Fun, adventure, travel, history, geology, mental stimulation, social gatherings, support and friendship are just some of the elements of geocaching.

Out and about enjoying the opportunity to grab a few caches, yours being one of those I targeted on my journey today. Thanks ??

Thanks mudbrick for placing this cache and adding to our game.

we have sensitive skin
we have juicy flesh
we are sacrificial lambs

we need to outrun these mosquitoes

time to race the horde through the bush
buzzing and biting like there was no tomorrow
we swatted
we flailed
we ran like mad

the swarm kept pace, relentless
we were in survival mode
outrun, outplay, outlast
escape the wrath of the horde

we zigzagged through the trees, bouncing off branches and boulders
but
the horde had the taste for ham and fish

we pushed on
through the bush
through the swarm

when it comes to racing the horde
sometimes you just gotta run

Well, I can think of worse ways to make my way to the twentieth anniversary of our State's first Geocaching get-together than continuing the search for Yorick that began during the fifteen year celebration, but not many better ways. Especially in the company of such a fun group of intrepid expedition members.

It's certainly different, being in the middle of a group hike, finding caches.

Every one of these caches is a work of art, mudbrick

Nice to be out exploring this track again and finishing it off. Great to come with a group too as the comradeship keeps you going! Ha ha. Always such great and slightly crazy caches. Thanks so much for putting these out and making me explore such a beautiful area. Signed as event crew!

A little bit of a bush bash but not too bad. Interesting spot here and great cache camo. A favourite from me.

Found with our large expedition group. The log was signed 'The Event Crew'. This is an excellent series with very well themed caches. Thank you mudbrick.

Love and death great timeless topics. Alas poor Yorick! I knew him NOT and really “there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.” But either way I thinks this fun. And, yippeee -no disappointments and all approached with anticipation - the planets aligned and I made the trek from afar, bunked in the girliemobile for the night at Pykes and then headed to the brekky event followed by a tramp in the bush to find these fab Yoricks caches and then to the grand finale ’20 year celebration event’. This whole series has been totally rewarding and impressive. TFTC and the superb planning that has been created for our enjoyment. An odyssey indeed. A fave for sure I thinks.

A day to find out how many Yoricks there really are around this area.
I always thought there was only one, but I seem to be incorrect.
The day started at dawn (not so early this time of the year), and continued with a nice walk and two events.
A lovely day for a good walk, good companions, and excellent caches.

An unexpected shelter at this spot, and finally the cache we detoured to find.
From here we went straight over the hill to rejoin the lane.
Lots of interesting mines in the area. Certainly not a cache to do at night.
Thanks, Robmc.

Our adventures with Yorick actually began back in May 2017, after a Pykes Creek adventure.
As soon as we learnt of today’s plans we were determined not to be alone trekking through the forest in search of more of the cleverly constructed caches containing remnants of the ghoulish nature of the legendary characters.
A somewhat early start from home (5:30am) found us gathering with a number of other intrepid cachers from near and far. Together we trekked over, under and around for about four hours, discovering and logging caches along the way as 'Event Crew' as we made our way through the forest.
What an awesome series!

Thanks mudbrick for this amazing series.

It was an early start to the morning. After a breakfast event it was off to search the bush for Yorick! I joined a crew of explorers making their way on and off the trails to find this series of caches.

There was a bit of unloved up for grabs on this cache today! Fortunately the cache was indeed in place and there for us to sign!

Thanks mudbrick for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to find.

*Cache find # 13010.*

It was a great day for a hike and after the earlier event a group headed off along the trails around the hills on Yorick's odyssey in search of many bones with lots of interesting caches to find.
A few of us had tried to get to this one earlier on by crossing the river but in the end there were too many rivers to cross so we went the long way around and got here in the end.
It was a great morning and we finished in time for the CCE.

**Thanks to mudbrick for placing this cache.**

Found with dalerious and a group of cachers which included the illustrious CO of this magnificent series Cool.
I had no idea what to expect when we placed this series of caches on our list to be undertaken between two events, in an area dalerious and I have not been to before.
The morning started early and we nearly missed the boat getting to the first event with just enough time to hastily pack a bag, say our goodbyes to the rest of the group who were not hiking with us.
Once on the walk, we caught up to a gentleman and said g'day Big Grin. It was the CO himself. It was a lovely surprise to meet you as we didn't know you were there due to us missing the important introductions.
It was a pleasure to meet you, mudbrick Big GrinCool.

I have never had the pleasure of doing a series to which each and every container was made with such great attention to detail, and as for the theme, well that was well and truly up my alley Razz. The excitement was palpable, and we were all eager to get to the next cache to see what the container was going to be.
You kept the theme going perfectly, and we were in awe at how you found so many quality props for the hides [xx(].
I cannot say too much about our wander around this beautiful area, signing our name in a series that we will never forget, and will talk about for a long time Big Grin.
mudbrick, you truly are a master of the game.

Thank you sir for the privilege.

