We bought a TOTT and although Steve is much more comfortable climbing a tree than using a ladder, this time the TOTT was utilised and it did the job nicely. Cute guardian.
No anxiety, log signed and extremely happy we chose this area for our trip. Thank you Gonefishen07, as always, another excellent cache.
Back again today after first visiting this spot 12 months ago. Sighted the cache back then but didn't have the necessary hardware to access it. Today I was much more prepared with my handy-dandy birthday present and soon had the logbook signed. Nice D/T to add to my grid. Thx Gonefishen07 ftc.
Happily the area was deserted, except for a local (see photo - looks a little like dad) that seems very well-prepared for this type of cache (although I don’t think his thumb-claws are great for holding a pen). And we were off up the tree faster than you can say “hey let’s get up the tree”.
Great adventure only marginally spoiled as dad dropped the lid - but a quick down-and-up and all was good again.
Thanks heaps for the adventure.
Visited the location but didn't have correct equipment and the adjacent area was very active - Another time perhaps!
Thanks for the hunt anyway Gonefishen07.
Keza spotted this one. Must’ve been an omen.
Still wondering what those bangs are. But after reading the description, we now know.
Thanks for bringing us here today by placing this cache, Gonefishen07
Looking up the wrong trees to see if we could spot it before GT37 (appropriately) spotted it. Didn’t take long before the cache was in hand and the log signed. Not sure what all the loud noises nearby were but we were not going to explore any closer, especially given the numerous keep out signs!
Thanks Gonefishen07 for the cache.
HUNTER999 provided a good ladder and we were away,
WITH SSRAT AND GOOSE&EGG
Last one for the day, thanks for the cool caches.
Thanks for a ripper mornings caching Gonefishen07
I was all set to go to the Dayboro Mega when a COVID outbreak stopped us dead in our tracks. The Tasmanian Govt was slow to react and open up borders again and, not wanting to risk 14 days quarantine, the trip was cancelled and a hasty little adventure was created to Melbourne and surrounds.
Well this Easter I wasn't planning on caching in Victoria at all, in fact myself and Goose of Gooseandegg were meant to be at the Mega in Dayboro Queensland but with the COVID outbreak and Dayboro being in a hot zone we would have had to go into 14 days of quarantine upon our return to Tasmania.
As it turned out this was lifted before we returned but it was too big a risk to take as neither of us wanted to be away from our families for that long or put them at risk.
So we spent almost a week finding rare D/Ts we needed, wonderful old caches and a few types that are in short supply in Tassie, thanks to all the COs for the hard work put into placing these caches.
Thanks for the cache.

This is one of the caches we found on out travles. I bit of team work and we had this one signed, the other near by one will have to wait till we can get a ladder.
Thanks Gonefishen07 for the cache.
I love area, really need to get down here more.
Cheers for the cache and the opportunity for some caching fun.
This cache had us laughing our heads off!!!!
Old men should know there limits...
After our success at the other T5 here, we were ready for anything and excited to chalk up our second cache in the same terrain category.
There were a fair few options to choose from, with the coordinates providing a variety of nearby trees before I spotted something out of the ordinary and it happened to be the cache!
This one wasn't going to benefit from being poked about with a stick - so, seeing as though there were a couple of available branches on the cache's tree, we decided this one would require a genuine ascent.
I was boosted up first (if you don't have a ladder then you may as well make your own) but couldn't quite scramble up high enough to reach the right branch to pull myself up, so the task was assigned to the youngest who happened to be very light and nimble, clambering up in seconds!
The logbook was retrieved and the container's guardian admired before everything was replaced and our second T5 was conquered!
Thanks to Gonefishen07 for placing this cache!

On a trip to Korumburra to attend a funeral but time to get Counties along the way. Smoky again. Not looking forward to going back home and the hectic smoke there. TFTC
Glad the sports ground was free today because it gave us the ability to park within 30 meters of this cache. While I jumped the gate stopping the cars, the girls took the other path. Glad I took my way, as the cache was obvious was my position. After seeing the cache, we grabbed the TOTT and I quickly had the log. 999HK then returned it back
Thanks for the cache Gone Fishen 07

