Finally found this one today after a DNF years ago! Watch out though got stung by a stinging nettle on the way down.
Didn't know this place was here. This is why I love caching. The log was wet and muddy, therefore I was unable to sign.

Thanks for sharing one of your caches and bring us to another fantastic location that we were not aware of kembla.
The cache was very wet inside but luckily the logbook is waterproof.

Day two on our caching weekend away and Tankengine and I were looking forward to the day.
We had all seasons and it was rather warm - I even got sunburnt. We made some great finds, saw some sweet views and then caught up with the rest of the team before dinner.
This cache: What an interesting historical site this was. Met some YouTubers making a video that looked very interesting too. Cache quick to find. The log was wet, but just able to sign. Tftc!!!

Took longer than it should have. Wasn’t in the hole but a bit away under overgrowth. Put back under metal on the right. TFTC
Found with Miss 4 who said her legs were tired about 5m down the track lots of bird life today. TFTC
During our forced Covid -19 lockdown "6" we were going through our note for our trip to QLD Mega and noticed we had missed logging a whole day of caches. Now catching up with those logs. We visited back on 22/4/21 and have no idea how we missed logging this day,
We enjoyed the walk in the sun that had not been shining for most of this trip. We followed the GPSr to GZ where we had to wait until a mother and daughter to pass by very slowly. We started the search but the undergrowth as taken over a bit so it took a lot longer than it should have but we got there and our name has been added to the log.
Many thanks kembla for showing us a sight we would never have found with out Geocaching.

Actually here on another mission and wander exploring parts of the "GONG" whilst on a visit from NE Vic. No shortage of interest here in this relatively isolated spot! Cache located quickly. TFTC and bringing me here.
Find 222 for the tribe and find 2/9 of 9 different cache types for us today
After being reassured by the CO's check on the cache I made another hunt for this one this morning without the geokids and made a swift find this time in under a minute. How could I have missed it last time, even with the geokids? Always easier in hindsight!
Another amazing historical spot on the escarpment.
Thanks Kembla for checking on this one for us. TFTC from the tribe.

Checked after DNF, located cache in good condition although the undergrowth had grown over cache.
No joy for the tribe today, was spending too much effort trying to keep the geokids away from bits of metal, glass amd stinging nettle to properly look. Will be back without the geokids to finish it off. Cool location and history lesson.
I'll have to write L & R on my shoes, but it depends which way you're facing. OCW Brewmaker. TFTC
Took some time. I tried a PAF, but soon spotted it as I pressed send. Interesting place. TFTC
Yarffa decided today would be a great day to explore the area of Mount Kembla. I must say I fell in love with this area and probably spent more time exploring before realising why we’d come here. After a quick search cache was found, probably sitting out in the open a little more then it should have been. Quick signing duties then back to exploring.
A quick find at one of the lesser known historical sites in the Illawarra. It’s cool to visit these places and learn about the history that goes along with them. Thank you for the cache!
Found this one this morning. This one was a good search for us on our first day ever geocaching.
What a great place. Found it after a few minutes of searching. Clue is spot on. Lots of stinging nettles so long pants are a must.
Walked down the path and kept going straight down to the mine entrance. We explored for about an hour, trying to imagine what things would have been like.
Looked for the cache on the way back out. Took us a bit of searching, the ground cover had it well hidden.
Left some treasures.
Thanks for the cache.
Watch out for the stinging nettle, it's everywhere!

Well didn’t I make a meal of this one! Do not go down the single track! Look for the old mine road access... easy find ONCE at GZ.
The GPS on my phone was all over the place (budget cachers here), but we searched thoroughly and couldn't find it. But it's only up the road; we'll have another go one day.
An interesting spot. Enjoyed reading about the history and there's also some interesting information nearby about the pit ponies & unions. TFTC

On my way south today with a diversion up the "mountain" and along a road least travelled by me. Parked in a safe place and followed the GPSr. Soon spotted and signed the log and rehid.
I have to say I found the location very interesting and would have loved to explore further today but work beckoned. I like the information posted around and about and felt rather sad to realise this was the site of a mining disaster . TFTC kembla and a FP.

TFTC! I managed the find and replaced the log, which was a little damp, with care.
The cicadas were going nuts - best to bring an earplug or stuff some tissue in there during the summer if you dislike the 'zizzing'.
The site was great and I would have made a closer look had I brought a torch or a friend - a little spooky at the time of my visit.

According to http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/heritageapp/ViewHeritageItemDetails.aspx?ID=2700819, the building where the cache is located by is a stable for pit ponies, which matches the pieces of historical information near the location.
The bathhouse itself was closer to the road but not anymore there except the concrete slab.

HanorahTLG is at the scoutscamp at Mt Keira and need to be picked up at 14:00. Let's spend the morning grabbing some caches!

Took me a little while to find this one, as I assumed incorrectly about the terrain level needing me to 'balance'
Anyway, I got there in the end...

