Feeling revved up with a find at
#4 I moved on to #5. I could see the cache and where I had to get to, but knew my new favourite TOTT wasn’t going to cut it.
Looks like I need to get a bigger dog!

Definitely a fan of tree climbing caches but yeah could not sign log unfortunately
found it... climbed up... and it is water logged... will need some maintenance! great tree to end on! massive challenge!
waterlogged, was unable to write on the paper as it was wet! thank you for a great trail!
Found at 10:15 AM GAFF2 in the company of Rabbitto.
OK - take 2! I was here in Sept 2017 and tried to get up but after a few moments of trying decided that it was just a trial run and nit an attempt [:o)]
2 years later I enlisted the support of Rabbitto to help me with this tricky little climb, but I also had a bit of time to think on what I needed (which I already had during my first visit ) for this climb. Rolled out the equipment which was just a ladder and a ratchet strap and after a few grunts and pushes, I had the cache container in my hand and signed the log book. What a great relief - getting down was not too much of a drama and now there is just one D/T combo that we need to finish our next D/T loop
Thanks 88andy88

We found this cache today at 10:20am in company of Pprass. With this cache being the closest unfound cache to home since it was first placed back in early 2016, we had visited this cache on 3 other occasions, once when we completed #1 and #2, again when we completed #3 and one other time just to glare at it just for the heck of it. We had long given up on ever being able to collect this one along with #4. Yesterday though, out of the blue, we were contacted by Pprass who had the equipment to collect it and had asked me along. Well "yes please, Mr Prass, I would be delighted". The first section was a snap, but getting out to the second part involved some ingenuity and another piece of equipment that Pprass had brought along. The way back down was also tricky with a foot being wedged in the fork of a tree not once but twice but all were soon safely back on the ground with no ambulances needing to be called. Thanks from D B-A.
Day 6 of caching in Vic,
Came over from Geraldton for St Arnauds Mega event, out and about finding Caches with Becknmonts, having lots of fun, thank you to CO for letting me log after a series of unfortunate events

Another tricky find that pushed me big time! should I risk it and go for it or not? Well I’m here so of course I better! This one got the heart rate up a bit - was not expecting that today given how comfortable I normally am with climbing. TFTC. Onwards to Traralgon.
We are always on the look out for high T caches, and so having noticed this set of 5 tree climbs we came to search for them after having just spent a great morning geocaching in the Churchill National Park - we are so glad we did as we had a lot of fun and left with a full set of smilies. On approaching Ground Zero for this one we soon figured out which was the target tree. On arriving the cache was quickly spotted and then for the third time today the two pieces of wood we had found in the car park helped the initial step up for Mr Team GBS who then, in his usual monkey like fashion, was soon up at the cache and signing the log book. Thanks so much for the cache, where we also retrieved the Cache-Stachio Travel Bug. Another favourite point awarded for another great fun tree climb. Greetings from Zimbabwe
These five caches up trees seemed like a bit of fun, off I set around the park with the ladder over my shoulder, was able to find them all except for one, it was just out of reach and life is a bit more valuable then a cache.
I’ll be back one day with a bigger ladder.

What a climb, what a find! No ladder needed as ive been climbing trees since I was a wee lad. But I did need a boost from my mate pop. TFTC
WOW WOW what a night and experience. I have got a family member enthused in caching and he is 6ft 4in with long legs and arms, what a asset. We proudly attended the swearing in of number one daughter in the Knox Council as newly elected councilor. That was another challenging journey. Geoson has a ladder on board and those 5 challenges that been glaring at me for so long are under fire. Thought we would give number 5 a go first I got to hold the ladder while PMB did the climb. He had to fight of the local crawlies and not quite sure just how far to climb, while we search from below. Bingo, it meant going out on a limb though but that's the tester. Log book needs maintenance as it is quite wet. (Glad somewhere is getting the rain). Pimpmyballoons was glad to descend and give the locals the brushoff. Thanks for giving us a great family venture 88andy88. Love your work
Wow now that's a bit of a sketchy climb. Out night caching with Xambo4u.
Please be careful as at night there are lots of bull ants and spiders here. My hand hurts. Rain doesn't help either. Log is not looking good at all and there is water in the container. Still signable but only just. Great hide. TFTC

An afternoon of caching with non-caching geo-nephew. Oldest Geokid & nephew we’re searching in the wrong place when youngest Geokid said he’d found it.
Another one we couldn’t easily get to so might come back with a ladder.

