Catching up with some delayed logs
Having a great time catching up with old friends at this morning's event we joined forces with micaparamedic and decided to do some less urban caching whilst waiting for this afternoon's event.
We visited many interesting mine sights, we can't imagine what it must have been around here in it's heyday. We were also able to grab a few mysteries we had solved. (Covid lock downs in Melbourne had to be good for something and solving mysteries was one of them.)
All in all it was very enjoyable few hours caching.
Many thanks again Saint Anthony for the information and the hide.

New container and new hide spot to give some protection from the elements. Same coordinates. Cache definitely has a lid now and zip bag to protect replacement log. All good to go, StA.

Looks like this cache is still having problems. Logsheet kindly placed by last finder has gone missing and cache was full of water after last weeks rain. Maintenance needed.

First week out after lockdown number 2. Spending time in creswick gold detecting and caching. Beautiful area.
Slowly making my way home from a couple of days away helping out a friend and decided to complete some caches along the way. The good old geo trail led me directly to this one. Thanks for the hide
Omegaman1971
It was great to be back in the area caching and catching up my buddy Rebel Acts.
So many new caches online around Ballarat and Creswick since the last time I was up this way, and awesome to see some lab caches here as well.
Cheers Saint Anthony for the caches and the fun weekend

I had a few days off so plans were made to catch up with omegaman1971 and do some caching around the Ballarat and Creswick areas, We had a great time finding caches in the area and learning about the history of the region. The weather was a little cold but bearable.
Thanks Saint.Anthony for the cache.

This afternoon I decided to head north of Ballarat and clean up a few more of the CDLGM series, I had found some of these previously in September but after a few DNFs I gave up, back today and managed to have the same experience, a few easy going then a string of DNFs then find a few again, I will one day finally finish it all but today wasn’t that day.

started my day off by attending the Ballarat Breakfast event and continued Northish to find some more. Spotted a bunch of caches to be found in this area so I went to work to find as many as I could. TFTC.
No.9 so far today. A nice quick find. Signed and replaced where found.
Thanks for placing these caches for our enjoyment Saint Anthony. TFTC.

Maintenance check. Dried out log on top of running car engine. Replaced with another log in zip lock plastic bag. returned to hide at lower level with added protection from the elements. All good to go!
Checked cache today and replaced with temporary log until I have proper paper. All good for now!
Having found a few in the series earlier in the day, we couldn't leave well enough alone and attempted a few more on dusk. Found this one after a few minutes as our first attempt saw us on the other side of the road! Log was unable to be signed and have sent photos to CO and will venture out to sign once fixed as we have many more in the series to collect! Cache in otherwise good condition. TFTC
Newstead Day 3
Todays trip was around the mining area as far south as Creswick. We came accross some amazing caches & locations, a really enjoyable day.
The weather started quite bad, rain jackets & beanies to keep warm. The unsealed roads were good to drive on as we kriss cossed the country side. Learnin a little about the area as we went.

Firstly, apologies for the lateness in logging.
Despite my tardiness, you can be assured I enjoyed each and every cache found and not found.
Apologies if this is a generic log, my memory is good, but not that good.
Thanks St.Anthony

I was cruising around the minefield today,
trying not to step on any caches
By the fence line I soon tracked down this cheeky little cache hide
TFTC and more mining history !!

This one was almost waving to us. The log is very wet and probably needs to be replaced. TFTC.
Today we head to Melbourne. I was up early again before we left, and made one last foray out this way to see how many more caches I could find. I’m getting to know the road between Creswick and Daylesford pretty well by now. Thanks for the time spent setting up the CDLGM series, I enjoyed looking for them and finding them (most of them) and seeing the surrounding countryside as well. Cheers and TFTC
Away for a long weekend of caching with Freddo and Four Fun.
Over 300 caches in 4 days means that the logs will be mainly generic.
The main target of our mission was to finish off the Mt Disappointment series. We achieved our target along with other caches as we headed east and then west.
My apologies for the generic logs.

Away for an extended long weekend of caching with Freddo and Team Waldron.
The main target was the Dad's Driving Series, and it was definately a fun exercise collecting the series but with that completed we focused on some other caches and making our way back to SA, very slowly [^]
This was one of the fun stops along the way
Cheers & TFTH Saint.Anthony

Logging a find as part of the 4FW crew for this interesting series. A lot of work has gone into putting this series together. All caches were found and logged on a beautiful day.
Luckily I had my gumboots in the car but my feet were already so wet that I wouldn't have been able to get them on. OHC was able to wear them however, so looking glamorous, she waded over to the cache on behalf of all of us. Thanks OHC and thanks for the cache.
We now saw the pattern to these and stopped watching the compass needle and used our senses. When we approached, this jump …. was a little more than a puddle. This is when the 4WD comes into play …. the 4WD that is decked out with everything, including long gumboots. OHC, jumped at the chance and kept them on, just in case. Find #974 …. now this is looking so much closer to that "almost 1000" I required
#6373
Out today on a road trip with Mrs Papi4506 & 4B Ninjas.
Needed to don the gumboots to get to this one.
Cheers Saint.Anthony

Another wonderful day spent in the company of Bushfire. Back again in this area but with much kinder weather than the other day when the temperature only struggled to 4 degrees. We came armed with a formidable list of caches and managed to find most of them with only 1 DNF finishing with a respectable tally. It’s difficult to imagine the activity that would have occurred along this road when all these mines were active. Thanks for the extensive notes which add so much to these caches Thanks Saint Anthony
Cached up here last Wednesday when the temperature was hovering around four degrees and this morning was not much warmer if you looked at the puddles that we drove through as they were covered in ice.
Again I am caching with au.fait and we had a wonderful day changing lots of caches into smiley faces.
We only stopped for a cuppa and some nibbles during the day and completed all the caches that were on our list in this area.
Dinner and a beer and wine was had at Buninyong on out way back to Geelong at the local on the corner. Great meal but pays to be early.
Creswick is looking a happier place now with all these new smiley faces looking at me.
All caches were signed with au.fait and BF.
It is difficult for us to come to terms of the hardships that these miners faced.
As always very informative cache notes.
Thanks to Saint.Anthony for placing and maintaining this cache.

Off to Creswick and districts with 08151605 to get some smilies. 08151605 had another quick find. Thanks Saint.Anthony
With no work on today, and a spectacular lack of inclination toward any of the number of chores I should be doing, I've snuck out instead to get the rest of the deep lead mine caches. I still find these traces of our history fascinating despite how many I visit. Thanks
The third day in Ballarat and surrounds with BettyBoo3747.
Today we went to Creswick and tackled the CBRR and CDLGM series and any others we passed. We then travelled across to Mt Beckworth for a few challenges.
We had read about the mines north of Creswick, but until you travel around and look at all the locations I don't think we really grasped the size of the operations.
Interesting descriptions of the mines, thanks for than.
Most of the caches were in good condition (BB listed maintenance)
Thanks for an interesting afternoon, Robmc.
