28-Jan-24
As the summer break neared its end and the impending return to work loomed, the allure of a geocaching escapade became irresistible. Embarking on the journey were I C Nothing, monkeywand, and myself, with our sights set on the Wandoo series along Brookton Hwy. Our ambitious route extended further, promising stops in the charming towns of Beverly and York. The day commenced with an early morning start, as we gathered supplies and eagerly ventured into the hills. A personal mission added an extra layer of excitementI aimed to achieve my 8000th geocaching find. The morning unfolded with a series of successful park and grab discoveries along the relatively quiet highway, contributing significantly to our tally. As the afternoon sun cast its warm glow across the picturesque Western Australian landscape, our focus shifted to acquiring needed attributes and exploring caches nestled within the towns we passed. With the sun setting on our caching odyssey, we triumphantly returned to Perth, having amassed a pleasing total of 55 cache finds, 6 adventure labs collected, and encountered the challenge of a single elusive DNF. Thanks Kyzabra for placing Wandoo Series - Owners Tribute for me and others to find.I added my name to the log at 13:02 on 28/1/2024.This is find number 8019 for me.

Taurus Six and I are having an extra long weekend by tacking Friday on to make it a four day break. The weather is looking beautiful it is almost verging on summer rather than spring. Our general plan is to spend time in the York area , however to get there on day 1 we are taking a meandering route to clear some patches of geocaches along the way. The main route today is via the Old Bunbury Road to Pinjarra then up the South West Highway to Armadale , then along the Brookton Highway to Flint , then taking the back roads before joining the great Southern Highway to York. The flowers are out and looking beautiful the birds are out and in full song and all in all a great day for geocaching .This is our fifteenth cache find of the day after a leisurely lunch in Byford we headed to the Brookton Highway and made our way to Yarra Road . This is the first of our caches along the stretch of back road so far it is peaceful and muggle free. . Nice bit of bush, cache found quite quickly in likely spot. Thanks for the cache Kyzabra .

Nice quick find. Found with Redrobbin25. Tftc

14-Jul-23
On the road for a BYO Marshmallows event, number seven.

Heading for Kwolyin camp grounds for a couple of nights to hang out with like minded people, to have some laughs and a collect a few caches

Travelling on my own to the event, I stopped here due to the double espresso start me up I had a few hours before, while I pondered the area it hit me there was a cache close by. A quick check confirmed I was just 38 meters away. A bit of a hunt before consultation of the hint... then a further 10 minutes looking before it was spotted out in the open, maybe animals looking for a home

05-Apr-21
Made an early start to go up to 4x4 FOTT in the Hills. Did a few along Brookton Highway along the way. Tried 68 spots – only 1 DNF. I left the FOTT to get lunch and on the way back tackled the caches along Yarra Road – including Billy’s Toy Box – a long climb up and managed to get covered with ticks. Removed most at the top of the hill, then went back and had to remove another 40 odd back at the car. Did a variety of caches traditionals, mystery and Wherigos. Thanks for all the CO for setting up your caches.

10-Jan-19
Our caching run today included just a amall sample of the many caches in the Wandoo cache series, found along with ilook4geo. It was a matter of some animal, some vegetable and just a touch of mineral. The caches were chosen at random and there are plenty that we had to leave for another time. Each log had two names added before we moved on to the next one. Many thanks go to Kyzabra for adding to the number of caches to be found.

10-Jan-19
There are so many caches to be found around this area, so we just had to make a selection, while out caching with goimgplaces2. No problem with finding this one. Very happy to add another smiley to our map here. TFTC.

On the way back from a big day collecting some LGA's this one popped up on the Nuvi. I needed to stretch my legs so what better way to do it. A quick find once at GZ.

Glad I didn't have to travel too far down this road though, the corrugations were a nightmare.

West Oz Geocaching I found your cache at 3:58pm, this was the 9th of 10 finds for me today and brings my total find count to 3892. The cache was in good order and I replaced it as found.

Met up with ctvanderlinden and muskcat83 for the day in search of my 1000th find. Needed 52 to achieve this goal - we ended up with 101 for the day! It was a warm Australia Day, but a great way to spend the day in the bush, seeing kangaroos, wallaby's and even a race horse goanna! Thanks heaps for the series - we'll be back at some point to finish it off i'm sure!
The owners really deserve this tribute - what a great series they created here - good sizes to take geokids along as well.

