DNFAll holes checked for a few times. Several rabbits escaped as well. # 2066 - 4 January 2024 17:25
I was searching along from south to north when my hand was stoking the fur of a dead rabbit. No thanks.
I did wonder why a micro when a 1 liter container would easily hide in there.
I did wonder why a micro when a 1 liter container would easily hide in there.
Didn’t have much time unfortunately, also the gaps under the rocks were full of rabbit holes with dead rabbits inside
TFTC. Winter wanders with Flobberworm! Lots of healthy rabbits sitting sunbathing in the protection of the rocks.
A return visit to Mt Sunday for some new caches, and although the hint was definitely correct, it took us quite a while to locate this cache, well secreted away. TFTC
Quick detour on the way up to grab this. Was a bit tricky got there there in the end. Tftc (photo as I forgot pen)
An impressive bolder and view. Busypaws organised an earthcache finding trip. There were eleven of us. The weather was fantastic. Thanks for hiding this cache TwoSharpe I appreciate it.
This cache was a quick find on an enjoyable walk with fellow cachers. Quite a busy place today. TFTC.
Easy find on a great day out in the area with other cachers. We had a glorious day. TFTC
Out on a lovely day exploring the area. We came over to Mt Saturday which is quite impressive and were happy to sign the log. Then onwards and upwards. Thanks for this cache TwoSharpe.
On a caching trip inland with Coconut3 and heaps of others from Chch. Earthcache day so Mt Sunday was the target. Plenty of trads to find as well. This one was a little off the main trail but an easy find. Tftc.

Nice to have an easier one and great to have a group of enthusiasts to do all the hard work. Thoroughly enjoying the chase. Thankyou

Found on our day trip up to the Lakes to visit family. Forgotten how stunning this place is! Found with Conbat. TFTC!
Found easily. Warm overcast day that threatened showers, but none came. Onto the top from here.
Funny Mount Saturday, we spotted this addition to Mount Sunday very easily. Container and logbook are both in good condition. We grabbed it on our way back, once we were sure there was no on on top on Mount Sunday looking down on Saturday. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache!
Quick find on our way back down. Beautiful day and thankfully a brief respite from the muggles!
Thankfully there was a respite in the muggles and this was a nice quick find. TFTC!
Found while wandering back from the Mt Sunday summit (on a Saturday no less...). Thanks for placing!
I wanted to drive to Mt Sunday today but unfortunately the road was closed. So I decided to walk to the mountain to see this LotR film location in real life. In the end it was a 34km and 8h walk, but it was worth it. TFTC!
Vacations 2019 - Road trip trough New Zealand
With Geoesposa, this was my 50th anniversary. 16 days, 4200Kms and a few hundreds smilles after, i was sure i saw nothing....
I liked everything, the friendly and civilized people, the way the country works, the roads and especially the natural beauty of New Zealand.
I fell in love....
I decided to go back in 5 years, I easily see myself living my last days somewhere lost in any stunning scenery of this wonderful country.
With the itinerary studied at home, the caches were the ones that were in the chosen places, and a few used to stretch the legs. It was decidedly not the most important on this trip. Of all the visited, only half a dozen did not appear, all being in good health except two or three.
I will use this generic log, not for disrespect of the owners, but due to the amount of caches visited. Here the majority of caches serve to show something beautiful (as it should be), not giving importance to the container.
My thanks to all the ownwers who, allied to the natural beauty of the country, have made this vacation unforgettable.

Out with BaldEd on a caching adventure in the upper parts of the Rangitata River. We were ahead of a busload of American toursts.
We can see them getting closer.
Cheers for the cache.

Cheers for the cache.
Out with Tufty on a caching trip to Erewhon. This was the third cache we sought to find ahead of the busload of American tourists that parked alongside as we exited the cachemobile. We were still ahead of them as we reached and signed off Mt Saturday. TFTC
Spending a day geocaching with Tairanium. On our way to the top of Mount Sunday (Edoras). Lovely spot. TFTC.
Easy walk for our three years old. We enjoyed it and found it easily. Thanks from Czech republic
Found Mt Saturday quickly together with Pratchettfan. However, he was just a bit to heavy to get him up again (and he wasn't cooperating).
Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for the cache!
I would like to propose a different theory. Mt Saturday wasn't drunk, he was in high spirits because he was taller than Mt Sunday and jumped into the air from joy. Unfortunately, he was hit by a strong gust of wind and blown off the top!
On our way to the top of Mt Sunday, we realized that Mt Saturday might be in this area, so we checked our GPS and indeed, it was only 80 meters. Without much climbing we made it to GZ where the container could be retrieved without problems. The logbook was dry and in good condition.
We made our way up to Mt Sunday, where we were almost blown off by the strong winds...
Thanks for this Cache!

