Too good for me.

We had this one pre-solved quite some time ago, so it was good to find the actual cache. There is still plenty to see and do in Canberra and lots of caches, but it is time to move on. The cold is getting to us so we will be heading north. We made the journey from Canberra to Orange, we haven't been here before! As usual we stopped for a few convenient caches along the way and enjoyed lunch in Cowra.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Joshwa27.**SKI Pair****

Although icybeetas’ gps was playing up, the cache spoke to him to look in the obvious place. Complete with the handy hint it was successful in adding a Mystery cache in this LGA for us.
Thanks *JOSHWA27*. We had much better luck on this one than we did in Beerowa this morning.

Having researched the history of Mongola prior to leaving home and working out the coordinates all that was left was to make the find. Mission accomplished.

Instant find on the highway to home, thanks for the cache

06-May-23
Left Yass early for a mini road trip to Cowra so allrounder could do Parkrun. We decided to spend a few hours picking up some caches after she finished. Plenty of caches in the area so we will have to return to get some more.

13th find of the day. Solved the puzzle last night. A likely hiding place spotted quickly and cache was in hand. I enjoyed reading up on the Morongla area.

Log signed, replaced and we headed off.

Today was the final day of our trip to Rutherglen for the mega event over the weekend, and on our way home to Orange, Miss Vitruvius and I made a few stops for some caches. It was great to pick up another history of cache today.

Today I managed to find 75 Caches for the day with my friend Sui_001 & Loci612. It was an amazing day of caching. We had 2x DNFs for the day. We spent a total of 12 hours caching before I had to head home to do daddy duties. One of the highlights for the day was finding some Persons Tree Frogs near one of the caches that we found. Lots of driving to find the caches today. In fact it was 636 kms in total. I love geocaching so much and the friends I have made along the way make it all worthwhile. Thanks for all the caches and sorry for the generic log for this cache, but with 75 finds today it is hard to write a different one for each cache.

ALL CACHES FOUND TODAY WERE SIGNED DSD OR DARKSIDEDAN OR AB OR ADVENTURE BOYS. MOSTLY ALL CACHES WERE IN GOOD CONDITION WITH LOTS OF ROOM IN THE LOGBOOK UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED. THANKS FOR THE CACHE AND THE ADVENTURE. I HAVE INCLUDED SOME RAMDOM PHOTOS WITH THIS LOG. THE PHOTOS ARE NOT ABOUT THIS CACHE SO NO POINT LOOKING AT THEM THINKING THAT THEY ARE A SPOILER PHOTO.

Geocache Poem
By DARKSIDEDAN

My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind
I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see
Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?
Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there
As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.

I am currently writing more detailed logs than usual. This is because of a challenge provided by Project-GC called "The Author" Badge. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to write an average of one hundred words or more in each Found It log. As of 9th November 2020 my average was 160 words per log, which seems close to the 200 words per log target. However given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After 7600 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 160 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before this year ends. Progress has been better than anticipated.

**This Cache:**

The first find of the day! Plans as to where we headed today were changed, so came unprepared and solved a few of these during the 2.5hr drive from Canberra. Got a bit hard when reception cut out but managed to get the green tick on a few important ones we knew we would pass! All good here

**Today:**

*ALL CACHES signed as " **AB!** " for Adventure Boys! which today included Loci612, DSD and Sui_001 to save time and space in logs, and also dated 21/6 at minimum.*

With a day off work, myself, DSD and Sui_001 decided on a daytrip to tackle a small section of the "TRLT" series, and surrounding caches. We left Canberra at 6am and got back at 6pm sharp making it a 12 hour round trip! I managed to bag 70 finds for the day, a huge amount can't remember the last time I got that many without being at a mega event anyway!

It was a very successful day, with only one DNF from memory and a couple others skipped due to having along strings of them. My favourite part was driving up Mount Macquarie with spectacular views! We visited towns such as Cowra, Woodstock, Lyndhurst, Carcoar, Blayney, Barry and Neville.

Thanks to all CO's!

ADVENTURE BOYS!
Loci612 DSD Sui

What an adventure. Found it, and had a great time.

The robot clicked disapprovingly, gurgled briefly inside its cubical interior and extruded a pony glass of brownish liquid. "Sir, you will undoubtedly end up in a drunkard's grave, dead of hepatic cirrhosis," it informed me virtuously as it returned my ID card. I glared as I pushed the glass across the table.

