A puzzle that was right up my alley!Had it figured out pretty quickly and now we are on the island, found pretty quickly. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache.
A group of geocaching friends consisting of Val (cybergran V), Ian (half of the team Riddell) Ian (icybeetas) Pam (weirdobiker) Evelyn (SciFiRulz), Ronice (Ronice88) and Sylvia (half of team Riddell) are touring Norfolk Island with the aim of finding every cache here. This was a quick find of a cache in good condition and the log signed as Viipers to save space. Thank you TeamAstro for placing and maintaining it as it enhanced our visit to this beautiful island.
Found by the VIIPERS. There may not be snakes on Norfolk Island, but now there are VIIPERS. We are V(al Cybergran V) I(an icybeetas) I(an Riddell) P(am weirdobiker) E(velyn SciFiRulz) R(onice Ronice88) and S(ylvia Riddell who is with us in spirit.)This puzzle was solved with help from Riddell who knew all about it. TFTC
A group of caching friends are visiting from the mainland and enjoying the scenery while caching. The log was signed as team (viipers) who include cybergran V, SciFiRulz, Riddell, Ronice88, icybeetas and myself. This was another trek that was well worth it for the view. It was a good use of a recycled container, which is something I always think is worthwhile
Enjoying two weeks on Norfolk Island always wanted to visit, now Im here! And theres caches of course! Needed assistance with the puzzle, easy with hindsight, amazes me how some people work out the puzzles to begin with! A Lovely walk down and view from GZ. Some of these trees are huge. FP for the clever cache and location Beautiful place, thank youTeamAstro for placing this game piece here, showcasing this lovely area and contributing to this great game for myself and others to enjoy. Happy trails!
Found it with goingplaces2 & ilook4geo while on a 7 day epic trip with 33 other caches exploring this beautiful Island. Thanks to the CO for the cache.
We spent a fun and productive week geocaching on Norfolk Island, as well as seeing the spectacular views. We also did several tours and other activities on offer, which highlighted different aspects of the island life and history. Thanks for this cache.
Found during a week of geocaching on Norfolk Island with GeoMates. It was a successful week and an adventurous one. Thanks go to TeamAstro for placing this cache.
Our NI GeoAdventure group which has been referred to as SNIP24 solved this puzzle at a puzzle solving dinner event at the end of last year in preparation for our trip. Today, originally Empire Day (who remembers that?) we are scouring the SE part of Norfolk Island to find those last caches. This was another steep walk, think I'll be ready for any physical challenge after this holiday! We headed for an interesting spot where we found an appropriately themed container and another great view.TFTC # 6064
#6097A tricky puzzle that was solved with rama497. Too bad he didn't get to come to Norfolk Island to find this cache.took the wrong turn with my geomates to start with but soon saw the error of our ways and decided on a new route. Cache was soon discovered and all signed the log. What great views from here. Another good puzzle and a great location. Adding a FP. ??
Found with Calypso62, Jackscruff, Gatherer Hade and Goldberry17.After descending the steepest slope Ive encountered so far, we made our way to GZ.Another cleverly themed cache was found. Thanks to the CO for the puzzle and the cache and thanks to my fellow geocachers for letting me join their group in search of the cache.
Loved the name & cache container! Thanks for placing a cache in this beautiful location!
Found with Ris768 while travelling on Norfolk Island TFTCLog 3336Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache TeamAstro
#7608 NI Day 5After a couple of big caching days, there are only 10 caches left to find on Norfolk Island, 4 of which are events. We had a quick attempt at this one a few days ago, but picked the wrong starting point. After some renewed intel, it turns out that we weren't too far away from the trail head. Found it quickly today and headed downhill to see a tanker moored in Balls Bay. Took a moment to enjoy the beautiful scenery before returning my focus back on the cache. Added our names and headed back up the hill to the car.TFTC TeamAstro
#14399 10:05The third day of Geo Adventure 2024 with a group of 30+ geocachers visiting Norfolk Island. Roaming around the island for a few days, a smaller group decided to tackle sthe East coast of the island today.A fun puzzle and now on Norfolk Island time to find the cache. It certainly was one of the steeper slopes (so far) that we have encountered. Once at GZ the suitable themed cache was quickly found and then it was back uphill again.TFTC TeamAstro.
It's been a long time since I dabbled in the SW world but remembered enought to make sense of some of the numbers. We arrived near GZ and surveying what lay ahead looked ominous. A PAF to the local luminary suggested we should backtrack about 50m and that made all the difference, although we still had a hard slog for the return. Thanks TeamAstro.
Hard work mentally and physically.Got there in the end, sense of achievement yet again. Thanks TeamAstro
My buddies: bella at waggyNorfolk is gorgeous! Good container at the end of the cache! Thank you TeamAstro, for creating, placing and maintaining this cache. I have enjoyed finding it and visiting this spot.Follow my story on Instagram @AlphaDeltaIndigo
