Tftc. Took me around 90 minutes to complete. Certainly the fact that I have been a regular visitor to these gardens for the last 40 years helped a lot. I never tire of wandering through this magnificent place. Thanks for getting me back here yet again.

Regarding this puzzle, I've had multiple (perhaps five?) visits to the botanic gardens in the last three years living in Brisbane, and each time, I've had this geocache in the back of my mind. However, it was only my first and today's visit that were useful: **Location A** visited 7/04/2021; **Location B** visited 12/04/2024: **Location C** visited 7/04/2021; and **Location D** visited 12/04/2024.I was able to somewhat match **Location B** during my earlier visits, but I couldn't exactly get the location right, and it was only with a specific mission with my parents today, that allowed me to finally find the required information. With one final image to match, I thought **Location D** was the toughest as there were no obvious unique features, other than a sign. That did provide a clue, and we happened to randomly walk on to that location, much to my relief! With coordinates crunched, they pointed to a probable location. It was a site that I had visited previously, and I even wondered why there wasn't a geocache placed around there (and so there was!). A short drive to GZ, and the cache was found reasonably quickly. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks eggmanface for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. ---------- This morning, I planned to visit Nundah for the coffee [For the Tardy Mouse! #043](https://coord.info/GCAN69A) event, before needing to pick up my visiting parents from Adelaide at Brisbane Airport. Whilst in the vicinity, I also completed the [Nundah Historic Cemetery](https://labs.geocaching.com/goto/6ec04ac3-673d-4ff4-8ca5-cc82126d7c8e) Adventure Lab.In the afternoon, we visited the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium and then walked around the Mount Coot-tha Botanic Gardens, enjoying the sunshine and nice weather.

I have taken about five years to complete this cache. Yes, and there are five stories to go with that as well. Given i have 2 ALs in this garden one would think i should know the place backwards. Apparently not. After cross checking with other about the reason for my consistent failure to finish this story, I discovered a digit failure with one of my early WP discoveries. A failure i had not bothered to check and had long lost the photographic evidence. So, it was back again this morning for another enjoyable stroll around the gardens.

Wow, after about 5 different visits, I finally found B . Mind you, I had to wait about an hour for muggles to leave the place so the information could be seen.

18-Jan-24
Once more I leave horribly defeated by the cache after years of trying Today I had renewed confidence after finally cracking B. With ideal looking location I still found nothing, including namesake. Time to go back to the drawing borard me

We came to the Botanic Gardens to find the earthcache for Earthcache Day and decided to take a walk around completing this one while we were here. The weather was perfect for exploring the gardens and we managed to zero in on all the waypoints without much trouble even though tree growth has made some of them look quite different now. After calculating the final, we made our way over but came to a screeching halt as it had us needing to enter a garden. We went through the calculations again and came up with the same coords so decided to retrace our steps to check we hadnt written down an answer incorrectly. As it turns out, one number was misread and better coordinates were soon to hand. We made our way to the new coords and luckily found the cache in the first place we looked. A most enjoyable way to spend the morning. Thanks eggmanface

We recognised a couple of the locations and found what we were looking for immediately. Then we just wandered the paths using clues from the location pics. After a nice walk exploring some areas we dont often visit wed found all of the numbers. At GZ this was a quick find. All good and dry here. Very well placed out of reach of the nearby scratching turkey. Thank you.

I spent this lovely morning wandering around the gardens completing labs and other caches here. I was off to a great start with A being easily found. B was a little tricky, eventually realising where I needed to be I found the details easily. C was another easier one to find. D had me looking around in several different areas. I was so happy when I finally made the match.
With the numbers crunched and a gz not too far away, I headed over and found the cache. It was sitting in the open under a small bush, I have placed it back under the tree.
Thanks eggmanface for a great cache, I enjoyed doing something a little different.

03-Jul-23
Great way to spend an afternoon and explore the gardens. Lovely spots, and nice to appreciate. Location B is a little fruity with the changes to the gardens; but well worth it. Thanks

23-May-23
Thanks for an interesting walk around the botanical gardens. There has been a lot of changes since the photos you took as the clues. B was particularly difficult to find, that outlook is now completely obscured.

