After visiting a nearby cache we headed up to this one. A bit of searching and suddenly the hidden in plain sight cache was right in front of us. What a clever container. And no spider guardians here today! TFTC Membsec

Tftc, a fun adventure of a cache, couldnt decipher the hint but it all worked out in the end!

What a great cache!! The rain held off just long enough for us to retrieve this one and we loved it. Will be in the lookout for more letterbox caches in future.TFTC!!

28 June 2024 8:45amBrilliant. Big Grin No TOTT needed, which was lucky because the only one we had with us, other than a pen, was a ladder. Razz Neither was of any use getting into this well constructed gadget cache. Razz [^]Signed snd replaced as intended..... Locked. TwistedGeocaching in Tasmania with catnap777 on our honeymoon. [:X] [:X] And it doesn't get better than this. Big GrinWe were going to take on the SSF series today but cat' and I figured we had earned a break. Instead we took our TOTT for a walk around the southern end of the Rokeby Hills Bushland Reserve. We picked up all the caches of note on this hill, before traipsing up Mt Wellington to fetch the summit caches for cat' (I got them on my first visit) and a couple of others including the old "Organ Pipes" cache for both of us a little further down. We capped off an unbelievable day by supping on oysters and absinthe back at a festival market on Constitution Dock. CoolTFTC membsec Cool, fav added. Big Grin.....and thankyou Tasmania for an awesome honeymoon. [:X] [:X]

28 June 2024 08:44 simply awesome! We left our accommodation in the wee hours as we had a huge day planned, and it all started with this cache.I was worried that we wouldn't work out the second part of this well made clever cache, but my man wasn't going to let it get the best of himThank you membsec for always providing so much fun. Favourite point given. Our second last day in Tasmania. This week sure has flown. We dad a wonderful couple of days caching Melbourne on the eve of our wedding, and working our way to Geelong ready to board the ferry here for our honeymoon. Sunday 23rd of June, to Saturday 29th of June, 2024, will forever be etched in our memories for all the right reasons. The Apple Isle sure turned on some awesome weather for us, you would not have believed it was June.

I keep reading about this cache on another cachers log template so I had to find it and see what the fuss was about. After my failure at the other cool letterbox on South Arm (later rectified) I made sure I had thoroughly read this ones listing so I was properly prepared.Easily found the hide and following the simple instructions produced the cache. Lovely, had to get on my hands and knees to get the last bit back where it should be. Cache was in tip top condition.I think there should be golden FP for extra special caches that have a wow factor and if there was a golden FP then this one would get one. TFTC

This is a fun little field puzzle, lol.A while back, jetstar had flights to Launceston from Brisbane for $150 return. What a great opportunity to grab a new state, some new caches and meet some new people. Oh there was one other purpose, North Tassie. My caching buddy feels the cold so was a little sceptical to the timing and had second thoughts to the idea when I mentioned it, however flights were booked and the weekend finally arrived. Day two has arrived and it is an early start on a very foggy morning. The plan today was to head to Hobart grab a few selected caches along the way. Head to an evening event before a little more late night caching. Finally into Hobart and the fog has lifted to show a beautiful warm day. We headed around to caches on my hit list, mostly challenge and map of tassie caches with the occasional butterfly. We signed the logs and replaced the caches as we found them and then went on our way to the next cache. Thanks for the hide.

Six months ago on a very warm Brisbane day, Chamad found cheap return flights to Launceston. So with little thought, but 6 months to plan, the flights were booked - for a whirlwind 3 day weekend (travel time included). This was day two with an early morning drive to Hobart, collecting key caches along the way. It was a big day in Hobart chasing down a variety of caches, an event for dinner to meet others and then more caching late into the night. This was the last one for today, well in the daylight, and it was a great one! Favourite point awarded.

This cache definitely was a joint effort! RoadieM was keen to find this cache as it is now in her new back yard. She worked out the coords and then wandered up to see if she could get into the cache. Without success she asked me if I could have a look at the puzzle for the clue. With that decoded I called in and together with both Roadies we wandered up to Rokeby Park. With help from the clue we had the cache in hand after a bit of fiddling. Thanks membsec a great challenge and a fun cache. A favourite point awarded for ingenuity.