Caving with ADI down this part of the island. The puzzle took a bit to tune into but we got there. Fortunately we made the right approach to GZ and did the short steep trek. A well themed container at GZ and great views. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC
Short wave and a short walk. Well, compared to an earlier one. More great views. But how did the cows get back up? They must have good calves. TFTC
Great cache container.Found with Its Dozzie, Brewmaker, Everest High, Cryptic8, Tardis, MaxA. Thanks Team Astro.
Having had lunch, I was ready for more, but I thought, hard was done for the day. OMG.... here we go again. While not as long, this was also difficult to access. I appreciated the access info, as this would have been difficult to determine. Thanks also to endeavour3 for showing me the access on satellite imagery. I found a few cow trails and I also found what seemed to be an old track, but nature has been allowed to swallow this in parts. I made my way to this track and followed it as best I could which worked well as it led me to GZ, it was then an easy scramble to the required elevation, where I found myself a well hidden cache. Unfortunately, water has got into it and bit are rusting. I tipped out what I could. Luckily the log section is dry. Another well placed and difficult cache. Awesome views here too. This too is a cache not for everyone, thanks for another great adventure. I was now drenched in sweat again.
Day 3 of my Norfolk Island adventure. I can understand why people want to live here . Its a little bit of paradise. Wow so much history on the island, Im enjoying my wandering seeing the sites Some logs signed as N2OThis is my 12076find.Thankyou TeamAstro for placing and maintaining this cache
T-Tech and I are visiting Norfolk Island for our 40th anniversary. We arrived from Brisbane and are staying for 2 weeks at Endeavour Lodge, and plan to get some R&R, see all of the sites, learn the history, and gather every cache here so we can claim the Se Dun Challenge Today we are heading east again as there are a few solved puzzles to be collected. Some intel from a local gave us a great starting point, and T-Tech led the way down to GZ. It sure is a great view. A quick find was made. TFTC, TeamAstro.
Over with IolantheK from Brisbane celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary [^]Out for another day of caching up the east side of the island this time.Had some difficulty with this one initially (got my decimals mixed up), in the end all worked out Moving on now on the Island; Got to where we thought was the best approach, then IolantheK decided to check with endeavour3 as it looked very step and obstructed. Advised on a slightly different start point and despite being steep the approach proved to be much better (got to love local knowledge).Nice easy find at GZ, with an appropriately themed container, cache in good condition [^]TFTC TeamAstro a fav point from me [^]
Found with the Canberra group on the 4th day of our Norfolk Island geocaching adventure. Log signed as Dem CBR. Tftc
# 8946 Norfolk Day 3, team "Dem CBR" myself, iPlod65, Joolay, barb2e and contesta had another fantastic day of caching and exploration. We started down at Kingston with our host for the morning: Endevour3. It was cool and very blustery today, but not enough to discourage us. Then it was off to east coast to grab some more difficult caches. Lots of climbing today, but always stunning destinations. Finally off up to Captain Cook Pt for a couple of amazing spots.Needed help with the puzzle. Tricky spot to reach. Loved the themed container. Some logs signed collectively "Dem CBR".Thanks TeamAstro for the Mystery Cache
On holiday in Norfolk Island with StrangeTrousers. Beautiful Island. TFTC signed as DEM CBR
Hard puzzle but awesome spot. The walks are starting to add up.How exciting to be at Norfolk finally. This has been the plan for so long. Lovely to be here with Contesta, barb2e, Strangetrousers and IPlod65, signing as DEM CBRThanks for getting me out and about TeamAstro
Find # 10469Day 3 in Norfolk, here for a week of caching fun with geofriends Joolay, barb2e, StrangeTrousers, and iPlod. Zoom zoom zooming around in Kermit (green not red) Logging as DEMCBR.Wild and wooly weather here today. This was a quick and easy find and here at Short Wave today. Thanks so much for the many caches TeamAstro and of course for giving me a reason and incentive to get out here, and to experience this part of the world in a different light
The elegance of an old school and devious puzzle. Bravo Astro, very nicely done. After getting so far with the info, I enlisted some help from someone much wiser than me who got me through the final hurdle. Hmm...yeah, I was not going to figure that bit out.
Some decent rain on the island overnight and I really wasn't in the right footwear to be heading to GZ. But, that's rarely a consideration for us when chasing an icon now is it, so in I went.
Very uneven terrain at the start due to the cows, then a little slippery towards the end as the steeper section kicked in. Safely at GZ though, a very cool container was unveiled and I got up close and personal with the bazillion ants that had made the container hole.
With my name in the log, I returned everything as found and returned to the car where Mrs. Gunnie was patiently waiting.
Cheers TeamAstro, a nice puzzle, neat container and a nicely chosen GZ. A favourite point from me.

