I was intrigued to find a mineral springs here after attending a nearby CITO and finishing a bollardy-good Ad Lab. Very interesting earthcache which I enjoyed, bummer that the spring wasn't flowing today. Thanks to Darth Briji for showing us this small piece of early Geelong (Jilang) history.Cache on
Wow, I wouldnt have known there were mineral springs here if it werent for this EarthCache. Thanks for creating it. Answers sent, TFTC!
Answers sent to CO. Logged in anticipation. No water could be pumped today but it was still a great learning experience. A favourite point from me. TFTC
Came here this afternoon as we are meeting family for dinner on the wharf. Sent answers to CO. The mineral water pump isn't working today, but still interesting to read about what this area was.
Answers sent to CO.We were in Geelong for the night and walked along the foreshore collecting some AdLabs and I thought I would wander down to collect the answers for this earthcache. I read the last 2 logs where the pump was not working. When I visited, the pump was working and I had a taste of the water which left quite an aftertaste. It was interesting to find out how the mineral springs are formed.
I was lucky enough to visit the Bellarine today. This was one of the spots I stopped.Once again never new this was here.I tried not to interrupt the guy sleeping on the bench here whlle I collected all info.Sadly the pump is inoperative or maybe the well was dry?Answers sent.TFTEC
Found today after the weather improved and went out to do some exploring along the foreshore. Unfortunately the mineral water is still not flowing. TFTC
Found with Eudes at 12:25pm as our group walked along the foreshore from Rippleside Park to the Phases of the Moon sculpture and back. Didn't know Geelong had mineral springs until now - even if you can no longer get a drink.thanks Darth Briji
We came across this EarthCache while on today's bollards walk from Rippleside Park to Limeburners and back. In all the years I lived in Geelong last century , I never knew about this mineral spring so it was a real treat for me at least to learn of its existence with our visit at 12:25.Sadly, there was no water to be tasted no matter how much we worked the pump. As this opened our Victorian geocaching account for July , our geocaching licence geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion.Thanks Darth Briji{logged while awaiting approval}
There was just a little sprinkle of rain as I arrived at this earthcache, so at least there was some non-seawater to be found, because as with previous finders, there is no mineral water to be tasted here. Oh well. Answer sent to CO. TFTC!
Lovely spotAnd I have to say probably the first earth cache I really enjoyed and learnt fromMaybe is my love for Geelong Im not sure but this was very enjoyable Favorite for me (thats my previously broken heart from earthcaches now healing thanks to this cache)
Ducked on down to the water with Baristayan to take a break from bollard bagging to check this spot out.So cool to learn about these mineral springs! Unfortunately we couldnt quite get the pump to deliver that tasty mineral water, but enjoyed learning all about it nonetheless. Beautiful spot just to walk down to. Answers sent off to COthanks!
We started to do this Earthcache on 26/12/22.Somehow we misplaced it and it popped up a few days ago.So we are now, finally sending in our log.We had an awesome day caching in Geelong that day as it was Boxing Day. The weather was perfect and there we hordes of people around the beach precinct. It had great atmosphere. Geelong is a very special place. TFTEarthcache, we did learn a fair bit about Mineral Springs, in Central Victoria as well as in Geelong.
Found this on a trip to Geelong and would have sampled the water, but it has been closed off.TFTC !
We walked along the esplanade today, taking the shady tracks when we could and finding all the cool bubblers along the way. Springs were out of order so we couldn't taste it. Answers sent to CO. TFTC
Out with au.fait today on an ambitious day ...I had to stop to look at this earthcache as I am slowly trying to reach 100 of them...I made the mistake of tasting the water not once but twice lol...definitely not my cup of tea,....answers sent to CO...
I visited this spot for the first time and found it very interesting. The spring water tasted absolutely foul
It was a drizzling, dreary day when I headed into Geelong for some shopping. I picked up an ad lab bonus and a trad then got some lunch to sit by the water at Eastern Beach along Hearne Parade. Saw this EC which I had been meaning to do for ages (ducked across road to get a trad), then walked to location to get answers. Answers sent to CO.Another little gem most living here possibly don't know about.
Absolutely loved learning about the mineral springs here. Recently we were in Japan and the coastal thermal springs are a roaring tourism spot. The water there is amazing and people go daily to get their fix of minerals. Your skin is left incredibly soft. Shame the water here isnt warmer to do the same. Thanks for this cache Darth Briji fave pointRegardskbucky
Nice to snap up an Earthcache whilst passing by along the beach. And the taste of that water !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Answers have been sent to the CO.After the rain in Melbourne yesterday, for our wedding anniversary, we were keen to stretch our legs, and horizons. I trip to Geelong was mooted, the train ride was cheap and nearby and the wee seaside town seemed to have some charm. IN addition its my birthday so a little amount of caching was factored in. We managed a few Virtuals, a 'few' Ad Lab stages based around bollards, quel surpris, and some other random others. Big thanks to all COs for their accommodating placements.
TFTC. Easy find and brings to a lovely view. There is a definite taste to the spring water. Tysm
What an interesting Earth cache. We learnt something and in a practical nature. If it wasn't for caching, we probably would not have come across this experience.
Answers sent by message. Not a huge fan of the taste of the mineral water but definitely learnt more about these springs and the history of the area. TFTC!
Amazing spot, nice and chilly at the waterfront. Enjoy this photo of low tide here. Pika 26/8/23
Spotted this earthcache while sorting a multi along the walkway. Answers sent to CO, thanks for an earthcache which was not as complicated as some which do my head in!
During an event nearby I wandered along the footpath beside the breakwater here trying to find a few waypoints for Adventure Labs, when I came across this mineral springs set up. I checked to see whether there was an Earthcache about it and there was, so took some notes to use to answer the questions when I got around to it. Today’s the day. It’s a good set up and interesting information on the boards nearby. Something to promote thought and understanding. Now I might try some of the springs around Phillip Island, where I live, to see if they are mineral springs or fresh water. I didn’t realise you could have mineral springs at the coast.
An interesting spot on a walk along the coast. Not much water coming out but it still smells!

