All the years we lived in Jimboomba (precaching) and now in Warwick, had wanted to visit the Governor's Chair Lookout. When Mr D suggested we go for a drive today, I said, "why not!" So morning tea and lunch packed in the car, we headed off over the big gap to find Spicers Gap. Gopvernors Chair Lookout and a cache or two. This was found good condition. Thanks rodneya63 for finally getting me here. For that, I give you one of my favourite points
We went for a drive to see the chair and grabbed this cache aswell. Such a beautiful place to see and want to come back and take some good photos. Cache found easily and in good condition. Tnln, tftc.
A rather easy cache to find, with plenty of parking close by. An old cattle grid stands here but the fence is well worn.
A cool graphic drawing still sits in the cache, for future finders.
Cache still in great condition.

After a big hike up Spicer’s peak and exploring the west peak, we stopped in here on our way out and made a quick find.

Long after the Spicy Peakers event and subsequent climb we all popped into this one on our way outbound. Cache found in good condition.
A quick find after a great day out with geo-friends exploring Spicers Peak. Thanks for the cache.

Found after 5 days hiking the spicers rim trail and coming down the back side of mount Mitchell. TFTC nice easy find
On arrival to the carpark ,we where a little surprised to find a few other vehicles and student muggles that where doing a photshot for the completion of a film. Anyway we got a quick at a great veiw from the chair. Back down to GZ . We located the cache ,signed the log and replaced.Headed for the National Parks picnic area for some morning tea. Thanks rodneya63 for bring us here . We may return for a longer look about when it not as cold and blowy ..
Grew up not far from here and never ventured to these spots, really enjoying the views and walks!!! Tftc!
Today, I took the opportunity to conduct a few hikes in Main Range National Park, in attempting a few Tuesday high elevation geocaches. My first hike was the ascent to Spicers Peak, which was a mix of a track, footpad, and informal trails. Following lunch, I then made the hike up to Mount Mitchell. Finally, I called past Kalbar and Boonah whilst conducting the *Churches of the Scenic Rim !* Adventure Lab, before then heading home for the day. The threat of rain appeared to have diminished from the previous day, and the day's weather made it rather suitable to the hiking activities.
It was a nice stop for a rest after making the 4WD drive up the track. This took a few minutes as I was searching a few incorrect logs initially. After taking a step back and searching nearby, I found the cache rather quickly, with a clearer hint could be "stump", not log. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks rodneya63 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Found.
Swapped a swappable with a geo drawing of mine. Come and find it if you want to see.

Spent the night in a tiny tent
In the morning off I went
Walked up to the Governor's Chair
Watched the sun come up from there
Then I took a lengthy walk
Me and God we had to talk
On my way back down the hill
Looked about the spot until
I found the spot where it was hid
And gently I removed the lid
Signed the log and put it back
Now I will be on my way
I'll come again another day.

Found with Pprime and others a while ago after climbing spicers peak. Always a magical place to sit here and have a chat. Lovely views.

After walking to the top of Spicers Peak / finding Something Spicy, this cache was a welcome respite. Beautiful views over the valley, stunning actually, and with no cliff climbing required!!!! Absolutely loved it. All is well with this little cache.
Quite a few times I've visited the Governors Chair area. Mount Matheson, Spicers Peak twice, and of course, the lookout a few times too. And there's probably been a few geocache smilies along that way too.
But it's been a while and today I'm back with oz_bean_counter, Pprime, stairman and ruzzelz to tackle Spicers Peak. Having done that and semi-exhausted, it's back down to civilisation for coffee.
Sitting at the Chair lookout, loving the view of the world, we discussed this geocache. Slightly soupy minds got a bit confused but we determined it was just a traditional down the road.
On the bumpy drive down in a Vitara (no issues here) we pulled up here and jumped out to look about. I dunno if I was the most energetic, or just the longest, but I made the find for the group and stood back for photos while the logbook was signed.
It's reminded me that this is a fantastic place to visit, and I should do it more. Very happy to have a bonus smiley for the day, so thank you for that, rodneya63

After bypassing Mt Greville (that’s another day) I thought I’d come have a look for this cache... once at GZ it was a nice quick find... collected the pathtag, score! And left some Filipino coin... tftc...
Renaldo is now filthy, so taking the COs advice I’ve proceeded to the lookout... it’s pretty spectacular... I’m not sure a low slung French hatchback was the ideal mode of transport... but we got here none the less...

Checked on the cache as we were passing by. All good.
As this was our first ever cache placed we decided it deserved our first ever path tag as well, so we dropped one off today.

Tftc. Found this one quickly, nonetheless very nice location and an enjoyable find. Thanks for placing this cache here!
Nice easy find. Thanks for the cache. We really enjoyed our visit to this area. Thanks
Loging this cache a little late. We found it just before we went on the Mt. Mathieson circuit. Beautiful quiet area at this time of day. TFTC
Heading up to camp for the night without the little Fergs. Easy find, beautiful spot. TFTC
Finally been able to get back to the cache after travel restrictions have been relaxed. Updated co-ordinates and hint.
With the parks open and a spicy something on the menu we thought we would make an attempt on this one as we passed by. Unfortunately all we found was a burnt GZ slowly recovering.
Current COVID 19 restrictions prevent me from getting to the cache still. When stage 2 restrictions come in force we are planning to head there for a picnic and will fix up the cache.
Current non-essential travel restrictions have prevented me from replacing this cache following the fires. I will review monthly and replace it as soon as government restrictions change.
I have been contacted by the reviewers about the time the cache has been archived for so an update.
The bushfires have made the region somewhat hazardous until fallen and burnt out trees can be cleared.
Also, recent heavy rains have made access questionable. there is a sign at the beginning say 4wd access only when wet. While you may be able to get through some parts are very steep and a little slippery when dry so if you decide to ignore the signs please be very careful. in addition, you just bugger up the dirt roads.
I will be away until the end of May. I will revisit the site then and if safe to access will replace the cache then and give an update to the park conditions and access.
This is still one of my favorite spots to visit and am keen to be able to share it with everyone again (it is also my first cache that I put out and with my kids when they were younger so holds an additional extra special place).

