Day 4 of my tour of Central NSW. Hoping to chase some LGAs and other points of interest. Left Gilgandra and headed West with Bourke as the target for the end of the day. First stop was Nevertire where a slosh through the wet found this cache. Luckily it's a fine sunny day and the shoes will dry out. Next stop was just a quick pitstop but cache is not quite the way it should be. Arrived at Nyngan and collected a few outback caches then rolling on down the Mitchell Hwy for a few more. Arrived in Bourke and headed to see Fred Hollows grave. Not seen kangarroos in a cemetery too often nor a pet cemetery too often. Tftc

Found with a little judicious looking by Mrs. Gumby. Back into town now for a spot of brunch.

It's so nice to find a pet cemetery. They are such loving, loyal little beings, and their lives are far too short. We found this cache at night. Unlike so many who freak out, I've always loved cemeteries. They feel so peaceful to me. Our gps was a little out, so while genghicat searched where his arrow pointed, I went to where I'd hide something. The cache was in good condition. Tftc

I stopped by this one as I was on my way into town but it took a few moments before I finally spotted the stash at 17:00 a little lower than I first thought. Surprised (At one stage there, I thought that Stephen King might have been haunting me. Wink )

TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks Bourkebornandbred.

Freddo and Team Waldron headed to warmer climes around Broken Hill, Cobar, Bourke, Cunnamulla
and Charleville.

After a cold start in Broken Hill the weather improved once we got further north. Sadly our last night in Broken was wet which, pardon the pun, put a dampener on things.

All up it was a great week away and lots of caches were found with only 3 dnfs.

Thanks to all who placed and maintained their caches. The occasional cache was damaged and we refurbished it and we also left new logbooks as required.

A quick find as we toured Bourke early on a chilly morning. An odd spot.

Quick find here. I see dead animals.

Freddo and Team Waldron are heading north for a long delayed trip to the caching fields of Cunnamulla. This cache was found on our journey. Caches were fixed where necessary. Fresh log books added. Containers refreshed.

Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke für den Cache. Gracias por el caché. Bedankt voor de cache. Kiitos kätköstä. Zikomo posungira. Terima kasih untuk cache. Hvala cache. Köszönöm a cache. Nga mihi mo te keteroki. Dankie vir die kas.

Cairns to Sydney Road Trip
Day Six: Charleville to Bourke
Weather: all over the place.

Greetings from a transiting South Australian.

One of five Bourkebornandbred caches found as I wandered around and familiarised myself with town.

As expected, it’s on the outside of the cemetery fence, and there is no exit on that side, but I did get to see Fred Hollows, which I was certainly not expecting.

Thanks for the cache BB&B!

It’s on! GCA1DNA “The Great Leap Forward”

How wonderful having a pet cemetery, so many folk including ourselves have had to leave our pets when we move on from our homes and their last resting place.

We had planned a road trip to Queensland to visit family in 2021, but our travel plans were stalled due to border closures during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that the world was trying to get back to a semi normal state, we decided to have another go at getting away from the cold and head up north for some sunshine and warmth. Day 3 of our trip saw us tackle Bourke and cross the border to Cunnamulla for the Paroo puzzles. Again the wildlife showed themselves, some a bit too close for comfort. The roads for the trails were all in good condition which made the driving between them bearable and an enjoyable day in the red dirt.

Our apologies for the generic log, but thank you to all the cache owners for the placements.

Revisiting Bourke for the third time from TAS, but this time its mostly to see the town from a geocacher's perspective. So far so good on these bornandbred caches, but looks like the dog lovers of Bourke Shire need to have a collective working bee. Thanks for giving us an incentive for a few laid back cruisey days Bourkebornandbred.

Neither of us have been to a dedicated animal cemetery before as far as we can recall. We found it a little awkward as the burial areas aren't well defined so you aren't sure where you are walking. The cache was found without any problems. Thanks for placing it.

Fun, adventure, travel, history, geology, mental stimulation, social gatherings, support and friendship are just some of the elements of geocaching.

Out and about enjoying the opportunity to grab a few caches, yours being one of those I targeted on my journey today. Thanks ??

Thanks Bourkebornandbred for placing this cache and adding to our game.

Interesting thing having a pet cemetery. Found quite a few with decent headstones, testimony to how their owners miss them, and quite a few empty stubbies, as if their owners still visited. Interesting. Found quickly, accurate coords. Tftc

frmen1 and I love cemeteries and the history lessons that they teach us. But this is something that we have rarely seen. Thank you to the gentleman who started this (RIP) and condolences to those who have lost a loved one. We have a pet cemetery in the back corner of our garden, where all 2 and 4 legged pets have been buried with respect. Thank you for bringing us here. Fav pt for highlighting this. TFTC

A bit of a look and we were signing the log

We arrived in Bourke yesterday after slowly making our way here from Victoria in around 4 weeks. This trip is our turn to take it slowly, explore the small country towns on our way, and generally take time to get to know the regions and places we may not have heard anything about. Bourke has turned out to be a surprise. We have found many lovely spots and surprising things to see. Many of them have been because a cache has taken us nearby. That is one of the things we love about caching. The local knowledge which gives us a glimpse of things we would otherwise miss.
Thanks to all the local cachers that have show us this great area,
TFTC
