Out caching with echidna44. This area has been repurposed really nicely. It has such a nice feel and the views are stunning. Thanks for making us take in the surroundings and really observe the geology of the area Na'wal!
An amazing spot I'd been to previously while looking for a nearby cache, still can't believe this has been here for years, and I didn't know it existed.
I have been to this Quarry a few times for other caches a not worried about this one but I’m glad I did as it it very interesting to no what went on here many years ago.
Out on my own today enjoying seeing how you can change an eye saw into a pleasure to see. Answers sent to CO. Thanks for bringing back here Na'wal
The dogs and I couldn't resist a walk here in the gorgeous sunshine today. We wandered around and collected the answers for the cache and then found a patch of grass to sit and chill for a while. From our vantage point we could see all the local teenagers and their pets having a swim to cool down and their laughs, shrieks and music echoed across the lake.
I'm so impressed with the revegetation and care that has gone into this park, it really makes it such a wonderful spot to visit.
Thanks for the cache Na'wal!

Never knew that it was this big! Only ever drove past it and didn't even know it was open to the public, Verry intresting journey, really fun to lean about rocks!
A very enjoyable Earthcache in a lovely area we have visited a few times. The reserve was busy with families soaking up the sunshine, but as we had limited time today, we got down to the job at hand. Visited the 3 waypoints and gathered the information required, and our answers have been sent to the CO.
Thank you Na’wal for this Earthcache. Great location.

This is now a very popular spot and car parks fill up fast in the area, a lovely little spot for a wander around. Thanks for the the history and info about the quarry. Posted answers to CO a couple of weeks ago and then forgot to post, Thanks Na'wal for the cache.
Dropped our daughter off nearby, and took the opportunity to find some caches.
Enjoyed this previously unvisited scenic reserve.
Haven't done earth caches before as it feels too much like being back at school (shudder), but since this seemed fairly straightforward, I gave it a crack.

On a lovely baby walk with Kshaaa. Learnt a lot about the local quarry that I'd never given a second thought about. Thank you so much!
Nice stroll with dalrot, bebe and geopup. Probably would have been quicker without the pram.

Out with katdogg and geodog Harry. This was our first earth cache at somewhere we'd been past a lot but never stopped at. Cheers for the cache
This is a great reserve and a spot we have been to a few times. Answers sent to CO and logged as found. Thanks to Na'wal for this Earthcache
What a great spot for an Earth Cache.
The view is awesome and the questions not too hard. Ha.
We walked up and down this area twice today and once to the highest peak seen from Waypoint 1.
Thanks for the fun.

Today we decided to head out to the Dandenongs to an area as yet “uncached” by us. This is why we love geocaching; it brings us to places we would otherwise never know about! That and learning about the earth that surrounds us & everything on it. A few years ago we would have driven past this point and not known anything about it (or cared). Now each time we pass I hope to remember to say “Rhyodacite”. Oh, and “I’ve found a cache in there”
Answers sent to CO. Thanks **Na'wal** for another interesting location.

YAPIDKA! Late log true, but memorable as I was so amazed at the reveg and rehabilitation of the area. In Melbs regularly in a "carer's role" and this is within cooee of mum's and not far from where we lived as kids...just never had much reason to cross the line! TFTC and the info
I once worked here.
It looked a whole lot different in 1989.
I must admit, I was working night shift back then, hard facing (welding) rock crushing equipment.
Dropped by today with +Wife as part of our Leap Day 2020 Excursion.

Thank you Na'wal. It is nice to see what has become of my old work place.

Toured the reserve courtesy of the LOTR series final. Enjoyed the landscaped descent to the lake - a very pretty spot. Plenty of smoke
haze here as well .

Was in the area with Ilukaperi who had already found this one, and she helped me with the answers. Still is a pretty cool spot that I enjoyed experiencing. TFTC!
I had been planning to visit this area in the near future, and since it’s earth cache weekend, I popped in today. Thanks for the information about this lovely reserve!
Beautiful park! I’ve been wanting to visit here for years. Great opportunity to visit, given it’s Earth cache day. TFTC
Out for a drive, we stopped at this beautiful parkland. I had walked here long ago when it was a disused quarry and very ordinary looking. I enjoyed walking around answering the questions and watching people fishing. I have permission to log the cache. Thanks Nar’wal
This is a very pretty area now. Far different from what it used to be, and a lovely spot to walk the dog.
Thanks for teaching me a bit about my surroundings Na'wal. Message sent.

