Enjoying the drive along the less traveled side of Lake Pukaki. A quick find for us here & then a little time spent enjoying the lake view. So many Canada geese here. TFTC
A dusty ride from Braemar Road to Twizel today. The rest of my group tolerated me stopping to look for caches. This one was easy peasy! Thanks for the hide, Tufty. #10144
2 for 2 today as I'm on my way to Christchurch and then Pennsylvania for my sister's wedding. I was picked up by a Slovakian guy who wanted to drive via this road to Tekapo.
Thanks for taking us on this beautiful walk to the glacier. Enjoyed finding this one with views of lake
Came across Braemar Road and then along here to Pukaki. Great to look over to Mt Cook Rd, we went there a couple of weeks later on our way home. Hope to do Alps to Ocean one day.
Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for the cache!
Never driven along this side of the lake before, so made a nice change. Found nice and quickly and rewarded with great views. Tftc
Loving exploring around here. The lakes are so beautiful. Cache found quickly. Tftc
Day 2 of cycling the Alps 2 Ocean cycle trail - cycling 42km from Braemar Station to Twizel. A quick stop here to collect the cache and we were back in our bikes before the group following us caught us up.
Thanks Tufty for the cache.
Thanks Tufty for the cache.
Only stopped for three caches on our ride from A to T (Alps to Twizel) today. This was the second, a bit of a transom stopping place. Beautiful views today, not a cloud in the sky, but the wind is very strong which means a lot less effort as we head south. TFTC.
Thanks tufty for placing a cache here. The road is long and even longer on a push bike so we were pleased to make a stop here as we headed south today. Beautiful weather for our first day on the A20 bike trail.
Another one along the trial
Ticking 1 from our dream list. A20 trail

We stayed for the last couple of nights at Braemar station. Small diversion on our way to Tekapo.
There were 5 caches on a planned circuit from Tekapo which were reduced to 4 before we left as we could see one was MIA. It still seemed a good way to spent part of the morning and so we did get to see Mt Cook and the Rd over there. One took photos while one found the cache. Now to head to Braemar Rd - we decided not to go further up the lakeside for the newest caches.
Thanks.
Thanks.
We finally managed to get away for a week’s holiday after months of lock downs and cancellations to various trips and flights. After landing in Christchurch we headed to Mount Cook to spend a few days exploring the area, doing a few walks and enjoying the dark sky star gazing, as well as exploring lakes and small towns of the Mackenzie country. We also found lots of geocaches which we enjoyed finding. Thank you to all the CO’s for taking the time to place and maintain these caches.
This seems to be the more picturesque side of the lake with lots of different trees along the banks. Wet and low cloud but enjoying getting off the beaten track. Tftc!

Today cycling the alps to ocean rail trail an awesome experience. With a few caches to provide the cherry on top. TFC
Having accidentally driven past the lower cache I was determined not to miss this 1...and thankfully I didn't Nice spot here and quiet on the road too. TFTC!

First find of the day after leaving Braemar Station. Fortunately no logging truck so far, so no dust on the gravel road. TFTC
As I was in the area I decided to check this one out and sure enough it has gone. So I dug into my replacement box and came up with a new one.
It is all set to go again.

After starting our honeymoon down in Queenstown a couple of days ago, we drove up to Tekapo yesterday to do some exploring up this way too. We had a good sleep in, found some breakfast at our hotel and it was then time to check out the area and grab the local caches.
We had plans to drive up to check out Mt John Observatory but noticed the road up was shut on Wednesdays (and it looked like a big walk!), but then spotted some other caches in the general vicinity so thought we'd go on a bit of an caching adventure instead.
As others had come before us with DNFs we didn't have high hopes, but thought we'd stop and have a bit of a quick look anyway. No luck unfortunately.

Good spot to stop - Great views- Thank you - Michael and Michelle (The Flying Brick)
Today is very windy, so we go for a geocaching day: From Twizel to Tekapo and back with Hayman road. No cyclists around today, the container and logbook were in good condition. Thanks for placing this here!
We looking forward to see all the beaufitul places of the country by geochaching in our 8 weeks holiday trip. That’s why we love this so much. Thanks for let us seeing this part. We love it!

A nice quick find today. Cheers.
Home from Oamaru, via the Waitaki and a few FTF up the A2O. Weather was great, though a little breezy up the head of Lake Pukaki.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

After a fun day caching and exploring in Mount Cook with BCD it was time to head back to Geraldine with a few stops along the way. A nice quick find here TFTC
Yes we did see the cars as beautiful clear day. Love how our new hobbie is taking us to new places never driven before. Thanks for this cacheTufty
I spent the night not too far (spot discovered thanks to geocaching ) I decided to take a leasurely drive to Alexandra. Very noice day for it, sunny and warm! TFTC!!
Out geocaching with Tufty (taking a break from watching the Otago Rowing Champs at Lake Ruataniwha). Tufty needed to do a maintenance check on this cache, but he made me find it first. The log was nearly full so we left a fresh log. All good. Cheers bro.
BaldEd and I had ventured up this road to sign off a couple of caches and then I thought that I would carry out some maintenance on this cache, also he hadn't found it.
At the GZ he found it but as the logsheet was nearly full I replaced it with a new one.