Found quickly before the beacons were lit and we had to ride towards Gondor to support our allies. Thanks for the cache!
Found yesterday but lack of signal prevented logging.
We wended up the hillside and spotted the hide location very quickly.

Greetings from Texas! We are enjoying Mt. Sunday on day 13 of our 19 day visit to New Zealand. What a glorious area. TFTC!
Startled a few rabbits as we headed for this one but they left the cache for us to find. TFTC
I was on a photography trip when I saw this place and thought...if I was geocaching, there would be one right here...and here it was indeed! Thanks for the fun.
An afternoon drive to Lake Clearwater and beyond with BCD. We drove right to the end of this road as far as we could go. Nice quick find on our way up Mt Sunday TFTC
Found with StreetWalker on an Easter weekend trip to the Mt Somers area, and beyond.
No worries working out where the cache would be hidden - it's a chip off the old block . I circumnavigated it while SW got stuck in and found the cache. TFTC.

With ABTX350. My second holiday to NZ, seeing bits I’ve never seen, and my hosts have invited me back again
I'm from Norway, escaping the cold winter and travelling around New Zealand for 7 weeks, using geocaching as my tourguide. Today I decided to take a drive over to Mt Sunday with a new muggle-friend I got at the hostel. It was a beautiful day and the scenery was magnificent. I have to see the Lord of the rings-movies again now, since I don't remeber much from them.

We had been staying in a bach at Lake Clearwater for the weekend and before heading home to Christchurch decided to finish off with some easy cache. We have been up to Mt Sunday plenty of times & retrieved the cache at the top on one of our previous visits. A beautiful day, hot & blue sky. Still a bit of snow on the tops of the high mountains. We love LOTR ! Visiting from England and found this lovely cache whilst enjoying this lovely part of the world. Thank you to all the COs for all the lovely caches placed for us all to find. TFTC
Just returned from my holiday and catching up on the logs from my fantastic trip. Our guide, geocacher Grandalf, was an extra in The Two Towers. He told me the cache location actually had a hut built around it so it would not be seen in the movie. Quick find. Grandalf's 2500th. Signed log. Thanks
Great to find another cache after the previous disappointment. Quick and easy, TFTC
Found this one on our tour discovering Edoras and the surrounding area. Absolutely amazing.
Thanks for the cache

Quick found, it was a bit tricky to get the logbook out, but at least we managed it! thanks!
At the moment Pfote and me are on a work and travel backpacking trip through the world. After more than two years in Australia we took the chance to be so close to New Zealand, which is the farthest place on earth from our home. So we hopped over and will travel at least most of the south island in the upcoming weeks.
Our final part of the holiday and road trip through the South Island, before heading over to Asia. Now we'll drive from Dunedin via Lake Pukaki, Mount Cook, Lake Tekapo and of course a quick detour to Edoras.
A quick and easy find while exploring Edoras.
TFTC and greetings from Germany.

Earlier in the week I had planned a trip out to Lake Heron for a family 'Fathers Day' adventure, but when I saw a few new puzzles out this way I changed direction - and we continued out to Mt Sunday to climb it again. Blowing a gale out on the plains but nice and sheltered as we headed up the valley. Passed no traffic on the road in (from Mt Somers village) so surprised that there were 3 other cars in the carpark.....more so too as the forecast was naff, the cloud had lowered and the valley further up was dark grey and clagged in.....We came prepared though; so with raincoats on & rain starting to fall we headed off. Great fun. Quick find and sign along the way. Cheers. Continued on and up to the top....the last bit to the summit being somewhat slippery!
A lovely day for a drive up the Ashburton Lakes with Karma Reprint, a small amount of huff and puff and there it was. Upwards we go! Cheers
Hahaha, I get it now! Mt Saturday on Saturday. Cheers for the hide.
I was planning a wee raid to Ashvegas today, then noticed 3 new puzzles up Lake Clearwater way. A quick change of plan, and a text to Kiwi Moose checking on his keenness, and we were off, to a glorious part of the country.
Had a great day, and found plenty to keep us busy.
Thanks to the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

Ninalila and I went to Mt Sunday to enjoy the stunning sceneries where they filmed the lord of the ring.
At the same time we searched the boxes along the track.
We loved so much this place and the 360 degree view at the top.
This is a nice erratic bloc
All the boxes were easy to find.
We signed the logbook with our team name : lekiprokos

FITW LauraHMR & Mr. Dainis P
I skipped the whole week of mountains and caches because of some limits on how many can I find and arrived straight at Mt Saturday. My muggle friend Dainis turned out to be the best finder and got his eyes and hands on the cache first. He's sometimes very **zealous** about finding the boxes but otherwise very uninterested in geocaching.
Moving up towards Sunday next.
Thanks for the cache and greetings from Latvia!