Today the hiking boots were back on and we explored NI by geocaching. Left the husband at the top of the hill due to his plantar fasciitis and I made the trek down. Found the easier route coming back.
As I’m not great at solving puzzles I’m thankful for the guidance of Endeavour 3 and chooknchunk in this solve. TFTC

A small nudge helped me solve this - I was so close. The trip to the cache was a warm-up for later, very nice container. Enjoyed the puzzle and find, thanks.
I'm convinced "Not wheelchair accessible" should be added to the attributes here. However we gritted our teeth, put on the crampons, and set off towards gz. Should have laid out the winch rope ready for coming back to the car. Mrs George made the retrieval here and passed the container. I don't know how to send map details back as the shortwave transmitter appears to be broken, and I shall have to use the Codan NGT in the car to reach back to Sydney town. Anyway I managed to notify the signal station at Kingston that I had found it and Mrs George hid the radio where the convicts wouldn't find it. Tftc, team astro, and e3.
TFTC,
Day 7 on the Island and back into some walking to caches. Our aim was to finish the 10 remaining caches on the Island so that we don't have to panic tomorrow.
As usual, I followed the compass and for into trouble. Nana took over and read the instructions and after back tracking we soon had the cache in hand.
Added a favourite and visited trackables.

Puzzle solved before leaving home. After putting wazza9 on the right track off we went. Today is Wazza9 & my last day of geocaching on the Island. We came 7 days ago, today marks that we have found every cache on the Island. 5th cache of 10 today, a very quick find. Stamped log and replaced. Thanks to CO
On the 15 Day of October 2022 I was transported from the Mainland to Norfolk Island to serve 7 days in detention. On arrival at NI, I was transported by the Bounti bus to my prison quarters at Ocean Breeze Cottages.
Early in the morning on 16 October I managed to escape the prison accompanied by another (muggle). The guards were still asleep as we absconded in a Honda wheeled vehicle. We thought New Zealand may be closer so set of heading East.
We tried making our way down to the water at this location and were overwhelmed by the absolutely breathing taking views as my muggle friend and I made our way to the cache. Maybe we will not escape today after all. I shall just have to serve out my full sentence right here.

