The temptation of finding nearly 1,000 caches on a road trip in South Australia was proving all too tempting. So a date was set, flights were booked, and a car was hired. The Rats, Steeba, Wilbert67 and I were off to tackle the On Ya Bike series, and surrounding caches. Cache logs were either stamped, or signed GG (Gong Gangsters). We covered a great many kilometres, finding caches and enjoying the scenery. We camped under the stars. We enjoyed cold weather, rain and a winter heat wave. We cached in the dark. We cached in the light. We found some ordinary caches, and some brilliant ones.As is so often the case with our trips, the banter was constant, the jeering persistent, and the company excellent. Mind you, it is a lot easier to listen to Rugby League on the radio in the great State of New South Wales! This boiler-plate log does not take anything away from some of the excellent caches that we found, and I am appreciative of all of the cache hiders for their efforts in placing and maintaining all of these hides. We all ticked over mini Milestones during this trip, but notably I found my 28,000th cache. A Milestone I am very happy to have shared with my mates; mates that I have found thousands of caches with previously. Heres to many more caching adventures!Cheers Wilbert67

Ahh a long weekend caching in South Australia with the Gong Gangsters is way too good an opportunity to pass up. With dates set and leave passes granted we managed a 4-day caching spree - targeting the On ya bike series. The variety of finds was wide and diverse, we travelled with our own totts. Our finds are logged with our Gangster stamp or GG on the smaller logs. Thanks to all the COs who provided us with a great weekend, filled with laughter, banter and much more that cant be said. Thanks to my fellow caching buddies - steeba, Hoojar and Wilbert.TFTC

Plans were made for the team to get back together to finish the on your bike series and whatever other series peaked our fancy. We organised it to happen after the Canberra Mega and travel in a convoy back to SA, safety in numbers they say. Our convoy consisted of feathertop, GoodLook, LB, Rapidlywild and us then meeting up in Mildura with The Drovers. After dinner and attending the event in Swan Reach we decided to head out for some night caching adventures. So headed out with The Drovers and Rapidlywild and collected a few more caches before calling it a night. Thanks for the hide LB and thanks for a fun adventure Rapidlywild.

Plans have been in place for a little while now about a convoy from the Canberra Mega to head over to SA and finish off what currently stands of the On Your Bike series. Today being day 3 of the trip away, todays convoy consisted of GoodLook, TheDame, feathertop, LB, The Drovers, FurfacesLL and myself. After a big day out and about, we all went and attended the event for dinner. After the event, The Drovers, FFLL and myself decided our caching day wasn't over, so we went out for a few more. Our main target was puzzle 7737. We decided to grab some trads once the puzzle was done, so it was time to sign a few of these OTDs. We didn't do them all, it was already getting late but having Large caches so close, we just had to give some of them a go. Unfortunately some of the containers are looking a little worse for wear but we were able to stamp all the ones we attempted. Thanks for the cache placement and maintenance LB Big Grin and thanks FurfacesLL for another fun trip away

This morning we finished the last cache on the bike trail. After finding some shade to have a drink and some lunch we checked out what else was in the area. The temperature is currently hovering around 43 degrees and will hit 44 by the end of the day. This series was our aim for the afternoon as they are all large which is something we don't have a lot of back home. All caches were found (including the archived one).tftc#8991

The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave me a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown me so many new and interesting places as Ive chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached with them and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Today we headed off once again for a paddle on the Murray, this time in the opposite direction to yesterday. The day promised to be another hot one so we began just after sunrise. The river was quiet and the breeze low as we paddled past moored houseboats, riverside homes and grassy banks. The caches proved to be less challenging than yesterday as we were able to access many from within our kayak. On the way back to our base camp at Bowhill, we took a long detour to make a start on the On Your Bike series around the Swan Reach area. And finally, a small number of the OTD trail. The large size is not so common so always great to find. A great variety of climbing, fishing, rock piles and other hides, we were successful in finding all we searched for. Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache and adding to our enjoyment.

