My first letter box cache.Found while caching with a friend on a rather warm day.TNLN. TFTC
#236 06/10/2024 @4:01pmReally enjoyed this one! Thank you for the creative energy put into the hide! And loved the extra step to get the key
Found 18 Aug 2024 at 4:24:58PMOut for the weekend with sedgwickDave, aim was to attend many of the Cache Crawl 24 events and find some select caches along the way.Been wanting to do this one for a while and today had some time on the way home, so made the diversion. Very nice work here. Gotta love a good letterbox. I resisted the urge to press. Thanks KMany thanks to carkisser for placing Litreach Margaret ar for us all to find. What a great cache. i even pressed the button. The two Rottweiler dogs at a nearby fence scared the poop out of me as I walked past but otherwise it was a fun cache. TFTC
Always pays to read the cache description properly before attempting to find said cache.Use this cache as an excuse to have a short stop on the way back to Melbourne. Easily found the key at WP1, then had to reread the cache description after looking around and seeing nowhere to use it. Off to GZ where no huntsmans, dead or alive, were sighted. Was also totally unaware of the hounds until they loudly announced themselves on the way back past.Miraculously resisted the temptation, but now have regrets. May return one day just to see what happens.Collected TB to move onTFTC
Cute little hide! Took a dinosaur and left a bug. Also Im so glad that huntsman is dead Also be aware of the large dogs
What a thoughtful thing to do for your Mum. Don't know if she was home when I visited the cache but the "hounds" would surely have told her something was afoot. TFTC and I'll give it a favourite point like so many others have.
I really wanted to get at least one letterbox cache on our trip so I decided this one would be perfect! It was also the last of our trip. Found the key easily then set off on foot to get the cache unfortunately I completely forgot to bring my stamp and stamp book! So annoyed at myself for that! Oh well at least we got it, signed, returned then took the key back. TFTC!!
Said hello to the big doggos on the way past. RIP to the huntsman in the letterbox Thanks for the find
Our first letterbox cache!!And we enjoyed it !!Thank youThe key had us looking!Small is definitely the key word here and called on our experience from other well done hides. Great job on directions and hiding!!Ou with T.Tezzi
Lovely story behind this cache, the mysterious button is still a mystery to me TFTC from
With the key collected it was off to check the mail, on the way I thought I was in the movie cujo as the two dogs almost came over the gate to eat me, once I got to the cache I opened the door to find mother huntsman with her thousand babies. With the babies cleared I had a struggle to get the cache out, it was so full the lid would not close to allow it to come out, I finally got it out and signed the log, now two face the killer dogs on the way out. Thanks carkisser for the cache.
Found on a quiet run to fill another date on my caching calendar. I wasn't massively thrilled about the ginormous spider in the letterbox but she hid to one side allowing me to squiggle the box out and sign the log. She rushed to the fore again when I went to return it and I closed the door very carefully to allow her time to pull her legs in. TNLN, TFTC
We have never done a letterbox cache before, we went to gz and couldn't find the key at first. We walked to the letterbox and then we knew the key had to be at gz, we spotted the small reflective tape and got the key. We walked back to the letterbox, opened it and there was a big pregnant huntsman spider, we moved it aside and signed the log. We also couldn't help ourselves and had to press the button. Added a favorite as well TFTC
First one i have found with a stamp! Awesome little find thanks left some more swag
Love the story behind this cache love how we are such an inclusive community tftc
I have realised that caching is great physiotherapy and have decided to do plenty of it to help with my recovery from recent injury. Also its great fun isnt it. Anyway I have planned a good sized trip today with plenty of caches, we will just have to see how I hold up.
This lovely letterbox deserves more than one favorite point but thats all I can give it. It was a pleasure to find and fun to open and investigate. (I ignored the sign This is the last cache for me today and a great one to finish on. It looks like I held up pretty well, I think this is my twenty first or twenty second cache for the day so I am feeling pleased with myself for the trip home. Thanks carkisser & JSando.