In slippery wet conditions, we came the long way round for "Love never dies". Red Face
We were in no rush to test this theory. [xx(] [xx(]

I've read my fair share of The Bard. Cool
Shakespeare was compulsory reading back in my highschool days, and with an interest in amateur theatre also, there was a time that I could recite Prince Hamlet's soliloquy in the graveyard verbatim. [^]
What I was clueless about though, before commencing this series of Yorick caches, was the number of favourite points needed in the bank to do it justice. Surprised
I was grossly under-prepared. Twisted
Catnap777 and I tagged along with the rest of the Event Crew as our morbid mob thrilled at each and every unique cache container we "exhumed" on this excellent hike in good company with the added treat of having the CO walking along with us. Cool

TFTC and series mudbrick. You too truly are a man of infinite jest. [:o)] [^]

Great spot, how hard have people done it in the past. Was surprised when we came across this, but then, I should always expect the unexpected. It was a wonderful walk, great day, great company

Almost accidentally stumbled into this ruin while trying to hike around to Amblers Lane. Really nice spot for a cache and a nice bit of local history. Tftc

I have a new client who wants me to take him to see “ruins”. Well can’t say I’m going to take a 13 yr old out hiking in the bush like this but think this would be right up his alley. Also up my alley! Love seeing little spots like this, and the cache itself was fun! A FP from me. Thanks for bringing me here.

Quick check, cache OK, great country.

19-May-19
So many old mines, trying not to die. Of course I was leading us and day1976 followed as usual, so we had to be very careful not to step in any vertical mines. A great place for an exciting adventure though.

These were some pretty cool caches and some scenery and adventures that ilukaperi and I weren’t expecting. Some absolutely stunning spots, but watch where you step if you leave the trail!

This one was particularly cool, given the location. Love finding this kind of stuff in the bush. Gets a FAV from me, just for the location.

This was a bit of an adventure to get to. We eventually found the track after crossing the river and climbing logs and embankments. Thanks for another great cache on this really enjoyable trail.

This was our lunch spot while on today's bushwalk around this wonderful area. That gave me enough time to whip around the back for the find at 12:25.

Fantastic, now i have finally seen the Tunnel. Was great to take it in. Was a bit dicey crossing, then i found an easy path right on the other side. Made my way down and around unsure where the path was, Bentley leading the way. Would have been awesome to see this old ruin in it's hey day. Fantastic spot and a fave from me!

I had been interested in coming out this way to tackle the Yorrick series for a while but never had the time or excuse to be here. When I saw the nearby 15 years event published and had a free day I locked it into the calendar. After picking up a couple on the way into the event and then spending time chatting with other cachers the time came to set off for the rest of them on foot. In total it took me about 3 hours to do the circuit, a beautiful and at times challenging walk with plenty of interesting containers and hides along the way. A great deal of time and effort has gone into scouting these locations and then creating the hides for everyone to enjoying finding them.

The crossing of the river twice bit was the easy part here as the water levels were quite low. It was the scrambling up the two slippery hills which was the challenge. Once I finally managed to get up to higher ground I picked my way through the trees to reach GZ. Surprising to see the remains of what once seemed to be a reasonably sized shelter in such an isolated area. Beautifully quiet up here now that I've stopped puffing and panting, thanks for the cache mudbrick.

OK. Bit of a hike to get here with 2 river crossings and trying to find an almost non existent path. Might have bush bashed a bit - maybe. All to find my second favourite cache. Awesome. In the solitude of the surroundings under the quiet of a tree I listened to music that the lovers might hear from beyond the grave. Thank You.

**Find #927**

The tunnel was amazing to see, To be here when the river is in flood would be interesting to see. Great cache at the ruins, Thanks for bringing me to the wonderful place. Loved the journey all the way. Thanks **mudbrick**. TFTC.

Back for stage two of this series with whatthefox and tazman. Easy find with good coords. Crossing the river and finding the walk and climb tracks was fun. Camping holiday at the ruins next time! Maybe? Not! CIGC TNLN TFTC.

**Big Grin Smile # *4258* / Traditional # *3253* Big Grin**

I had planned a long weekend to do a hiking trip, after some plan changes and bad weather, I decided to hike in the Lerdy. The geo wife was happy for me to be away for a little while, so with the geo vehicle packing with all sorts of things, I was off. The road was muggle free before I hit the camp ground where it was very busy and I had to find a spot to park and stay.

I made my way down to the river to see if I could cross. I knew it would be flowing but I couldn't miss the opportunity to not finish this great series. It was a nice spot and as I looked downstream about 200 meters, there was a massive 'dam' of trees that had smashed their way along the river. I made my way to them after checking out the tunnel and surrounds, a fabulous spot. The tree 'bridge' was taller than me. I climbed it careful and made a successful crossing. It wasn't until I went up the hill and down that I had no way of crossing again. So it was go back or move on. It was a no brainer, so I took off the gaiters, hikers and socks and made my way across the very cold water. It would be great in Summer I thought. So with freezing cold footsies, I made my to the other side, put on my socks and shoes again, looked at the GPSr and I was only about 20 meters from the cache. Success [^]. I wandered around the ruins before finding this cache without trouble, watching where I stepped. Stamped and returned as found.

