Once again I am spending the weekend in Wanganui, and once again I have a Saturday afternoon free. Today I was prepared. I needed one more day of 50+ find to complete one part of the DGSc Challenge, and so today I was to focus on clearing out the Feilding area. An I did (mostly) thanks to a large number of recently published high quality hides, and a beautiful summers day. I had a lot of fun, spending ten hours floating around the region and gathering up Geocaches.Sadly, this is one that I could not find.
Up round this area for one of the power trails. We ending up caching for about 6 hours today. This was our first stop of the day2nd time here. We were surprised to find this quickly and we definitely checked here last time. Nice to make this a smileyI wrote in the log and placed the cache carefully back as found. TFTC. Thanks Pukas. for this Traditional cache! Pukas. , !Logged on 16 December 2023 at 11:09AM#772th find
A small group of us from Team SEAC consisting of Keylev, Stik-A-Crane, Uncle Sam and ourselves had come down from Auckland to spend the long weekend caching in the Manawatu area. The plan was to get as many as possible. Along the way we had some great adventures, many laughs, met some interesting people and found a wide selection of caches. Signed SEAC to save space on the log. TFTC.A day out today heading up to Apiti and then back down through Pohangina. Nice quick find here.
Day #3 of the Team SEAC extra long weekend little road trip for Labour Weekend.Well I was at the wrong end of the bridge so one of the others did the honours! Thanks for the cache
Day 3 of our caching trip to Palmerston North area with HeMaLuDy, UncleSamNZ, Keylev, and myself, signing in as SEAC or TEAM SEAC to save logbook space. A big thanks to all the CO's for cache placement and maintenance, making this trip the success that it was.TFTC.
A bit of night caching with the gang.Small group of caching buddies drove down from Auckland for the long weekend, and headed for Palmerston North area. Sorry for the generic posts, but we had so many caches to find.Had a great time, with so many laughs. Thanks to all the Cache owners who placed the caches. This was day 3 of our trip. All logs signed "SEAC" or "Team Seac"
Out on a 20/20 mission with Talla64, Taybee and TaybeeNZ and we couldn't resist going for this one as we were close to the area. Logged as TNZFT. Thanks for the cache Pukas.
On a caching mission with Flowerydaze, Taybee and TaybeeNZ mostly aiming at 20/20 caches but also picking others up on the way and this was one. Logged as TNZFT to save space on the log sheet. TFTC Pukas

Could see exactly where this should have been. Had a spare container on me, so replaced container. Hope this is ok. Tftc
WE first found this geocache 2 year ago. Today we went again taking a new generation of geocachers (our 11 year old twins) and it has been well and truly muggled. See the photo below.
Great hide! Needs some maintenance, the weather is getting to it a bit especially the rain.
Nice hide here which I attempted after dog walkers had departed. All good, though the lid a little brittle.
A second full weekend in the area and with early Autumn temperatures preceding a (likely) week of rain I was keen to get out and about for a days local caching. mrs c works on a Sunday at the minute so after dropping her off in Feilding I had a 'plan' of heading up the Pohangina Valley on one side of the river then return back on the other. My over-ambitious pocket query had a great number of possible options, though as the day wore on, and the dust accumulated on the Tiida I reined myself back in a little. Was still a great day to be out, nice and sunny, hardly any wind, and a haul of 64 caches, with 6 DNFs. Thanks to all COs but mostly watcache and Mar1sa for their prolific offerings.

Really struggled to get the lid off this one, it might need a little TLC, as the sun has caused the plastic to perish.
But as to the log, happy to have fond the cache and be signing the log.
Thanks Pukas for the hide

We are out and about on our bikes, visiting Ashurst for a geocaching day. And what an adventure it turned out to be. We were looking for the new bike trail but we had no real idea of how to get on to it and meanwhile we kept getting distracted by ... rivers, bridges? This one was fascinating - we looked on this side then on that one, etc, until we had a proper look and there it was after all! Earns a fav from us. Cache is all good. TFTC
A little bit of hunting around, but then I spotted the place to get the cache out before I spotted the cache! A cunning hide. All good here, and TFTC
Nice quick find if you look in the right place. Literally stood right next to it the saw it. Very nice. Tftc
I am out today finding the 20/20 series and any other cache that gets in the way.
Nice placement for this one. TFTC.

#1379. GB Leader and I are staying a few days in Hokowhitu, and decided to do an afternoon caching road trip to Ashhurst to pick up a few caches. The weather was looking a little dicey, but I wasn’t prepared for the downpour a few minutes ago. Boy, did it rain? I sheltered under a walkway until it finally eased.
Heading towards Feilding, this was the next cache in line. Walked past it until realising the error of my ways! Nice hide.
Tftc Pukas.

#8060. The last day of our long weekend road trip where we went to Hawkes Bay and Gisborne to find the TMGT caches and pick up a few other interesting caches on the way. Had hoped to do the Stickmen series today but the weather has packed in and its dense fog and drizzling up on the ridge. So instead came over here to Ashhurst. Another one I had not yet done in the town, Parked nearby and wandered over expecting a different type of hide. But soon spied the nicely camoed cache. Signed the log and replaced as found. Thanks Pukas for hiding your cache here.
I came out to check out Ashurst this arvo. Having notched up a DNF in Feilding this was a logical choice as quite well favourited. Clever obvious hide. Then I purchased a bag of delicious looking feijoas and spent a delightful afternoon in the library working on Wildbore geocaches.
What a wonderful little country library. Lovely ambience, warm, friendly and obviously the hub of the community. I would've stayed longer but it's getting dark with the sun about to set.
Anyway, thank you for your simple elegant geocache. I like it and give it another FP.