Awesome letterbox cache! Found this one on our way home from our caching weekend in Wangaratta. Cache and key all good. This one deserved a favourite point from us. Thank you!
Day one of our Australian adventure. We checked out of our Auckland hotel before the sparrows had begun to stir, hopped onto a plane and ventured across the ditch. When we arrived in the Lucky Country, we picked up a rental car and headed for the cache-rich Victorian hinterland. This was our first cache, and a very appropriate way to begin our tour. Thanks for the time and thought you put into setting up this cache, and for ensuring a great start to our trip.
This is my first trip outside New Zealand caching and enjoyed getting this cool cache with Team SPINZ tftc
I've come over for the Mega with Sidewaze, Paddle Chick and Nanzie. This was our first target cache due to the high number of favourites it has. No issues finding the tool and off we went to sign the log. Cache nicely tucked away from the crowds. Funny to see the other two cachers over here from home had signed the log yesterday. Have another favourite. TFTC # 18,913
This is the first find of our Rutherglen Mega trip, very cool cache. All logs signed as SPINZ (Sidewaze, Paddle Chick, Isis58 and Nanzie from NZ) TFTC

this was one of our target caches to pick up today on our trip north for the Mega at Rutherglen. thanks for an interesting and well designed letterbox carkisser and jSando
We stopped to do this LB cache on our way to the Mega. It was lots of fun and we really liked the container. TFTC.
On our way to Rutherglen for a MEGA weekend. I suddenly realised on Saturday that I needed to spell April in April to meet a Challenge cache requirement.
This hide fired the bill perfectly.

Love these kinds, TFTC. Hope Margaret didn’t get too annoyed at my GeoKids racing to get to it before the other!
Sneaky sneaky - took a little while to get each WP properly, a little blindness for the key and then wrong way to the HZ. Happy though to grab the smiley!!

Having found this cache some years ago, we were able to make short work of it today. No cache guardian this time. I could say I was disappointed but I would be lying. Thanks for the cache .
After making a disappointing run at the first bit of the nearby powertrail and calling it early because of the weather. I declared to xrocketx that I needed to console myself with a letterbox! Happy to oblige we made our way over where he braved the elements and retrieved the key. Parked up at the beginning of the stroll section I doned my emergency plastic poncho (it’s getting a workout today) and we quickly strolled down to the final. Signed the logbook, admiring the lovely bold placement and the fact it’s an actually letterbox. With all the official duties done we made our way back to the car and drove down to return the key - my turn to make the made wet dash.
This letterbox cache was heaps of fun. It was raining when we pulled up to find the key, but it was soon in hand. First stop, we took the wrong street, but that was soon corrected. Just before we left the car for a wander down the lane, the heavens opened up, and it started giving a good dose of rain. With no sense of stopping, we decided to brave the weather and head down the freshly wet lane.
I loved how the letterbox cache was an actual letterbox, and despite the temptation, we didn't press the buzzer!
Thanks for the fun cache and the adventure we had on our travels.

On a 6 day road with The Rats to visit the mega in Whittlesea. Targeting LGA's, challenge caches, nice D/T rating and old caches, but certainly anything in between as well. Also enjoying meeting all the people at the various events. Thanks to all CO's for the caches and the fun we had.

Having a great time finding an array of different types and D/T rated caches.
Thanks to all the CO’s for hiding your particular cache. My apologies for the boiler style log.

Excellent have a fav point for the door bell notification. Signed darksidedan in front cover.
With the high favourite points we knew we had to stop at this one. We did not press the button!
OMG..what an interesting time I had with this one. LizzardBoy (Grandson) and I did a number of "U" turns to find the key.. when we found the right location I got out of the car, as you do, and next thing I know I have a police 4WD pulled up behind me. Very nice young officers.. had noticed my "U" turns and came to investigate.. were interested in what Geocaching was and waved farewell and wished us luck with our hunting as they left.
Found the key went for a walk found the letterbox.. my 1st letterbox

On my way to Melb for work training tomorrow. With plenty of time up my sleeve I decided to cherry pick some caches along the way being a beautiful Spring day.
A very nice 2 part letterbox cache. Spotted what I needed to fairly quickly at wp1 but had a bit of trouble working out how to get to the final, eventually worked it out. Unlocked the prize and was greeted by a huntsman (I'm getting used to this now)
Adding to the fav list. Tftc !

On our way up north for a little day trip and figured we we’d stop for a cache or two.
I am always on the search for more letterboxes, so definitely had to stop to try and find this one.
I was a nice little letterbox and were quick finds at both stages.
The letterbox was in great shape and the logbook was clean and dry. TFTC

Arrived at wp1 and found what we needed easily enough. Moved the geovehicle closer to gz and made our way down the easement to the cache.
A dog across the road was not happy and continuously barked until we were out of site.
Thanks for bringing us here today by placing this cache, carkisser

OzHockeyChick had to visit Wallan so she swung by my place on the way and we headed up. After stopping in at Wallan, I suggested we continue on to Kilmore to grab a few caches and then we headed home via Wondong.
I had heard of this cache before, so we stopped in to give it a run. A quick find at WP1 had us off to find the final.
The final was spotted on approach and the log book was soon revealed. I left a trackable that I recently rescued.
Thanks carkisser for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.