28-Apr-23
Back to same location as previous DNF . Nothing here.

17-Feb-23
When I first came to the gardens I looked at this cache and then set it aside to do last. Having done done all the other caches and ALs, I had seen enough of the gardens to know where all of these places were. It has taken a couple of days to collect all the info as the numbers were not all visible on the first day. Today I collected the last few numbers and then headed to the cache. There has been a lot of walking involved in this cache so it was nice to have a quick find at the end. TFTC!

Nice adventure. Over 3 hours.
Went much too far. Pics I was using seemed old. Scenery for some has changed especially B.

Following one of the near petrol consuming Adventure Labs I’ve ended up back at the Botanical Gardens…

Decided at the last minute to have a look at this cache too…

Starting with C, I thought I knew where B was, but stumbled on A instead… they finally getting B I turned my attention to D… I thought I knew where it was, but without any signage I missed it by about 100m… it was the Site Map that got me moving again…

My first calculated final was over the Western Freeway… using L rather than I made a difference… my second attempt had me just 25m away, but the COs comment about not needing to trample the plants pulled me up short…

Fending off the flying vampires I retired back to the car only to discover my mistake and my third final looked very promising… and there I found myself a cache…

Very happy to show this cache a little love today…

Tftc…

And we're back! No need to set foot in any garden beds.

Still planning on replacing this but have had to isolate this past week.

12-Jul-22
B has me stumped. Can see what is in photograph but cannot find the reference point. One path was closed but I doubt it was on that one.

12-Jul-22
I stopped by over the weekend and it looks like this might need replacing. Will try to fix soon.

Out walking in the gardens with my mate, found most locations easily but pic B stumped us a bit.

Found the cache it was pretty out in the open, not magnetic so rehid at base of tree

Well, it's a long and sad story for George! Came here some weeks ago, and eventually found A, B and C, but not D. Back a couple of days ago, obtained a track map (fat lot of good that was) to check off tracks as I explored them looking for D. By careful deduction was able to select a 'most probable' route for finding D, and it worked - I found D. Running out of time, decided to come back next day when the road would be open to vehicular traffic again and make less walking. Arrived at calculated GZ to find it over the other side of the 'do not enter' fence around the quarry! doh!! One would think a CO who loves setting sudoku and cross figure puzzle caches would be able to add 4 and 9 without making a mistake! But I decided one of the A, B, C, numbers must be wrong, so came back today with Mrs George (she's much worse with numbers than I am) and check A B C again. Well, yes, I had written a 3 instead of an 8 at one location, and got the others correct, so did the calculations again. GZ is not too far away so we set off by the easiest route. Turns out I have often parked nearly at GZ when walking though the Australian section of the gardens, and we made a quick find, log, and replace. Then had to twist Mrs George's arm to come and have a coffee at the cafe. TFTC, eggmanface. I feel for Russell's family. Our family lost a member during a bombing raid on Brest in WW2.

After work i needed to find a cache to continue my streak of a cache a day .This is day 107 of a cache a day. I finished work early and had read up about this cache and it looked like fun. I have been here lots of times and today i enjoyed the walk around . What a great idea for a cache. Once at gz i spotted the cache all out in the open and when i opened it up the log book was completely sodden. Luckily i had i nice dry log and zip lock bag to put in the cache which is still in not bad shape and i tucked it away in a spot i think it may have been as it fits nicely. I messaged the co to let them know. Thankyou for a really nice walk and fun time.

01-May-21
Another walk in these great gardens.
Had a good idea of where to look for the first four stories.
A few numbers scribbled on a leaf and I had a final.
Log is wet, otherwise ok.
The rain started as I walked back.
Thank you for hiding this geocache eggmanface

Went as a family trip. It was a busy day so plenty of mugger dodging and biding our time. Would definitely recommend to anyone who has an hour or two to wander the gardens

Lots of fun, found with Eloicius. We were delayed by Muggles sitting on top of the first set of coordinates... a bit of guesswork and the GPS later and we found the cache! Great way to explore the gardens. TFTC.