08-May-24
With this area now our new backyard I walked up here yesterday and located the cache. After unsuccessfully poking and prodding, gently of course, I realised that the puzzle definitely needed solving in order to access the cache.tassietan to the rescue!! I sent out an SOS, and in no time she had cracked the code! She came today so that we could go together and hopefully strike lucky.Yay...it was so simple once we had the right info! Although putting it all back was a little bit tricky. Thanks membsec..an ingenious and fun cache. Earns another favourite point.

I was on a time limit, so didn't give this one enough of a look really. I'll be back - I love the idea of the cache!

The cable ties had fallen off so we replaced these. Clever little cache

18-Dec-23
We caught the bus to Tranmere to find the last of the 7 types of caches for this trip. We walked around the area, solved some puzzles before hand and signed them today, dodging the on and off again drizzle. Mission was completed. Thanks for the walk to here and cache. TFTC

Taking some time off to explore more of the apple isle with Roaming Howie. Day One: Challenges, SSF & AdLabs.

Followed the instructions to open the cleverly constructed cache. A fav point heading your way.

It was time for a return trip to Tassie to explore the southern part of the state. I paired up with OzHockeyChick for a 5 day caching blitz with some sightseeing in between. Today was Day 1 and after a relatively uneventful flight in we were off and racing.

A clever construction here that lead to a neat find. A favourite point coming your way for the creation!

Thanks membsec for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

Started at the cache just before, though this one would be a challenge for us. We worked out the hint the night before. It took us awhile to find the physical cache as both our phones coordinates were off. After finally locating, an easy open after cracking the hint
Thankyou for maintaining this cache
Keep up the good work

Good find

28-Mar-23
Found while out caching with Zozetta for the first time in a few weeks, mainly finding ladder caches, and whatever was nearby. We started the day at Mount Rumney, then driving down to Tranmere and finally to Rokeby. Seven caches found for me, eight for Zozetta and nine challenges that we don’t yet qualify for found as well.

I figured out the final coords to this one a while ago, and while decoding the instructions took a bit longer, I eventually figured them out. We made it to GZ today and soon got the cache open. Brilliant, definitely getting a favourite point.

Thanks for the cache membsec! (and Rolph!)

Wow, unique! And beautiful! One of my favourite ever caching days yet again, each day better than the last. It feels good to be alive. TFTC - and thanks Rolf.

Searched yesterday without success. Tried again today and found it! My phone coordinates were a few metres off! No muggles on either days but plenty of wildlife. Intricate cache - thanks membsec! Signed the log and closed the cache back up safe and sound.

The letterbox has been refurbished and is in place ready to go again. Please do not try to force your way in , look after it and be careful to close it properly when finished and it may last another 10 years out in the bush.

Cache has had to be temporarily removed for a bit of a refit. Hope to have it back in place, rejuvenated, within 7 days.

TFTC,
15 finds today.
Teamed up with Nana nel for an adventure filled day caching. The aim was to do as many Challenge caches as we could and any other puzzles we has solved before leaving home.
How could we walk past this one. Added a favourite.

Out with Wazza9 today collecting a few smiley faces around Hobart, arrived at Posted GZ , read the description and did a walk, it wasn't long before Wazza9 had the letterbox open, stamped log and replaced, left a trackable to travel. Thanks to membsec. For an interesting cache,

Being Bean's closest cache to home, we've wanted to cross this off the list since we started caching but just haven't gotten around to it. We decided with the lovely weather this Father's Day, we'd make it out mission. After a lovely walk, we found this lovely cache! Very clever little design.
Cache and contents in A1 condition.

Exploring Tasmania with hellyonfire cache by cache. The weather has kept us on our toes and our ears frozen, and we enjoyed every moment. Thanks to all the cache owners for the creative hides and/or great locations.

We packed some lunch and headed out close to home on a Saturday morning to find some caches.
Not knowing what we would find as it being a letterbox we were pretty excited to find it! Not long on our travels and we found it, let's just say little miss Viking was over the moon to find an awesome cache! It did take us a little longer than it should have done but it was so much fun. Thank you for hiding something out of the ordinary ️

21-May-21
Wow can’t believe I solved that. Initially wasn’t going to try for it but had time and thought why not. A bit of fiddling and got there. Very clever. Thank you

15-May-21
I've been itching to get to this for a while now and had worked out the how in advance.