Chasing the large caches and nature today oh project GC the things I do for you..The question was, was I going to survive being zapped by the Geo van each time I hopped out (electric shock) or those steroid march flies that kept hovering around the van...oh and the track .... the track wasn't great the rocks were big at one stage I thought I had succumbed to a flat tyre and RACV won't attend tracks only Rds...so it was a mixed bag of emotions with these caches.. most of the containers were damaged..all caches were found

Broken lidWe have had an absolute blast in Adelaide, we came primarily to attend The Great Leap Forward Mega Event, we also had a few days on Yorke Peninsular, a trip up to Jamestown and a full day yesterday picking up enough wherigo caches to fill our D/T grid with wherigos. Our last group of caches that are on our 'really want to find' list are these size large caches through the Swan River conservation park.We had hired a 4WD camper so that we could go off road if we wanted to, not that it was really needed for this track area but at least if anything had of gone wrong we would have had insurance. We were pleased we did not see anyone else while we were parked finding these caches as some of the tracks were not all that wide, but the caches were nice easy finds so we were not gone long from the vehicle. We wanted to target these size large as they are few and far between in New Zealand. This is our last day caching before we head home tomorrow, tired but fulfilled and delighted with what we have seen, where we have been and the amount of caching we have done.Thank you for placing this series of caches, and thank you for the smilies.I am sorry for the cut and paste logs but I am just not creative enough nor did I make enough notes to differentiate all the caches we found. Some of these caches need new lids on the buckets which I will put a note at the top of the caches that have broken lids.

Find # 11418Delayed post from 28/09/2023.. Just found a bunch I hadnt logged On my way to Mildura to meet up with some caching friends to begin our epic On Your Bike series adventure. Picking up some counties, oldies, and other specials along the route to add to my tally and to stretch the legs. This was a quick and easy find and here at Mallee Madness with Ronice88 and weirdobiker today. Celebrating this golden oldie, just shy of its 21st birthday. What an achievement. HUGE thanks to the CO and the TLC provided by so many throughout those years. Thanks so much for the many caches Hurtle and of course for giving me a reason and incentive to get out here, and to experience this part of the world in a different light Thanks LB for OTD 10.8 August 10th

Continuing on with my South Australian caching tour and the mad collection of caches in the state. I am again with the BOLD 7 and today it is going to be a mad assault on as many as we can get of the On your bike series. We are working from our digs down and first of collecting the around the world series and then heading towards sedan for the bikes and a few others as we pass along. There is so much to do and in such close proximity. It is surprising as to how well these caches are placed and have remained in place. It was to stop off and collect the caches and the traffic was a little hectic at times but manageable. Thanks for setting up these caches and maintaining the series. All caches were signed as BOLD 7 and replaced as found. The generic log signing is to save log replacements. Along the way we saw a few oldies, caches yes and a few that were just there for the fun, this was one of those fun to grab caches, thank you.

25-Feb-24
How very exciting the big trip has finally arrived! Down from Brisbane with a host of other geo friends with plans aplenty, enough to almost see us needing to extend or make a return visit. Our geonick for the trip is BOLD7 which is guaranteed to save the log paper for the 7 individual members of the team. As we make our way around sadly there wont be time for the usual individual logs and therefore just the old generic log will have to do. With little extra notes here and there if needed. Thank you for your cache which has added to my wonderful caching holiday. All challenges will be checked for qualifying at a future time.

Part of the BOLD07 experiment, helping South Aust climb out of the caves and into the modern world. Its something us east coasters experience daily and its only fitting to send out missionaries with baubles and trinkets to appease the locals.Good set of caches collected over the period leading up to and post the leap year MEGA. I was ready to ditch my notes of the trip and found a few more caches I hadn't logged, this being one of them. Thanks LB for adding to our South Aust adventure.

The BOLD and perhaps beautiful roamed Adelaide for the MEGA and toured the state of SA in search of adventure! Fab time and thanks to all the COs!

Bit of a Saturday drive to collect a few caches in the Swan Reach conservation parkGathered up all the large ones in the OTD series ( many have broken lids and need maintenance, 30th is full of water) as well as a 2002 oldie.Certainly got the number of steps up today.Had a few TOTT on board and needed to use a few of themThe geo bus looks a bit like a Zebra from the newly acquired bush pinstriping ??TFTCLogs created with the help of Garmin and GSAK.

Team log signed as JOOGS for OYB, OTD or individual names for caches unless we got muddled and did it in reverse!! Disregard dates in the log – we managed to find over 35 ways to write todays date - !!! from 23/8/23 to 1/3/24 go figure, what WERE we on today!!

Today was to try and finish parts of the OYB series taunting us with big green dots and we yearned to make yellow smiles from the chosen ones in the series!!

The adventure today was with JollyO and OzGrumpy! We all collected varying numbers over 100 today while we battled the heat, spider webs, trees and pole work, and lots of monkey business in the trees.

We saw a number of roos who saw us and we saw them seeing us seeing them. Picnic lunch under a shady tree. A great day with the obligatory laughter and banter.