A beautiful morning today to stroll along the farthest reaches of Eastern Beach. Couldn't ask for better on the first day of Winter.

After attending the nearby CITO and having a day of caching in Geelong, this was my next stop. Haven't been to this location before so it was interesting to see what was left of the springs...and to have a small taste. Answers were sorted and have been sent to CO. Grabbed a photo or two and then moved on.
Thanks Darth Briji.....something new learnt once again.

Thanks Darth Briji for placing this Earthcache and contributing to this great game. Who would have known Mineral Springs could exist right near the seaside. Having spent many weekends around the Daylesford area, mum and dad always filling bottles with the spring water, thought they would only exist where fresh water collects. Didn’t like the taste then, still not keen on it today! Happy trails, Deanside
Doing my homework for this Earthcache. I actually never knew this was here even though I spend a bit of time in Geelong. I never walked this far! Thanks for setting and teaching me something.
Spent a day in Geelong visiting the foreshore and completing all of the bollard AL’s. Early into the day a very slight detour was taken to visit this earthcache. The tide was out so the ruins of the historic springs could be seen. Very interesting visit, this location is worth a stop. Thank you for bringing us here and TFTC. Answers sent to the CO.
I visited this earthcache as I slowly made my way from Adelaide to the Mega event at Rutherglen.
Today was spent doing some caches of interest around Geelong. I enjoyed this one.
Thanks Darth Briji; for an interesting earthcache. A favourite point from me.

We were walking around downtown when I saw a mineral spring so decided to go and check it out.
It was an interesting read and am not sure how many people would know it is there.
Thanks for putting this earth cache together and bringing us to this location

On our brief holiday in Geelong, we have had the opportunity to visit so many quirky and unusual places through Geocaching. We love exploring this country, and through the eyes of Geocaching we often find ourselves in places we would otherwise not have known about.
This was one such location, and we were quite astounded to find the springs here. We had parked the car a couple of kilometres away and made the walk to this one on a blustery cold day, but the scenery was outstanding and made up for any wintry effects.

This was my first earthcache and I loved learning about the local mineral springs. Geology is always so interesting.
Today was a beautiful day to find this cache as the bay was all sparkly. Only downside … the tide was out so not the most pleasant of smells.
Thanks for the cache!
Peace, Tara

Found whilst doing the Geelong bollards ALs. What an amazing location, it was really cool to read about how mineral water is formed and to taste the water. I found it a bit salty today! It’s very accessible to the public which is great. Answers sent to CO, please delete this log if they are not acceptable. TFTC!
Found on a trip to the beach with the family, this was quite an unexpected find!

After getting off the ferry from Tassie first thing this morning, we decided to visit a handful of caches in Geelong before heading off on our road trip, this being one of them. A very interesting location, some great history, and fun logging requirements too! It was also a stunning morning and the views out to sea were beautiful. TFTC!

We were in the area on other geocaching business and noticed this EarthCache. What an unexpected structure, which we would never have know about, if not for this cache.
Once the information was gathered, it was time for the taste test. I agreed to taste the water, then instantly regretted that decision.
Thank you Darth Briji for highlighting this area for us.

I came down to Geelong today to participate in the Geelong’s Annual Christmas celebrations and when I arrived a bit early for the [Geelong’s Annual Christmas Morning Coffee! (GCA2JZT)](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GCA2JZT_geelongs-annual-christmas-morning-coffee) event I decided to look around to see if there were any nearby caches, when I saw that this Earthcache was only a little walk away.
So I strolled my way over looking out at the beautiful Eastern beach waters. Wow... stunning...
A quick taste of the mineral water and then I sent my answers to the CO.
I always love an Earthcache as they take me to such beautiful places and teach me such amazing things about this beautiful planet we live on.
Thanks for sharing the beauty of this place with me today and TFTC.