Wal & Ol’s log was helpful in getting oriented for the descent to GZ. Rather slippery after overnight rain but made it unscathed and signed the log. Then back up. TFTC TeanAstro.
Time to head to Norfolk Island to celabrate our 70th birthdays. When we were here before we were not geocachers, this visit will be spent gathering geocaches and revisiting our favourite places. Our appologies for the generic logs it does not take away the enjoyment we have found in the fantastic places they have been placed and all the different styles of caches that we are enjoying,

Access tip for next finders - park near the wire gate/Ball Bay Reserve sign, follow the fence posts until they run out, then head down, down, down towards the big boy.

We had an easy morning in town today, a trip to the museum and a coffee, then out for some caches in the afternoon whilst half of us went horse drawn carriage riding.
I had the first clue quickly for this puzzle, then the second, but for some reason couldn't nail it all together at the end, and needed a nudge to get over the line - we were over thinking again....
We went a bit low too soon going for GZ, so had to backtrack up to the fence and try again, then it was smooth (steep) sailing right to GZ, where a quick find was made. We paused for a bit to take in the great views and headed over to Cascade Bay.... TFTC!

After dropping Mum and Oliver at the horse and cart ride, Me and Dad headed off to grab some caches in the limited time that we had before we had to pick them back up. Had a great time caching around Ball Bay and Cascade Bay!
After solving this one not too long ago, we headed out this afternoon to grab it while Mum and Oliver are out on a Horse ride. Once we found a way in towards GZ, we walked along, then down the point to GZ.. Once we arrived at GZ we quickly found the container!

Solved the puzzle at home before our Norfolk holiday in readiness for a week of caching. Enjoyed the walk to the cache. More stunning views to be had.
Nice cache. All is good here.
Thank you for the puzzle and cache.

Just the one find for the morning but what glorious views! Staying not too far away. Thanks TeamAstro.
Late Sunday morning and off to find this cache which was just up the road from where we are staying. A gentle walk down to GZ. Great views around the GZ area. Found cache and signed log. TFTC Team Astro. Giving a FP for the location
Aquilus1 and myself were on a mission: Go to Norfolk Island and clear the place out in 48 hours! This we achieved as we arrived well prepared, having ground out the puzzles (some with assistance) so that we had coords for nearly all hides before leaving Australia.
Brain tickler test & vaccination certificates in hand, we were shocked on arrival that our Australian mobiles had no roaming coverage....NONE! But, thankfully it seems most accommodation not only comes with a car, but comes with a phone as well.
I swear we did at least 5 laps of the island, I knew my way around very well by the end. NI is such a beautiful place, I am coming back with the family in a month and I already know exactly where I will take them.
On our first day we hosted an event and thankfully the local legend cacher, endeavour3, graced us with his presence. Some sage advice on the trickiest of NI hides was gladly received
And, it has to be said......OMG THE HUMIDITY!!! Canberra has none at all, it was a major shock to the system!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I found all the clues, but couldnt make it work.... but I managed to guess the coords to within 6m accuracy!

GreyHams had this sorted before we left and with a bit of advice for the best way down to cache worked well. Not difficult and great location at the end. Appropriate container!
Trip log: Norfolk Island... Not something we had been planning to do but with GreyHams noticing travel here was starting up again, a good deal on flights and that this would count as a new caching 'country' this was indeed a very tempting location to visit.
Puzzles were solved, our double vaccinations certificates ready to go. A last minute change in the entry requirements added our PCR tests... but we arrived.
We had a challenge to collect as many of the caches as we could in the 48 hours we would be on the Island... A caching trip, but one that guided us around into every hidden gem the Island had to offer. All its beauty, history, scenic and quirky... and moisture! Humidity that sucked the energy out of every pore as we sweated our way about, but it was awesome!
An event the first evening was fantastic to meet with endeavour3, a wealth of local knowledge and assistance... both caching and the local area. It was great to confirm details, amend as needed and with a few DNFs help us back on track.
An honourable mention to the cows, especially the one that licked all over the car, the feral chickens (but not the roosters that wake up far to early and noisily) and the very friendly waving people everywhere we went!
Thanks for your cache that helped guide us about, and can all the caches be found within 48 hours... I'm very pleased to say that yes we could!