Catching up on some cache logging for caches collected in January 2017. I’ve been so busy I haven’t had a chance to log them and then forgot – Sorry !! Had no problems finding, Thanks for the cache kembla.
I found this cache as a joint part of “Team” *Throsbyonchurch* and in which name the log book was signed. I now have my own account as I’m old enough to cache myself, so I am claiming a fair share of my earlier finds. As I had no caching name at the time there's no log in the book for me but I’m claiming the find under team ToC. Thank you for the hide.
Found it . -- 1:22 PM -- SL TNLN TFTH. Thanks for bringing us here. Cache in good condition.
I haven't been doing much caching lately, it's just been too hot. I had hoped to make 1000 by years end but it isn't to be.
Today I left home with no prep and no real idea where to go. I remembered there were two mystery puzzles I had solved and was waiting to find them. Hubz and bubz get car sick heading down the pass so we went via Wilton and turned at Mt Keira Road to find cache 1 of 12 plus 1 DNF and ended up headed for Mt Kembla. What a beautiful area, I have never been through here before and I love it up here. I had the best day today, especially with only I DNF, usually we have more but today we had CIH quickly without any problems.

Spent a very very long time looking. The stinging nettles were nothing compared to a bite on two separate fingers which turned purple from giant ants
Very nice historical place. Unfortunately the local flora and fauna are certainly not your friends and I have walked out quite battered and bruised from looking in slightly the wrong area. Found it after a long time searching and thanks to the cache owner for helping me get back on track. I must have walked past the spot at least a few times, the undergrowth can make it hard.
OCWST for a weekend of caching. Nice quick drive by collection. Had been up around this area earlier in the year collecting nearby caches and had visited this site then. Back today for the cache. Waaaaaaaay too much stinging nettle around so be extra careful! TNLFSL TFTC
Not only did we find the cache we also found some leeches and stinging nettle so keep an eye out.
An amazing site to explore filled with history.

Took a few minutes to find this, then realised the difference between steel and iron. TFTC
Growing up in the Illawarra region I was totally unaware of this existence. The place was quite eerie and well hidden off the road ways. It was a nice leisurely walk down the hill....totally in awe of what the miners have achieved for the Illawarra and the many families the work provided for. Thank you for bringing us here. TFTC
Historically interesting place, this. I always imagined it to be a woolshed of sorts so have been mistaken for quite a while. TFTC.
What a great place to explore... Lots of little gems of history in this area...TFTC Kembla...Left little Serenity.
This was an interesting spot following on from doing "whatever the cost" multi. I found the signs and information in the area very interesting. I wasn't so keen on the nettles though. TFTC and bringing me here.
Nice quick find on a hot day.
There's lots of history in them thar hills.

lFound on way home from a 3 day scout camp for scouts with special needs.
Great bit of local history thanks.
By the way beware the stinging nettles. Shorts and /or thongs NOT recommended.

Last cache stop of the afternoon. I hadn't been here in many years, maybe a decade. I always love exploring the Illawarra's history.
My Gizmo was playing silly buggars under the trees cover, but eventually it settled down and a find was made.
Thanks for bringing me back to this spot.
Cheers

Had been around Mt Kembla for quit a bit in the last few years, mostly csaching related, but never picked up on this. Great spot and even more history!

Only had a short time available to find a cache, and the closest was 30km away (this one).
A bit of reluctance hunting around stinging nettles made the search a bit longer than it should have been.
Oh and i found a pastor of reading flares near gz, bit they wouldn't fit into the cache.
Now it was time to go home and have a bath of my own.
Took the trackables.
Thanks for the cache.

Ticking another day off the calendar with a quick find, took the steeper entry in and more sensible but slightly longer route back to the car. Be careful of natural camo protecting the cache… there’s a lot of stinging nettle coming into season. Having seen and felt enough of it in the past, was lucky to recognise it in time today.
Its amazing the history the Illawarra has tucked away in the hills. I'd driven past this spot many many times but today I stopped for the first time and enjoyed this piece of history. It fits in well with my Illawarra Coal EC.
The cache part was easy, the history lesson took alot longer. Left a couple of trackables for the next finder.
Thanks

Spent the day doing a couple in the area.
Took me by surprise. It's been a while since I've seen a new cache that has value and a well sought out location.
Amazes me how people find these places, that seem to be ignored.
Took some great photos of the area.
Experience topped off when I was returning to the car. The seating closer up to the road is actually made out of NPWS signed all being chopped and arranged!
Got down on my back for some pics, and a bit of a giggle
Cheers

An interesting spot- after soccer we ventured up for a short walk around this historic area. A little wander with the iPhone before the cache was located. Retrieved the TB to move onwards. TFTC!
Quickly located at GZ, then had a look at the history gone by, how interesting. Dropped off TB. TFTC
Thanks for my FFTF!! I wasn't aware anything was left of the old mine. So a brief history lesson was also had by Geokids and I. found with Golden_Tree TFTC!
