A quick stop to use the facilities in this town on our way from Mt Gambier to Ballarat. And its always nice to find a cache in a different lga too. Signed as the SADDLE club for teams Shazzar66, AtTheLakeHouse, Duppers Delightful Leap Excursion - or something like that!

03-Mar-24
Shazzar66, AtTheLakeHouse and I flew from Brisbane to Adelaide to attend the Leap Day Mega. Our plan was to drive from Adelaide to Mt Gambier to find more of our targeted caches in the area, and then to drive to Melbourne Airport via Ballarat, as we had targets there too. Our caching list included Oldies, good or needed D/T caches, caches with high Favourite Point, geo-tour caches in Ballarat and any others that took our interest when we had extra time.On our way between Mt Gambier and Ballarat, we made several wee-stops. This was one. As there was a cache here, we had to make the find. Cache was signed SADDLE Club, our team name during our trip. Thanks, Marly8120 South-West, for the cache.

03-Mar-24
We were in Adelaide for The Great Leap Forward (Mega-Event). After the event we made our way through to Mt Gambier, and now heading to Melbourne for our flights home via Ballarat. We cached a few random caches in the surrounding areas along the way.We found your cache, There's Gold in Them Thar Hills today. This is my 2942 find.Having a girlie trip with Duppers and At The Lake House. Signed as Saddle club to save room in the logbook.South-West, TFTC, TFTH & TFTSF

Well, that was a trip! I've always had the opportunity to come through this way, but as it's an 1100km day anyway, I opted not to for a few reasons. Last night, I decided I will, it only added 30km and a bunch of virtuals so a 5am start it was. Solo driving it was a long way, but a much more scenic way it was a pleasure and great fun. All up 16hours on the road, a huge day, the last 2 hours in the dark with many roos, hard...but pleased to have experienced it and looking forward to the chance to pass through another time.Nice hint and hide! Was a cool drive with the grampians in the distance and everything looking so green, or yellow with the Canola. Very pretty country, I'm encouraged to return through this way again.

This cache was on our ‘to do’ list today as we headed to the Event across the road. We had previously DNF’d it as we just couldn’t find it after an extensive search but today in the company of 2 other teams and a recent garden manicure the sneaky hide was located. It was pretty much wedged in and had to be prised out with a tool. The logbook was full so we have replaced it with a fresh write in the rain rolled up paper. Very happy to turn this frown upside down.
Thanks South-West for the placement.

30-Jun-23
Nice day to head out west with Sol de lune. Off to Glenthompson for Breakfast Event and a CITO at Walkers Swamp, followed up with a Lunch Event at Dadswell Bridge and a CITO at Mt William Creek. Time for a few caches on the way up, some in between and a few more on the way home. Many thanks for the placement of the caches to all the CO’s. The caches were all found in great condition and were fun to find. Sol de lune and I thankyou for our days entertainment.
Thank you very much for this cache and your constant upkeep to keep it here for others to find Marly8120.

30-Jun-23
Out on run out to Glenthompson with JTreeTrack2 for a CITO and then onto Dadswell Bridge for another one. Weather was good for most of the day and all went well with the events.

Arrive at this one and started the search. We were soon joined by The_Tritonz, who looked in a different area to us and soon had the cache spotted. Took a few minutes to get it out, but all was good and in the cache was soon in hand. Log sheet was full, so we added a new and replaced the cache as found.

Thanks Marly8120...cache all good.

On a camping road trip to the Grampians, Mt Gambier and surrounding areas. We are now on our return journey and currently camped at the Willaura Recreation Reserve. Today we are out exploring the local area and picking up a few caches as well of which this was one. While Mrs. Pooky was distracted looking elsewhere, it was Mr. Pooky who made the find, partially helped by the hint . TFTC and showing us more of this area.

Found by Rebel Acts.

with it being School holidays in Victoria I had some time spare to head to Millicent where I teamed up with the Empire for a few days caching in the area, we had a fantastic time exploring the area.

This is one of the caches found on route to SA.

Thanks South-West for the cache.

I was on my way to Hamilton, en route to Millicent to meet up with friends. I chose a few random caches along the way to break my journey. Found after looking at it incorrectly at first.

Many thanks to Marly8120 for the cache.

Found with fitzy_1965 on an interstate weekend away collecting counties.

Today saw us travel from Oxley Reserve near Wangaratta to Hamilton in the States west. Our main target was a Community Celebration Event at lunch time in Bendigo and as many counties and virtuals as we could along the way. The day was a mix of sun and rain which kept us on our toes and then, the prospect of not finding a free camp area for the evening, saw us splurge on a motel room. We found a fantastic kebab shop for dinner…I think we will be back in Hamilton LOL.

Of the caches we tried, they were found quickly and easily. Thanks so much to each and every CO.

28,067. Found with minniek during a caching run down to Ballarat and southwest Victoria in general.

Day 2. After camping overnight at Oxley we continued heading south, grabbing a few Traditionals and Virtuals before attending the nearby Community Celebration Event. After that we visited the Ex-POW Wall for a few caches, then started our SouthWest Loop picking up some Local Government Areas/Counties as part of our quest to finish all the Victorian ones this year. This was the next cache on our list, and once at GZ we made a quick find in the neat hidey-hole. Stamped the log, replaced the cache as found, then continued on our way.

Thanks Marly8120 !!

I found this cache on a caching adventure out west by myself. Testing out the new van to see how it goes as a camper.

Today I would start at Langi Ghiran state park, where I camped last night and drive via Apsley to camp at Baileys Rocks campground tonight.

Nice “in plain sight” hide. Has me going for about 20 seconds. Thanks!

Finally I was able to get back on the road, after 2 years and 3 cancelled trips. 7 days on the road, into SA and back to VIC via Mildura. Portland was the first destination, the second time I have stayed here. Was good to be able to take a good look around this time.

This was number 7 for the day.

I looked for this one back in 2018 but had no luck. I was definitely looking in the wrong spot.
After waiting for the bloke mowing the lawn to move on I made a quick find.

Thanks for the cache.

A long awaited road trip, originally planned for the Millicent Mega weekend. However due to possible SA border issues, we’re only doing the Vic sections. Joined by Papi4506 & Geoturtle37, RoamingHowie and I are finally on the road to adventure!
Day 6: Hamilton to Home.
Having already found most of the caches in the area, Papi4506 & Geoturtle37 decided to head off in a different direction.
Search and search and search and nearly gave up and then RH read logs and one of them gave us a tiny indication as to where we should’ve been looking. Went back. There it was.
Thanks for bringing us here today by placing this cache, South-West

25-Nov-21
Day #6 and the final day of the adventure in Western Victoria. All packed up and set for a gradual return home caching along the way. From Hamilton to Melbourne via Dunkeld and some other locations yet to be determined.

Having completed a few of these already we went to where we expected to find the cache and didn’t. We searched nearby for a bit but certain the cache was missing (and noting recent mowing) we returned to the car about to DNF it. After reading a few logs we thought we might actually be on the wrong track. Returning to the area we saw the cache staring right back at us. In fact there are two caches there! Sometimes it’s dangerous to assume you know the hide… and by sometimes I mean always.

Thanks South-West for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.