Found it with my son today. We only got halfway to weeks ago and had to come out for a second visit but we’re glad we did. Thanks for putting this together it was great fun. A great way to explore the park Smile

13-Jul-20
Well - I actually walked past 3 of the 4 location ( even took a picture at 2 of them) today without even looking at what this puzzle was about. As for the 4 th location I suspect I was in the general area.

Nice family day out.
Great little tour. Heaps of places to sit down. Cheers

27-Jun-20
At the gardens today with Linguafile which proved to be a lovely day out. We had a picnic lunch with the kids before going on the hunt. This puzzle proved to be the main event of the day. It took us around the gardens past the others so was our main focus.

Three of the photos were quite easy to locate, but one really threw us. We probably lost an hour looking for clues until Linguafile's sleuthing got us the location we wanted. All the numbers were assembled at the end of the day and the distance to GZ discouraged the rest of the Meerkats. So Mr Meerkat and Linguafile(x2) went to claim the prize.

I lovely final location and a tragic tale to end. This was a great multi on a lovely day out. Thanks eggmanface! A favorite point from us.

This cache will be remembered because of the fun but also it was the last find we found before hitting a restaurant and then a pub before such things were outlawed.

My wife and I had actually started this cache a couple of months ago but couldn’t find one of the locations. We were back this morning because we knew it would be easy to get a park and this cache needed to be rectified.

This time we raced around the locations we knew and this time turned left when last time we turned right. It’s the same luck you sometimes need when disarming a nuclear bomb. This time we did have all that we needed and set off to grab the cache.

We packed up and headed to teppenyaki for lunch and couldn’t believe our luck when we got a car park close. I went to the pub later in the day for a session and was happy to have been able to visit a pub for the first time in my life before they were closed. tftc

29-Aug-19
Out for the day caching with nikid1 around Mt Coot-tha & this was likely to be our last find for the day. I loved this walk around the gardens (& we made it much longer than it needed to be by struggling to find one of the locations but we eventually got there!) Did some calculations & headed to GZ for a quick find.
Thanks for the fun puzzle & my walk around the gardens eggmanface

29-Aug-19
After doing a few caches up the hill KerriMG and I decided to give this a try. We had some ideas on the location of a few of these and found them relatively easily. The last one I thought I knew where it would be and using the park map I could see where I wanted us to try but I kept getting us lost. As time was creeping away from us with school pick up time approaching we took one final turn and we were where we wanted to be and yes indeed it was correct. Clue noted and we had just enough time to race to GZ and made a quick find there.
Thanks for the fun cache.

A nice tour though the botanical garden. Found all locations quite quickly.

Thanks for the fun!

Great exploration around Botanical Gardens. I can tell you Google Maps work for coordinates but actual coordinate websites don't... my pregnant partner felt the pain of that realisation during the walking. Eep. Great day and clues though.

14-Apr-19
Will be looking to replace this one next weekend.

11-Feb-19
Looks like this needs replacing, disabling for now.

Had a great morning out with Alison from Melbourne who was up for Christine's 50th. We decided to show her Mt Cootha and do a bit of caching before she flew home. We found the four clues without any trouble and put together the final co-ords for the cache that lead us to a spot that fitted well with the theme of the clues but unfortunately no cache. Given hasn't been found for 6 months wondering if the cache is missing. We messaged the owner to see if we were in the right place. A great walk through the gardens nonetheless.

19-Aug-18
After visiting the planetarium I thought I would give this one a go. Second mystery cache for me. Was a beautiful walk around. Thank you for taking me on that tour Smile

28-Jul-18
After a visit to the planetarium I headed up here to locate this cache. I left my family at the bottom of the hill and started searching. I looked in a few places and then read some logs and found it quickly after that!
A few photos of the walls and then back down the hill to find the playground!

05-Jun-18
Wandered around the gardens and found the first three locations quickly. But the fourth eluded me for a while. I finally found it and got to GZ where I found the cache lying amongst some mulch in the garden. Not sure where it should have been as there was no magnet in it. I left it under a rock behind Russel

07-May-18
Loved this mystery! Loved the walk around the garden! Definitely would do again!!