We were on our run home after venturing out for a multi. We needed some cache therapy (easy finds)! Thankfully a nice easy hide!

Just finished a week of work in Whanganui and heading home to the East coast. Long drive so stopping occasionally for a smiley. Quick find here. Thanks
# 1726 Out this way killing some time after an early knock off, and waiting for dinner. Thought i would clear up some caches out in Ashurst. I was lured to the brightly coloured thing on the fence, however, that is not the cache. Instead, it is more subtly hidden on more public land. Nice spot, cheers Pukas for this one.
Day out exploring Ashhurst and Pohangina.
Great little hiding place.
Easy park and hide.
Great to see the new houses going in where the old piggery was.

Located 30 caches in the Ashhurst-Pohangina region on a “day out” caching today. Needed two more caches at the end of the day to reach my target. This was the first of those two. Started looking on the wrong side of the bridge. Spotted it fairly quickly once I moved over to the correct side. #2573. TFTC.
Called here on a day drive from Wellington to find some more of the caches in the region. A quick find here once the GPSr settled and took me to the correct side of the road. Signed log, TFTC
20 January 2019 6:30 PM. Last find of the day, nice to end on a positive note! Tftc
Another cache for us to find, the horse was very inquisitive but didn't disturb us while we made the find. TFTC
It's been quite a caching weekend for me. I was hosting a Geocaching event here in Palmerston North on Saturday evening, so came up on Friday after work to stay over with friends. They kindly put me up a second night too, which has allowed me to spend today getting out and about to clear up some caches I've not attempted before as part of a very leisurely journey back down south again.
This was definitely a very quick park n grab. In fact, I was genuinely surprised to see that it was there as it isn't disguised in any way. But seeing that it looks like a brand new tin perhaps this one needs regular replacing? Being a Sunday morning, the whole area was very quiet which allowed me plenty of opportunity to be able to search around GZ without having to be super stealthy.
So it was a quick sign of the logbook, and then replaced exactly as discovered and I was then on my way to my next one.
Thank you for placing this cache, and bringing me to yet another place I haven't been to before.

Quick find, just as I found it i saw a muggle walking towards me luckily I'd parked my car just in the right place so they couldnt see me until I'd replaced it and stood up. TFTC Pukas

Road trip time! This weekend Team BOP consisted of Davidson Clan, TNXPro, Squirrelnutcase, FapAndGap, McJandals, NZFlossy & myself. We'd had this trip on the cards for a while but only recently had we locked in all the details. We were off to central Manawatu and we had a very narrow list of ‘must gets’ so this trip was essentially a numbers mission. We had a great time and managed just over 200 finds. Most of the caches were found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords and straight forward placements although we replaced a lot of logs and a few containers as well. A huge thank you to the CO’s as this was a beautiful area to visit and there was certainly an abundance of geocaches!!

Travelled to Manawatu area with BOP members for the weekend.
All logs signed as Team BOP.
Generally caches were good and all but 2 found.
Thanks to cache owners for placements. SLTFTC

Team BOP on tour in the Manawatu-Whanganui Region... With Gap (of Fap and Gap), (Mr) Davidson clan, McJandals, NZFlossy, Philip.Perry, and TNXPro.
This weekend had been in the pipeline for ages. It was always going to be a mission for various team members to get coordinated leave passes... We secured accommodation in the rural heart of the Manawatu. This placed us well within reach of a massive trail of caches... We travelled in one vehicle, so our journey was filled with lots of laughs, and good times... Fortunately, the majority of caches were in place and were fairly quick to locate - thanks to straightforward hints and great coordinates. Many of the caches had not been found in a while, so containers were waterlogged, and logbooks were wet... Thank goodness for waterproof paper. A huge thank you also, to the various COs who made our weekend worthwhile...
Our last cache find in the Ashhurst area... The logbook for this one was sitting on the ground. Sadly, the rest of the set up has either been destroyed or muggled. We replaced the container with a temporary job, and hope the CO can come in and do some repairs. TFTC.

Team BOP decided that with the MEGA rapidly approaching, we need to boost our numbers so we could try for a milestone number at the Mega. I am approaching my 3000th cache but was still about 325 caches away from that. Reaching the milestone may or may not happen, but this weekend certainly was about the numbers. I had an initial target I was trying to beat and that was my highest number of caches found in one day and we comfortably beat that, achieving 158 caches (subject to confirmation, once I log them all).
The best way to do the high numbers is with power trails and out here, there is a smorgasborg of powertrails.
We loaded up the van, gathered up all seven of us and headed to our accomodation somewhere in the middle of nowhere, getting there well after dark. The location was convenient, as it was right in the thick of a power trail territory.
There was no splitting us up, as we only had one vehicle, so we all experienced the cache locations, some beautiful and some not so.
As with powertails we have done in the past, there was a high proportion of waterlogged caches, but unlike powertails we have done previously, we managed to find every cache and were glad to be able to clear out an area. Also, with powertails, comes cut and paste logs, to which I apologise for.
Thanks to all those CO's who have placed the caches out there. Without you, our fun road trips wouldnt exist. We all had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend and got home completely shattered. It was so worth it.

On a road trip with Team BOP, having a blast and gathering a few smileys along the way. Please excuse generic logs in advance. Many Thanks to all you cache owners for the placements. Cheers log only. Have replaced container.