He heard the loud impact before he ever saw the result. It had been so loud that it had actually made him jump back in his seat. As soon as he recovered from the surprise, he saw the crack in the windshield. It seemed to be an analogy of the current condition of his life.

She asked the question even though she didn't really want to hear the answer. It was a no-win situation since she already knew. If he told the truth, she'd get confirmation of her worst fears. If he lied, she'd know that he wasn't who she thought he was which would be almost as bad. Yet she asked the question anyway and waited for his answer.

Spending time at national parks can be an exciting adventure, but this wasn't the type of excitement she was hoping to experience. As she contemplated the situation she found herself in, she knew she'd gotten herself in a little more than she bargained for. It wasn't often that she found herself in a tree staring down at a pack of wolves that were looking to make her their next meal.

29-Dec-20
We've had a very poor year for geocaching this year, with fires, plagues and asthma playing havoc with my caching. We have only 77 for the year, our lowest by hundreds since we started. I want to get to at least 100 for the year. We've been in Brisbane visiting my aged Mum. That was touch and go as well, but we made it for a good visit. Now we are heading home, with 23 caches to collect in five days. We stopped in Dubbo overnight and had a good time at the local club.

Day three, tenth one down. This was a nice easy grab, my first in your fascinating history series. Thanks for the cache.

It was time to return and try to finish off the remaining TRLT series with Rapidlywild. Probably not the best time to go with rain and snow forecast, but we have never let the weather stop us before. So packed all the winter woollies, thermals, gloves and beanies and off we went.

We nearly got all the elements over the weekend even in one day snow, rain, fog, sun and wind but there was also some pleasant weather thrown in there for good measure. Roads in some places were a little hair raising but the trusty 4WD got us through safe and sound.

With permission from some of the cache owners we replaced saturated logs and on a few occasions caches.

All in all a good and successful long weekend away, lovely looking countryside and views along the way.

No problems with this one.

Thanks for the puzzle and hide *JOSHWA27* and thanks for another fun filled weekend away RWLD.

03-Jul-20
Last month, FFLL and I begun the tackle against the TRLT series and managed to get a huge chunk done. Well, we decided we wanted to get it finished so with snow on the forecast, we bit the bullet and packed the thermals and set off to have some fun. We had rain, fog, frost and even snow but it was an awesome weekend for sure Big Grin We reached out to the cache owners of the ones we had to complete to inform them of our intentions and also advise that we were happy to complete replacement maintenance if required, so we came across a few that after extensive searches, we didnt locate, so we replaced as approved by the CO. A large number of replacement log sheets left along the way also to assist with the caches with soggy log books.

Lots of places visited across the weekend, including lots of old churches and old cemeteries across the land. Have all the "History Of..." puzzles in the solved bookmark awaiting collection. No issues with the hide on this one, although got nice wet pants as the grass is long and wet lol

Thanks for the hide Joshwa27 Big Grin And thanks to the FFLL ladies for another fun weekend out and about the TRLT trails and others Big Grin

Big Grin 12 Nov 2019 & 14 Nov 2019 Caching Trips Big Grin
With these two days free, I decided on getting back into caching after a recent dry spell (apart from the event I attended on the 9 Nov). On the 12th, I headed for Cowra to start the caches out that way. I visited many monuments which some included: the World Peace Bell, Koorawatha Falls, Wynnefield Memorial and the one of the old Railway Bridges. Most caches were quick finds but a couple ended up with DNF’s or NA’s which was upsetting but hay… you can’t find all caches because you need things to do next time you’re in the area. Wink There were many different types of hides and locations which made it a very enjoyable day out. On the 14th I headed down over the border into Victoria to hit the ‘S’ series trail which has been on the to-find-list for who knows how long now. Razz I headed straight for the far end of the trail to start so I would finish at the closer side to the other caches on the list to find. This ended up being a solved Mystery cache finding day with a couple of Trads along the way. Also while I was in the area I couldn’t say no to visiting, the ‘Ettamogah Pub’ and ‘The Henty Man’. TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found and for allowing them to bring enjoyment to me and the rest of the caching community. Smile TFTC’s Smile

Travelling west to complete SES training it was decided a few caches would help with driver fatigue. TFTC

02-Aug-19
Last minute opportunity arose for a trip to Parkes to assist with an SES course this weekend and being a five-hour journey, it was sensible to take a break from driving every so often. What a coincidence there also seems to be a cache at appropriate intervals and I had solves for a few more in the “History of” series I wouldn’t normally be heading past. Cache in a nice hole here but giveaway camo was doing nothing to hide it so fixed that a little to complete the duties.