13-Mar-18
TFTC. I come past this cache and its beautiful location quite a lot, and since It tends to go missing from time to time, I thought I’d check it again. Realised I didn’t post my last visit anyway so making up for it today. All good with the log; I emptied some water from the container. Cheers.

First time to the gardens. What a great way to see it. Did 2 loops as we didn’t read the description properly. At least we had an idea where each location was!

07-Jan-18
Great adventure. We are regulars to the gardens so all the photos were familiar to us and still took about 90mins to complete. Really enjoyed the “people” we were introduced to along the way. TFTC!

18-Nov-17

With rain coming down all day, we decided that the gardens would probably look very green and beautiful, and we had a feeling there would be no-one else walking around. We were right on both accounts. The Spring weather meant the flowers were out, the smells fragrant and the gardens we had almost to ourselves!
We had a couple of ideas for 2 of the photos and the other 2 took a little longer.
We loved the fact that this cache had us exploring the gardens. All of the spots were beautiful and told a story. At GZ, we saw Russell's story, and wandered around this very interesting area, reading various other plaques and history.
Thanks eggmanface.
A definite favourite for sure!

08-Oct-17
I was in the gardens gathering the E/C for international earth cache day, when I figured I had to have a go at this one as well. [^]

Now, what I should have done was take note of my surroundings while at the E/C, as I found myself passing back through a little later on. Instead, I headed inland direct for an area I knew where to head, and gathered the clue from location C. Right, now to wander around and find the rest. I strolled casually as I was in no rush, and did a lap of the outside of the gardnes, nipping in to location 2, then back to 1. That would have been the 1 I almost walked past on the way in... Twisted

I was held up at Location 1 bya breast feeding Mum. Hmm, a solo guy is not likely to approach that situation, so I sat on a nearby bench and waited a few minutes. With the coast clear, I moved in, grabbed the clue and went in search of the last.

I was almost back where I started, when one of the staff came cruising past in his golf buggy. Excellent I thought, as I pulled him up and asked him where I might go to find "this" spot... With directions on hand, I took a walk and found a fantastic area, fresh with flowing water after the rain... Big Grin

Last clue on hand, I calculated the final coords, but they looked very wrong. I tried a slightly different approach with the East decimals but again, that does not look right at all... [?]

So, after scratching my head for a while, I put out a call to Just A Trifle and asked them to confirm. That's when the old "You've got location A and D swapped around" penny dropped... DOH.

With a much better set of coords on hand, I was pleased to be at this particular location as it was only a short walk to the final. Into the hunt, there was a number of potential hiding places, but with the clues, I figured I knew where the container would be. About 21m from where my GPS wanted me, I put my hand on the container and added my name to the log.

Cache tucked back in place, I headed back to the car for a well earned drink. It was a great day to be out and about in the gardens, thanks for a well constructed cache.

Cheers eggmanface.

Had a wonderful day in the Botanical Gardens with Mum.
Wandered around looking for where we needed to be.
Grabbed all the clues and then the coordinates.
Thanks for the adventure and the design of this puzzle.

So funny, we'd already visited gz earlier in our quest. Whoa. Good explore. Love it here. Out walking with my geogirl who claims the find. Quick parks shutting

02-Jun-17
Mrs Just a Trifle was out for a day of caching fun with Raynersinoz. As usual, we tried to select specific caches which would assist at least one of us with achieving various goals we each have Cool

We had a great time along the way, especially as Raynersinoz was quite familiar with the area and had a good idea where to locate the various stories. As we got closer to ground zero, we found ourselves thoroughly enjoying the area and had a good laugh to ourselves when we eventually reached ground zero Surprised Overall we had a very enjoyable day Wink

Thank you eggmanface for having placed the cache for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy Cool A favourite point for a pleasant afternoon in the botanical gardens Razz