**Thanks for placing this trad cache and wonderful series mudbrick** [^]
**Cache container and log in good condition**

Having previously completed a few of this series, Bogonhazy, the geo dogs and I decided to take advantage of the beautiful day and headed to O'Briens Crossing for a bbq and a geo-adventure. What a day it was. Relaxing, exhausting and exciting. I didn't think I had it in me to complete the series. The first part nearly killed my unfit body but after we got going the views, beautiful country side and the adventure made the 2 1/2 hr trek exhilarating. We made a few wrong turns but it just added to the adventure. Cliff descents, rock climbs and even a tree crossing - all unnecessary but so much fun. The dogs, BH and I all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and even though I was cursing your name at a few points, definitely my favourite bush adventure to date. Thanks Muddy for another fantastic series. Love your work xx Awesome spot and even a little music to enjoy it

After doing the previous 8 caches from the road, Leetalicious and I grabbed the two geodogs, Tess and Worf, and decided to make a day of it and head to O'Brien's Crossing to do the rest. We started with the little gas cooker grilling up a steak sandwich at the crossing and a cold drink each, then packed it all up and off we went.
A tough first section got the heart racing before it levels out to a well defined track on relatively level terrain. Each and every cache has it's trademark Muddie signature. You are guaranteed a quick find because they're huge and with accurate coords, and a smile as you unveil the cover to reveal another well themed hilarious take on poor Yorick.
A fabulous walk that involved 2 river crossings, an amazing tunnel, an old hut, and almost too many breathtaking views of the river and surrounds. 2 1/2 hrs of pure exhilaration in a wonderful part of the state so close to where we live.
Adding a fave point to all of these, really appreciate the thought and effort you put into all your caches Graeme. These are the types of caches that make you fall in love with our game.
Cheers Phil

Loved the tune here, had us giggling like little kids

When I got the call out from DAB asking if I wanted to join him for a hike in Lerderderg I quickly responded with a massive Hell Yea.
We set a date and made the trip out to tackle this awesome series, this has to be one of the most creative series know to man with every hide so unique and well fitting to the name.
The sun was shinning and not a cloud in the sky making for an amazing day for a hike.
Wow what great little hidden gems these are here, 2 in one and an awesome cache.
I had seen so many pictures online of both of these and it was fantastic to see them both in real.
Thanks mudbrick for putting the cache here and showing us these little gems.
Here have another Favourite point.

AAhh Lerderderg... how I missed thee... It has been way too long since I have hiked here and today I succumbed to the call of the cache !! I had driven and claimed the first 8, but I was salivating to stretch the legs and finish this series. It was a bit of a change today, as I usually hike solo. Today I had the pleasure of hiking with Chris from The_Tritonz. With the GPS loaded and the sun shining we set off on our journey into the unknown.
There is no way I would have ever ventured here, if not for this cache. It was a real thrill to be able to view these ruins. I wonder what the history is behind them. They have definitely seen better days, thanks for bringing me here. A fave point from me.TFTC mudbrick Smile

I was out for my monthly caching trip with Biggles Bear, this time aiming for the Altona and Yorick's Odyssey series. We liked the variety of the hides and enjoyed the walk around the circuit.

My thanks to mudbrick for the cache.

Found 2:01:00 PM, in the company of Muzza whilst on our regular monthly caching excursion.

TNLN, thanks mudbrick.

On this fine windy May morning I drove in from Gisborne to O'Brien's Crossing, planning to do 14 caches in the walking series first whilst I was fresh. In the end I did 15 as I detoured to picked up one of the puzzles on the way back. All in all I took 2 hrs and 15 mins for these 15 which will give others some idea of the time needed.
Now into some rougher terrain crossing the river twice which of course was bone dry still. The tunnel is an impressive spot and the old ruin an interesting place.
Thanks Mudbrick

Found on a day walk around the area, thanks for the hide! A lot of mineshafts in this area which makes it a bit scary. Also the tracks cuts along the side of the river where big bits of the bank have been eaten away, and natural cavities are forming everywhere. A bit treacherous and I hope everyone pays attention.

Excellent hide, loved the decoration and the musical element made me smile Smile This stands out from a lot of other caches I visit, and deserves a favourite point.

Looks like love didn't die ( well maybe it did in the cache) but Yorick died and the ruins did too. It's always the chimney that survives the ravages of time better than enything else.
Stopped here to take some photos. That's my excuse after ascending to this point on a full stomach.
My lunch was eaten at the dry river bed. Should have taken a picture of the tunnel and debris too . I forgot.

A wonderful day of caching - 5 hours in the Lerderderg, finding 24 new Mudbrick caches Smile.
It is the discovery of places like this tunnel that makes caching so worthwhile. I spent quite some time here, and took many photos. Another FP for bringing me here - it was the highlight of a great day.
Thanks for the entertaining series, Mudbrick.
