Was glad it wasnt snake season as thats a lot of grass to get through. Once at GZ was good to find a nice big cache. TFTC
Been to Tassie plenty of times in the past, and now find myself retired and able to return. Really love this area in the north east, and places like this make it so much more wonderful! As with a few others in this area, I went out early while the muggles slept. Drove to within a hundred metres or so and took a good look at what was in front of me. As a bit of a bushie, but not being familiar with Tasmanian reptilian fauna, I could understand some prospective cachers may well have been reluctant to proceed. But not me.Eventually found the cache and performed the required duties and made my way back.
As we pulled up our GPS was indicating that it was about a 100 metre walk to GZ.Seemed longer than that though. With an overcast, cold day at least we didn't have to worry about snakes today - no self respecting snake would be out in this weather!!Loved the nice solid container at GZ. Much more likely to last than many of the poor containers we found today in the area. Thanks Nyssaflutterby.
That's a nope...long grass, sword grass and the possibility of finding snakes...maybe in winter.
It seems that Tassie has so many things growing in the bush with spikes, prickles and razor blades! This morning while walking through the bush to this cache, I reached down to tie my laces and something sliced my finger open. It was like a paper cut but on steroids! bloodwas lost before I even got to the cache! Thankfully no more wounds were received on retrieval of the cache and due to safety concerns, and having a pen, I didnt sign the log with my blood!TFTC NyssaflutterbyKeep smiling
We were driving past, not originally on planning on being in the area, and just had to stop to complete the cache. Thanks Nyssaflutterby.
To get to this cache requires walking some distance through thick long grass! I definitely had major anxiety over coming across snakes within this grass! Thankfully no snakes were discovered!TNLN
Cache next to this I logged as 16th instead of 15th. A lot of wandering before we got to GZ. TFTC
Staying in St Helens we headed out to locate caches nearby and as far afield as Derby and this was one we found. It was a lovely day to be out caching. Of all the places to hide a cache to highlight lovely St Helens for a friend it is 120 m in scrub that could be full of snakes. Glad we did it in summer. So many other places it could have been hidden in this reserve . Oh well another find. TFTC bah humbug
Admittedly, as a foreigner I had some trepidation about possible harmful critters on the way to the cache but these concerns ended up unfounded. Excepting, that is, for the small skull found within a meter (or is it metre?) of the cache.
Also of note, I simply had to find this as for the past 15 years I have been performing Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" as a one man show to raise money for charity. I've memorized the book and play all the parts and have raised US $135,000 over the years. So, how could I not search out this cache and its nearby neighbor? Impossible to resist.
The cache coords were very good and all was well with the container. I signed the log and left a Travel Bug attached to a model of an indigenous species found in my corner of the world. Thanks

Out and about with tassietan. I had a bad feeling about slithering things as we tramped through the long grass, but fortunately none were sighted.
Perhaps the cache guardian wasn't so lucky?

Out camping with The Roadies and decided to have a drive to Dora Point to look at the Georges Bay barway. Of course that meant we had to have a look for a few caches on the way. We Humbugged our way to GZ - it was a bit of an overgrown and hence potentially snaky path but we wended our way as best we could. Noticed a couple of decoys first but finally found a nice sturdy cache, all tucked away in its hiding spot. An animal had curled up under the cache location and unfortunately perished (research of the skull once returning home revealed it to be a common brushtail possum). Thanks for the cache Nyssaflutterby and membsec.
On our way around Tassie for 3 weeks. After setting up camp at the Dora Point Camping area we went for a drive to find some caches and check out the scenery.
Cache was spotted after a brief walk in my thongs (yes not the ideal footwear here)

We could almost follow our noses for this one. Rotting animal carcass, maybe a wallabie at the cache. Nice place other wise. An easy park and play. Tftc
This cache was quite difficult to find. You need a good sense of direction for coming back. In certain seasons the grass could be up to your chest so take care. Thank you for the cache from GeoMaggie and her sidekick Bonnie.
Early morning run while at the geowife catches up on some zzzz’s. Down from Brisbane for a week.
Cheers
Cheers
No discernible track to the cache and not ideal for small children whos face is the same height as the grass
On a road trip from Hobart to Stanley with my mum over 2 weeks. We visited a number of towns and we were mainly targeting Virtuals and Earthcaches due to the amazing locations they take one to. We did pick up the random traditional, multi, puzzle, wherigo and even a couple letterbox caches whilst travelling.
Today its Bicheno to St Helens and we visited a number of places along the way, including a little detour via St Marys. Started off at the Bicheno Blowhole which was in full action this morning. A nice easy find here, signed and replaced as found.
Thanks for placing and mainting this Geocache Nyssaflutterby and membsec

Jumped through the bush with my muggle friend. She was a bit confused and uncertain by this strange hobby of mine but soon got in and join the fun. Hot day. Perfect for exploring new areas. Thanks
half of team bloopy went on the mini bush bash mission to find this one. bloopy kid thought that someone should come in and trim the cutting grass. not sure she realises how national parks work . cheers!
Visiting from Townsville and continuing our anti-clockwise loop after a couple of days in Hobart.
Bicheno, the Bay of Fires and St Helens today. Came to pick up the oldie nearby but couldn’t just drive past this one.
Thanks Nyssaflutterby for creating and placing this for us to enjoy. Cheers Humbug.