Suscoe was up in the area today enjoying a day out caching while the Grand Final was on.
Fairly quiet streets greeted us today which was appreciated.
A cloudy day out this way but there was no rain or drizzle at all.
We enjoyed wandering the streets of this part of Melbourne.
Thanks to Na'wal for this Earth Cache, over the years we have passed by on the highway but we were glad we took the detour and stopped here for a while.
We have messaged the CO with our answers.

Out today with Jackson from CammFamThree on a beautiful Saturday morning/afternoon. This was Jackson's first EarthCache so I had to guide him along at the start but once he got the hang of it it was nice to see some monuments we might have never known existed if it weren't for this EarthCache! Tftc Na'wal
Out with Cooper from Fisherfamfive and it was a very good day to go for a nice EarthCache! We went to all three waypoints and had fun discovering many places in the quarry that we didn’t previously know existed! TFTEC
Enjoyed having a walk around here with the geokids and learning a bit about the history. Tftc
Brrr ... a cold day to explore the quarry. Had the place to myself. Thanks Na'wal for the oportunity to look closely at what is around.
Quite busy here today even though it was windy and icy cold so I gathered up all of the information as quickly as I could and then retreated back to the geo-lopy to send the answers to the CO. TFTC Kkams

Out picking up a few caches in the area and decided to add this one to my list. An interesting area to visit very serene. Quite popular with the locals wanting to catch a few trout.
**Thanks to Na'wal for placing this cache.**

All clues gathered and observations made , thanks for the informative ec. Answers are on the way

Awww geez, it looks like i neglected some logs from when i went out and did the lyrebird track challenge........ that is very unlike me. Eitherway just trying to catch up on my end after completing my 3rd year exams and getting all the logs up to date for the mega event. Anyways thanks for the cache and the adventure.
We found this cache today at 12:15pm as number 4 of 5 on our Lord of the Rings Lunchtime Lark II. Email sent so hopefully all is good on that front. Our 36th Earthcache find (we have not been prolific finders of the old earthcache over the years) and our 7th cache find in this park in our 15 geocaching years. The park was really nice to revisit one again. We had originally come here when there was no park and just a quarry. On our last visit, the park was here but not yet open all the way to the lake and now it is much more developed. Thanks from D, HA, H & A B-A.
Great spot for an earthcache and a stroll before the afternoon storms hit. Thanks Na’Wal for this cache ! Answers sent
This is another very enjoyable Na'wal earth cache and in a very pleasant area as well. When we were teenagers we knew the Powder Monkey that used to set up and blast in this quarry, we did not see any of his of his work but sure can see where he had been. The shire has done a fantastic job of converting this quarry into a great place for families to come and visit but not many would look at the area as we were doing today.
We did enjoy reading the cache page and learning about Rhyodacite, we would have guessed Basalt.
We were also interested in the fossils but that area was fenced off so no Hornfels sighting for us.
Many thanks Na'wal for another interesting Earth Cache and prompt permission to log.

I had decided that I would take the day off work and relax by walking some of the trails in the Dandenongs however I pulled up a bit lame (old sports injury...or perhaps just a sprained ankle) so I took a slightly easier option in the vicinity.
I wandered around the park collecting the required information. A beautiful spot.

What an awesome spot. I wonder if the land up top is private property or not, as I’m sure the area is lacking an abseiling cache! It would be pretty cool abseiling down to the water. Now this earth cache was good, don’t take me wrong but I was imagining myself abseiling whilst compiling the answers! TFTC Na'wal
This area is so beautiful, thanks for the lesson in geology and giving me insight into the creation of the Dandenong ranges. My first Earthcache and a favourite from me
Spent a little while here discovering the quarry and learning some things. Great one. TFTC

What a great area! We've been around this part of Melbourne so many times and didn't even know this place existed. Nice and quiet little sanctuary, away from the rush of the everyday. Thanks for taking us to this place.

