Travelled up to Clifton via West Haldon and from there, out towards Leyburn to do some tree fishing caches. Then I travelled north towards Toowoomba to finish off some outstanding caches at Mount Peel Bushland Park.Back to mop up the last of the Mount Peel Bushland Park caches. Nice little steep climb up to the summit to get the heart going. Great spot for a seat to admire the views. TFTC. TNLN. SL. TBs Prado Owl ; The Great Leap Forward Geocoin ; Bee Croc ; Rawhide ; RobS72 2000 Finds GC ; Forest Hill Ear Tag ; Iceland Geocoin ; and Kiwi Bird visited.Find # 2164.
After a huge day of caching, Muggle65 and l decided to finish the day with a quick run up Mt Peel. Cache found in good order. Thank you so much
Aghh Mt Peel, again we meet!! I think this is my third visit here with each time finding selected caches to help boosting our D/T loop at that time.
We have returned to collect a few lower D/T caches today which should help finish loops 23,24 & 25

With a couple of geocaching event on the calendar in Toowoomba this weekend, Duppers and I decided to head on Friday. After a am knock off from work, I headed over and picked up my geocaching buddy. A quick stop for coffee and brunch, we were soon on our way to Toowoomba.
Peel mountain was our target area for the day.
After a bit of a climb, the cache was soon in hand.

Beautiful view from the top here, it was also nice to get a bit of a breeze to refresh us a little. All up we hiked close to 10Ks around Mt Peel, and found 18 caches. It was not the most straightforward journey, but it was an enjoyable and successful day. Of course, I can say that now whilst logging. At the time I was exhausted from not eating for about 20 hours. Not a great idea when planning a hike! Thanks for making us stop here to enjoy the views over Toowoomba. TFTC
A trip to Perth checking out some of the awesome places along the way in ACT, NSW, Qld and NT. Grabbing some old caches and missing LGAs. TFTC.
Great views. Today I found out that the trucks of Prickly Pears are also prickly.

Visiting friends in Toowoomba, so decided to do a walk and geocaching here as I qualified for some of the challenge caches. Spent about 3 hrs finding 10 caches. Quick find but damp inside as the lid was not on tightly. Enjoyed the view. Tftc
There used to be a Trig on this summit. All that remains is some broken concrete and a bit of angle-iron. I found this cache though. Thanks for placing.
Cheers

So grateful that the sun has come out to play though there was still a nice breeze as the KellerClann duo and I meandered the trails here. The locals are a little nervous of my inclination to jump into bushes as the dangers are much higher here than in Ireland but it's a fine balance between care and determination we saw some interesting wildlife on our ramble including Roo, Wallabies and a Goana! We took the long way around to this making a quick find at the top. Coming back down was a little more problematic as a giant cactus tree had fall across the path. TFTC
A view with appeal
A hard climb will reveal
But the view is certainly worth it.
More caches to find
If you don't mind
So to its GZ I've returned it.

Headed out to Toowoomba for a day of caching with Peppa and this was our target area
I huffed and puffed my way up hill (I didn’t realise just how unfit I was). This meant that Peppa was at GZ first and had the cache in hand as I arrived. That allowed me to stand and admire the view while Peppa stamped our names into the log book.
Lovely view and a great place for a cache.

July is all about challenges thanks to the latest Georode Monthly Challenge in Brisbane… and Mt Peel is rich in unsigned challenges…
So I assembled a group of willing Brisbanites, and a plan was hatched for today…. A couple withdrew leaving just nikid1 and I to enjoy the glorious weather and environment up here on the range…
Now we’re starting to experience the “Mount” in Mt Peel… a small climb and here we are… surprisingly we had no trouble locating the cache… it was under the first thing we moved….
Although we did replace the snap lock bag and added silica to help with the damp…

So glad I persisted and kept looking. Went past it twice because I was being cautious with the long grass in the area. Very happy to find this one
The bag and log is very wet despite being inside the container but still managed to sign ok.
Thank you for the challenge

Well this was certainly a day of adventures! I actually came to Mt Peel to find a particular cache but wasn’t successful. I’ve been to this parkland before, but not this part, so it was nice to discover it. I did the loop, climbing around the back way and stopping near the top to rest in the shade and admire the views to the south, then on to the summit. It was pretty hot and windy so I didn’t stay long. Just enough to appreciate the vista and the find the cache, then I head back down over the rock scramble. TFTC and highlighting this beautiful spot.
During our stay in Toowoomba, we wanted to suck in the views of Mount Peel.
We enjoyed the spectacular views at various lookouts, were mainly interested in the Challenge caches, but unfortunately we couldn't find a cat nor 3 of the Scavenger caches in the overgrown areas.
We found the cache open and empty, but a bit of search and we found the wet logsheet, a car and a little thingi. We dried the whole lot as good as possible and put it in its hiding spot.