01-Jun-17
It's Thursday and time for some traipsing around Toowong with Mrs JAT Smile I loved this cache! This is the second cache I have now done with photo clues and it was so much fun to walk around the gardens looking for the different stories Wink When my daughter was small, we spent quite a bit of time at Mount Coot-tha, so I knew where 3 of the 4 photo clues were. The last clue though proved a bit trickier. As we had just done a complete circuit of Toowong Cemetery and were feeling a bit weary, we returned back to the car and drove to where we thought the last clue might be. Something had stood out in the last photo and we used this and a gardens map to pinpoint where we needed to go. Bingo! Now that we had the numbers we needed, we were able to head to GZ, ha! ha! Really? Very funny eggmanface, we had a chuckle to ourselves when we realised where the final was. Mrs JAT spied the little devil and it was with a sense of achievement that we signed the log. TFTC eggmanface, a well-deserved fave point for you

13-May-17
We were in the botanic gardens on Tuesday and decided to attempt this cache. After a walk to another cache we thought we recognised several of the photos but getting to the spot where the photo was taken took a little careful observation, particularly as the vegetation has grown since the photos were taken. After we found the required information at the first site we were certain we understood the significance of the cache name. At one way point we had to ask the muggles occupying the spot if they would mind moving so we could collect the information we needed. They were fascinated with our hobby even though they were in their late eighties. The last site took a little longer to locate but we got there using a little educated cacher guess work.

Calculations completed we had some feasible coordinates so headed to GZ where we found a final story that fitted the cache information. Search as we may we could not find the cache container. What a disappointment after such a great journey.

Rather than leaving Brisbane with a DNF on this cache we decided to contact the CO who checked and replaced the missing cache so that we were able to return today, locate the well hidden cache and be the first to sign the replacement log - 2 very happy Tasmanian visitors.

Thank you eggmanface for a novel puzzle that was beautifully constructed so that it not only took us one a wonderful tour of the gardens but told 5 great stories and challenged our powers of observation. A particular thankyou for your prompt response to our query. A geat puzzle cache that deserves more than the one favourite point we are able to allocate to it.

12-May-17
Just visited GZ and replaced the missing cache.

I've had a tip that this may be missing. I will drop by over the next week to check it out and replace if necessary.

What a lovely way to meander around the gardens , picking up clues and admiring the plants . TFTC

02-Apr-17
Third trip to the gardens to find all the waypoint information and today was the day the final story was uncovered. The first trip I wasn't sure what I was looking for and found nothing. The second trip literally sat on one of the stories and it clicked what I was chasing. With time running short had all but one of the waypoints. Today re-walked the tracks and it took a few paths before finding the last waypoint. It was only a short walk to ground zero and this was an area that I wasn't aware of. The fifth story may have been last one for this puzzle but many more were just up the walkway. Thanks for the cache eggmanface.

23-Jan-17
I was in the area with 1MinnieMoo to pick up a cache she was chasing. After finding that one, I suggested this onsite puzzle cache... seeing as we had a few hours spare. A quick look at the WPs and we discovered we were close to one. Not exactly sure what we were looking for, we took down some information that seemed to work and carried on.

The next 3 WPs all fell into place and then we sat down to do the maths. This is when we started to realize that we had something very wrong Red Face 1MinnieMoo saved the day however when she knew where we had taken false information. Back we went! Of course, that makes more sense Wink On to our final destination.

There was a muggle gardener blowing leaves about the place when we arrived but made sure to retrieve the well hidden beasty while he was not looking. Some scribble was left and we replaced the cache as found.

Thanks for the cache eggmanface Big Grin

23/1/17, 11:22 am Find #553

Boy did we stuff this one up! A cache by eggmanface but I think NyssaFlutterby and I almost had egg on our faces. We were nearby for another cache and decided to start at the closest of the stories to where we were rather than the first one and then work around. (This is partly because we were a little sore from our adventures on the weekend and were hoping we'd save ourselves a little walking.

Turns out this was not a good move, as when we had gathered all our clues and done our maths we were getting coords that were well off being where a final is likely for this one. We reevaluated and recalculated a number of times to no avail, and then it hit me that the first story we had grabbed wasn't right.