Heading to Philip Island for a conference from Canberra. Picked up a few caches on the way, before stopping around midnight to sleep in the back of the car. Then up before light, stopping occassionally for a park and grab. I had earmarked a few specific high D/T caches to find, and came specifcally equipped for two in Outtrim. Cache soon spotted, and using the TOTT, I soon had the log signed. TFTC.
Since I did the Oxfam Trailwalker event (and numerous training walks prior) with Lost_and_Found_79 we have threatened to arrange a caching day out together. We finally agreed on the Grand Final public holiday and we headed south east to an area where neither of us had found many caches previously. After a few finds in Korumburra we headed to Outtrim and stopped for this one. Having grabbed the other T5 cache nearby we headed
on in hope to this one. The time it was spotted form the ground and I scooted up the ladder again. I got to the cache but couldn't remove the log so L&F79 played the ground role well and chucked up the tweezers for me to remove the log and sign. Our 28th find in a busy day of 35 total finds and a couple of DNFs. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the cache Gonefishen07.
After the success of the previous cache, we headed over to this one for a look. I spied the cache fairly quickly, and AT set off to find the cache. Turned out to be a bit of a reach for him, and the log also wasn't readily playing (i.e. wanted to stay in the cache). Not for the first time today, I ended up throwing a pair of tweezers up to AT (caught first time - talk about teamwork!). With the cache retrieved and signed, AT clambered back down. Thank goodness he had an appropriate TOTT in the car. Didn't think we would be attempting such caches when we set out today. Great container as well. TFTC
This was a great buzz as well to add my name to this cache.... Tftc
A decent crowd had gathered.
With some kids practicing in the Southern Cricket Nets they asked.....
"What are you doing Mr....?"
The bananas told them that with the success of the local Cricket Team that the Council were planning to build a large Grandstand here reaching back to this point. Today we are checking out the view from here.
Too many people believe anything the bananas say.
The locals were too preocupied with their own (cricket) game to notice us get on with our own (geocaching) game.
Fortunately the pistol club wasn't in action today!
Thanks, Gonefishen07.
Pacman: Greg, when are we ever going to back out this way with a ladder on hand?
Ok good point! Let's go!
Game was in full swing here however we were able to grab the cache completely out of sight. Thanks GFO07, not enough fave points left to dish out however this one is worthy of one
A bit of drive needed to be done today to get a few more locations for Victoria's Suduko puzzle so we headed down this way which we hadn't been to for years.
It was nice to head out into some dairy country. It reminded me of when I was a kid and lived on a dairy farm out the back of Warragul.
I checked for good D/T squares we needed and this one was in the zone we needed to be in so made sure I had the right tools in the back of the ute and we headed off.
Fleabag-'s keen eye spotted the cache at GZ, then we proceeded to work out how to use the collapsible tool and thankfully we did. Got a couple of bites from the small black ants while up there but otherwise all good.
Thanks Gonefishen07 for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.
I'd downloaded pocket queries into GSAK, drawn up my polygon based on Whereis.com's route, refreshed all of the caches within the polygon and then loaded the GPSr [^] We were set! [^]
Leaving at 6am, the Nuvi in Harry suddenly decided that we were NOT going to Bairnsdale via the freeway and Melbourne but that we WERE going to Bairnsdale via the Great Alpine Road [?] Amazingly we saw snow and snow skiers then had 32 degree heat and masses of dusty windy gales all in the one day on Saturday, the day of the 2 Months to the event in Alexandra - Bairnsdale event [?]
Then Sunday was more windy gales, scattered rain, more windy gales and sandblasting of our eyes and bodies while finding a multi in a cemetery and a free wash as we raced back over a pedestrian boardwalk at McGlockko's Beach
I did at least get to laugh as muggle partner tried to move an echidna off of the road and learned that their spines are hard, sharp and go through windcheaters The echidna was still saved though [^]
So many caches that I just did not have time to find however Oh boy! [^] So very pleased that I finally managed to find a couple of older caches that I have been wanting to find for some years now [^] The Billy Goat's Gruff and Devil Bend are now safely claimed as found [^]
Although Devil Bend, being the last cache for the day at 11pm before the mad freeway drive back to Shepp, had it's own story as yes of course the police arrived just as we got out of Harry [^] They loved Brodie and thought his ramp to get out of Harry was great
After breath testing muggle partner and checking both his licence and Harry's rego, they wished us good luck and made to leave
Seems they weren't interested in finding a fantastic old cache as they refused to come and help us find it!
Their comment as they left was 'if we get calls in about torchlights, we'll know it's you!'
14 cache finds today on a ripper caching day! [^]
It's caches like this that have led to my receiving a new magic geo tool The previous one was just too short for a short person like me and so now I have a slightly longer one
As it was, the slightly longer one was only just enough when combined with muggle partner's 6'3" but only just enough was good enough!
It was dark when we arrived here and we had a tad of trouble working out how to get into the area without climbing fences however a way in was eventually spotted.
We wandered in for reconnaissance as we weren't fishing the magic geo tool out from underneath the bags unless we figured it would reach the cache... and we figured that it would [^] and it did and now the log is signed [^] and the cache is found
Cute cache hide too, thankfully [^], as I was dreading trying to find a micro in the darkness when I was tired [)] and ill [xx(]

I asked Dad about it last night and he produced some black straps
And some pink towels to protect the roof racks
Loading up this morning took a while
Is that tight enough?
Will that rattle?
Is it going to slip? Move? Shift?
But by the end of the day we were smoother than a greased-up otter
Straps done and tight in a blink
Off and on in a smooth motion
And then off
To find some more treasure
As I continued to make my way across the state on a road trip from Newcastle to Alice Springs, I took a little detour out to visit a few select caches along the way. This one wasn't originally on the list, but as I happened to be in the area, I had to at least come and check it out. On first glance, I almost turned away as I didn't have the necessary equipment with me...but...in looking around the area, I found that there might be a chance of being able to reach it. With some props placed strategically, and some careful balancing, I managed to get myself into good enough position to retrieve the cache. Phew! Had a lot of fun with this one.

