After caching between Christchurch and Springfield yesterday, today, I started caching in and around Springfield and thenon my way back to Christchurch. First off, I headed for Kowai Bush to find the caches around here. Found on my way baxck down from the BBB cache. I overshot the hint object by a few metres but once my GPS settled, it didn't take too long to find the cache. TFTC, Biggles.

After spending the winter woofing on the west coast and the last 3 months in greymouth it's time to head off and start travelling again but not before a couple of search and rescue events in my old stomping ground...
After a weather bomb put pay to my goat pass trip and plan b and c , made the call to stay in oxford for a couple of nights giving me time to grab a few bonus caches...
Rain stopped as I reached porters but the wind is howling through the trees...

Cache was a quick find amongst the windfall

Wanted to see at least a tiny bit of Beech forest while in the area, and a bonus being a few caches about. Did the walk with the family, and really enjoyed the walk, and being such a short loop the kids managed the walk without any troubles. Found the cache without hassle, thanks for the hide.

Always love a beech forest walk so thanks for bringing me here. Tracked down this walking egg and left our calling card. Cheers

Friday today, we explored from Rangiora to Lake Lyndon

Its Queens Birthday weekend and The Seagnoid, Zara and I are heading out of town for a long weekend to Arthurs Pass, via Kaikoura. Had a fantastic weekend, seeing lots of new places, limestone formations, amazing views, awesome beech forest walks, but getting nowhere fast. Bloody cold at times with -3deg frosts but thankfully the snow stayed on the top of the highest mountains.. Enjoyed driving back via Lake Brunner, Murchison. An awesome few days exploring.

29-May-20
Another nice bit of bush. I love beech forest, especially East Coast beach forest (which is akin to open forest - west coast forest is more like jungle)

Taybeedragon and I are on a five day extended Queen's Birthday weekend. Happy birthday marm! The plan was to cache the Arthur's Pass route, from Rangiora to Lake Buller. You would think four days was enough to do the 211 kilometers, but we didn't even manage the 130 to Arthur's Pass village before we had to pull the pin Monday lunchtime for the drive back to Blenheim. But on the way we saw some amazing views, strange geology, weird amounts of ice in the puddles, ice on the inside of our windscreen - it was that cold. Caves, wonderful beech forests, rather a lot of bridge barriers and even a cache or few. And there was blisters, sliding down icy grassy hills on our bums (what fun!) and rather a lot of walking. Many thanks to all the cache owners that made this such an amazing trip.

15-May-20
We are at level 2 so geocaching is permitted.

======== NZ Mega 2021 ========
Planning for the NZ Mega 2021 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, October 2021

30-Mar-20
Due to the government ordered Covid-19 lockdown, I will be doing my bit to #slowthespread. From 11.59pm on Wednesday 25 March 2020.

The virus can survive on plastic and paper for longer than three days

If you would like a geocaching related activity to do while you are observing the lockdown, I welcome messages about how to solve my puzzle caches - I am happy to give hints and tutorials so you have lots of new caches to find when this is over.

22-Mar-20
Nice easy find!

27-Feb-20
A lovely little Bush walk. Thanks.

31-Jan-20
Lovely walk in the forest stump is the right hint! Thx

01-Jan-20
33 degrees at home so opted to go bush to avoid heat. Great excuse to visit somewhere we've not been. Easy find. Log is moderately moist, but still ok

23-Nov-19
It was a nice day to take the geocaching family out for a little adventure. This was the oldest kiddos second geocache

11-Aug-19
Great hide, and not too hard to find for the kids

08-Jun-19
What a nice place to spend a bit of time today. Saw an obvious spot but didn't find the cache then I saw a bumandworker idea of the hint item. No cache there either - so returned to the first place and had a better fossic round and found the cache. TFTC # 13,871

18-May-19
A meander on the way to Arthur's brought us here. Mrs Poultry said "I wonder if there's a cache here?" And there was. Thanks for the cache.

15-Apr-19

We also have an egg we have not hidden yet. Live this one

30-Dec-17
Should have looked for caches before we walked this track, not afterwards!
So decided we’d go back to do this one after having lunch. Lovely peaceful location. TFTC

24-Nov-17
Thanks!

21-Oct-17
Camping at the gliding club site for the long weekend but the weather isn't good for flying. Decided to take the dog and go looking for caches instead. A lovely little spot of bush.