All caches in good order or mild maintenance along the way. Thank you for the cache – SL TN LN

Find #5198. Found @ 15:23 with The Good Lady Wife, skirrel, j-bean.

On a holiday getaway multi-day road trip with the family, traveling from Melbourne to Adelaide via Renmark and back to Melbourne. The Renmark to Adelaide trip today, and one that was originally going to lighter on for caching, but we combined some getting larges with skirrel getting some learner hours.

We diverted the drive to Adelaide to find some large cache size and skirrel drive in between cache finds. The lid of the container is completely missing. The container was found upside down, and I replaced it that way, but there were all sorts of creepy crawlies that have decided that an inverted cache container is a great idea, I'm not sure I share that opinion.

Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache LíB

After spending the night in Swan Reach we back tracked to the Swan Reach Reserve to seek out the large container series that we didn’t get on our last trip here. They are buggar to open so we wore gloves to soften the blow lol

After three rather intense days of caching, focussing on the amazing "On Your Bike" geo-art, today we took the opportunity to enjoy the Murraylands in the company of fellow Victorians & caching companions - Suscoe.
What a neat trail, so informative and rewarding for date seekers.

**FEEDBACK TO CO:** This guy needs a new lid.

We started this series at the wrong end whilst we were having a great time looking around this area.
We decided that we would do as much as time allowed. Please excuse the generic logs but we spent most of our time taking photos and even forgot to look for two of the caches and had to go back.
Thank you for placing this series and bringing us out here. Thank you also for placing and now maintaining this series. It is a beautiful location.

We had some time to fill and took a look around the area. As there were quite a few caches near here, we decided that we would do as many as we could but must admit that I spent a lot of time taking photos. I think we had to double back for more than one cache that I just drove straight past. I am sorry about the generic logs but I didn't even think to take notes as I was enjoying the area. Thank you for the time, effort and money that has gone into placing and now looking after this great series. Thank you.

Today a small group - RoddyC, Hatzoff, Snickersalken, GrannySmith1947, HansandLinda started our journey of finding caches along the On Your Bike series.
There was loads of running, laughing, dust, flys etc. Brisa5 kindly came out to help us with his7 meter ladder to do the T5's. Unfortunatley someone has been through and lowered the caches and we really could have done these caches without the ladder. A phone call to the owner and up they went to their correct position.
We found all the caches we targeted in this series plus a few odds ones near by.

Adelaide and South Australia Trip Christmas 2021/2022. Day 13. The next phase of my journey is underway. I am in Loxton with Fitzy_1965, MinnieK, Sol de Lune and Smitten Granny to attempt to finish the On You Bike where-i-go caches. We have managed to solve them all before we arrived. Day 3 in the Riverland. Today we left the van park bright and early again and picked up where we left off yesterday. After finishing the Bike caches, we moved onto traditional and Puzzle caches beyond Swan Reach.

This trip to Loxton had been a year coming as I had missed out last year due to other commitments. The group had increased and the target list of caches was much higher. It had been a group effort to deal with all the jigsaw puzzles and then the Reverse Where-i-gos were sorted out with the various online tools. The trip was looking at risk as the COVID situation stretched and stretched, but at least SA kept to its plans to open the borders and we all jumped through the hoops required to get across the border. The weather was looking extreme as the journey approached and it did not disappoint. The daytime temps were from 36-42 over the days of this exercise and it made for some hard work and lots of water usage.

Thanks for the cache LíB

Day 4: SA/Vic Christmas holiday trip

Last Christmas holidays, fitzy_1965 and I (along with two geo-kids, Death Killer & my_name_jeff_1) headed to SA to visit family whilst we could, and to collect as many counties and caches as possible along the way. We decided even before getting home that we needed to go back. The added incentive of more On You Bike series sealed the deal. Fast forward through 2021 (because who wants to remember that), and here we are again. This time with extra company in the form of Sol de lune, Smittengranny and albida33.

Today we again got up early to try and beat some of the heat (think it must have been over 40 at some point). We managed to finish the On Your Bike series and then went on to complete the OTD August series and a number of Unknown caches along the way.

All caches were signed as FAMSS and were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

26,132. Found with minniek, Sol de Lune, Smittengranny and albida33 during our post Christmas / New Year trip over to South Australia and Victoria to tackle the On Your Bike and Paddle Steamer series among many other caches.

Today we started where we left off yesterday - just before Swan Reach. The goal being to finish the On Your Bike series finally and then on to the OTD and other caches. All caches were a nice quick find - sometimes using the appropriate TOTT - unless otherwise stated. Signed as FAMSS. This was another long hot day.