Some went fishing others went to check out SW. What a great view for a Tuesday morning. Here with a NZ Geotrip. Tftc
Our last puzzle on the island apart from the challenge cache. Loved the walk to gz and the cache container. Stunning views from gz. Thanks for taking us here.
An interesting puzzle that was solved back home in New Zealand in anticipation of our trip to Norfolk Island.
This morning we headed out to make the find with mrandmrschosen and Team Welsh. We enjoyed the walk to GZ with great views from here. We liked the cache container too! TFTC, adding a Favourite point.

Great place for a view. Log book is wet and falling apart sadly. Great container though and very apt! Accompanied down the slope by rosellas and sparrows (???).

Great cache in a great spot. I really enjoyed the views and the appropriate container. Tftc.
A trek down the steep spur was rewarded with great views and a cache. log getting a bit wet. TFTC
We were rapt with this final location as it allowed us to see the unloading of the gravel for the runway extension. What a huge project and so many delays due to sea conditions. This extension seems to be quite an issue amongst the locals. Thanks
Needed a lot of help with the puzzle, but we are going for the se dun challenge so persevered. Challenging walk too, but great cache. TFTC
That was a bit of exercise, but worth it for the views; both of the wharf and the other direction. Log is a bit tatty. TFTC TeamAstro.
I needed lots of help with this one to arrive at GZ. Once there I absolutely loved the cache. Congratulations on the all the creativity and hard work involved with this cache TeamAstro. SL
Justjessie and I made a late decision to spend a week holidaying on Norfolk. A quick check of the caching map revealed the "Se Dun challenge" The local term for completing something, so we set about "completing" all 53 caches on the Island. Can't be that hard can it....?
Justjessie worked this one out and an easy find was made
Each log has a random picture from our time on the Island, we would recommend it to other cachers as a great way to spend a week, getting to know the Island the people and their heritage.

My legs are reallly sick of walking up and down (or in this case down and then up). Beautiful view from GZ. TFTC
Find 10 of 12 on our first day of caching on beautiful Norfolk Island.
Think we needed a prod to get started with this puzzle but then it fell into place. Chose a good parking spot, as it transpired, probably the best possible judging by the logs, but it was still a decent effort walking in and out to the cache. Totally spoilt for the views today.

Wow what an amazing view as you walk to GZ! We parked at the given waypoint and made our way down. Quickly found the very cool cache container! NI is such a beautiful place to go caching! TFTC
OK ..... found this after one major scramble in the bush! Still have the scratches and bruises lol. Was pleased as punch to finally reach GZ and a quick find - now to find my way out!!. TFTC
Have to say that I received a LOT of help to solve this puzzle. Solved in back in New Zealand so I was keen to see where the coordinates would take me... turned out that it was a stunning location. Loved the cache container... super awesome and tied in with the whole theme. TFTC and the brain workout!
We have now spent a few days on Norfolk Island and are enjoying ourselves immensely. There are a wealth of things to see and do. The scenery is spectacular and the history rich. We are off to see a show covering some of that history tonight!
We had an inordinate amount of help with this puzzle. It was completely beyond our experience to date and without the very generous help of the CO we would never have solved it so we are most grateful.
We have some real follow up learning to complete when we get home!
We managed to find a suitable place to park reasonably nearby and set off to GZ. We have done a bit of up and down hills since our arrival! The cache location is truly spectacular. We were very surprised Endeavour didn’t have a cottage or unit there! We admired the surrounds and then found the beautifully themed container and added our names to the log.
Many thanks for the assistance and the cache

We were able to calculate the final coordinates after consulting not only the cache entry, but Google as well.
We parked approximately 150 metres from the
Final and made the walk to the very cute container.
Maybe a new set of batteries might help???
Thanks for the puzzle and the cache hide.