We enjoyed a rest and the views from this summit before walking the extra few meters to locate this hide. Not sure whether the energy levels had fallen but this seemed a more strenuous hike to this peak than the Mt Peel walk.
It was great to add our name to the log sheet.

After having spent the last 2 days caching in, north and south of Oakey with a great caching crew, and having a 4 day weekend, it was an easy decision to make to stay an extra night in Toowoomba to cache through Mt Peel with Domsky.
We took a very long time to arrive at gz, we followed a very windy pathway which towards the end became quite steep. But, we got to where we needed to go and we were happy to find the cache. After signing the log we continued our journey.
Thanks MalDawg for placing the cache here.

Second for the day. I've walked here a bit, but not up here. Spectacular views. Tftc
I thought twice about heading up for this one because I was starting to get a little bit weary, but I’m glad I did.
In perfect conditions today, the views were stunning.
The cache was quickly found and I took it all up to the nearest bench to do lots of drying out. I sat there for quite a while, just taking it all in.
TFTC and the opportunity to visit today. Really enjoyed it.

Found Nice and Quick this morning,
I usually read the logs/ activity before chasing the smileys, but this time we just went out, only now I'm logging it do I see a few DNF's and maintenance. Thanks MalDawg for the updated Co-Ord's they are Spotty Dog.
The log was Damp after a few days of rain so we aired it out as long as we could.

Out caching with the Tough Mothers (Bennyboppers and Lisylou). Searched everywhere but no luck for us
Nice view sadly couldn't spot this one after 3 eyes sets of eyes searching for quite a while.
TFTC Have lived in Toowoomba most of my life and climbed Mt Peel for the first time today. Magnificent views! Fantastic spot!
Found the cache but couldn't sign it as it was wet. Probably needs some maintenance and a new logbook.
Tftc - the hill was a killer, but the view made up for it!

Today with low cloud cover and light rain meant now views here unfortunately - the only way I got tell I was up high (other than via the exertion) was hearing traffic far below.

Lake Somerset Trip - Day 7
Leaving the lake and starting our trip home via Toowoomba and Goondiwindi collecting LGA areas on the way. We spent some time in Toowoomba collecting a handful of challenge caches. Tardis0061 and I relocated to Mt Peel Bushland reserve where we were able to collect a variety of caches.
A bit of huffing and puffing getting to gz on this very warm day. Then it took quite a while to find the container. Should have paid more attention to the accurate coordinates as opposed to my interpretation of the hint. Log book is wet and could do with replacing. Enjoyed the views!

Grey nomads travelling around Australia in our caravan. Held up a bit due to Covid19, so currently in Queensland only, but there are plenty of caches in our home state that we have not yet found. Currently, doing a lap around South East Queensland, and we are house sitting nearby, so able to enjoy the festivities of the carnival of the flowers and other nearby features.
The tantalising Mt Peel greets us every time we step out of our caravan at the house sit, to today, with sandwiches made, we ventured into this park, after circumnavigating to get our bearings.
What an appealing view - you can see our caravan from here! Thanks for bringing us here.

Today was the second day of my little journey to outback Queensland. While I’m not in a hurry, I do have a list of caches that I do want to collect along the way and probably some extras as I see fit. It won’t be hard to continue my challenges of a trad a day and a cache a day challenges for the next few days, I am also hoping to pick up a few new challenges along the way and some target caches too.
My plans today were to walk the caches of Mt. Peel and then head west, plus grab a couple of extras as I passed by. A nice morning for a walk around Mt. Peel with a little water and a couple of snacks I was off to see Toowoomba from a different angle. An absolutely spectacular walk and the views from here, both hills were just awesome. In all it took just over 3 hours and I wasn’t racing to complete; I did all but two of the caches in this area. I do have some new lantana scratches from where I cleaned up some paths / trails as a memento.
All good with this cache and with it found and log signed I returned it as found, thanks for placing it here, now it’s time for a couple others in Toowoomba before heading west.