When minniek and I were in South Australia in January this year (2021) doing the On Your Bike series of (then) 100 Wherigo caches, we were talking to the CO who mentioned that a whole lot more were soon to be published, and they were - 512 more ! So once back home we set about solving all those new ones which was at least something to do during 'stay at home' orders effecting us. Then once they were all solved we planned a trip over to grab them. Then just to add to the fun the latest 152 were published just in time for us to spend time solving them all so we could get the whole set. With our caching friends Sol de Lune, Smittengranny and albida33 this series was our main aim, but with the 'Around the World in 81 caches' series, various solved puzzles and the Paddle Steamer as standby if we got the time.

We managed some BIG days caching and finished off the On Your Bike series in three days, then attempted the mammoth 'Around the World in 81 caches' series and some lovely high/rare D/T caches - all in searing summer heat peaking at over 40 degrees ! Once they were finally completed we headed over to the Mildura region for another two blistering hot days doing the Paddle Steamer series. After camping for five nights we finally relented and got hotel rooms for the last two nights and worked the air conditioning to the bone.

All in all an amazingly fun time was had, and we have all made room in our calendars for when the next part of the On Your Bike series is published - no pressure ! Highlights included many of the fun tree climbs, the pole caches which increased our skills at the recovery and replacements of those styled caches, and the relaxed times and banter around the camp site at the end of each tiring day - including New Years Eve !

Thanks to all the COs for contributing their caches to our fun times, and I must apologise for the generic logs as we did find well over one thousand caches which now require logging !

The decision was made to joined in the South Australia tour to hit up the On Ya Bike series with fitzy_1965, Minniek, Smittengranny and Albida33 (who had driven up from his Christmas visit to Adelaide). After getting across the SA border with only a stop for one of us to be (re) tested, we headed to our camping area at Loxton and set up camp.

Day 3 on the series trail dawned and once we had finished those On Ya Bike caches in this area we set about cleaning up a few other caches. The OTD August series was the first to be hit as the lure of 31 large caches was too much to ignore. While some of the caches have obviously been replaced, it was good to see the majority are still the original container. Of course, while grabbing that series of caches, we also passed many others that we stopped for. All caches were found without issue, apart from the 41 degree temp we encounted, and all were signed as FAMSS for fitzy_1965, Albida33, Minniek, Smittengranny and Sol de Lune.

Thanks to all the CO’s of the caches in this area and of course thanks for adding to the fun of our 7 adventure/road trip. SmileSmileSmileSmile

Yesterday Fitzy_63, Albida33, Minniek, Sol de Lune and I found about 350 of the On Your Bike Series so today we wanted to get back out and find to the end of the series. It was forecast to be even hotter today than yesterday so we decided to head out early. Of course the plan didn't work. We finished early and attacked another group of caches rather than go back to camp early

It was another great day of caching thanks to all the COs and nearly all caches were found to be in good order. Those that weren't will have individual notes added later. Logs were signed FAMSS

It has been a while since we had a JAMMS weekend and we were missing A, but a great day was had anyhow. Lots of getting our maps matching so for some caches we all got a smilie, other caches were for just one of us. Most caches were logged as JAMS but others may have had only one or two names.
Thanks to LíB from mogni Smile

A JAMS day had been organised (JJ52, mogni, Michells&hound and sir_spectre but no allister w) heading to Swan Reach for some of us to get the OTD buckets and clear our Swan Reach Conservation Park and for sir_spectre to finish the bike wherigo's. [^]

We had an early start with fog in the hills before it turned into a beautiful sunny day just perfect for caching. We saw lots of wildlife, the highlights being the emu crossing the road with her little baby quickly running in front of the car and a huge goanna that nearly landed on sir_spectre's head. Surprised

A fun day with a nice variety of caches found and we even managed the Adventure Lab while we were in Swan Reach. Big Grin

It was great to finally come here to find all the buckets which were mostly still good except for one that had been replaced with a container much smaller and a couple with broken lids. Big Grin

Thanks for the cache LíB. Smile

Out this afternoon picking up some On Your Bike Wherigos on this side of the river, as well as the OTD series in Swan Reach Conservation Park with the odd caches also grabbed.

All the caches were found after a short search and in good condition for their age. Only DNF’d one of these today but will return. TFTC and series 3LG!