Actually found this one on the 14/3 with The4wdShed but clearly forgot to log. We had the pleasure of meeting carkisser & JSando whilst we were here and they told us how much Margaret enjoyed watching people find the cache here. What a great story, hopefully she is watching many more caches being found from her position in the heavens. Thanks so much for this cache.
Definitely one for a fav point! After a weekend of camping & caching we were on our way home when an accident on the Hume had us diverting for a quicker trip home.
However of course a new place means new caches & with smithiesoutbackgear so close to her 400th cache we decided to add the few extra needed.
We discovered the key easily enough when 2 strangers approached to see how we were.....it was the lovely COs & after just spending a weekend doing their run of Mt Dissa caches it was great to put faces to the name & have a chat about this cache in particular.
The letterbox was easily found & of course we pressed it "for Margret" thanks for the cache guys, can't wait to check out some more soon!

Day one of the Wangaratta oddessey with AlphaDeltaIndigo and Ying~Yang. Melbourne to Mt Buller, started in the heat, ended in the cold, but still somehow muggy all along the way. We mostly focussed on trands today, with a few multi's here and there.

On return from a holiday with mrx2 we decided to visit this letterbox cache on our way home. Instructions were very clear and we enjoyed the letterbox. TFTC!
Out with Bunadoorian this morning to get a cache to fill a calender hole and a 360degree empty site as well. I had read up on this letterbox. We found the key and then went on to find the cache. Logbook signed and replaced and we resisted the blue button! Key returned. TFTC and for bringing us here carkisser and JSando. It would have been wonderful to wave to Mum in the past.
Grub62 decided that an excursion to Wandong was in order today and this letterbox cache was 1st on our list. We did take a short while to locate the item at the 1st way point but we got there with the help of the hint. The rest was fairly easy but we enjoyed looking at the back alleys of Wandong. TFTC.
Tftc, #17 for the day with lilbassgirl (and first letterboxing one for both of us)
I really enjoyed this letterbox cache. Great spot for the key. I really wanted to push the button but was a good boy and didn't. A fun find for me. TFTC
The key was grabbed. The short journey was made. The cache was found. The log was signed. The button was not pushed. Hhhmmmm. Still wondering now what might have happened had I pushed it. TFTC
First visitor in half a year!
I need a non-traditional in the Shire of Mitchell for a challenge, and I do enjoy a good letterbox, so here I am. Beware of a very active beehive at waist height if you are approaching WP1 from the north. One of the neighbours saw me enter the easement but didn’t seem concerned. No sign of Margaret at GZ! I had trouble getting the little box out of the big box, and being in a bit of a hurry, just took the log out by itself. Key returned and on my way. Thanks for getting me to stop in Wandong-Heathcote Junction. FP worthy.

First one of this kind. We liked the idea of the key and letterbox. We also got to trade our first item. Thanks for the adventure.
The hardest thing about this one, was finding how to get to the neighborhood, from the main road.
I found a place to park the bike and soon found the first waypoint. It was a warm day and it looked like it might rain. I could see storm clouds gathering off in the distance, and I thought I should make this quick.
I walked along the front of the houses. No one was out, there was very little traffic coming down the road. It seemed like everyone was gone, but the houses were well maintained and looked nice.
I tried to find a way into the cache between the tight rows of houses. My maps were primitive at best and I had a hard time finding the names of the streets mentioned in the description. After pacing back and forth a couple of times, I figured out the only road the access could have been on and almost missed it still.
Great cache if it wasn't a bit of a challenge to find, then it wouldn't be worth the effort.
Thanks for the find.

Today we decided to stay local as one of our team was in the hospital so we stayed around and kept close to town not knowing what was going to happen so after deciding to get some close cache we made our way and grabbed only 5 cache today.
We arrived at WP1 and collected the required information well the (Key) and then proceeded to the final location having assessed the most logical way to the location we made our way to the service lane easement and soon had the location in sight. After making our mark and collecting the well made stamp impression in our book of letterbox marks we returned the key and called it a day.
Thanks carkisser & JSando for placing this letterbox for us to add to our collection today.