First earth cache. Geohusband used to drive his truck in here to collect rocks when he ran an asphalt team. TFTC
Awesome fun, geoson's first earthcache. At last, Melbourne figured out what the weather is meant to do in late spring!
I had a hole in my caching calendar and was looking at places to head to in order to address this. This Earthcache was en route home, though dodging witches, ghosts, vampires etc was something I don't usually have to do on my commute! It was nice to walk around the area and take in the views. Collected the info for this while picking up eightknox before heading to Whyt knights place to watch Bathurst. Although I have been here many times previously I admit I never really took notice of the feature this cache highlighted, Have submitted answers TFTC
The park looks great .. i never knew this lake was a swimming hole.. people swimming today .. the sun was out but the water myst have been freezing TFTC

It had been a long day and injuries were mounting.
But we had picked up our cache of the day just around the corner when I remembered it was an Earthcache weekend.
I pulled up with the Mini-Welders and piggybacked Emeylo down to WP2 and WP3 while the boys orbited us.
The feature at WP2 became a very popular piece of ad hoc playground equipment for the Minis.
It was great to see the features of this former quarry in daylight, and to see so many people out and about here today. My only other visit here had been in the wee hours of the night.
As we were leaving we heard the CFA station siren wail and a fire truck siren race away in the distance. I took Pikanite to the rail opposite the main carpark to look at the landmarks of FTG sprawled out below us. As I was pointing things out, 2 police cars swerved around us en route to the scene of the action!
It was all happening... somewhere!
Thanks so much, Na'wal. Your inbox must get flooded on Earthcache weekends such as this! Lol.

Enjoyed the stroll around the park. Amazing this is here tucked in behind all the houses. Tftc and all the information!
Foudn with Lochb and Quiet1_au. We were in the area again, having been here a few times before. This time we went to the three locations with some idea of what we would see. The answers seemed obvious as we walked around. Thanks Na'wal

Out with G of GJMMelb and quiet1_au. We have been to this park before! Thanks for leading us back here, Na'wal. TFTC
Light was starting to fall when we finally find the right route to the park, a place lochb, G' of GJMMelb and I had visited for caching before so we had a inkling what a couple of the answers ought to be. I don't remember the lake-side building last time we were here. The answers for the questions were gathered without any trouble - the last time I think we had trouble with the stones at WP3 being a bit overgrown. TFTEC
This place has been on my list of nearby places I should visit for far too long, finally got around to it today. Nice place, good views. Thanks for the cache.
Logging in anticipation of the ok from the CO.
I'd been to this park before searching for GCA caches and as usual, the need to see a nearby patient brought me back here again. With quite a bit of time to spare, I was able to explore the park and complete all three caches within. I used the known WPs to plan out my walking trail around the park after determining where the multi was going to lead me and I really enjoyed my walk around this lovely place. My favourite WP was actually WP3 and it's become difficult to see with the growing foliage, so I'm glad that this EC brought my attention to it. TFTC Na'wal!

Beautiful area now. I live nearby and had no idea there were walking tracks through there now!
Had great fun exploring this old quarry I'd passed regularly as a kid 50+ years ago. It's good to see it put to use for the public. Some interesting items were highlighted in this Earthcache. TFTC
We don't do enough Earth Caches, so I figure this one was close enough to the road to be considered a PnG we should take a moment to check it out. Thanks Na'wal for bringing us here and having something to say about the great big rock face here in outer suburbia. Looking forward to some of your other ECs you have placed around Melbourne.
Did this earthcache today and enjoyed the stroll around the gardens. The fence is still there but no problems accessing the areas needed.