Working my way gradually back to Canberra from Phillip Island collecting some nice caches along the way. This series looked like fun. Needed some extra equipment to get up the first bit, but soon signed the container. Wind was picking up so branch was swaying a bit! TFTC 88andy88
Spotted this one quite a while ago but we needed to come back with less muggles around and with a ladder. Thank goodness mrx2 was with us and enjoys a challenge! TFTC! Found with mrx2 and monica_is_evil. TFTC

This cache was just to high up and difficult to get to without a ladder or other equipment.
After loosing focus for geocaching and not finding a cache for 6 months, today i reignited my love for the game, I had 3 hour between jobs in Ferntree Gully and Andy’s 5 Fright climbs caches did the job and with the wind just made the adventure more fun. Sl thanks Andy for the cache giving a favorite point.
If only finding and putting your name in is the same thing. That is one flimsy looking branch. We did bring our big ladder. We will come back with our big big ladder. Hopefully it’s big enough
Thought I would gone and check it out and see if I could climb the tree......yeah NO! Not going to happen! Might try to come back with my son who is more of a climber than me!
Once spotted from the ground I thought better of doing this in work clothes. May return!
Our brave climber tried valiantly to reach this one, but got about 3/4 of the way and just couldn't get to the end of that spindly branch. Another day perhaps. Thanks 88andy88, a really fun afternoon.
After completing Fright climbs 1-4 some time ago, I had conceded defeat with no 5, in was just not within my climbing abilities (not much is really).
Well we happened to be going past on our way to return a lifter when I had a lightbulb moment. After a little maneuvering the trailer into the right spot I was up in the air but still couldn't quite reach. I had to give way to the other half of hergab69 who was much more willing to climb up on to the top rails of the basket, luckily there was not safety inspectors on this site. Well he finally got cache in hand but didn't have a pen (not being a planned stop and not in my always equipped with a pen geovehicle) he couldn't sign the log. I had taken some photos as proof we got there and also scanned the QR code on the cache, although it only took us to a go daddy website. Not sure if it was supposed to take us somewhere else or its just the avertising on the tube.
Anyway, feeling accomplished and happy to finally have completed the set.
Thanks for the cache Andy

Allright... I found this one second but am logging it last to bring up mini milestone #1900. This was my most favourite because it took strategy and positioning to execute a successful acquisition of the find. I could say a lot of how I got there but that would ruin all the fun for others. I did do all these on my own with no company and this one was good cos I could blare the music from my car as loud as I wanted.
Thank you very much 88andy88...a FP from me on this one because its lacking in them.