Miss3B had a nap and now some food as a distraction and was raring to go today. Delighted with the contents.

Getting in was a little tricky and closing it back trickier again but everything is in good order including a spider nest and millipedes.

Tftc and the physical puzzle

So stuck at home for a few weeks, what better time to catch up on logging, found, and unlogged caches. Sort of thought about trying this cache before but just kept on walking past. The last time I found one like this was out near Kelso in NSW. Still always worth the effort to locate this style of hiding.

JABs.

06-Jan-21
Well this was fun !
Found the closest access but didn't realise the added difficulty until arriving to GZ. !
Good thing the Oregon can calculate bearings, which made THAT part of the job easier ! Cool
The letterbox as another thing, after trying to nut it out, I did resort to the added information and found that I was on the right track anyway !
Thanks for the awesome hide , membsec ! Big Grin

We were in the Howrah/Tranmere area today and thought we would get a few caches. After arriving at the posted coordinates we started searching for the cache. After about 20 minutes we were getting nowhere so we called the CO for some help. "Um have you taken the bearing and distance to find the cache?". What? Oh dear, what idiots. Like a previous finder logged it pays to read the entire cache description before attempting to find. So off we went and found the cache quickly, but now the challenge of opening it. It took a good 10-15 minutes but we finally worked it out. The clue didn't help though a small nudge from the CO did. Relief to have signed the log and pleased to say there was no sign of the resident huntsman. Thanks Terry for your help. A favourite point from us. TFTC

11-Apr-20
After finding the letterbox relatively easily it took a while for the penny to drop on how to open. Our frozen fingers finally got it deciphered and sorted. Thank you for a very creative and challenging cache.

12-Jan-20
After the last finder’s comment we checked on the cache and have put it back together the way it should be! Please replace properly.

During all our caching in Hobart my wife was keen to wear her fitness tracker to see how hard she was or wasn’t working. The device itself was playing up and it seemed that we weren’t allowed to find any caches if it meant that some sort of exercise wasn’t broken into zeroes and ones.

When we got out of the car the fitness thingy roared to life and suddenly this cache was the most important thing on the planet. The finding of the cache wasn’t Mrs Woodyrothwell’s main goal but the walking up the hill and jogging in the bush was while I looked.

I found the cache and yelled out “here it is” but when I looked around I was all alone. I knew that if I just waited at GZ the crazy bush jogger traveling with me would come running by and I just needed to flag the bus down and catch a lift back to the car.

I’m not sure if there is meant to be a trick to getting the log out but the cache could be obtained without the loss of any brain cells and I am starting to run short on them. tftc

07-May-19
So with a change in travel plans we realised we would be Getting off in Hobart we could squeeze in a little bit of caching before heading north. So we selected a few caches and got solving.

Being a letter we where keen to add it to the list.
The hide was soon located and a few ideas came to mind to open it which one worked. We completed the inking duties and on putting it back noticed a large black spider moving so in the panic not sure if we correctly closed it all up. Apologies if we did not. TFTC.

I had previously read the logs to this magic cache and believe me the 30 favourite points are definitely well deserved so have another one membsec. Parked fairly close to GZ and with the new trail being built cachers soon will have a major trail to follow to GZ. To ensure the integrity of the mailbox I deciphed the opening instructions at home. They worked perfectly and soon had the cache in hand but yes the large arthropod still calls the mailbox it's home but don't worry when placing the cache back because it will have disappeared into his hidey hole. Had a little trouble with the backwards manoveures but it all slipped back into place and is ready for the next cacher added a TB so hopefully the mailman will come soon

30-Mar-19
Well what can I say about this letterbox. Easily one of the better ones I've found and an amazing advertisement for READING THE CACHE DESCRIPTION before starting. I blame the head cold for me milling about in confusion until the penny dropped. After that everything else fell into place.

29-Mar-19
After a leisurely, late start I had a great day today, visiting some old haunts, catching up with friends and finding a few caches, mostly on the eastern shore near Hobart.