Today, it was an epic day out targeting various series around Blanchetown, Waikerie and Swan Reach. After making a few miscellaneous stops in the Barossa and Truro towards Blanchetown, my first series were the *Riddlers Roonka Rampage Challenge* and *Ode to JLWE*, and those were found reasonably quickly.
After lunch, the late plan was completing the *Around the World in 81 caches* series, and they were certainly a challenge whilst solo. As light began to fade, I made a stop in Swan Reach Conservation Park, where I found various geocaches and completed the *On This Day (OTD) August* series.
With limited time remaining in Adelaide, I think it was FOMO that prolonged my motivation for such a long day.

I had heard and wanted to do these *On This Day (OTD) August* series in Swan Reach Conservation Park for some time, after hearing that they were a rare large cache size to add to one's statistics. It was certainly quite ambitious for me to try to complete this series today, and I ended up commencing with 31/08 at 20:30 hr, and it took me a little over 2.5 hr. Wowza! I quite liked this series - not as much time trying to find the cache at GZs like other OTD series, however they were rather long walks to be making from the track in the dark, and my fingers were quite raw from opening the container lids by the end (pro tip is to take a screwdriver).

Like others in the OTD series, I parked as close as I could within the track, and then made the walk to GZ under torchlight. Once there, the cache was a reasonably quick find, and the cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks 3LG aka. LíB for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

It was great to be out in the sunshine today, getting some exercise finding a few caches with EsromL in the Swan Reach Conservation Park. And we didn’t come across another soul all day!

All the caches in this series were found without any difficulty and, with the exception of one that had a broken lid, the containers and contents were in good condition.

I like to have a bit of a look through some of the log books when I do these types of cache trails and was a bit surprised (or maybe not?) to find names missing from quite a few of the logbooks despite them being logged online. Sadly, it seems to becoming increasingly common.

Thanks 3LG for the cache.

One of the targets for the day was to get this series. To be honest it was the large cache size for each of the series that was the driver. Each cache was found fairly easily and most were upright with rocks keeping them in place. This that weren't were returned to the upright position and left that way. While there were signs of a recent fire all had survived intact.

Out caching with Kapybeara and our geopup on our way to Morgan for the weekend. Tenth find of the day. GPS took a little while to settle, but found it after a few mins.TFTC Smile

We did this series after we had finished the On Ya Bike series, with that doing great things for our stats and this series did the same for our stats on caches sizes, having found just about all the Large caches I can in Tassie this was a joy do.

With the hides being so big it made for an easy search at each location, we worked our way along the tracks and collected all but one cache out this way due to us missing a track maybe and we didnt get near the letterbox.

Thanks to 3LG for all the hard work that went into putting this series out.

This was the Mega trip that started out as a simple trip to St Arnaud for just the Mega and turned into a mega road trip starting with myself and GooseandEgg flying into Adelaide to collect a rental 4WD so we could drive an indirect route to St Arnaud and then on to Melbourne so we could fly home again.

The Goose had put a lot of planning into the trip so we could both complete or get close to completing our D/T grids, collect a number of good interesting caches and cache types we didn't have many off.

For me this was the best organised Mega I have been to, the stand out was how the committee had managed to get the whole St Arnaud community to welcome us all to the area, just about everyone we meet knew what we were there for and I had no awkward moments explaining what Geocaching was.

This series caught my eye due to the size of the containers. So after a 4 hour stint doing the On Your Bike series we came to find On This Day – August 1-31 and a couple of others in the Swan Reach Conservation Park. All were found with no trouble and all with good coordinates. The tracks were certainly varying in their conditions but we weaved our way around with no trouble. It took longer to do than we anticipated but it was thoroughly enjoyable
Thanks LíB

When planning the St Arnaud mega trip I was keen to incorporate some missing D/T’s from my grid. Stainless steel rat suggested flying to Adelaide ‘on the way’ and driving across so a route was planned and a fun week of caching began. I cherry picked in my planning so as not to run out of time for the ones I wanted, and we added a few on the day if there was time. We met up with various teams along the way including a planned rendezvous with Tassie Trekkers in Kaniva for a fun days caching. I ended up with around five hundred finds (including labs) for the week, and still had plenty of time for socializing along the way. It was great to catch up with some old friends and of course make new ones.
Special thanks to the St Arnaud mega committee for a great weekend.

Another great day out with Anymules in search of the gems we needed to complete the current challenge. Wink And of course having done that we needed to grab a few more caches to return them to the museum. Razz But why stop there when there was still daylight. Cool

Our target was the August On This Day series in Swan Reach Conservation Park. [^] These will be generic logs unless something special happened. Simply Found it. Smile Then anything special below. You will be surprised at what we thought was special after four or five finds. Surprised