Find #2160
Day 2 of our Canberra roadtrip. We're driving from Orange into Canberra in the rain. Luckily it was never particularly heavy, so didn't dent our caching efforts too much, managing a dozen today over the 300 odd kilometre trip. In between fog bands we scored some great views across the plains too....
I parked southbound and had a look, but was unhappy with the park, and hadn't found the cache, so brought the car over to the other side of the road, and saw the cache out the windscreen.... in an obvious hide, it looks as though an animal has been scratching around it though. Added a touch of natural cover. I had coords out, cache was 15m closer to Cowra than the GPS thought. TFTC Joshwa27

The GZ today was some 11m away from where the cache is located. We note other logs also remarking about the accuracy of the co-ordinates.

Perhaps it's time for the CO to do a maintenance visit and check the co-ords please?

Heading south west from Cowra, as far as Greenthorpe and Bendick Murrell, this is one of the finds we made on the return to camp. Mystery caches such as this shed new light on the places we visit.

Satellites today had our GZ 11m SSE of where we found the cache.

Thanks 'Joshwa27' for placing caches for everyone's enjoyment.

Cairns trip 2016. Day 1. Today I set out from Canberra caching through Cowra, Forbes, Parkes and Narromoine before spending an unsettled night at Narromine where the smoke detector went off at 2am ! On a run with LuckyL10n up around these parts to grab a few of these neat History of caches. Had a lot of fun researching the info and learning a little about the area. Once at GZ, the cache was found after a short search.

#4637 - 09:35; Out on a day run from Canberra to Carcoar and return with Sol de lune, primarily to collect caches in the History of..... series and the Harry Potter series. Our route had taken us through Boorowa and then on to Murringo to what would become a familiar sight for us throughout the day, a cemetery. We were now back on the Lachlan Valley Way and had reached Morongla. After collecting the cache at the cemetery nearby, it was back onto the main drag for this one. Another quick find and sign on the way through. TFTC Joshwa27 Smile

10868. Found with AngelG27 and specimenX ("SAFi" in most of the logs) on a day run up Cowra way.

With the bad weather down the coast postponing a planned run that way, a quick rethink had us planning this run instead. A early start had the three of us hit the Highway before 7.30 and not too long after we started our caching spree. Awesome run, with quite a few of the "History of..." puzzles solved and (all but one) collected, as well as 5 First To Finds making a great caching day with my new invasion buddies.

This was the next find for the day, and the girls took no time in locating the cache. Cache retrieved, signed, returned, and it was off to the next one.

Thanks again JOSHWA27 !! We really enjoyed these Ho caches - we learned a lot of history for sure !

Plans were set in place with fitzy_1965 and AngelG27 for an "invasion" of several country towns between Yass and Cowra. We managed to dodge the worst of the drizzly weather to collect a decent swag of caches on what was a fun day with great company! Smile We signed with the acronym SAFi ("i" for invasion Big Grin).

Another easy find for us. Great work on these "History Of..." puzzles-I love country towns so it's a great way to learn about their history Smile

Thanks for the hide, *JOSHWA27* Smile

Fitzy_1965, SpecimenX and I headed out on a geocaching mission to collect a few numbers for Fitzy_1965 as he has a mission to find 2000 caches this year. This mission was from Canberra to Borowa, onto Cowra, Young, Grenfell and back home. We travelled well over 700kms over 13.5 hours! I found 54 caches in total, my best ever daily total, and surprisingly 5 FTFs! Fitzy obligingly did all the driving and SpecimenX and I made most of the finds, although SpecimenX had her caching glasses on today and was quick to spot most of them. We had solved a few puzzles before leaving so we were well armed to collect both trads and puzzles. The rain/drizzle/mizzle did not slow us down and we had a great day of caching and laughs. We signed as "SAFi" to save time in the rain!

9th cache of the day at 1110 and a quick find by SpecimenX. We enjoyed working out these history caches - we felt like we knew something about the town before we arrived! TFTC Joshwa27!

Woohoo! Yay! This was our second {FTF} for the day. Today we decide to do mostly JOSHWA27 caches and we had quite a successful day. This was the third cache on the list for the day and was not a difficult one to find. Thanks heaps for so many caches that you have placed involving travel along interesting country roads. After finding the cache and duly signing the log it was put back in its proper place for the next cacher to find. Also, doing the research for the history caches is very interesting. This cache also gets a favourite point for being a (FTF) for us.