My main caching focus today was on solved puzzles, challenge caches, letterbox hybrids and a multi and some traditionals that I had specifically targeted. Given the nature of many of the caches, I was very happy with 23 finds for the day.

Interesting construction with this one.

Thanks membsec for the cache.

11-Feb-19
Today we set out to track down most of the caches around Tranmere. At the end of our morning we ended up collecting nine traditional caches and this letterbox hybrid, with no DNFs. We've still got a couple to go in the area, but that's a great excuse to keep exploring!

This was our fifth cache of the morning. We'd never explored the area before, so we ended up taking a bit of a circuitous route to the GZ. Eventually we got there, and set about extracting the cache from the outer container - wasn't too difficult once we got the hang of it. Did get a little surprise from an over-sized arachnid squatter though!

This was definitely an interesting caching challenge, set in a lovely bushland setting! Thanks for introducing us to the area, and for the fun of puzzling out the cache container!

TFTC!

21-Jan-19
Found the cache quickly. I tried many options on opening but failed. So I used the additional instructions after working them out. I was really close to getting it myself. Anyway log signed.

20-Jan-19
Walked in to the cache this morning with relevant tools and completed the maintenance and improved the area around the hide. All is now in order and everything good with the cache. Resident Huntsmen have both now taken a walk but no guarantee they won't be back so take care.

19-Jan-19
Well we tried a couple different ways to find the best approach to this one. Settled on the end of Vitesse Ct. Grabbed the nearby trad first as this letterbox cache was to be our 2000th. The map showed there were clear paths but they didn't seem to be that clear in real life. We arrived at the posted co-ords only to find we had to do a bearing offset thingy for 50 metres... not too far but we are not good at working that stuff out! I PAF whilst GeowifeE just searched. After a few minutes GeowifeE yells out those lovely words... well just one word "HERE". We went running to her only to find a locked bird box. A re-read (proper read) through the description gave us the cryptic hint. We tossed round a few ideas how to decipher whilst the kids inspected the box. Unfortunately one of the cable ties broke which left the box hanging. We decided it best to break the other one rather than leave it hanging. (I messaged the CO to let them know.) Meanwhile GeowifeE and myself managed to decipher the hint. GeoboyB12 was implementing the instructions as we spoke them out loud (although we told him not to). My main reason telling him not to was i had read all the previous logs about the resident huntsman and now that we were up close and personal with the box ( it was on his lap) it posed even more of a threat. Geoboyb12 had it open but i had to tell him off and then tell him why but he walked off in a huff. GeowifeE was the brave one to complete the next steps, no way known i was going near it. Lucky cos the resident was in there and it was massive, i mean massive. Erica shooed it away and signed the log and then realized there was another huntsman in there. This one refused to leave. So she put the container back in and closed it all up. Fantastic little adventure for our 2000th cache, definitely unforgettable. Membsec called mewhilst i wrote this log and is aware the box needs maintenance. Thanks so much for this cache. Favorite given.

Down in Tassie for a fun weekend away for Lady membsec's surprise birthday bash!
I was fortunate to steal her away this afternoon for a couple of hours to create a few new smileys and catch up.
Finally I managed to find this fun letterbox, thankfully LadyM was here to help!

Thanks for the cache membsec Big Grin a favourite for sure!

And so begins the a "milestone" Birthday Celebration of one half of Membsec [^]
Whilst down from Brisbane for this "secret" celebration we decided, (well I should say IolantheK decided) to gather Mebsec's Tassie Geo-art and their Challenge series Razz

IolantheK did some computations and came up with final Smile
Cache itself was an easy enough find and was dry and in good condition [^]
The wood that the cache is made from is swelling in the rain so it was difficult to make the parts move Twisted

TFTC Membsec Cool A fav point from me for this one [^]

T-Tech and I flew from Brisbane to Hobart to be part of the milestone birthday of Lady membsec last night [^] It was a great celebration! Today we are attempting to collect all of their Map of Tasmania and YCDIT Challenge caches!