Last time we were here there had been some light rain so thought better to leave this one even though we could see it. BeckNmonts said they had a new bit of equipment and with MontsII having an idea on how to use it we agreed a time to meet and Liambaxter88 joined in. A more conventional approach was tried first before the setup was put into action after a few goes at getting the right location the access worked very well for us all to have a go. TFTC.
Very tough climb but with a fair bit of teamwork we did it! Thanks for this series, just one more to go for me which I will do another day. TFTC!
I spied this cache last time I came here and thought, “no way”. This time, with some planning done, we tried one plan b first, but soon realised we would have to resort to plan A. So we took it in turns to throw the string line over the branch. Liam was the winner! Next up, we tied some climbing rope to the string line and the caving ladder. Then, we tied that off using a soft sling attached to the recovery point on the back of the car. Next up, inch the car forward until everything was positioned perfectly. Yay! We got it! Up we all went one by one to sign, I’m sorry to report, a soaking log. There was another log in the bottom that was also soaking. But hey, we signed it! TFTC 88andy88
Had a go at this cache, but there was one spot that I just was not nimble enough to get my leg up, so I just had to slide down again. Afterwards I worked out what I needed to get up that section - and I had it in the car as well, but I was too tired, so we moved on.
We were pumped today, love this series. Anyway, wondered around looking up the tree from the bottom expecting it to be super high, surprised that it actually wasn't, however not a hope in high heavens for us attempting this one today as we lacked the ladder. Can't say in that daring to try it even with the ladder, unless there's a BIG mat underneath us! That gravel looks like it could hurt like buggery if you slipped. Nothing more frustrating than seeing it below... Taughnting you, laughing at you as it's just out of reach... We shall return! Excellent hide though, kudos!
We did find this cache, well we saw where it was! After looking for a while we decided to give it a go. The ladder was in place and I was soon up in the tree. That's as far as I got. I could see what I needed to do but the stoney ground looked a bit too hard. We will be back with some extra equipment and maybe a mattress or even a jumping castle! Anyway TFTC. The ball game players were too busy to take much interest in what we were doing and we set off to our last adventure!
So tonight I teamed up with herbab69 to collect some needed DTs for both of us and what better series to knock 5 off one row of the grid all at once. Great idea Andy and a really fun series of tree climbs. Luckily I personally didn't need this one as tonight was not the night. Muggles everywhere, pointing and laughing, mostly at my expense. A flimsy ladder got me as far as the first branch, a kind of harness made from a bit of second hand rope got me secured over the branch I needed to get to but the cracking sounds when I tried my weight gave me no confidence to take that swing. Looking for a different approach, deciding if the risk was worth the reward I eventually gave up on this one. Too many muggles gathered to fall on, sure they'd break my fall, but my fall may break them so back down to earth and off to the next. I will be back with hergab69 and more appropriate gear to do it for the experience and put both names on the log so she can get this DT as well. Thanks 88andy88 for a great series and a fun evening above the ground
While out and about with McLookers we stopped in to try our luck at this series, we can never pass up some good tree climbs, with all caches there and in good condition it made for an enjoyable adventure.
Thanks 88andy88 for the challenge.
Thanks 88andy88 for the challenge.
This one was a doozy. Once we spotted it and realised what was to be done, we got our TOTT for the first bit, next required a shimmy and then the log was in hand. Thanks 88andy88, found with The Tritonz.
I'm getting way too old to be doing this. Scoped these caches out a while ago but lacked the equipment. So this time I bought a ladder.
No chance our geomonkey would be able to climb up this one and he is too heavy to catch - we will be back with a ladder for this one!
Accompanied with Laker63.
Dont have confident for this but will come back with long ladder if we are luck.

Dad and 14 yo have looked longingly at this a few times. Had done the other 4 on recent visits so wanted this to close out the series
Dad dropped in this morning with other (muggle) son, skateboard in hand. Park was deserted and a plan was hatched ... place these beams here and here, climb through the trunk, streeeeeetch out and pull up and ... open the container!!!
Need to come back in coming days and give 14yo a crack at the tree climb. Thanks heaps for a cool series which has dragged us well outside our comfort zone.

Joined up with Simsfamily and Neviile Devil to make an early start before heading to a family event. Back to my old stomping ground, this place has so many memories. Spotted the cache but now to get it. Eventually wriggled up, Signed and replaced as found.
Thanks for the cache 88andy88

After meeting Ausfox; at #4 in this series Neville_devil, Ausfox; and myself moved around to make an assault on this one next. This is most definitely the hardest in the series but Ausfox; brought just the tool to make the first half of this much easier. The rest of the climb was a little more challenging but with a little effort the log was soon in hand.
Thank you 88andy88 for another challenge that was gratefully accepted

Can't Park Here! Yes we can!
It is understandable why this one can be hard to get to.
Also it throws up a dilemma that until now the bananas have never resolved.
Bad coordinates have indicated other treasures located in the middle of a road. Usually these numbers get corrected. Not today.
These coordinates are "Spot On". Or should we say "Spot Up".
So the challenge now only comes down to one thing.
A Great Car Parking Spot.

