### **OWNER MAINTENANCE REQUIRED PLEASE** ###
----------
Hi there Rollmatrix,
It looks like this cache might need some attention, as one or more seekers have indicated there is an issue. The cache has been temporarily disabled, so as to remove it from search listings and discourage people from visiting this location until the issues/s with this cache can be addressed.
**You do need to respond in some way within 14 days, so others know you are on top of it, as well as indicating exactly what is happening with this placement - please don't let a lack of communication scuttle this listing.**
#What should you do now:-#
You have a number of choices so pick the one that applies from this handy list:-
- **Check On The Cache:-** Visit the cache and repair and/or replace or do whatever else is needed, post an [**Owner Maintenance log**](http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=404) indicating the cache has been checked and [**ENABLE your cache**](https://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235 ). Then sit back and wait for the logs of praise to roll in.
- **Place A Write Note Log::-** Reviewers don't have a crystal ball, so without your note on the cache page explaining that the site works are on-going, or you have been in hospital, or the area is in flood, they can't tell what is going on with the cache.
So please just post a note to the page (within 14 days) and when a Reviewer next looks at the listing, all will be fine for a little bit longer.
**Be sure to indicate the actual date that you expect to have it fixed so that everyone knows you are on top of it. If you have a long term unavailable cache (where you don't have an actual date) please ensure you visit the page and post a note every 4 to 6 weeks, so as to keep everyone up to speed.**
- **Adopt/Archive:-** If you don't plan on fixing it then you could consider passing it on to another geocacher by asking them to [**Adopt it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=54) or alternatively, you need to [**Archive it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=56), so it is removed from searches and someone else can have the spot. Don't forget to remove any remnants of your previously enjoyed cache too.
You might wonder what happens if you don't pick one of those. Well, if nothing happens, then a few weeks from today, when a Reviewer next looks at the cache page, it is likely that they will, unfortunately, have to de-list (Archive) on the basis that it has been abandoned.
Honestly, I'd rather you decide so please do something before then. Please don't send me an email but instead follow the information/advice posted above.
**JUST A TIP:-** Have you checked out the new Geocaching Dash Board designed to assist a Cache Owner in managing the caches they own? Have a read about it [**HERE.**](https://www.geocaching.com/blog/2020/07/welcome-to-the-cache-owner-dashboard/?newsletter=PM) You will find your very own dash board [**HERE**](https://www.geocaching.com/play/owner?utm_source=geocaching&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=COD).

Found cache but unable to sign the log as too wet and rusted out. Basically is roadside litter at this point.
Aquick stop with 4maal at 11:25am. Container is rusting away, has no lid, and log is very wet and barely useable. Needs a visit from the CO.
Thanks rollmatrix

**Enabling cache** - based on the recent log, it would seem that whilst there are issue with this cache, it can be logged - thanks to the Good Samaritan 'Brain'.
Please remember that cache maintenance arrangements need to be proactive, not reactive. This means **regular** visits (by the CO) to check on the cache and not relying on or expect passing seekers to fix issues or replace missing caches.
**Based the recent log, it would be worthwhile for the CO to visit the cache and confirm that all is as it should be, and then log an Owner Maintenance log confirming your visit.**

A conversation at a recent event reminded me of the Victoria Country Road Atlas Challenge, so I checked my progress and found that I was missing little Map 34 (which, coincidentally, had been the main topic of that earlier conversation).
That was only a week ago, which made me think "huh, I'm going past there in a week", so I made the necessary arrangements to ensure we'd stop by on the side of the highway to grab a cache within the map zone as to not have to schedule a detour to Mallacoota on our way back.
I did a bit of research and found that, due to the bushfires, there were only two possible options, of which one was actually still active.
I ended up opting for the active one and, as we were approaching it, the driver asked me how far away we were.
Uh, there's an issue with that.
There's no internet connection so the geocaching map isn't loading...
Whoops.
I'm not used to offline caching, okay!
And so, of course, we zoomed past it without even a chance to think about stopping there.
Plan B: vaguely remember where the disabled cache is.
The car's satnav map showed a road... wait no that's a river... oh but there's a road after it!
That'll do!
We pulled over and were graced by two bars of 3G which was just enough for my phone to load the cache (just as well as I'm the only one with Cachly and hence the only one who can quickly view disabled caches) which confirmed that we'd picked the right road!!!
Research pays off!
Now realising we were only 10m away, we walked behind the trees and found the cache in the first place we looked.
Map 34 conquered!
Unfortunately, this is obviously disabled for a reason - it's survived the fires but only in the sense that it hasn't melted, other than that it's not in great shape.
I added an extra logsheet in as the logbook didn't look like the sort of thing that's particularly pleasant to touch!
Hopefully this one can get a CO checkup soon, but it's still managed to provide an interesting adventure nonetheless!
Thanks to Rollmatrix for placing it here!