Back again! This time it was to clean out the outlier caches. Although this cache was on my todo list - I mustn’t have ever looked at the terrain or satellite image as I had no idea about the up! Nice quick scramble and the views were spectacular!
Early start and after climbing table top AGAIN... this was a mere teeny rock scramble and again worth it for the views! TFTC
After re-conquering Tabletop it was back to Peel with the JAGET team to collect the ones overlooked on our last visit. The weather today is a lot NICER than the crisp winter's day encountered back in 2019 cept its a tad windy today on the top.
Found the top void of muggles and it was NICE sitting in relative comfort, having a snack and admiring the view. Shame we couldn't see Tabletop from here. Thanks MalDawg for another view of T'ba.

A weekend in Toowoomba to collect caches, and see the flowers has been planned for a while. Such beautiful views ️ TFTC
Having collected a select few caches here while in the area last time, we were back to get the rest. A great day for a walk. TFTC!
Had me jumping around the rocks lower down the hill. This one was nearly dead for me this trip as the wife is waiting back at the shopping center. Anyway got the smilie. Now off to get the one that I really wanted today. Tftc and the view.
Mrs Woodyrothwell is one of the kindest and most tolerant people I’ve ever met. The one exception that she makes is for a climb up a hill. She detests, less I say hates, any kind of incline.
At election time she isn’t looking for slogans like; stop the boats, she is looking for the candidate this is promising to “stop the hills”. I see her scanning through the metre length senate ballot looking for anyone from the “Blow up the Mountains Party”. I usually throw my senate vote on the “Sex Party” but if someone registers a “Sex at the Top of a Mountain Party” then I will have a real conundrum on my hands.
It was slow going but we made it. The downside of being at the top of a peak on a day like today is that there is no shelter from the wind in any direction. You just have to shiver and hope your penis hasn’t retreated into your chest.
It was great to be at the top and the view of the city is amazing. We could see the pub we were going to have dinner at and it seemed so far away. Awarding a favourite spot for the location and journey. tftc

Nice walk . Beautiful view . Kids loved the walk up the rocks and the kangaroos
Oh this one was a prickly affair without the need for it to be so! Seriously after trapping all over the place amongst the gumtrees oops I mean the prickle ya bum trees we finally decided to just have a seat up top and then looked and said “I wonder...” - yep there it was

Had to pull the pin on this one last weekend as the kids’ legs wouldn’t cooperate. Came up early by myself today to claim the prize!
After picking up the Silver Scavenger we went the hard way up the hill here, then went the easy way down.

dahumbug and I were walking around Mt Peel this morning collecting all the caches. It's a beautiful area here and we even came across a few kangaroos. We took the hard way up here and found the easy way on the way back. Thanks for the cache
During my stay in australia, i want to see as much as i can. This area with the bushes, so dry its strange for me. Today it was more then 35 degree and windy. I have seen some kangurus and birds.
On my round thru this bushland i have vistited all caches here. Greetings from germany. TfTC

After spending several hours cruising around the SSE series of caches, I headed back towards Toowoomba. I still had time and some energy to find a few more caches before I headed back to my motel. I drove to the Mt Peel bushland reserve and had a nice walk around the area finding most of the caches that are placed there. Another awesome spot. After visiting the letterbox on the other summit I trekked across to this cache. Found safe and sound in the first place I checked. TFTC, Biggles.
We are on our war to Blackall, our 3rd stop on our trip is Toowoomba.
This morning Bill went with Roostaman to Mt. Peel to do some caches on their bikes. Roostaman also had a cache to revisit that he had left his stamp behind at a cache.
I did not go so I can only comment on what they told me. They were immpressed by the many large cache containers found here.
This was our second trip here the 1st time the cache had gone missing.

Hardly any muggles around and mostly good safe hides.

A trip to Toowoomba for the GIFF event was extended into an overnight stay with 2 days of caching shoehorned in. Day 1- an early start, before heading to Toowoomba via Kilcoy, Esk and Crows Nest.
Twas a steep and slippery hill in a couple of spots, but we'll worth the effort for the view and the breeze! Took in the sights and took some pics before wandering down to the cache. Carefully grabbed the container so as not to get spiked. Lovely spot!