Found while on the Mt Dissa trail with Day1976, Yeah09, Ilukaperi and Nakarra. Signed as GINDY. Our last find for the day. Really loved finding this cache and listening to Day1976's memories of your mum
Found this one after completing sections of the Mt Dissa series. I had the absolute pleasure of knowing your mum. I also spent a few days cleaning up the yard here (which maybe wasn't so pleasurable). I tagged along here as we let the kids (and ilukaperi) do all the finding. Interesting letterbox, I will award this a FAV for some beautiful memories. TFTC!
I was really tired by this time, it had been a big day. But I enjoyed finding this cache. TFTC!
After a long day caching through Mt Disappointment, with day1976, Yeah09, Geolibrarian and my sister Nakarra, we grabbed this one on the way home.
This was our first letterbox cache. Was heaps of fun, interesting and well stocked with swag. The kids took a couple of things and I left some quality swaps in return after signing the log....curious about what the button does?! Of course I couldn't help my self and pressed it
Also the orange holographic is more of a white tape now lol but awesome hiding spot for the key! Thanx so much for the find, my kids loved this one!

Stopped by in town to do this letterbox, felt a bit dodgy walking down the grassy alley way. Cache is all good
Today was a big day out, well it felt like it anyway. With the rain coming out of the clouds early I was unsure if my plan would be put to action. After hosting an event in the morning the skies seemed to clear so off I went in search of some Mount Disappointment caches. After finding just over 100 of them I decided to pull the pin and head back to Melbourne to do some more interesting caches. Some multis were on the cards and some finals were located but due to the amount of high muggles frequency due to this so called thing of “school holidays”, I had to leave the caches. Finished off the day with an event near Marvel stadium and on the Spirit to Tasmania.
A great day out with 118 finds. A good few days in vic finished off.
Thanks for the cache

I must be tired. I walked straight past the key, even eyeing it with interest, before walking away. Lucky Steve was on the ball. Grabbed the key, turned left instead of right (it does pay to read the cache page) then backtracked to the letterbox. Signed the logbook, waved to your mum, and it was Steve who pressed the button.....twice.
Lovely town. Thanks carkisser and JSando.

The main goal for today was to get to Vic's 1st but we did a few stops here and there on the way, and even more so on the way back. This was the first one.
Nice wee town, tidy looking houses.
No problems retrieving the key but we did intrude into someone's letterbox before having properly read all the description
Once we were on the right path, around the houses, we went straingt to the cache. Looks like the cache site got tired and decided to lie down for a bit
Otherwise all good but I'm glad we were not doing this in the dark. Even in daylight sometimes feels weird to lurk around so close to houses while geocaching.

Chauffering ivss_xx in exchange for a Geocaching educational tour. An easy to find Cache once you read the instructions and follow the right directions and don't go poking your hands in places you shouldn't.

The inspectorrexteam found this one today after our day at the Tallarook market became a caching day. We took both trackables which will both now probably reappear in Tasmania somewhere.
To carkisser and JSando thankyou for this letterbox cache from the inspectorrexteam

That what awesome. So well done and worth pulling off the freeway for. Fav point from us for sure. Yes we did push the button
This was a great little side trip and a cool letterbox cache.
Picked up a TB and dropped one too.
Didn’t press the button (but really wanted to!) I wonder what it does???

Found @10:00am. What a great start to my 3 weeks off work. We stopped here yesterday when we saw the favourite points but by then my muggle partner had had enough caching for the day. It’s a shame, I think he would have really liked finding such a full, well maintained geocache.
We always make a detour for a letterbox and this one was very enjoyable. The reflective tape was helpful at WP1 and we soon were discovering the goodies in the cache. Took the caching shoes TB and swapped a bracelet for a toy car. The kids loved the swaps. Upon returning the key we noticed a car out the front of the house that we suspected belonged to the CO due to the numberplate! TFTC, a fav from us.
Out for the day with BettyBoo3747. She was going home, and back to work for me.
We visited Broadford for lunch and some cache.
Our first cache for the morning. Took a while to spot the key as we thought it might have a different hide - wrong.
Walked the doggies around to the final.
A great cache with heaps inside.
Thanks, Robmc.