Yeah finally found a cache that was still intact, despite the fire obviously going through the site, it hasn't destroyed the cache!

We took the liberty of replacing this cache the tree is regenerating beautifully after the bush fires. Thanks
Fortunately the hail storm we just drove thru stopped so we could search this cache. What a welcome back to Victoria, lol

Thank you for your cache and adding to our road trip memories.
Our road trip continues and we are just picking up a few caches along the Princes Highway to break the journey, along with ilook4geo. This was an easy cache to find and the log was soon signed, with all being put back into place before we moved on. Thank you to Rollmatrix for placing and maintaining this cache.
Our day leads us further south along the highway with goingplaces2, while picking up the occasional cache here and there. This was one of the caches we found, the log was signed and our day went on. TFTC.
There must’ve a possum in the area as it was out in the open again outback behind the tree. Kutgw
Sad to say cache was out in the open, lid a metre away and cache full of water. Thank you to Fergzter for putting in a new log in Zippy bag. That Log is perfectly dry. We have put cache back in a hidden spot. TFTC
Found on day 8 of Fergzters family holiday that went from Ballarat to OzGeomuster at the Gong and homeward again via the coast route. Today we travelled between Eden and Lakes Entrance. We found the cache in quite a sorry state out in the open and exposed. I hope its OK, but we added in an replacement logbook and ziplock baggy as there was only a soggy single scrap of paper stuck to the lid inside. Hopefully that should keep things going for a while until the cache gets its regular maintenance. TFTC Rollmatrix
while still in the car, i could see something on the ground. turned out to be the cache container, with the lid a few inches next to it. the log sheets were scattered around, too. after logging, i put it back in a spot where i think it might have been hiden. TFTC!
Easy find as the brightly coloured cache container was out in the open. Signed log and returned ache to where it should be by the depression in the ground and camouflage material nearby TFTC
Found this cache whilst working nearby.

Found it with Crank1 on our way home from OZ Geo Muster Event after stayed at Bega and Canberra for a night each. Thanks for bringing us here and the cache.
Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.
Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.
Sorry for the late and generic log, something I am notorious for. Thank you Rollmatrixfor adding to the adventure that is geocaching.

14680. Found during a long weekend caching run down through the Bombala / Genoa / Mallacoota / Cann River / Orbost / Lakes Entrance / Bairnsdale regions with specimenX.
A long weekend caching plan was hatched with specimenX to head down to Victoria for 4 days of caching and camping. Had a fantastic time driving around enjoying the scenery, camping at various locations, plus the huge number of caches to be found. Day Two dawned and we had survived the rain. Packed up and hit the road. Next find of the day. Quick find at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache, and headed off to the next one.
Thanks to all the COs for placing their caches !!

Quick find today with the family as we slowly amble back towards Melbourne after a few days in Mallacoota. Many thanks for the cache.
Found as we wind our way from Melbourne to Canberra the long way around picking up some stray map zones for a challenge cache as we go. Being dedicated caches we never take the shortest direct route to anywhere, except the next cache of course. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
We were on a mission today, to actually get caches in all 4 pages of the UBD Road Atlas that covers the far eastern section of Victoria that we haven't found a cache in. We would be chasing caches along a predetermined route, not all caches though, just the easily accessible ones, as time would play a factor in what we could and couldn't do.
We set off from Orbost early and headed for the Border on the Princes Highway, before returning to Cann River with a detour to Mallacoota. Then up the Monaro Highway to the Border to get caches in the map that covered this area. In what was a big day of driving, we managed to complete the task and arrived back in Orbost about 4.00 p.m., but that wasn't the end of our day.
We'd planned on grabbing the EGRT - Final at Orbost, but communication with the CO showed we had missed one cache and had to forget the final, so on to the missed cache 11 km away, then the drive to Bairnsdale where we'd made a late booking.
Thank you to all the CO's who placed caches along the route we ended up taking for our special day of caching, we loved the area in which we drove, even managed to cope with the icy mornings with frost on the ground until lunchtime.

