We are on our way to Maldon for a two nights to allow us to travel on the Victorian Goldfields Railway - and the steam train, J549, is back in operation. Apologies for some generic log as most of the finds for this series were straightforward. Thanks to Saint.Anthony for the cache.

24-Mar-24
Out with the two young Monsters today getting a few caches and redeeming a few DNFs. When I was here a fortnight ago it was 36c degrees, wind blowing strong and not a whole lot of fun at GZ even having just a little bit of a look around. Over the last fortnight Ive actually encountered some similar landscapes as this one with a lot of rocks and scrub. So upon walking into this area today I had a better idea what I was probably looking for. Almost immediately upon arrival I spotted something that didnt quite look right. I was right! We immediately had the cache!! Log signed and back to its hiding spot!! TFTC!!

Now in Ballarat and enjoying the new home, just not all the unpacking, so headed up this way to grab a few more caches in the area. Managed to grab another 10 before the need to head back and continue to free up a few more boxes. This one took a little bit of time but eventually all was good and the cache was in hand.

Thanks again for the historical series Saint.Anthony....Fav point for the neat hide.

09-Nov-22

January 31, 2021 2:44 PM #3321

Took a while to find this one as I was looking for something a bit bigger as per the description. In the end you probably don't want to know how I found this one, all good though and nothing was damaged, removed or thrown as far away as possible! Best hide (apart from anything bigger than a bloody micro) of the whole series. A FP for it!

23-Jun-20
A much faster find than the last one. I suspected what the likely hide would be so it was just a matter of being able to spot it. Log signed and on my way. Thanks for the hide.

Omegaman1971

It was great to be back in the area caching and catching up my buddy Rebel Acts.
So many new caches online around Ballarat and Creswick since the last time I was up this way, and awesome to see some lab caches here as well.

Cheers Saint Anthony for the caches and the fun weekend

21-Jun-20
I had a few days off so plans were made to catch up with omegaman1971 and do some caching around the Ballarat and Creswick areas, We had a great time finding caches in the area and learning about the history of the region. The weather was a little cold but bearable.

Thanks Saint.Anthony for the cache.

30-Dec-19
Tftc couldnt sign the log it's full.

16-Dec-19
Found this one by accident! There was a piece of a signed logbook (paper) just sitting on the ground and I fluked the cache find. I highly doubt I would have found it otherwise. A great hide, but needs a new log desperately (sorry I don't have the type needed to replace it). Thanks for the clever cache Saint.Anthony. I'll log a note too.

16-Dec-19
The log needs replacing in this one. Hope you can spot the camo to do the maintenance!

30-Nov-19
This afternoon I decided to head north of Ballarat and clean up a few more of the CDLGM series, I had found some of these previously in September but after a few DNFs I gave up, back today and managed to have the same experience, a few easy going then a string of DNFs then find a few again, I will one day finally finish it all but today wasn’t that day.

13-Nov-19
started my day off by attending the Ballarat Breakfast event and continued Northish to find some more. Spotted a bunch of caches to be found in this area so I went to work to find as many as I could. TFTC.

After missing out on this hide previously I checked the cache and found a spoiler photo (deliberate from the CO). Back there today I checked where the photo indicated only to find nothing! A wider seach then found the cache, which I put back where the photo indicated.

Out searching for clues today. Luckily I have heaps of mine caches out here still to find. Thanks Tony.

Newstead Day 3
Todays trip was around the mining area as far south as Creswick. We came accross some amazing caches & locations, a really enjoyable day.
The weather started quite bad, rain jackets & beanies to keep warm. The unsealed roads were good to drive on as we kriss cossed the country side. Learnin a little about the area as we went.
Thanks for placing this cache Saint.Anthony

Out for the day with the Meadows gang on our regular school holiday caching

Talk about getting muggled, The local farmer shows up and I’m thinking I might need to explain why 7 kids are examining every nook and cranny of a sign, he says are you looking for the Geognome thingy. Well yes we are I say. He reply’s they are way off and will never find it and he parks in the middle of the road jumps out of the ute and starts looking with us mumbling something about it keeps moving then yells yep there it is now see if you can find it.

Great hide

Thanks for the cache Saint Anthony

18-Apr-19
Picked up a few from this series on a day out caching with Dive Wombat and the 7 kids. A friendly farmer drove past and asked if we were looking for something. Turns out he knows the location of a few of the caches along this road and Dive Wombat had soon struck gold. Sneaky conceal this one. Thanks for the cache.

16-Mar-19
Up early this morning and out and about - Creswick was the target today.
No luck for us

Firstly, apologies for the lateness in logging.
Despite my tardiness, you can be assured I enjoyed each and every cache found and not found.
Apologies if this is a generic log, my memory is good, but not that good.

Thanks St.Anthony

I had DNF'd here once before looking alone in the rain. Today I wandered a bit before finally spotting what we were after. TFTC Saint.Anthony

Found by Team Ladava on a day out in the Creswick area.
Now that was evil. I thought I knew what is was looking for but it still took quite a few minutes to claim the prize.