Our first time exploring the east side of Lake Pukaki, what a great road! Lovely views, TFTC.
The cattle over the fence all came trotting over to see what I was up too. They didn't say much though. TFTC # 12,566
Spent the night in Jollie Hut up the road. Found this on the way out. Heading up to Mueller Hut today
It's way too hot to be biking!! But what magnificent views. Love this area. And loved the cache face, looking up at me!! Tftc
Quick stop on our way to the campground located at Lake Pukaki. We took the gravel road from Lake Tekapo for a more scenic experience. TFTC Tufty!

The (major road trip was about to begin) that was for the Oamaru Geofest trip in the company of HKCB and iammrwalker for a bit of a road trip across to the west coast, through Haast and in a roundabout way to Oamaru.
My trip stats were as follows: 617 caches (214 Puzzles), 3300kms, 500 litres of Petrol, 21 hours sleep, 100+hours caching time. THe weather was wonderful and apart from about a 6hour period on the sunday we had fine weather all the way and feel that we made a bit of a hole in the region.
Firstly thanks to all the CO's that put in the effort to to set up these caches and to all the CO's whose caches we did not find this trip, well we are already planning our next trip.
We worked hard at getting specific caches (especially the Geo Art around christchurch and hence our concentration on this area for the preliminary 24 hours. So after a couple of running repairs to the rental vehicle (fuses not working) we were off knowing that all ports could be charged and that sleep was for the weak.
Sorry about the copy and paste logs but that is what tends to happen with a number run of this size.

Came down this way from the North for the Oamaru Geofest, and decided to add a few more days to the weekend trip and turn it into a bit of a Mega mission, starting 5pm on Wednesday 18th and finishing 3pm Monday 23rd! Teaming up with Cats&Dragons for the first 24 hours then with Iammrwalker joining the team for the remainder.
Just a few of the stats for the trip were:
- 700 caches found, including 270+ puzzles (thanks to the Christchurch Geoart)
- 3300 km's driven, using over 500L of fuel $$$
- Just over 20 hours of sleep (about 4 per day on average), and about 100 hours of caching time.
Certainly a Mega Trip!
Day 4: With the lack of sleep starting to take a toll we finished Day 3 off early and got a few hours sleep before getting back to finding about 2am this morning. Todays mission was to find caches around Tekapo before heading South through the Mackenzine Country via Hakataramea Pass, and onto Dansey's pass before coming out on the coast and heading to Oamaru for the Geofest and caching around the area.
Sorry about the cut and past logs, but that seems to happen with cache runs of this size!

Got to the cache before 11am to find that someone else had already signed the log today. Was driving the support vehicle for a group of cyclists down to the junction of the main road. Was disappointed not to have made it all the way up to the one at Tasman Point.
I found this Geocache on a Geocaching mega mission along with Cats&Dragons and HKCB. With only just over three and half thousand Geocache finds I was very much the over achiever in training. We were in the South Island to support the Oamaru Geofest event, hunt down some Jasmar and D/T harder to find Geocaches, lonely caches (those not found in more than 6 months), virtuals and try and meet some milestone numbers. We signed the logs HIC, an abbreviation of our respective Geocaching names, (H)KCB, (I)ammrwalker and (C)ats&dragons. A huge thanks to all the CO’s who placed and maintain the Geocaches we found.
I arrived in Christchurch late Thursday evening having left straight from work and was picked up by my intrepid companions in our four wheel drive rental to find they had already grabbed about 270 finds in the previous twenty four hours. I wonder if the rental company would have still let us have it had they known we would travel 3300km in it before returning it four days later? Our trip took us to Greymouth via Arthurs pass, Ngahere, down the west coast to Haast across to Hawea, Cromwell, Twizel, Aoraki Mt Cook, Tekapo, onto the east coast up to Oamaru and back up to Christchurch via Akaroa and countless diversions and small towns along the way. We slept in the car for the first two nights, grabbing some shut eye between cache finds, taking turns to drive. We rented a small place in Oamaru for the other two nights and appreciated a bed to sleep in and a hot shower. It was an amazing trip, in which I discovered the South Island has some of the most incredible scenery in the world.

Nice quick grab, then put the drone up for a quick flight to grab a photo. - Thanks Bitsprayer
Today was a day of touring around the area from Tekapo up to Mt Cook and back and it was a chance for us to grab a few caches. A quick find here, log signed and we were on to the next one. TFTC [^]
A day’s caching with Geowife & Doully.
Clever & picturesque spot. Noticed the vehicle track leading to the edge. Either there’s an underwater trail to Mt Cook Rd or Kiwi’s can drive on water. … **TFTC**

After a semester abroad in New Zealand, I travel around the country with MMXX now. There are plenty of amazing spots to discover.
Thanks for placing a geocache here and sorry that I keep my logs short.

TFTC. Easy find along the road. Also worth noting less than a kilometer north is the filing location to laketown from the hobbit.
TFTC had a great bike ride to the beginning of the A2O track & back just driving back to camper & thought we would collect a couple of caches
On Active New Zealand tour and staying at the lovely Braemar Station. Stopped for this on the way back from hiking near Mt Cook. TFTC and another NZ smiley!! Greetings from the USA!