26-Aug-17
It had been awhile so we headed off to ChCh for some maintenance and then up to Rangiora to round up the last of our solves horses. A long day with 22 of our own maintained and still managed 30 finds before retiring for the night. It was from one end of the scales to the other. The last hide was damp and this location is very dry. It had been signed once more than all the other eggs we had found today. So somebody must not like puzzles. Big Grin I think this is the third time we have been on this walk for a cache.
Thanks for placing the cache and adding to our smilies Smile

17-Jun-17
Cool spot and nice easy find.

27-May-17
A good sign of addiction - leaving the grandchild behind while going caching with your adult daughter! Big Grin We finally found a day we could both get away, and we headed off into the wild to find some! Great day, even though the weather was a little suboptimal. Lots of fun, TFTC!!!

This had been a day in the planning, and a day to look forward to for quite a while!! I took the day off motherhood, left the baby girl with daddy, and headed out to go find some caches - heaps & heaps of caches! - with my mum. Trying to get closer to knocking out as many of those within 80km of home as possible. Not too bad, as I think we found 51 in the end! Well, 51 for me, and a few less for mum. Plus the weather mostly held out!

Good to get out for a little wonder.

TFTC!! Smile

14-May-17
What a fun little walk, we diverted a wee bit as we know one of the owners of the bush and his bach down below was a wee gem. Great to see the place alive and no wasps - Stephen's done a great job with the Waspex. Cheers

08-Mar-17
A nice walk in a pretty patch of native bush to get to GZ. Our GPS was wandering a bit under the tree cover, but the likely hide was fairly apparent. Thanks.

05-Mar-17
As I was hunting for it a family of muggles came along, and as they were interested in geocaching I allowed them to see it when I found it. Saw them again later on and they had download the Geocaching site onto their phones and were interested in joining, so there ya go.

The goal of this little detour going back to ChCh from Woodstock was BBB cache but on the way back to car we took another track and got this cache as well.
Pill containers have proven not to be the best containers for caches in wet places. This one is no exception and a quarter of it was filled with water. Miraculously, the logbook was somehow almost completely dry and I could sign in.
I poured the water out and wiped the container dry, but that will probably not last very long.

#13117. Time for the main walk of the day (which proved to be quite a short one). Troodles stopped to search around something tall, and I spotted something a little further along that is no longer very tall, and it turned out to contain the well hidden cache. TFTC.

After a couple of weeks of grey and often drizzly weather, it was great to finally see the sun again, so StreetWalker and I decided to have a drive to Kowai Bush to find a few caches.
I stopped and looked in one place, while SW carried on a little further and quickly found the cache. A pleasant walk, and though the track was a little boggy in places, mostly it was pretty good. Looks like a recent? storm has wreaked some damage to bush. TFTC.

26-Jun-16
The bush was alive with sound. Lovely. Tftc

05-Jun-16
It was a nice day for a Sunday drive and a pie n coffee lunch, and some caching of course.Big Grin With lunch consumed it was time to go seek some mystery eggs out Kowai Bush way. Reasonably quick find in second place I looked. TFTC.

26-May-16
Love bush walks & those with caches are even better

22-May-16
If there is an easy way and a more difficult way to find a cache you can guarantee we will go the harder way. Found the cache and then found the easy way back to the car. TFTC

08-May-16
Lovely end to the little series, we do love that bush as the walking is so easy. Sooo peaceful!!!! Thanks N and a fav for the wee series.

06-May-16
A quick find and not too many wasps today. Thanks.

03-May-16
Several hint items in the area, some much larger than others. WAHOO again for a {FTF} under the canopy. Carrying on for the view from the top and BBB. Cheers.

I was just settling in for the night, after a dinner and movie date with Ms KR. Got a text from Team Gaters to see if I was free for a mission and well, yes I was. So off we went into the night up to Kowai Bush, Oxford and home again. A great way to pass the time!

Thanks to the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

**FTF** 10.25pm with KarmaReprint
Couldn't head our Monday night.....and then saw a few more caches published out in this area on Tuesday....nice. Quickly solved them all. Mrs TG was out Tuesday evening but she was back 'early enough' that I decided a bunch of caches out Springfield way was a possible target. Getting too late for TW so I touched base with KR to see if he would be keen for an adventure and ride shotgun. He was - woohoo...so I swung past his house and we headed off into the dark on a Mad Tuesday Night Mission.
Parked up and wandered into the track. Nice night for a walk...rather mild/hot (NW!) under the canopy. Great wee reserve. Got to GZ and a proper search by KR of a spot I gave a cursory look netted the cache....yay. Since we were here we continued on to BBB and to see what wee could see from the top....nice wee area this.