No good for us on this one either today, might be a job for Mr Sthil..wink wink!
Again...we found it but too high for us. Great way to spend our last hour. Thank you so much for this little series, we had a ball.
Went out with Ruschie and Quinnies to capture these caches today. The climbing was too difficult for us older guys, so my son, Josh, did the hard work. The log on this one was wet, so we left a new log in a plastic bag. The rubber seal ring on the container needs to be replaced to avoid more water entering. tftc.
Please accept my sincere apologies. It has been brought to my attention that due to medical issues, there are a lot of caches I haven't logged, this being one of them. I was the other half of "we" in the Papillon4506 when we spent a day in the area with McSee&Petal and Jascat as they all needed my TOTT. Again, please forgive my lateness, most embarrassing.
Dad aka Fleabag- Spiffy- and I were going out caching and driving past here we spotted people with a ladder at GZ so we pulled over and they were catchers and even lent us their ladder to return at an event later that day. The climb was tricky and shakes but we got them all. Thank you 88andy88. This was the scariest one.
Well getting these tree caches today was very unexpected. We had planned the afternoon to finish up in Emerald Lake park at the group assault event organised on Facebook.
However, as we were heading past here and saw a couple of cars with ladders they had to be cachers so we stopped and what do you know they were and were heading to the same event this afternoon. So a plan was hatched and we would borrow the ladder and return it at the event. We had already been here before and spotted most of these from the ground so it was just the scary climbs to claim the smileys.
This one was horrible, the ladder right on its ladder on no way game enough except for me to climb it. (Like all the other ones too actually) but a slow climb soon had the cache in hand after being able to just hug the tree balanced on top of the ladder.
What was really pleasing was one was a DT combo I needed for my 2nd loop.
Thanks Andy88 for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

We parked close to this tree, as it was shortlisted to be the first one of the five attempted here today, but no special reason as to why. A quick perusal of the tree soon located the cache sitting comfortably in position somewhere where we'd have expected to see it. Getting to this cache didn't pose a problem, as we'd bought a tool for the job, even though additional distance was to be covered to reach the container.
In attendance were Papillon4506, mcsee&petal and jascat, who in turn took to the ladder for their turn at signing the log. Once this one was logged, we moved on to Number One.
Thanks 88andy88 for the placement here.

After meeting up with Papillion4506 and mcsee&petal we chose to do this one first and of course it had to be the most difficult. Surveying the tree the cache was quickly located. Having the right tool with us today meant that retrieving the cache wasn't a problem well not for someone who likes heights and that is certainly not me. I was rather anxious about this climb and I wasn't sure that I was actually going to be able to go through with it. Papillion4506 went first followed by mcsee&see and petal who all made it seem so easy. Now it was my turn no turning back now so up I went with everyone cheering me on from below. At the top some swift manoeuvring was required to be able to retrieve the cache. Well what a climb that was it definitely took me out of my comfort zone. Thanks 88andy88 for the adventure.
Spiffy-, GT02 and I had planned an afternoon of caching, with the aim of making it to a flash mob at Emerald. Heading out we did the standard headcheck of these climb caches having only completed 1 to date (and none for GT02) and noticed 3 cars, one with a ladder! I quickly pulled over and sure enough it was other cahcers - mcsee&petal and jascat. A quick chat and yes they had just finished them all. Wow. They then offered to let us climb one using their ladder while they were there, but mentioned they had to attend Emerald at 3:30... just like us... so a plan was formed. we took their ladder (luckily my ford focus had roof racks too) and off we went. This one was very hard to get the ladder into position to make a non wobbly ascent, but after patience and practise Spiffy- the cache was in hand. What an adventure. We met back up at Emerald and shared our story and gave them some chocolates to thank them for use of their 6.6m ladder. A great example of what caching is all about and fantastic to meet other cachers. Thank you to 88andy88 for these caches and I can now finally get these close to home caches off my map... and focus on NHL ones. Favorite given,
I have been eyeing this series of tree climbs since they were first published, and today was the day to tackle them. We teamed up with are caching buddies mcsee&petal and jascat, and since we were parked here, we decided to start with this cache. We secured our TOTT and up we went. I went up first, eagerly followed by petal. jascat admitted a fear of heights, but with much encouragement she carefully made the climb and held the cache in her hand. Very well done jascat. We packed up our TOTT and moved on to the much easier task of climb #1. Thanks for bringing us here 88andy88 and thanks for the cache.
Oops, nearly forgot, we grab a couple of TBs to move them along.

