Found 8 Jun 2024 at 3:39:34PMOut and about with sedgwickDave, starting the southern loop this morning, to Little Waterloo. It was fabulous to see a new hide here since my last visit in 2014. Great location just out of view of the nearby campground. Many thanks to jithi5 for placing NEVER AGAIN!!! for us all to find. Found 3:38 pmUsing coordinates in earlier posts , I and ahomburg managed to zero in on GZ. It was by luck that the cache was uncovered by the large pile of leaf litter on it. It looks like the hint has rotted fully down to nothing. The cache was left next to the tree, which was 0.5m away from where the cache was found. It's an easier find now for the next person.Stay at Waterloo camp ground today on a 3 day hike around the Prom doing the southern circuit this long weekend. This was night #1TFTC jithi5

almost five years after my previous DNF
it was time for redemption

last time the search was a hasty bumbled effort
following around a heffalump in a dark and shady forest
no wonder we found nothing chasing our own footsteps

but this time was different
five years of plotting
five years of planning
five years of geocaching logs can be wrung out like a sponge
thwack them hard against some rock, let the water drip-dry away and the remaining nuggets are better than any coordinates or hint

sadly the logbook could not be wrung out
the nugget will prove our visitation

This was my only find during this hike and first one in months so it makes it more special. My partner and I were running behind schedule to get to Refuge Cove and this cache was taking way longer to find than expected. Just as I gave up and was heading back to the trail, I spotted what looked like a typical cache hide but without what was mentioned in the hint. Unfortunately as I was rushing I didn't have time to dry the cache contents or replace the log, sorry about that. I tried my best to sign the log but it didn't really work. Thank you for placing this cache jithi5 and I'm glad your were ok after going through something that scary.

After initially just following the GPS and getting caught in brambles I turned back to the camp sides and tried a different and better approach to the cache side. The cache was quickly found but was full of water. Thanks for sharing your story about the freak wave. It's a good reminder not to be foolish no matter how experienced you are.

Needs maintenance, logbook is wet.

Late log from a hike this weekend. Finding the right approach was the most challenging part here. I took the "go straight through the thicket" option -- perhaps not the best choice, but fun in its own masochistic way... Thanks for the cache, though log book is too wet to sign.

Found after about 5 minutes of searching. Had to widen the radius. God had me 12 metres SE of cache. Pretty wet. Couldn't sign. Damn March flies!

After stopping for lunch and refilling the water containers we made our way further along for a big day of hiking. This took some hunting and unfortunately the log is full of water but hopefully you can see where I made my mark. Tftc

With limited time I searched the area but had no luck so I resorted to the hint, but nothing stood out that matched the hint. Maybe another time when I have more time

Find # 661
After a DNF here just over 12 mths ago, I was determined not to leave here without a smile.
Probs spent 15-20mins here last year, but this year I found it straight away.
Couldn't sign log due to wet paper, but took a photo & now have your number
'Never Again' do I need to search for this cache...
Sorry, forgot to bring replacement log. To be honest, I reckon container seal must be stuffed as everything was drenched.
TFTC.

Unfortunately this cache has become waterlogged. Next visitor may want to clean out and provide a new logbook.

Incredible story and timely warning - we were here on during particularly wild weather. Cache found amid a muddy torrent - not in good condition unfortunately. Thanks for the cache and for sharing your story.

First off, wow, what a story, and we can imagine how easily someone could get hurt in this environment if you aren't careful. Given it was a very wet weekend, and most of the rocks were slippery, it wouldn't take much to end up injured also.

Second, the cache was a tough one to find. We to thought we would have the same result as the Wombles of Woodlands, but after reading Jacko post, it gave us clear directions to what was a relatively easy find. The only downside was the log was totally wet and damage and could do with a new one.

So - if anyone is heading out, please bring a replacement one!

The name sums this one up for me a bit. Glad you're ok after your terrible ordeal nearby.
With the dense foliage above, GPS reception was terrible and I came up with at least 10 pissible GZs in a 25m diameter zone.
Even after resetting the GPS in the nearby clearing GZ was never the same so after 15mins (and energy I could barely afford to waste with many km ahead), the call was made to DNF.
Perhaps a clue or harder difficulty rating is in order?
Lovely little creek however that I would otherwise have walked right on by.

I had walked past this location last weekend with Pacgirl but skipped this cache as we were "hiking, not caching". This time round, back at the Prom with Jacko and Timmo for a little 48km hike, no stone would be left unturned and no cache unfound Big Grin!
After camping overnight here at Little Waterloo it was an early start.
A tough find with GPSrs wandering all over near GZ. Used geosenses in the end...
Thanks, jithi5. That's an amazing story of survival you have to tell!

I had the blessing given for a long weekend away and chose from my 'need more than a daytrip' list. The Prom had long been on the cards so here it was. Forward to today, myself Timmo98 and Pacman trudging around on these amazing beaches.

This really was a remarkable, yet scary story. Really glad to hear you made it out safe. Made me certainly stay away from those rocks.

As for the cache, man, was it a struggle. Searching for a long time after we had packed up camp. So, future finders. With your back to the camp, you want to go up a small embankment, where you will see some of those small green bushes and a log with yellow funghi growing. It's in there. 17m off had our coords.

Cheers

Day 2 of the hike, and the last day too unfortunately.

Hiked here after staying at the Lighthouse. Left one of the party on the beach at Waterloo Bay, then took the guys to this spot. The more crazy one was not wearing shoes.

Read a few hints and checked co-ordinates without too much success, until we saw a possible location. Yes, that was it...

Not sure about the hint, but some of the previous logs were definitely accurate.

Quick sign and we were off to the next one.

Thanks for the cache!

**Find #816**

After reading previous logs and the hint I searched for about 10mins looking for a black stump. In the end I spotted a Stump that was hidden by some new growth so it wasn't easy to locate. The stump had some old fungi on it. The log was a little damp as was the rest of the contents. I'm glad you survived your NEVER AGAIN ordeal. A Big lesson for everyone.

Thanks **jithi5**. TFTC.

The GPS had me GZing in wrong spot after looking around for a bit, reading last few logs then having a little bit of a think. I found it.
There was a nice surprise here for me. I have paid it forward in another cache along the path, as I was not able to return to this cache as my backpack was to far away to return.

My deepest and sincerest apologies for the absolutely woeful logging time for this cache. I currently have a backlog of 460 found it logs from the last three years. Yikes! Obviously, many of these will be difficult to remember and with such a big backlog I simply have to do a default log (other than a few special favourites along the way). I am writing this on the 18th of May 2019, when this log is for 29/11/2016 Thanks to all of the owners and sorry for the pitiful log!

Took us a while as gps was a bit sketchy in the trees but found it with the clue eventually! Look for the yellow growths...

A stellar corner of the Prom
A hidden little treasure

Sadly we couldn't find the hidden little treasure
But we did find a nice spa

Found this morning after overnight camp at little Waterloo. As we got there in dusk with some showers so left it till the morning. TfTC and second to find.

27-Feb-16

Found on the 27th feb 2016 3pm.

After a 15km or so kike from Tidal River via Oberon bay i was very happy to arrive at little waterloo campsiye, but before i could rest i had to go get my first FTF (also located at my name sake). I was very happy with the location as i have been to this camp site around 10 times but have never walked up this way. So very very beautiful. So thankyou so mich for the hide. I may have just found my new favorite location at wilsons promontory. I left three of my personal pathtags for the second to find and have take a padlock for my self. The gps was off due to the tree cover but once you get the distance off under 10 you should be fine . Next im going to hike over to roaring meg and down to south poit.