Now that THE MAP and YCDIT series are all sorted, I wanted to go and grab this one, as it had been mentioned at the party last night. On the drive over I used my smart phone to plot GZ and to decoded the instructions. There's an easement marked on the maps due west of GZ, and we followed it all the way up. T-Tech spied the letterbox first, and as usual was keen to solve it himself so I let him go for it, but after a couple of minutes he had to ask for the instructions! A neat job, so have a favourite point. It's been a great day out! TFTC, membsec.

I just had to give this cache another try and this morning was a great time to do so. As an added bonus (and a touristy thing), I've lucked into multiple wallaby sightings on both trips in this preserve!

I'd confirmed my coordinates with the CO which took me to the exact same location I'd searched before. I continually expanded my search area over about 30 minutes, then I hear footsteps. While trying to look casual (an American in the woods with a stick in his hand doesn't make for great disguise) I was happily greeted by another geocacher! We searched together and luckily he (I've forgotten his handle and he hasn't logged the find yet) found the cache! It turned out to be a full 22m away from the coordinates based on my GPS unit. My co-finder had similarly "off" coordinates. It seems to have not been an issue for previous finders, so I'd just say if you're reading this and didn't find the cache, expand your search radius a fair amount. Also, the cache is listed as "small", but in the U.S. we'd list it as "regular". Not that this matters as once you see it you know you've seen it, but I was searching in a lot of tiny places that this one would never have fit in.

I'd already figured out the secret to getting inside prior to my trip to Tassie, so working together (him finding and me opening) we soon both had the log signed. I also dropped 3 TBs that I brought over from the U.S. and grabbed the 1 I found inside to take back home with me.

This cache is definitely getting a favorite point! I wish I could give it 2 -- 1 for the location and 1 for the construction. A big thank you to the CO for the great communication to help me find this one!

So my last day In Tassie after a spectacular weekend caching with the boys SSRAT and Goose.
They deserted me today to do ‘work’.
So left alone I decided on an all out attack along the beach and a couple of hills all on foot. All up I cracked around 22km and some ripper caches.
Heading along this hill from a couple previous hides I hit the projections and saw a suspicious bloke head down/bum up.... he’s DEF looking for same as me haha.
We greeted each other and hit the greenery to try and find.
I ended up 19 Mtrs away but made the find.
Gulliver_snip made the entry into cache and we both LOVED THE BUILD !!
I love builds.... TFTC

11-Jun-18
Loved this Cache!!! After a little confusion of where to go, my partner and I split ways and found it.
The secret hint was fun to figure out but we deciphered it in no time.
There was a little (BIG) huntsman friend (NO FRIEND TO ME) in there but my partner in crime set him free.

P.S. PHOTO IS A SPOILER!!!!!!!

09-Jun-18
Greetings from Seattle!
Really sad to DNF this one as prior to coming to Tassie it was at the top of my list for caches to find ;( Guess it's just part of the game.
[I'd written the above as a draft. Prior to publishing my DNF the CO has confirmed the cache is still there. I apparently just need to (or should I say get to?) have another go at this one.]

29-Jan-18
The possible storm on the horizon didn't deter the mighty (stupid) Sherwood Rangers from setting off to find the cache. After locating the extremely impressive cache and working out the trick to opening it, the Friar said goodbye to his favorite trackable and promptly got lost on the way out.

14-Jan-18
I did the leg work for this one at home, did the projection an deciphered your good clue.
I needed that clue as it would not have been easy otherwise.
Great construction and a favourite point!

05-Jan-18
Needed to find this cache to complete a challenge and was worried that it might beat us but we found it quite quickly and managed to get it open without any dramas. Thanks for the effort you put into this cache membsec

31-Dec-17
An epic journey! Found the cache easily this morning when out trying to wear out Tassie Tart's geodog. How I found it easily is beyond me. No idea what the clues meant and had no wish to damage such a fine box so headed home to ponder. With the help of friends we solved the puzzle and later in the day I trekked back minus dog. Clearly he is the brains of the operation (which is a shock to all who know and love him) because it took me FOREVER to refind it!! The clues served me well and it was with glee and a bit of relief I eventually signed the log. TFTC it was an adventure and a half! Happy new year membsec.

25-Jul-17
Cache still in excellent order. Tidied up the camouflage to ensure that muggle-eyes do not spot it.

