches and called in to pickup coops64 and off we went. Was very damp under foot and got wet feet really quickly. This was an easy find and off to the next one TFTC
I really love walking round this area. So good for the soul- company makes it a lot more enjoyable and caching is the icing on the cake. TFTC
Needed some exercise so biked around the tracks checking up on these caches. In place and in good order, updated hint and description
No luck here, we found lots of curvy trees and lots of tracks with bends (reception not great here), but no cache.
Lots of tracks here, but nothing that seemed to fit the hint very well. Searched for some time, then called it a day.
The trees are curved, the tracks are curved, the hills are curved... But i like it, loved this walk this afternoon....
We sat down after #6 and worked out the coordinates of the Bonus cache... but there's one more still to get? So more finding our way, think we were going up what's usually a downhill track, but got to a place which looked appropriate. Mr D investigated the most distorted of the hint objects and eventually found the cache jammed into a place which didn't fit the clue - it had been last found by a child. Returned it to a place which does fit the clue, hidden and held in place by a nice bit of cut wood.
unfortunately did not find this one may be because there had been some chainsaw action recently on a tree that had fallen over maybe I was just looking in the wrong place
The aim this afternoon was to ride the MTB tracks around the reservoir and hopefully get all the details for the bonus cache. The last finder(s) had jammed the container hard back into the hidey hole. It took quite a bit of effort, with improvised tools, to get it free enough to where hands could grasp it. I left it where followers wouldn't have that difficulty. TFTC.
Geofest Oamaru is over but our (The Seagnoid, Toby, Zara & I) epic adventure continues - Day 4 Danseys Pass signed off. Its early evening and the night cache in Oamaru is on the radar, but still a bit early.
The daylight has failed us by this time and we are moving by cellphone light. Finally snag and tag this one-0 now the mission to get back to Toby. Its dark now and we are traipsing around these tracks by cell light and going around in endless circles. The Navigator is slipping in his job this evening. Finally find our way backtracking along our inwards track in the dark. Great to see Toby and get some torches. Cheers

Here to do the night cache, but it is not night yet, so Taybeedragon and I are filling in time walking the reservoir tracks. Found the cache. And now the adventure begins. You know how geocaching adventures go, it's like the story The Lord of the Rings - most of the adventure is getting there, then there is a little bit about biffing the ring in the hole, and then the return home is told in pretty much one small chapter.
Not this time. Getting to the cache and finding it was easy. Getting home? Another story. It is almost too dark to see the track, so the cellphone flash was our driving light. We noticed that the track we were walking was circumnavigating the reserve, so we carried on that way, expecting it to loop back to the car park. Nope. We looped further and ended up back at this cache. Walked it again, keeping a closer eye out for turnoffs. Nope. So we started walking back to to cache #6 - ahh here is a side track that goes the right way! Nope, takes us back to the outside edge again. The tracks must be there, we just could not see them in the poor light. Ended up back at the reservoir arm, where I expected there to be a shortcut across, and there was, and got back to the car park that way. Back at the car - grab the torches - we need them now! Let's do the night cache!
Anyway, for the fun route home, this gets a favourite!

I was down in Otago for the long weekend to attend the Oamaru Geofest. This morning I teamed up with fellow West Auckland cachers Jag50, Aiden29 and Bertie Blowfish. We headed around the Reservoir Track to do this series, finding each cache in the series, and noting down the numbers for the bonus cache. It was a nice little series and good walk in the forest with lots of birds singing in the trees. TFTC!
Day 5 of my Oamaru GeoFest week. Moving OK after a day of cycling yesterday. Out with DSI tonight.
This one took a while as the GPS took us from one track to another.
Someone has replaced the log today (maybe even the whole cache) and there is no number
Thanks for the smilie.

Trying to attempt the night cache in the reserve but got completely lost and ended up walking around the reserve and decided to attempt the outer reserve caches which we had more success with with.
Signed as Team SEAC 17
We did reattempt the night cache and eventually using a bit of thought we had success there to!!

Found with Jag50, Aiden29 & Vistra - in town for the Labour Weekend Geofest.
It certainly wasn't a quick find, and my gps went all over the show...but Mrs Jag50 was on form again - locating & extricating the tricky hide.

Down in Oamaru for the Geofest with Aiden29 and Bertie Blowfish. Had also teamed up with Vistra on this morning and we set about doing a very nice walk and caching. Mrs Jag50 had been eating her carrots today and had this spotted.
Down in Oamaru for the Geofest, and decided to head out and complete the Reservoir series with Jag50, Vistra and Bertie Blowfish. We ended up doing these in the reverse order, for some reason.
Can’t get it out but have a photo. Looked here missed it looked a bit later and saw it. We are going to be late for lunch
With NZ Bozzy.
TFTC. Always enjoy a walk and these caches make it very worthwhile. Couldn't remove from hiding spot. have a spoiler photo if you would like it loaded up.

Wow that was a tricky hide, but fortunately Isis58 was onto it. Then we couldn't extricate the cache from its hiding place. - - - Photo evidence can be supplied if needed . TFTC .
Found this very cool hide but couldnt budge it with any of the tools we had with us. Sidewaze has the photo evidence if required. Luckily we've got all the numbers so could leave this one firmly wedged where it was. TFTC # 11,078
Was up here with scouts awhile back and noticed that only the logbook remained, finally got back to replace the container again!!! replaced log as well.
Last on the track, now to find my way back to the car... Thanks for the wander.
A few showers off and on today as we head back up home to Christchurch.
Thanks to the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

Wow, the kids loved this tree and spent quite a while going under and over and around and around before Dad got his hands on it. Cheers
Nearly finished the series. The rain was getting lighter but we were in the forest so all was good. A favorite for the series from me. Logbook was a bit wet.
After staying in oamaru for the night we planned to come get these caches round here. A bit drizzly but that didn't dampen our spirits really enjoyed the walk around here. Would, defunct to mtb next time. Thanks for the cache.
A nice walk on a beautiful morning. Unfortunately we could not find one of them, so therefore the bonus could not be found. But we will be back. TFTC
Went for a walk around the reservoir late this afternoon and managed to make a clean sweep of the caches. A quick find for this one - signed log, TFTC
When we approached GZ we were a bit concerned that some recent looking work on the bike track may have destroyed the cache. With the signal playing around we did widen the search but eventually zeroed on one spot and there it was well tucked away.
There's a few to choose from but finally got it log getting damp tftc
Despite recognising the hint object and searching it, we missed this initially, but eventually found it. The log was quite wet. TFTC
Another great find while slowly heading to the Christchurch Mega.
Thanks for adding to the fun of my trip!
Enjoyed the walk around the reservoir and some nice easy finds.

Woody looked in one place while I looked else where - one of us got lucky and made the find. Found with Aoraki Sheep and Woody104
A quick find by Debs here, got all the numbers and now for the bonus cache.
Found with Debs and Aoraki.

There were a number of hint objects at GZ. I watched as debs looked under one and Woody under the other. Found with Woody104 and debsnz
Wasn't 100% how to get to this cache, as the satellite view on the Geocaching App is showing just cloud. Eventually worked out that the track looped back around and we found the cache quite quickly. Thanks for the cache.
A nice weekend stroll resulted in another find from this series. A lovely area which reminds us a little bit of what Cape Wanbrow used to look like. TFTC.
You take one end and I will have a look at the other, Murphys Law again as abxt350 found the goods.
Thanks