Guess something or someone has had a go at this one since its last find about 6 weeks ago. As we pulled up we noticed the cache container laying out in the open with its lid off and the log book and zip lock bag a few metres away and also not together.
As the bag and log were quite wet we binned them in the van and replaced the zip lock bag and added a new sheet of paper to it.
Replaced in the logical place.
Thanks.

While staying in Bairnsdale for a few days visiting family, we took the opportunity to travel a little a further east to open some of those little green treasure chests peppering our geo-map. We enjoyed reading the comprehensive cache notes and making the link between the cache name and the hide.

Found by Mary & David at 1125. Took way longer than it should have, but the hint and our indicated GZ led us to search a few metres away for a much smaller container at first. The steady rain didn't help matters either. Finally spotted a glimpse of the (small) container. Our thanks to Rollmatrix.
A speedy driveby as the Chief had the cache in hand before I could scratch my head! TFTC
Our current visit to Australia had been in the planning for over a year with the very significant help and advice from friends who live in Melbourne. The original plan was for a 2 month visit, but as things progressed we just couldn't help extending our trip to the full 90 days allowed on our visas - after all it's a big country and so much to see and do, especially with our favourite pastimes being birding, hiking and of course geocaching! Our journey started with our arrival at Perth airport followed by a day cycling around Rottnest Island before travelling on to Adelaide where we met up with our friends. We then continued on to spend some time on Kangaroo Island, before heading to Melbourne via Goolwa, Strathalbyn, Coorong, Mount Gambier, Cape Bridgewater, the Grampians National Park, Port Campbell, Cape Otway and Lorne, cramming in as much as possible on route. The second leg of our journey was a fabulous 9 days in Tasmania. Having then returned to Melbourne we set off on the third leg of our journey, which is to Sydney via Wilson’s Promontory, Lakes Entrance, Mallacoota (where we are heading to at present), Pambula Beach, Thredbo, Canberra and Fitzroy Falls. After a visit to Sydney we will travel on to the Gold Coast, then after spending a few days in the nearby mountainous birding hotspots, followed by an overnight trip to Fraser Island, we will fly from Brisbane to Cairns, visiting yet more good birding sites. We will then drive up to Cape Tribulation before heading back south again to Port Douglas and a day out on the Great Barrier Reef. We then return to Cairns for the flight to Alice Springs, where we will hire a 4x4 camper and set off for a week on the circuit to and from Kings Canyon and Ayers Rock. We then fly to Darwin from where we will spend the last two weeks of our holiday making our way to Broome via Kakadu, Cooinda, Katherine Gorge, Kununarra, Lake Argyle, Emma Gorge, the Bungle Bungle’s and Fitzroy Crossing. Our last two nights in Australia will be spent in Broome before we fly back to Perth, from where we will connect with the flight all the way back home to Zimbabwe via South Africa. We already know we can't wait to return!
Another nice quick find by torchlight, this time to the sound of barking dogs - we preferred the sound of owls at the previous caches! Thanks so much for the cache.

Tavelling today from Tathra, I picked the BFH series at the beginning, then various caches along the way to break my journey. I saw my second snake for the day just near GZ. It was only a small one, probably only a foot long. The cache was quickly located. The lid was not on properly and the container was full of water. Some entered the zip lock bag, but the log itself was fine.

Travelled between Marlo and Eden, collected a few caches on the road.
Not wishing to go and play with the timber truck today, we just stopped at the start of the road for the cache.
Thanks for this little series of four new caches, they are very nicely spaced.

The police were cruising around here at 11.30am - must have been gearing up to catch home-going holiday makers. We pulled over and soon had the cache to hand. A quick find and sign and on we go.

[4902] On holiday in Australia, day 6: Today's route led us from Mallacoota to Lakes Entrance. Again, about every 30-40 kilometres we took a little break to find a cache. Due to my sprained ankle the criteria for the caches was simple: T max 1.5, drive in, park, walk 20 metres, bow down and grab the box, log and re-hide it. Continue driving.