03-Jun-17
Proud of ourselves to find our first letterbox ! Our first attempt accompanied by "Bundy the Labradoodle" (non cache hunter unfortunately
- despite his name and our aspirations ....) had me searching in the correct area (no thanks to him-too busy caching wildlife).

Had a good look around, but no luck.

Spent some time at home puzzle solving.

Managed to convince younger Bundy Hunter (non canine) to accompany me after I had figured out the puzzle. The risk of "Eve's" appearance may be less too, which assisted in her deploy- despite the 3rd day of winter being a balmy 17 deg - I couldn't be sure Eve wasn't there (i didn't mention the arachnid residents ).

We accessed GZ via a slightly less "bush bashing" approach which the "Doodle" had taken days before. Landed ourselves at a similar spot to days before. GPS instruments today put us in a slightly different spot.

# do not overthink

Thanks for a fabulous experience!!

Beautiful craftsmanship

Thankyou memsec

01-Apr-17
Woohoo! Noticed that the CO had been for a maintenance visit and that it was currently free of arachnids. Excellent! Time for a visit. I noted down the extra information and the GeoGSP and I headed off. A little bit of frustration that although I had calculated correct coordinates for GZ, they weren't the ones I had entered into my GPSr (yes, I have an ancient GPSr and I have to manually (!!!!!) enter coordinates for every cache we go looking for). Anyway, back to basics to find the final location and there it was. I wish I had dragged a friend along to help find this one so they could see a great example of what geocaching is all about. Left a TB. Thanks so much for this cache Membsec, a favourite from me.

30-Mar-17
Did a maintenance run today. All in order and looks as though the friendly arachnid has looked for another home!

22-Jan-17
Today we explored Hobart and surrounds using geocaching as a guide and picking up a few caches on the way and this was one of them. An easy find at GZ when GPS settled down, but then to solve the problem on how to open it. Took some time but had log in hand and signed the log. Thanks membsec for the challenge.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

This has been a nemesis cache for me
Puzzle was really good actually finding it for me was the trick

Excellent challenge

Took a little while to find due to our less than average projection of 80 deg but came up with the cache on the third try. A lot of effort went into this cache which was much appreciated.

Thanks membsec for the cache , this one gets a fav point.

I saved getting this one till last seeing I got word it was a ripper [^]. My annual Tassie Trip at Xmas time to see Family and Friends has almost come to an end (sighs). I made my way to the listed co-ords and followed the instructions to head in another direction to be greeted by a well built and fantastic looking cache [^] Smile I have seen these kind of caches before and it reminded me of one in Port Augusta called "Puzzled" (been gone for a while now) so I knew what I had to do to "Access the Cache" the correct way Wink There was an Arachnid "Living it up" within the Taj Mahal for Spiders, but he was quietly "Shown the door", not killed, just evicted temporarily Big Grin (This cache easily earns a fave from me Wink) SL at 12:25 on Sat 7 Jan 2017. TN left a small wooden craft peg and 2 cards Smile stamped my signing of the log aswell. Closed the cache in reverse of how i opened it. TFTC membsec Smile

Cache has been repaired and replaced. It is all ready to go again. Hope that all cachers will preserve this wonderful cache and do not attempt to get in by brute force because this may permanently ruin the cache.

TFTC! Really cool cache... have been wanting to find this cache for ages...

Recent finder alerted us that this cache may need some attention. I has now been retrieved for some repair work and will be returned as soon as practical.

This was day 57 of our trip out of Sydney to visit the southern states of Victoria and Tasmania and it was day 15 of the Tasmanian part.

This was a really fun puzzle letter box cache. We first solved the puzzle to get the instructions on how to open the cache and then went on the hunt. We arrived at the listed co-ordinates and worked out the next step and headed off again. The cache was easy to spot before we actually reached it. We found a very well made cache and then followed the instructions to retrieve the container successfully. We did get a surprise though as the resident arachnid wasn't very impressed with being disturbed. After the log had been signed the cache was replaced as found by using the instructions in reverse. Thank you for bringing us to this area and thank you for placing this very interesting cache for us and others to find. We are giving it a favourite point for the fun, the puzzle and the construction of an interesting hide.