I’ve known about these mineral springs for a long time but haven’t been to visit them recently. Today an Adventure Lab brought me nearby so I decided to check them out. I arrived at low tide so got to see some of the remaining structures. I even had a taste of the water and surprisingly it wasn’t the worst mineral water I’ve ever tasted. It’s better than some of the ones at Hepburn. Answers sent to CO vis direct message. TFTC
I am down from the Blue Mountains in NSW visiting with my sister teamashy and geoniece. Today we were nearby, so decided to finally do this Earthcache.
Geoniece enjoyed the "tap".

Thanks for the great earth cache. A CITO today Brought us down to the Eastern Beaches of Geelong and enjoyed our lovely morning walking along the water and and paths creating a better environment! This earth cache was on the way, and definitely a popular spot! Unfortunately we found lots of bottles rubbish and cans from the intermediate area. Now cleaned up!
Found by Mary and David at at 10:45. We walked past this Earthcache during this morning's CITO, so stopped to answer the questions. We're familiar with some of the Central Victorian Mineral Springs, but were unaware of those in this area. Fascinating!. M even had a quick taste. Our thanks to Darth Briji.
I was brought up in Geelong and new of these springs but had never taken that much notice. With this earthcache, I have learned something new. Thanks for the cache.
I must say that I am not someone that likes mineral water in any form so I didn't try it. It was however, interesting to learn about it. Thanks for the lesson and the cache.
Found this one on a cold wet Geelong afternoon .. we were in the area to catch up with friends and had just enough time to log a couple of caches and a couple of Adventure Labs .. I enjoy Earthcaches as there is always something else to learn. Thanks Darth Brilji for this one .. a favourite point from me.
No matter how many times over the years I taste this water, it doesn’t get any better!

I had actually found this quite some time ago, but managed to forget about it and lost all the information requested, but did recall tasting the water back then. So this morning, after dropping my daughter at work, and an unsuccessful and absolutely freezing walk out on the pier, I decided to revisit this site to regain the information.
found this on a walk while in the area for a conference. Didnt love the water but enjoyed the walk
Was really surprised at what awaited me here- and the more I looked the more I saw- indeed took an interesting sample and thought if I had a container would have had some more! Answers sent off. TFTEC!
An early morning as I packed up camp at 6:30am before leaving Bendigo to make it to the Geelong coffee event and CITO.
This afternoon I wandered down to this earth cache and collected the details. Mineral waters are definitely not to my taste buds liking! Answers submitted to the CO.
Thanks Darth Briji for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.

Thank you for the cache. We probably would have missed this interesting spot if we hadn’t found the cache. Always enjoy an earth cache. A walk , a cache, and a geology lesson all in one. Encourages us to think about what we are looking at.
buhfuhguh and SteMicMitSar offered to take me along to the Geelong area today, largely with the intent of doing just about every Adventure Lab in the area (not exactly a small feat, but at least my find count looks more impressive now!)
Perhaps they wanted to offer me up as a sacrifice to the AL developers after all but, despite this, there was still a lot of back-and-forth between locations as the sequential Adventures' waypoints all intertwined with one another.
Aside from that, the day went pretty smoothly as a whole (even with what we believe to be protestations from a squeaky car door that would only start whining whenever I got out to do an AL question...)
Other caching journeys ended up bringing us past this EarthCache which certainly intrigued me.
The first two answers were answered easily enough, and I was very excited about the third!
The inclusion of a tap at this site is an awesome touch, even with the odd nature of the water.
Answers have been sent off to the CO, but seconds of the drink were not had!

Out and about today with Brainiac03 and Stemicmitsar in order to do the arduous and painful task of smashing out as many lab caches in Geelong in one trip. So that in future trips we won't have to worry about them. With us also picking up the occasional convient trad or other cache along the way.

It was a bit of a ramble today. We just followed our noses around the place.
Nice to be able to roam out of Melbourne.

Spending the weekend with sharkiefan after the loooooong covid lockdown.
We decided to head to Geelong for the day and just cache our way around, no plan, just follow some icons and see where we end up and what we find.
Took a bit to find some info but meant we had to read the information board and plaque a couple of times over. So not only did we learn of the spring but we got some good history here too.