15311 A day of travelling for me - from Melbourne back to Beechworth. That was the plan, just a straightforward drive but Robmc had other plans. With the Carnival Souvenirs Challenge he suggested we go out and visit some caches with "Big" Favourite points. I finally made it home after 5.00pm., but it was a good day. I added 6 smilies and we signed one without realising it has already been archived. Thems the breaks.
Our first stop of the morning in pretty Wandong. Took us a little while to track down the key but finally Rob saw what we needed to find, right next to something I had already looked at. Off for walkies with the geodogs to GZ. The easement was looking fairly tidy today and we were glad to see the letterbox at the end. A big cache with a load of goodies inside. Stamped the log with our letterbox stamp and I dropped in 2 TBs and picked up 3 TBs. A good start for the day and now off to do some Reverse Parking.
Thanks carkisser

It’s always nice to find a Letterbox Hybrid cache and so on our way up towards Melbourne’s Oldest we simply had to stop off and search for this one. We soon found the key and then followed the instructions to find the cache which was soon located once at Ground Zero. We signed the log book and then replaced as found but not before carrying out a Trackable Exchange, dropping off the Travel Bug KELLOGS (Charlotte), the A Very Red Head Travel Bug, the Dutch Rider Geocoin, the Baker Boy Travel Bug and the Community Volunteers Tag and picking up the EH! CANADA Travel Bug, the Izzie's worldwide adventure Travel Bug, the It's a girl Travel Bug, the Stumble On Travel Bug and the License Geocoin BI Trackable. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe
Quick find while out caching with Little Blue Wren,a great cache worth a favorite point from us.TFTC
Heading to Melbs to catch our flight and we needed to find a cache to drop a few TBs in. We have wanted to do this cache for a bit but the detour of the main road was just that little bit too much. Not today. Grabbed what we needed and headed to GZ. All good with this one and three tvs dropped. TFTC carkisser & JSando
This was our last cache before arriving in Melbourne. A very nice box with real Letterbox-stamp and a well done hidding place.

When the muggle family suggests a picnic, what else can we do but accept, after adding some smiles nearby we headed home our driver passed this area and we took the opportunity to do this fun letterbox, after finding the required key we headed off to find the log, log found, signed and replaced, the youngest team member loved this one, and raced on to open the box, key returned, thanks for the cache and the fun
Wandong....... ? Are we right in thinking this town name was used in the old series of the 1960's, Bellbird? Not that that was the reason we came in for the cache. It was all the favourite points and being a letterbox cache that did it. With the clear instructions we soon found what we needed from WP1 and walked to the letterbox. A well placed cache and a great reason for placing it. TFTC carkisser.
Reperio at 1415.
The family and I were headed down from Newcastle to Port Melbourne to catch the Spirit of Tasmania, and since there was a letterbox cache, I couldn’t resist, especiallly with the kids. We only read the instructions as we pulled up to the published coords, so we really didn’t have much background to go on with this particault cache (which is sometimes fantastic).
We grabbed what we needed at WP1, and drove around to the access point of GZ. I took the eldest with me as the other was still asleep, and as we approached the cache, she suddenly got a spring in her step when she saw it (and I must say I probably did too).
As we opened it up and saw what was inside, I was amazed at the effort gone into this one, which then prompted me to look at the cache page in more detail, and seeing all the comments and favorite points soon proved what a special cache this is. Well done!

I happened to be out this way this morning to attend the funeral service of Margaret. I only met her a couple of times via her caching daughter Karen but I was captivated by their road trip adventures that I followed earlier this year on Facebook. I had a little time to spare and having done a quick scan of the caching map the night before I considered this a very appropriate cache to tackle first up today. No problems at the first waypoint as I retrieved the key. I didn’t pay close attention to the next instructions and set off in the wrong direction but I was soon able to correct and see where I needed to go next. Only as I found the cache did I realise the significance of the property that I was close to. In any case it was very pleasing to find this one on such a day. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for an excellent letterbox cache carkisser & JSando. RIP Margaret and this one earns a favourite point from me.

What a fitting day to finally get this cache that has been on our radar for ages. After a loving send off to a funny old bird who we hadn't known long but had grown quickly fond of. RIP Margaret.
An early start with Ausfox; and Neville_devil with a few goals to hit for the day. Goal 1 grab 100 caches for the day. Goal 2 get all the Hidden Creature Virtual Souvenirs. Goal 3 pick up as many regular size caches as possible for a challenge cache we are working towards.
After following the directions we found ourselves feeling like we were walking up someones private driveway for a little bit. Then our prize was found and the temptation was there. Both Ausfox; and Neville_devil were itching to do it but as far as I am aware they kept their finger poking to themselves.
Thank you carkisser & JSando for a great letterbox. A favourite point from me

Headed up the Hume with Simsfamily and Neville Devil on a mission to complete Mt Disappointment, collect a 100 in a day and finish the Mystical Creatures souvenirs. It was a wet, cold day but it didn't dampen our enthusiasm.
A fun cache with way to much temptation, release the hounds.
Log signed and replaced as found
Thanks for the Cache CarKisser & JSando