Our thanks to Saint.Anthony for the cache and bringing us to this location.
Locations like this are 'the icing on the cake' of Geocaching with the locals hosting us anonymously to their favourite spots.
A lot of work has gone into laying out this informative and entertaining series.

Away for a long weekend of caching with Freddo and Four Fun.

Over 300 caches in 4 days means that the logs will be mainly generic.

The main target of our mission was to finish off the Mt Disappointment series. We achieved our target along with other caches as we headed east and then west.

My apologies for the generic logs.

TFTC

30-Sep-18
Away for an extended long weekend of caching with Freddo and Team Waldron.
The main target was the Dad's Driving Series, and it was definately a fun exercise collecting the series but with that completed we focused on some other caches and making our way back to SA, very slowly [^]
This was one of the fun stops along the way
Cheers & TFTH Saint.Anthony

Logging a find as part of the 4FW crew for this interesting series. A lot of work has gone into putting this series together. All caches were found and logged on a beautiful day.

Not lucky to find today

Another wonderful day spent in the company of Bushfire. Back again in this area but with much kinder weather than the other day when the temperature only struggled to 4 degrees. We came armed with a formidable list of caches and managed to find most of them with only 1 DNF finishing with a respectable tally. It’s difficult to imagine the activity that would have occurred along this road when all these mines were active. Thanks for the extensive notes which add so much to these caches Thanks Saint Anthony

14-Jul-18
Cache up here last Wednesday when the temperature was hovering around four degrees and this morning was not much warmer if you looked at the puddles that we drove through as they were covered in ice.
Again I am caching with au.fait and we had a wonderful day changing lots of caches into smiley faces.
We only stopped for a cuppa and some nibbles during the day and completed all the caches that were on our list in this area.
Dinner and a beer and wine was had at Buninyong on out way back to Geelong at the local on the corner. Great meal but pays to be early.
Creswick is looking a happier place now with all these new smiley faces looking at me.
All caches were signed with au.fait and BF.
It is difficult for us to come to terms of the hardships that these miners faced.
Thanks to Saint.Anthony for placing and maintaining this cache.

We have seen a few of this type of cache before but this was the best area we have found for placement so far. So is well camoed! Thank goodness Geohubby found it as this was our last cache for today and it was time to head home. Geowife too tired at this stage of the day!! Thanks again for all the varied and many interesting caches we have found today - it had been a good caching day and we have really enjoyed it.
We will return another day to continue our caching in this great place of Creswick.

The only reason we didn't find this was a whole flock of sheep thought we were there to feed them.........couldn't concentrate with their hungry bleating so we gave up, will look again

05-Mar-18
With no work on today, and a spectacular lack of inclination toward any of the number of chores I should be doing, I've snuck out instead to get the rest of the deep lead mine caches. I still find these traces of our history fascinating despite how many I visit. Thanks

#14118. Day 3 touring the area around Creswick with Robmc. Back through Miners Rest to Creswick and a visit to the CBRR series and the CDLGM series and then off to Mt Beckworth to finish the day. Ballarat weather was kind to us today, no gale force winds and plenty of sunshine - very nice.

Now getting into the series proper. So many mullock heaps and remnants. Even the signs look like they have seen better days. Since Rob looked at this series it seems to have grown very recently with the publication of new ones in January.

Thanks for the extensive cache page notes and photos.

Indeed, a nice bit of camo here so that all blended in well. No sign of lush green paddocks though, as in your photo.

Thanks Saint.Anthony

26-Feb-18
The third day in Ballarat and surrounds with BettyBoo3747.
Today we went to Creswick and tackled the CBRR and CDLGM series and any others we passed. We then travelled across to Mt Beckworth for a few challenges.
We had read about the mines north of Creswick, but until you travel around and look at all the locations I don't think we really grasped the size of the operations.
Interesting descriptions of the mines, thanks for than.
Most of the caches were in good condition (BB listed maintenance)
Thanks for an interesting afternoon, Robmc.

After enjoying our last visit to the area, we decide to head back again this morning. Last time we were here, it was hot and sticky. Today the sun was shining and a lovely cool breeze was blowing. Once again we had a ball, touring this beautiful town and surrounds. Thanks to all the hard work from the CO's. TFTC Saint.Anthony Big Grin

Visiting Creswick again for some Fishin and Caching. Our last time here was Nov 2016 and during that two weeks learned heaps and scored some 70+ caches to add to our tally. We thought we had cleaned out most of the Creswick caches. Not so. On returning home we became Premium Members and succeeded in exposing about another 80+ in this lovely area. Yehaaa.

Back to the hard rock Miners.

This visit to Creswick was for a relatively short period. (3 days) Lots more still to collect from this wonderfully historic town. Thanks Creswick, and thanks also to the CO's and their hard work.

Hoping you will forgive the generic logs.

Thanks for the cache Saint.Anthony and all your maintenance.

I had to make a trip to Maryborough to pick up my Daughter tonight around midnight, so I decided to make a day of it and cache my way there. A message to Ausfox; and Neville_devil and I soon had a couple of caching buddies as well.
With plenty of time up our sleeves we decided to make a big loop around all of these mine sites. Most were easy find with only 1 DNF.
Thank you Saint.Anthony for providing these mine site caches