Back we headed to the suspect story and of course we immediately saw what we were after and where we went wrong - had we started at the first story and made our way here in the right order we would have known what we were after right away. A quick calculation once more and we had much more pleasing coordinates and made our way up to GZ for a quick find at an interesting location that I'm not sure I've visited before, with a gardener blowing leaves nearby.

Thanks for the cache eggmanface.

Great puzzle! Easy to find and still a bit tricky, love the smooth walk around the park and all its areas, a great place for a cache! Tftc

We recorded a clue incorrectly then re checked all the clues then did some incorrect maths then after looking for it at 3 different GZs we found it after we lost our pen. Recognise the red smudge as our mark Smile

We had a lot of fun finding the clues. The actual box was quite easy to find once we had the coordinates. Thanks for this one!!

That was an enjoyable change to the usual round we do here. Three of the way point were quite familar but one lead us along an unknown (to us) path. Great idea! TFTC, eggmanface

Yeh, found it.

It took me a while because I used my lunch hours. I followed the clues one a day. The GPS on my phone gave me some trouble with the final one (or I did a calculation mistake). It took me 3 lunch hours to find the final cache. On the end I ignored my crazy phone and used my common sense and pinned it down .... just to realize I left my pen at work. Not to worry I will go back and sign the log later this week. I feel accomplished.

Honeymoon in Down Under - what a great experience an wonderful time! We were able to travel from Melbourne to Brisbane (including Great Ocean Road, Bendigo, Echuca, Canberra, Blue Mountains, Sydney, Hunter Valley, Port Macquarie and many other great places!) 3,5 weeks in total. Of course we also had to search for some containers and Eclipse-boxes Wink!

First we thought this one would take too much time to find all of the stations. But after finding two of them by accident, we tried to figure out the other two - and it worked! Great idea, thanks to eggmanface!

3.5 weeks in Australia, 3300 km on the road and also many by foot, lots of animals - some nice (kangaroos, koalas!) and some less nice (spiders, snakes) -, frosty nights in the Blue Moutains, heavy storms and rainfall, and finally lovely sunny weather at the Gold Coast, many nice and relaxed people: this was a really great holiday in Australia! And not to forget: 80 caches found Smile

Originally, we did not want to solve this puzzle. But by chance, I recognized one of the pictures and then another one. So, we became enthusiastic and also discovered the other to spots. The final was quickly calculated and found. It was a really great visit to the botanical garden!

I thought spending some time in the botanic gardens finding a puzzle cache sounded like a great idea for the afternoon. I love how unique this puzzle is. I have been in the area a number of times before, so had some idea of the waypoints, for the first 3 were found easily. Took a little longer with the 4th picture, but with some logic and perception I found it. Then after some calculations it was on to the final. Quick find, and time to sit and take in the area. My family have a number of these plaques on seats, even in botanical gardens (in New Zealand), so I was a bit nostalgic. Great puzzle and walk. TFTC

A clever mystery in a top spot, but sometimes you have to be patient with all the muggles. There was no logbook in the cache itself so I signed the geocache explanation in it.
Many thanks

Solved this puzzle a little while ago, got all the way to the GZ, searched and searched but the cache had gone missing. Msgd the owner and thankfully they have now replaced the cache. Popped in on the way home to finally mark this one off. Great puzzle and a great way to see the gardens. Tftc!!

Fun walking around. Took us a while find D and we somehow mucked up the final coords, but made the find anyway! Thanks for the fun morning in the gardens. A favourite point from me!

Angloj and I headed down from Toowoomba to grab a few caches around Bris. With no real plan set and making it up as we go we decided to head to the Mt Cootha gardens as we left our previous find. Once that decision was made my tummy did a few circles. Last time I searched for caches here I managed to stack it and injured my ankle. I was going back and determined not to repeat history! Pulling up here with the goal to find the traditional we spotted this puzzle and thought we would give it a go. The first three pictures came fairly easily, the last one not so much. But we had the numbers, well we thought we did but they weren't taking us anywhere we could go. We kept going and lucky for us we managed to find the hide. Angloj signed the log and so far the ankle was still in one place. TFTC eggmanface

Looks like this has gone missing. I'll try to have it back up within a couple of weeks.