I have lived in the Geelong area for about 28 years & didn't know this spring existed. You live & learn all the time! Thanks
We were visiting Geelong for a few days and with the partner needing to do some work, I headed out with the youngest to go for a walk. As we were heading in this direction, we took the minor detour to the mineral springs. An interesting spot that I wouldn't have visited if it were not for caching. Enjoyed our visit and have sent the answers to the CO

We were in the area grabbing another cache and as much as I'm not a fan of earchcache I found this one interesting and well worth doing.
Thanks for the Earth Science lesion.
Well this Easter I wasn't planning on caching in Victoria at all, in fact myself and Goose of Gooseandegg were meant to be at the Mega in Dayboro Queensland but with the COVID outbreak and Dayboro being in a hot zone we would have had to go into 14 days of quarantine upon our return to Tasmania.
As it turned out this was lifted before we returned but it was too big a risk to take as neither of us wanted to be away from our families for that long or put them at risk.
So we spent almost a week finding rare D/Ts we needed, wonderful old caches and a few types that are in short supply in Tassie, thanks to all the COs for the hard work put into placing these caches.
Thanks for the cache.

A breakout of Covid cases changed my plans to travel to Qld for the mega after I left home and was travelling to Melbourne. As we want to go to WA to see our offspring we couldn't afford to take the risk so instead spent a couple of days doing some caches with Robmc.
Today we headed to Geelong to try our luck there. This area is looking really nice - I remember collecting blue ringed octupus here as a kid. Before we knew they were not our friends. A surprising find, I did not know the springs were here.
Thanks for bringing us here Darth Briji

A short trip to Geelong, and a wander around the Eastern Gardens. Then the Time Lords series, before rushing to the station, then the drive home.
I didn't know there were any mineral springs here. Not a big fan of the flavor though.
The information boards have been vandalized (glass broken making the difficult to read), but the answers could still be gathered.

It’s always nice to find a CO with a sense of humour, apologies for the late log and the multiple message format that our answers were sent in. An area and topic I hadn’t seen before in Vic, very interesting thanks Darth Briji another great Earth Cache lesson.
We were driving back from Ballarat after attending the Ballarat GeoTour - LAUNCH Event and were picking up a variety of caches on the way. We chose to do a couple of Eartchaches as these are probably our favourite cache type. We love the way that Darth Briji points out geological features in a most imaginative way. This is the sixth Earthcache we have visited that Darth Briji has created. We love this part of Geelong and have walked past the Mineral Springs several times before. It was a wonderful cache to finish our day of caching, and the view across to the You Yangs was superb. It is also great to see that the seawater here is crystal clear. Thank you again, Darth Briji, for the time and effort you put into making your Earthcaches so enjoyable and informative.
A hot day and plenty of people enjoying the beach. And what’s this? An earthcache nearby Mineral springs sounds so refreshing. A quick sample and a change of mind for me. Not my cup of tea at all. Thanks for pointing these springs out. I love learning new things and of course being shown things I would otherwise probably have missed.
Thank you for the earthcache. We had been to this site yesterday checking it out not realising that there was an earth cache here. Answers sent to CO. TFTEarthcache.

Hi there Darth Briji.
We found your cache **"Eastern Beach Mineral Springs - ?? EarthCache"** at 2:46:00 PM today. (This makes our find count 24176).
Today we cached around Geelong and found 5 caches in a variety of container types and sizes (& DNF'd 0). Thank you for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places to visit on our nomadic wander around Australia.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

In the morning I jumped on the bike and headed to Eastern Park to complete some of the caches there.
A fascinating spot. Obviously I had a taste and have my own ideas on what it tastes like. I was amused by a nearby muggle who had a taste and suggested that it tasted like blood!!! (Vampires in Geelong?)

I came down to Geelong to spend the day caching as my family is having a big get together tomorrow.
I think half of Geelong was down on the foreshore as the place was packed and there was not much parking.
Found a spot to park and walked down to the springs.
Now that water is a acquired taste and I collected the answers and sent them off to the CO.
Another spot on the map and mineral springs that I did not know about as I have visited a few others.
Thanks Darth Briji TFTEC.

What an interesting discovery this must have been many years ago, I can only imagine who had to go first to decide if it was sea water or ok to drink?
We also saw many interesting things on the shore line and in the water on a calm evening, and our smallest C2 even got to pat a coupe of passing dogs.
We had quite a funny time with each member having a try of the water...

Road tripping from Melbourne to Adelaide with Lady membsec, wombles and 1MinnieMoo.
This was day one of our adventure.
Beautiful time to visit this EC. The lights of Geelong waterfront were pretty reflecting on the water. Unfortunately we had missed the fireworks
While the ladies were discussing the rest of the answers, I decided to get the answer for Q3
Well that is different!!! I think the ladies decided to pass on the taste test after that. Haha!
Thanks for the cache Darth Briji

I spent the morning wandering around the waterfront area and this was a highlight of the day always happy to find an EC that requires some involvement and what better than taste testing
Answers messaged to the CO
Thanks Darth Briji for another great EC