Interesting walk to the cache, through some prickly grass. Cache was an easy find and was in good condition. TFTC
A rare day off, thanks to working show day, so I decided to attack certain earth caches around the north east of Tasmania. My target for the moment is to get to 100 earth caches.
Was a bit worried walking to this cache in my shorts. But found a nice track to walk

This is our second day in the St Helens area. The weather is a little overcast and cool to start with and the ground is still very wet from all the recent rains. Our aim today is to explore the area as much as possible this being our first visit here and also to collect as many geocaches along the way as practical.
This is our eighth cache of the day. The drive up into this area was very pleasant. We parked up and walked the final 100 metres or so to the cache. We were very mindful of snakes as it felt quite snakey and with it being spring they are at their most feisty, but happy to report no snakes today and cache quickly located, logged and replaced. Very surprised how busy this road was. TFTC

TFTC.
Bit of walking through the spikey grass, but found the goods.
Ready to call it a day & head back to camp for dinner.

Well, I don't think there is much chance of this one being stumbled upon and muggled! After the struggle uphill from our camp on the geo-cycle - well, actually off it for the steep bit , I was glad that there were two good caches as the reward. TNSL and I added my calling card to this well constructed cache. YeeHaa downhill from here...
Picture of the tiny yellow wildflower here is posted in honour of my late father who would most likely have been able to supply both the common and botanical names for it!

We set off looking for this one with great regrets on wearing shorts as the reads were really sharp. A few cuts didn't stop us from finding the cache. On our return, we were delighted to notice some bright yellow orchids in bloom.
Spending a few days on the east coast to find a few caches and perhaps catch a fish or two. Managed to find the correct log to secure a quick find thanks for accurate co-ordinates.
A 3 night stay in St Helens with my craft friends.....well I could say more of a get away as Caching takes place as well. Had a day out exploring on my own for the day. Was happy with 18GC & 2GCA Finds & 1 DNF for the day and lots seen I was happy with the out come.
Easy find nice big cache. Thanks Nyssa for the hide

Nice hide that the kids loved finding after a wander through light scrub. TFTC
On a little pre Covid19 lockdown jaunt to the East Coast. A little walk on the wild side, keeping a good lookout for slithery things. No problem with space for clobber in this one. Thanks team !
TFTC quick find after trapsing thru the grass, very peaceful. Loving Tassie, only a few days left, yes cleaning our hands between caches.
Was caching here about a year ago, not sure why we didn’t grab this one then.
Nice easy find after a short walk in the spiky grass.

Great our enjoyed journey along trip to St Helens for 3 nights. Found your cache today. Nyssaflutterby and membsec , thank you so much for placing it.
A nice spot and an enjoyable drive exploring this area. We'd been hoping to come across a decent size cache all day so that we could drop off a good size TB. We'll, this cache was perfect! TFTC!

4th cache for the day. A little walk off the road through some light scrub but a quick find. 3 geokids = 3 swaps done.
Bit of a bush bash to get to this one from our parking spot but well worth it for a large cache full of swaps. TFTC
A detour off the bitumen and what a wonderful experience those corrugations are. Can still feel the stutter of the chassis. A nice easy find of a very nicely presented cache.. thanks..!!
We parked as near as we could but still had a bit of a walk to GZ, the goose was bringing up the rear as he said the ground to GZ looked a little snakey so he wanted me and the toolman to clear a path for him, so off we went winding our way to GZ.
A nice size cache for a change, I have a few of these waiting in the shed for a location.
Thanks so much for the cache.

Out on a 'clean up' run with 1toolman and stainless steel rat around the St Helens area today. This was a bit further for the road than we originally thought but that should ensure it's longevity. I was a bit slow getting to GZ so the guys already had the cache out when I hobbled up to it. Nice size cache thanks Nyssa. Cache and log all in good order.
YEASSS ! A nice big container, awesome spot with ‘filtered’ beach views.
Still out with goose and ssrat, almost cidertime ️
Great drive along here, thanks for bringing us here !

Thoroughly enjoying our week of Tasmanian geocaching adventures. Today finds us exploring the North East. This is a lovely find in a great location. TFTF.
On our two month travelling trip through Austrialia, we are enjoying all the wonderful places and scenery. We will stop on the way to visit some nice caches as well. This one we could find.

As the family and I were staying in Coles Bay for a couple of days, we headed up to Bay Of Fires, and stopped by to find a few select caches on the way back. We pulled up 50m from the cache, and while the kids enjoyed their icecreams in the cool of the car, I quickly jumped out and located the cache at GZ. A good day for snakes here, so fortunately I didn't come across any jogging through the grass.