We are enjoying wandering the country roads and taking in the farmland scenes around here, Some fine looking cattle too.
A cloudy start to the day with drizzle keeping things cool, a strong wind at times and later on some delightful sunshine too.
3rd find of the day.
We decided to wander in here to check out exactly how much elevation we needed.
Luckily we had the right tool and the cache was found, the log was extracted and our name was written in the log care of Mr. S's hand.
Thanks to Gonefishen07 for an unexpected find.
With hubby home today was a perfect day for TeamThommo to come down and attack a couple of tree climbs we have wanted (needed) to do for a while... As we approached this one, I spotted a dead snake, Hubby picked it up and showed the kids for a pat. GROSS!!!
Thanks GoneFishen for placing these caches :)
I have had a pretty crummy week health wise so when I woke up feeling good and looked outside the sun was shinning and the birds were singing I couldn't have been more delighted to receive a message from my Caching partner in crime inviting me down to go caching with her and her capable not scared of heights hubby.
It was a bonus that the target caches were Gonfishen07 caches and two were also required our D/T matrix. Hooray!
With the ladder packed and Geo Tristan ready for the challenge this was the second one we ticked off the list.
Avoiding hte dead snake nearby - gosh it was Whiffy!
I'll admit it Tristan did the hard yards and I did give it a go after wards so I wasn't such a freeloader. I wasn't so confident with this one as I was with the last one. I do have a reputation to live up to though after local cachers validated my hashtag #fatchickupatree.
No photos today the holes in my inner thigh pants really were not flattering!

A nice little set up, however the camo cover was slightly broken and so we fixed it up with zip ties supplied by Keza herself
Thanks Gonefishen07.
This cache was on our list to do on the way down - we spotted the cache straight away and (once we got the ladder out) retrieve log to register the find.
Thanks Gonefishen07
We broke our drive to find this and a few others caches.
Went to check the cache high before getting the ladder out of the car.
Glad i could see it from the ground,
Luckily it was within my ladder high.
On the road with D@geo.
Thank you for the hide Gonefishen07
After getting three FTF's nearby utilising a ladder, Bounty Trackers mentioned that these two would be on the way home. Yep there was time so we headed to GZ, saw the cache and broken branch The cache was retrieved and logged!
Thanks for the cache Gonefishen07!!!

Find #6458
Having finished our grand final weekend adventure at Wilsons Prom, we decided to head for the pair of T5's that were just sitting here waiting to be found. We didn't have the intended special tool, but Oaky had an alternative available, so off we went..... My turn this time.
Thanks to Gonefishen07 for the cache. TNLN

Walked to GZ and Spotted the cache and started back to the geomobile to get the right tool for the job, when all hell broke lose.
Now after facing up to a Big Grey at one cache, getting swooped twice at the next cache, there was no way known that I was going to hang around and see how the local pistol club was going.
I will return another day for this cache
Poiter.h
This cache not only presented a challenge, it also gave us a great laugh!! It's amazing how macho boys can be when a tree climb is involved. They actually though if they just jumped high enough they would be able to hoist themselves onto limbs and get to the cache. How wrong they were!!
In the end they realised that teamwork was the only way they were going to get the cache, and this was awesome because it made for a great impromptu teaching moment. In the end the group made the find and we were happy that everyone came out unscathed!
Thanks for placing a 5 cache. It made for a real challenge.

Today I had one of my most enjoyable and adventurous days of caching to date. There were so many highlights to the day which included 2 FTF, another D/T loop completed, finding the oldest unloved active cache in the state, 4WD up in the Alpine region, caching in the snow and to top it off the weather was absolutely perfect.
Jacko83 and I had planned for today, to find the oldest unloved cache in Vic, 'King of the Castle', located about 40km north of Sale in the Alpine National Park. We were to meet in Sale early in the morning and head out from there. I had planned to find some caches around Morwell as I made my way to Sale, but that plan quickly changed when some new caches were published very early in the morning.
After managing a couple hours of sleep I was in the Prado heading east to Outtrim. The sun had still yet to rise as I made my way to GZ, and the only sounds were those of the birds welcoming the start of a new day. I initially wandered around, trying to determine which tree the hide was up in, as there were many in the area, until I then spotted the hide. OK, how do I get up there. Surveying the tree I worked out the best plan of attack.
Before long I was signing first place in the logbook and with that completed my 4th loop of the D/T matrix. The day could not of started of better. The morning drive I then took from Outtrim to Morwell through the Gippsland valleys was fantastic and the scenery quite beautiful.
Thanks Gonefishen07 for the cache. A fav for me.