Couldn't even spot it from below.
And even if I had, an ascent looked impossible.
Perhaps another day.

While travelling with Mutex I’ve found a lot of caches all over Australia. You know, I like the discovering, especially in nature, but am not that much into pcs and internet ..and logging. Hope you don't mind the standard text as lazy me will only log like this.
Thanks!

At the moment Pfote and me are on a work and travel backpacking trip through the world. After I've spent a full year in Australia Pfote joined me for my second year down here. We will definitely try to collect a lot of boxes and all the special things in every state all around and right through the middle.
After the Show & Shine 2016 event we went out caching with Team Smokey and BlazerTriaz.
They told us about a bunch of tree climbing caches in the area, so we went here for a little night crawling.
As I'm freaking scared of highs, but love climbing I started the hunt right away without looking down. Got up, found a soaking wet logbook and slid down again. *Koala back on the ground with shaking legs, but happy. Next one please!
TFTC and greetings from Germany.

Found it but couldn't reach it. Probably not the safest one I've tried to get to
Lol
Lol
Spent quite a while near GZ before I actually spotted it! Even with my ladder to get me started here I wasn't confident with my limited reach so I left this as the only one in the set I didn't find this morning.
On the way from the STIHL shop to picking up a gas-bottle, this one was on the way. Since I had all in gear in the car I went for the rope approach > it just would sound so dumb if you free climb a tree, fall out of it and have a complete arborist gear set in the car
Thanks and cheers

Andy andy andy...... what an earth are you doing to us? 5th tree, your a fully qualified muppet now, keep things on the ground in future!
These days gravity is not my best friend but I was happy to check out the SWL of all the trees tonight. Used my cat like climbing technique and night vision (head lamp) to scale these poor trees. I swear I could hear them groaning under the load.
Found tonight with Grumpy Gramps 1, it will probably be his last cache hunting outing in Australia for a few years after an extended holiday here this summer. Lots of fun had and great to put more another smiley face on the map. TFTC Buddy!

Second one of the set for me and I parked right next to the tree. Spotted the cache pretty easy and thought "hmm how the hell to free climb that. I manoeuvred the car closer but still figured it was beyond my physical abilities to free climb it. What the heck I have a car full of TTC gear so out if came and a quick free from of the bag and line and a rope up. As I wanted to be quick up and down and the hight was really that high I opted to RAD. Bonus for me I didn't drop anything. I was down as easy as I was up and packed everything up and headed on foot for the rest. I did manage to leave the phone in the car for this one so no selfies.
Way up there! The ladder wasn't even long enough. So had to bring in the trusty ute and conbine efforts. Even then it was a long stretch and manoeuvre to reach this fella. After signing log, it was even more tricky, replacing log book. I think we picked the hardest one, first but wondered what would you have to do for a terrain 5???
Thanks 88andy88 for placing & maintaining the cache for us to find.