Teamed up with ullyssia, Photo-Play and Bindi01 for a full day of caching, the biggest so far for all of us! We started by a walk to pick up the Cascades series, then we continued onto the Wandoo series. We found all the flowers (except one not in play), a few of the birds and all the animals, plus a few extras, ending up with 82 finds for the day. Most were quick finds as the coordinates were spot on. Thank you for the hide West Oz Geocaching, a well-deserved tribute to the Wandoo series COs.

05-Jan-17
A call went out and a plan was hatched to tackle the Wandoo series. Very early this morning we joined forces with WebblyWA to see how we would fair and with the expectation that it would be good to complete at least half the series. We started and just cached, cached and cached finishing 11.5 hours later with 138 finds and the series completed apart from one that is temp disabled. Had a great day and a huge thanks to the CO's and those that maintain the series. Sorry for the mostly generic logs.

Last find for the day @ 6.15pm

TFTC West Oz Geocaching this is find # 1734 for us

05-Jan-17
January's challenge mission for me was to collect at least 300 caches. Knowing I could get almost half way there with one series, I put out a call to see who would like to join me on an epic WANDOO day and Team Fratra was up for it so plans were made. We met up early collecting the first cache at 6.45am. Completing the series 11 and a half hours later, with No DNFs and only one glitch left on the map of a cache that is currently disabled. My total for the day finished up with a few extras at 140 as darkness, wind and rain set in.

It was a wonderful day and we had great weather for the majority of the day. Massive thanks to the COs and everyone that has put work into maintaining the series.

Cache #138 for the day.

TFTC West Oz Geocaching - The CO's certainly deserve a tribute for all their hard work.

My GPS would not settle here and it took a few minutes to find Smile. Got it in the end though!

With the holiday season upon us and a leave pass from Mrs jinta I decided to call up ol' mate Kyzabra and see if he was keen for a two day caching road trip... he came back with a pretty quick 'yep, let's go' Big Grin. Woohoo! Cool

We made a plan to start caching in Brookton and head out towards Hyden and Lake King and then loop back to Perth through Narrogin [^]. The main focus was grabbing caches in all the counties on the way through (9 or 10 different ones hopefully).

There were several archived caches that we added to the hit list as well as a few multis and an earthcache for good measure. Smile

A massive thanks here to West Oz Geocaching for placing this cache here and for tempting us to venture out to this glorious part of the state. Cheers!

jinta29 found your cache Wandoo Series - Owners Tribute on 29/12/2016, 7:35 AM. This is my find #6128 and find #1 today. I was able to get my name in the log book here and we replaced the cache as we found it. Thanks once again for placing this and bringing us to this location!

I was cruising the Wandoo Series and headed west along the highway was wondering when I would run into the roadworks that were breaking up the eastbound traffic into manic rushes every 10 to 15 minutes Razz

Here I found the answer to the traffic silliness !!
Not roadworks, but a prescribed burn next to the Highway to the west of here !!
A fire truck was parked at the intersection of Yarra Road and the Highway.
I headed north along Yarra Road, and stopped a couple of hundred metres down the road to find this cache on the un-burnt side of the road Big Grin

The west side of Yarra Road is toast !! [:o]

TFTC! Went for a drive out to York and decided to pickup a few caches that are new or I missed on my last visit. Thanks

09-Jan-16
On our way to deal with some 'Pink Panties' today, we decided we would take a short cut along Yarra Rd [:o)]. Yeah right ... i have never driven on such a badly corrugated rd in all my life Twisted. We decided to stop here to grab this one on the way past. Janine went of to find the cache, while i checked the Red Rocket over after our gruelling trip. Seemed she had suffered a battle injury and snapped off two of the four roll bar mounts in the tray Sad. Note to self : Never drive Yarra Rd again ... EVER!!

13-Dec-15
With a week touring around Perth, some time obviously had to be made for caching out here on the west coast. I started the day off slowly today with some short hikes, and then by lunchtime had decided to attempt finding over 100 caches solo today.

A lot of work has been put into this massive series, and the maintenance standard has been excellent. A deserving tribute indeed to everyone involved in setting up this Wandoo series.
Despite over 100 finds around here today I didn't get enough clues for the bonus box. Maybe on my next trip.

This was #45 of 105 today (DNFs = 0 so far).
Thanks for placing this cache, West Oz Geocaching, and thanks once again to all the COs who set out the Wandoo series.