But I was on my own with the find...Almost getting too dark ...but I found the unusual container just in time !

Took us ages to solve the puzzle but eventually made it. Arrived at the nearest possible point to GZ and walked through a "for sale" area to the track to the cache. Quite a hike but great views along a thundering coastline. Made it to the cache with some care, very clever and appropriate cache container. Bit of a haul back.

Saturday. Day five of our fabulous week on Norfolk.
We finally found the right spot to park and therefater to descend to and nab this cache. Adnittedly, we kept stopping to admire the view... This one is a bit steep, but if the cows can make it, then so can we! We found and signed the very appropriate container. Ooh, the block of land we went through is for sale! We wondered how much extra we might need on top of our meagre savings just to buy the land! Let along put a house on it.
We would have loved to include a picture in our log, but each one we took is a giveaway, so no pic!
This was the 4th of 8 caches found on today's meanderings.
Thanks ***TeamAstro***, for showing us this place.

After almost killing myself tackling "Ball Bay" from below, thanks to an errant GPS, I found a better way to this one.
I really enjoyed the puzzle and the view from GZ.
Nice one, thanks TeamAstro.

Solving this cache was the big sticking point in clearing all the Norfolk Island caches. Thankfully we got a helping hand and it all fell into place. GZ was right at a place we'd visited just the previous week to enjoy the view. A very appropriate container, given the theme. Thanks for the cache
Spent a great week on Norfolk Island. Decided to find all the caches and as it is a small island geowife and I thought we didn't need a car. Thought we might need a bike but in the end walking was fine. 133 km of walking. BTW Oztopo v8 is about 1km out so can't be relied on at all for NI. Many, many thanks to endeavour3 for all his work.
Day 2 which was a 24km walk. Solved this one before leaving Oz but only with some help. Tricky, tricky stuff. One of the TeamAstro puzzle caches on the island. What a fantastically appropriate container. TFTC and a favourite

We solved this one at home in preparation for our trip. Located an access point today after missing it when visiting the Ball Bay cache on Monday.
Great views from GZ TFTC.

My 32nd find on Norfolk Island. After deciphering the coordinates months ago I managed to finally find this one and sign the log. I loved both the view and the container. TFTC TeamAstro as I aspire to find the remaining caches on Norfolk Island
Solved in NZ. Really enjoyed the walk to GZ - great hide, very funny. Another fantastic view from GZ (FP)
Not a techie or cartographer, but with a little nudge in the right direction soon had this one sorted!

Preparations made before leaving Australia to find as many as possible of the caches on Norfolk Island. 31 in total. Details for each one printed out and given a number by me so they could be identified readily on the map which I also printed. I also contacted endeavour3 a local NI cacher hoping he would be my PAF whilst there..... Caching on this holiday with Ozdog - my husband.
Tenth cache found. PAF was needed to get me on the right track along with some downloaded info. We did not have internet available to thank you heaps endeavour3 for your valuable assistance with this one. Cache located at 10:10am after a lovely walk down to overlook the ocean and a great feed of Guevaras on the way, log signed and replaced. Cache well maintained and in good condition. Very appropriate container. Thank you TeamAstro for placing this cache in such and interesting manner. TNLN TFTC

Woohoo, a new Mystery cache just in time for Pi Day . It didn't take me long to tune into the right wavelength. At the GZ there were 2 surprises. Firstly I was the (FTF) and secondly the cache container. How appropriate for this cache.
Thanks to TeamAstro for another great mystery cache for Norfolk Island. This gets the Endeavour3 stamp of approval