The recent bushfires have totally burnt out the area including the cache. I visited it today and the fire is still smouldering. I will return in a few months when the area has had a chance to recover and the National Park is opened again.
Great easy find for the youngest! Loved the clue! you can really see and smell the smoke from the fires today. Stay safe! ️

Thanks for your geocache. It is our first one looking on our own. Kids thought it was great fun.

Following Beardmans comments I rewote the brief introduction to make sure people are awar that the lookut is a few more km up the road as the cache is on the edge of the National Park. Hopefully people will now realise this and travel the extra distance.
After a hike up Mt Greville, I had a little bit of time to kill before heading to a mate's place in Ipswich. I decided to head out here and have a look at the lookout. Just before I got to the dirt road, I came across a large number of cows on the road. It was the calfs that didn't want to get out of my way and I had to proceed very slowly to get past them all. I finally arrived at GZ and was disappointed that there was no lookout anywhere to be seen. But I did find the cache quickly and then had to navigate the cows again on my way back out.
Thanks for the cache rodneya63.

TFTC! Easy find, with enough space to pull up and grab the cache. The view from the top is spectacular.
Fantastic view today from the 'chair'. Love this spot!
Thanks heaps for luring us up here with your cache rodneya63.
Took a TB (that isn't actually listed here in the inventory) to move along.

A great day for exploring. Glad we chose the 4wd -was a bumpy rd on way up. Found quickly -added a few kids swaps and dropped off travel bug. TFTC
A quick find after a night camping nearby. Picked up a TB that was listed in a different cache. TFTC

Sorry for the delayed logs (now late March) as I have been very slack lately. My home PC is up and running again and I have a day off due to the rain. So here we go....
After the walk we stopped here on the way out. One last chat and off we went in our different directions.
Thanks for the cache rodneya63. A great place to visit. Cheers!!

Heading up the hill for Something Spicey when we spotted a green dot on the map. Ooooh, a new cache! Well, it's been over a year since we were last out this way. As we were meeting up with some fellow cachers for Something Spicey we earmarked this for the way back down. Arriving at GZ we waited for the rest of the crew to join us. We made the find together before saying our farewells and wending our way home. TFTC
Found @6:42:00 AM.
Nice easy find in a great container. I was on my way up to Mount Spicer for a hike to the summit.
Thanks to rodneya63 for the cache

On the way back down the mountain, Dosshel, Gaz from Gaz'n'Kab, Pprime, Team Herbz, Griffo, and I all pulled up to grab this beastie.
We all deemed it to be too far from the cars - as we would have to step out of them We were a very sore bunch from doing the nearby Something Spicy cache. However, we summoned our strength and soon found the prize.
So it is the first time I have seen a cache like this in the flesh - I had read about them. We signed the log and re-hid the cache as found. A nice cache in a nice part of the world. TFTC rodneya63

After a great day's climb nearby, the intrepid hiking crew pulled up alongside here for a somewhat easier-to-get-to one. We visited the lookout (on the way up and also on the way back down actually) - it is a stunning view and well worth the extra couple kms driving and about a hundred meters (easy) hike to get to that spot.
Thanks for placing this cache, rodneya63. Found in good condition.

Saturday. Having done the nearby Something Spicy (and survived!) I was on the way home and dropped in for this one.
Nice sized container in this area and very dry and in good order.
This was the 2nd of 2 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***rodneya63***, for showing us this place.

Thanks rodneya63 for placing your cache here. We stayed a couple of nights in the campground and did the Mt Mathieson walk and were rewarded with some great views. We enjoyed sitting in the Governors Chair for a well earned rest break!
Spent a lovely Good Friday afternoon up at Spicer's Gap. Very much enjoyed the history and birds. The views from the "chair" were magnificent this afternoon. TFTC
We came up to walk the circuit - which is highly recommended for anybody making the trip. Stopped by and picked this cache up on the way out - thanks.
Tftc. Was stumped for a minute though, and cache-brain highly distracted with persistent horse-flies.
Second cache found on first day of being introduced to it by best mate live2trek. Beautiful drive & scenery! Worth the trip
I've been up here a few times, in fact right up to the top a few times if you care for something spicy. Today however I was here as part of the MTB /XC cycle ride. This was certainly a welcome spot to take a break on the way up. It was simply a blur on the way back down/

I was heading out to Moogerah for a few days camping and cycling. My plan for today was to visit the other nearby traditional cache and I spotted this one on the way there.
The brave little lancer fought its way to the parking area over the dry gravel and I was soon stopped near the cache. It was soon located and my name was added to the log.
The trip here the next day on the bike was a bit slower though, but the ride back down was more than worth the effort.

Out with Brother Colin for the day
We had taken the walk out to Bare Rock, and as we got into the car to drive home, BC discovered 2 new caches had just been published only a couple of kms away! Right-oh! Off we go then No-one was anywhere near GZ as we arrived and the *FTF* was ours at 3.00pm. Now to dash across to the other one as well. TFTC, rodneya63. I took the TB and will move it along soon.

Out and about with IolantheK today for a hike up the hill.
As I have found that cache, it was low cloud that day and I could not see more than 100m, so I wanted to do it again.
On return to the car we discovered a couple of newly published caches so off we headed.
A quick find.
Thanks for the cache.