This was my first proper letterbox and since I only came across it in the field there was no time to "work out" the coordinates so I went with a good old scouts' Rough Guess, going off what the compass on the app could tell me. I wasn't too far off either, it put me about 20 meters away.

I'm really impressed by the build of this cache and the thought that went into it, it's going to be a sad day when the inevitable happens. I think I spent around 10 minutes trying to get in, focussing on the wrong thing. Then just as I worked out what had to happen but not how, it fell apart on me. I had to open it right up so I could work out how to close it properly.

The little fella that Tardis found to be inhabiting it was back and even though he ran off there's a fair chance he'll be there for the next finder as well. Thanks for this cache membsec, it's getting the first ever favourite point I've given out.

Found with aerial_tennille and Jill_cycle while out here getting an FTF with the cache owner of this cache. Was a lovely little adventure in this hilly area.

This was our prime targetted cache for today as it would allow us to claim another of those "find x in y" challenges we'd "pre-bagged" on our last trip to Qld. Besides that though, it was an excellent cache on so many levels and thoroughly deserves more visits than it's getting. A short walk in the bush, the "bush sculpture" en route, the gob-smacking views, the construction, the puzzling, the whoo-hoo moment... We'd done our homework so the "find" presented no dramas, though even with the instructions, getting to the log took us a little fiddling & faddling about. The 8-legged cache guardian seems to have attracted a mate to it's snug lair which we promptly [s]dispatched[/s] released into the wild (we think). Perhaps it's time to "baygon the towbar" (or was that pea beu the boot?). Thanks membsec & Rolf! Five thumbs up, two gold stars, an elephant stamp & of course another favorite point are yours & we are happy little cache-amites.

I came at this cross country from a nearby cache, which was a bit annoying until I hit one of the big tracks, which made life easier.
I used a GPS app on my phone to do the next step, though I probably could have just paced it out roughly.
It then took me a while to open the container because a) I had decoded the instructions and was following them, and b) I had decoded one of the words incorrectly.
Eventually, I had the cache free without actually being sure what I did for step 1, but I worked it out while closing it all up again.
Thanks.

Checked today and all in good order waiting for the next finder.

Yay; found it! Smile
Okay, so our bush navigation skills are very rusty. A more accurate GZ projection done online last night; and checked on geochecker as correct. Both amused and amazed that the 'decimal' component of both the lat. and lon. were exactly the same. So back this morning, and straight to GZ, no probs.
Thanks membsec for this cache, and sorry if yesterday's DNF dragged you back out to check. Not sure what time you were there. Good day today for it though. Cache has a resident huntsman of considerable size, and I'll include a pic of the 'resident' if I work out how. Also saw 3 very large wallabies.
Not been in them thar hills before, so thanks for the hide.

Mmm, think it only fair that a DNF is recorded; despite visiting the area on a very restricted time budget. Bit of an agricultural bash from WP1 to GZ; but unable to find the cache in the 10 to 15 minutes we had available; in the location we thought was 'about right'. Might have to do more precise preparation before we come back, but come back we will. Disappointing, as the instructions were solved, and anticipation of opening this well lauded cache was intense.....

Hello membsec

I was a bit worried about opening this cache as I didn't manage to work out the hint before I left.

Once at the the container I sat where many have sat before and pondered, and looked, and felt, and even talked to it, before working it out (No force was used).

One of the best containers I have seen.

Awesome cache! Annie and I saw it online and were keen to go track it down. Went to GZ and followed directions to cache. Didn't figure out clues to opening the cache beforehand due to our rush to get there, so we did it there following stainless-steel-rat's idea in using its roof as a desk for our paper. We spent ages on it, but it came apparent in the end!
Very nice cache container, well crafted and nifty. Made for a very interesting cache! Getting a 'favourite' from us!

In strict terms we probably ought mark as a DNF, but it was getting into the container that was the reason for not being able to claim a find. The instructions meant absolutely nothing to either of us.