Getting this one reminded me of one of those dodgy worksafe ads. What do you do when your equipment isn't long enough. Put it in the back of the ute.
Things you do for a cache!!!!!
Cheers for the cache

We met up with Omegaman today to tackle this little series this afternoon after we sussed it out a few ago and we decided the short ladder recommendation left us a little short. So back today armed with the right tool for the job and a little improvising we needed a team effort to tackle this one. The cache seemed a little higher than the first time we sighted it, maybe it was moved a more adventurous cacher or it just seemed that way when I was making my way tentatively up to the cache. Inched my way there and got it in the end, thanks 88andy88 for the hide.
# Nighttime (not) Climbing #
As the previous cache, doing this one without gear is a bit of a challenge. I was just about to suss out my approach: Run from there, jump, up the trunk, fork lift, push, skip, spider ... wait a minute!
> A lot of spiders are nocturnal
**Damn Daniel!** I forgot about that part. I'm not good with spiders and on my designated route - the only way to the cache - were 5 palm-sized huntsman. Yeah I know they are harmless but did I mention that I'm not good with spiders? Obviously I decided to leave this for another day ... or night.
***Thanks and cheers Andy! A well done entertainment!***

I made my way down to Melbourne last night to meet my new nephew today. After a couple of hours at the hospital with him it was time to head back home to Wangaratta. But first it was bbq at bunnings then a few tree climbs to wake me up before the drive!
I walked around the fields while the games were being played, and the rain held off during the adventures. Good fun, thanks Andy!
Fifth tree. Somehow I saved the hardest til last. On arrival I spotted the cache instantly but this tree was a challenge to get into without assistance as there were no great hand holds and the bark was flakey. On the third go I made it into the first fork and the rest was a breeze. Well.. Getting back down was a bit awkward as well. No blood. No ripped clothes. That's a win if you ask me!

We write a note here once again as we have found where the cache is but we were unable to get to it. The wrap - this cache is way out of our league. Even with a ladder to the first section, there seems to be a similar gap to the second section and that is not something I would ever risk. 2 out of 5 for the day.

**Frigging muggle! Can't you see I'm doing somthing**
*Moving on to this cache I spent sometime to locate my target. Not long after locating it and setting up the ladder a muggle parked there car directly below my ladder. Thing the old lady was going to ask me what I was doing, no she just got out of her car and walked off leaving me with my jaw on the ground WTF.
Well managed to retrieve the cache sign the log and replace it without dropping anything on her car
Muchas gracias a mi amigo*

Final one and all that tree climbing plus the run from the middle of Lysterfield lake park to the car were taking their toll, had lost a bit of confidence, got to the top of the tree, but just couldn't make the final leap to retrieve the cache. A massive thanks go to Team Smokey Bear Adam for grabbing this one for me.

Could see this one up the tree but with a baseball match happening right here we could not work out a way how not to bring attention to ourselves climbing up a tree....and perhaps needing a ladder to get started. Will have to come back to this one another day.
This one took us (G' and M' of GJMMelb and I) the longest of all the caches to find - or rather locate because after eluding our eyes and M' climbing - with difficulty and foot bracing by the G' and I - to check a possible hiding spot, and trying another tree too I finally caught sight of it. And it was pretty obvious this one was not going to be attempted today, nor would I want M' to risk it....
I received a call late at night, 'There are some FTF's which have come up. are you coming?'. Wanting to see what this was all about and having been given a brief outline of the caches and what they would be I was so there. this was going to be fun. Out on the hunt we raced to this one, where there weren't any other caches racing for the FTF's. This was a really hard cache to reach but it was a heap of fun none the less. TFTC

Sitting at my pc when this series was published. Being not far from home, I decided to join the FTFers.
Moved along to the next. Found Team Smokey-Bear had already been and already claimed the ftf. I did my bit to help ahomburg, n0w0rries, Lukie1987 and andy707 with the joint 2TF.