Out with frmen1 for a stroll that became a stair climb challenge. We enjoy earthcaches as they take us to interesting places and we learn more about our wonderful planet. We have sent our answers to CO. It was fascinating to see the effort that has been put into reclaiming the land. Lots of ongoing works to keep up the improvements. Thanks Na'wal for all the work.
Wow...just wow! What a great space, we live in FTG and have never been here...this is one of the many reasons we love geocaching.
This is a really special place, I'd love to live in one of the houses opposite. This is my first EarthCache and I must admit I knew nothing about geology, so thanks Na'wal!
I dropped into this earthcache site some months ago but didn't submit any answers before a second, unplanned visit while nearby today. I was satisfied this time that I'd observed, or at least attempted to observe, all that needed to be observed. Not that I was particularly confident of my answers. The CO was apparently satisfied though so, by golly, I'm logging a find! It's an interesting site, and one I was quite oblivious to before this promise of a geological lesson. Thanks Na'wal!
Visited here today after the wind and before the rain. I knew there was a reason I was holding off finding this one. Happy International Earthcache Day! Email sent. Logging in anticipation! Cheers!
Such a nice place. Found a nearby cache after getting the answers for this cache. Thanks for bringing me here, Na'wal. Great cache for International EarthCache Day and the new souvenir. TFTC
This was a great little discovery right in the heart of suburbia. Waypoints are all accessible notwithstanding the excavations underway down by the lake
12yo in particular liked clambering on the big rock. Dad was less impressed to have to give him a boost-up. TFTC NaWal.

This cache can be done even with the works going on. The trick is to visit outside tradie hours and step around the sign. As of a few days ago the works blocked off the viewing platform but that was all and frankly you don't need to be at WP1 to describe the colours, it's a really, really big wall visible from hundreds of metres away.
Thanks for the geology lesson, Na'wal.

I was out and about in the area today running some errands with Edipie, I haven't been caching much lately but I can't drive past an Earth Cache, they are my favourite kind.
I was here finding a traditional about 12 months ago and didn't think much more than that's a nice bluestone quarry. This EC has taught me it's more than that!
Thank you!

Submitted answers and got the OK, my first time in the park and all in the name of geocaching.
The last time I came to this park I was on a mission to complete the"Nice Day" series so I didn't hang around for the other caches that are here. Attracted by this Earth Cache and with a bit of time to spare before signing on as Guard on Puffing Billy's Night Train, today it was time for a re-visit.
I enjoyed a pleasant late afternoon stroll wandering around collecting my answers...and another cache along the way.

I like quarries, I like the big machines that do all that hard work even though quarries look like a massive scar on the earth but when they're finished being quarries they can become nice locations. Thanks Na'wal for the geology lesson!
Logging this WITHOUT permission.....GASP, SHOCK HORROR!!! I had been keeping this one up my sleeve for the Leap Day souvenir since I was at work all day and didn't have time to find a physical cache. I meant to send off my answers over the weekend but forgot. So this morning on the train to the city I sent off my answers to the CO (sent via a message through GC.com). I had hoped to get the green light to log but it hasn't happened yet so I'm assuming that I will get an A+ for my research and logging in anticipation.
The FTG quarry has been transformed into a beautiful park. The remnants of the quarry add to the interest of the park. I really like it here. I recently found out that people have been using this as a swimming hole in summer for quite some time. Not sure I'd be keen. It's not THAT far to a beach with clear water.
Happy Leap Day and fingers crossed I didn't break too many rules by logging before the CO replies to my message.

Attending a wedding in Olinda and stopped on the way in to find a couple of caches. I had just found the nearby tradi and this earthcache was a great way to continue my short perambulation around this spectacular area. Responses to questions will be sent to CO. TFTC!
I can remember when this was bare hills and farm land. How things have changed. Shame about all the houses going into the area. Some of the trip was a little rusty in places. ha ha. TFTC Took a truck load of rock for my driveway.
Was in the area with my brother in law having a crack at some caches and this was one on my list. TFTC I love the area.
This was one of our closest caches but published when I wasn't well so just had to wait til I had more energy! I drive past this place a lot but wanted to actually walk around and do the cache properly. This afternoon I said to hubby I was going to walk down there but then I got side tracked doing other things. Just before 9pm he said to me "weren't you going to walk to the quarry today and get the answers for that cache?" The sky outside was a beautiful red from the sunset so I thought why not. Geoson aged 8 asked why I was putting my shoes on and holding the gps and he soon clicked what I was up to, so he wanted to join me. We actually drove there...as was still 800m away and getting dark and we would have to walk along Quarry Rd which has no footpaths. We pretty much knew the answers from being here several times before, but still raced to WP3 and then WP2 before it got too dark. Got the answers we needed and enjoyed the rest of the sunset. We then noticed houses in this estate still had their Christmas decoration lights on so then drove around looking at those.