After finding another cache in the area, we headed towards this cache using tracks that we had found along the way - certainly easier than bush bashing. We had previously calculated the final location of the cache and we went straight to the location where we found a very well constructed cache container. We really liked the design. Having decoded the instructions, access was straight forward, even made a little easier by the cache not having been assembled completely. The cache and contents were in good condition. We have seen many different styles of LetterBox caches since we started caching and this would be in the top ten. Whilst the cache container is certainly a letterbox, the projection component and the decoding of the access information gives the cache a strong element of a mystery/puzzle cache - certainly much more than a Letterbox Hybrid. Thanks for the hide membsec - it earns a favourite from us for the construction and presentation.

Late log, but we found this cache some time ago. We went in circles for a short while before sighting the container. It didn't take too long to figure out how to gain entry and the log was signed. I enjoy containers like this.

Really enjoyed this cache!
Initially I hadn't planned to find this cache today but as it was still on my GPSr from a few weeks ago when i thought I may have got a chance and seeing as though i was only a few 100 meters away I better see what the fuss was about Smile

Well worth it! Thanks very much for the extra effort to make such an interesting cache Smile

A lovely afternoon for caching. Made our way up the track, found GZ and set about finding the secret to enter. A beautifully created cache, deserves a favourite. TFTLB.

Wonderful cache. Found it whilst walking our cat Kirby! Thank you.

I had only been talking about this cache the other week while at the Pi day event and with a new cache published in the same reserve last night it was enough to get me to walk up the hill and go searching.

Having just got a FTF and gooseandeggs new cache I followed the good and not so good tracks to the listed coords, having not solved any of the hints or tips before hand I would be doing them in the field. So having added the new waypoint I set off and as soon as I was within 20 metres I spotted the cache and made my way to it, after a bit of a look and a feel round I ended up getting a bit of paper and working out the hints using the outer container as a desk, then it was a simple matter of following the instructions and what do you know I soon have the cache in hand and the log is soon signed and replaced.

This has to be the best letterbox I have found yet, I like to find caches where a bit of work has been put into it so it gets a favourite from me.

Thanks for the cache.

After a very social day on Saturday, and also this morning, we realized that we had been very inactive so we dragged the kids out of the house and drove up the hill. As we got out of the car I explained about the snake Old Saint had seen but told them it was probably too cold for one to be out today. They were scared to start with but soon forgot. I had forgotten to add a way point so we spend a few minutes searching the wrong location until I remembered. We then headed off toward the correct spot and soon we could see the cleverly made cache. Having already worked out how to open it, it fun to stand back and watch the kids try gently. A little prompting had them sorted out and we opened the cache. The kids made a couple of swaps and I stamped a piece of paper to glue in my caching book that I had stupidly left at home. Very enjoyable and well constructed letterbox cache. Thanks membsec (and Rolf - Geo936) it was just what the family needed today! A favourite point from us. TFTC

Hi membsec
After dropping the car off in Huonville to be re-braked; decided I needed to get some caches to fill a hole in the GC Calendar.
Found two caches before looking at phone for any new caches. This one popped up on the screen. Not too far away so went to have a look.
Had 273m (as the crow flies) to walk to WP1 from where I parked the car. An enjoyable walk to that spot.
The next 55m were just as easy and a quick find was had. Found the letterbox very quickly but that was where the joy stopped. Looked the box over and tried one or two methods to open it but without success.
An express method soon had the cache open without translating the numbers (No forcing the cache open either) - TeHeHe!!
The cache was opened and the log was Sainted at 1107hrs.
Well done re the cache construction. Thanks for helping complete another calendar day.
The walk back to where I started the walk was very pleasant. Not as much wind up here as on the Tranmere foreshore. Walking along, the body stops automatically and I wonder why? A few feet in front of me was an EVE TEMPTER (Snake)!! Even though at the point of stopping, I hadn't seen the belly crawler, senses took over and stopped me walking closer. How does it happen??? The reptile slipped away and I continued on without further excitement.
Congrats to DnA! for their FTF.
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint.

A perfect morning for a stroll in these hills. We love this area and the views from here. Thanks for giving us the excuse we needed to return.
Cache was located quickly thanks to the clear instructions.
We didn't have too much trouble retrieving the log book and were surprised to be FTF.
We were most impressed by the container.
A favourite point from us.
