Headed out this morning to grab some previously solved caches that Id yet to collect - this was one of them. Unfortunately it has been so long since Id solved this that I cant remember what I did or how I found the solve. The cache today was a quick find with the hint. I added my name to the log and dropped off a TB. Cache returned to its hiding spot and off I went. Thanks for the cache
Found 22 Jun 2024 at 3:11:14PMA last minute decision saw me heading out bright and early for Creswick parkrun followed by a couple of nearby events, a few caches in the area followed by another cito in Miners Rest. A fun day out. Many thanks to GeoYogster for placing Miners Rest Heritage Trail - James Scobie for us all to find. Found by Mary and David at 10:00. Enjoyed getting the coordinates. With all the Events today, we stayed in Ballarat last night. Love coming here for the history. Our thanks to GeoYogster.
Not knowing the area that well, it took me a little while to find the right road in. A couple of 'No Through Road' sign had me turning around a couple of times, but eventually all was good and I was at GZ. A quick find, log signing and I was on my way before the dog walkers caught up with me.Thanks GeoYogter...cache all good.
I headed up to Ballarat after work yesterday so I did not have to get up too early to attend the event and CITO at Miners Rest.I think that Im on first names basis with the guy from the motel because he greeted me when I walked in the door.So after the event and CITO it was time to pick up a few caches in the area before having to head on back home. This was the first one that I came looking for after the event and I had solved this one previously before heading up here.Sometimes Ballarat seems like my second home as Im up this way enough. Thanks GeoYogster TFTC.
A few spare days to fill before Christmas so I made the decision to hit the road and go on a road trip from Adelaide to Ballarat. The main purpose of the trip is to tackle the Ballarat Geo Tour before they get archived in February 2024. Day three was spent getting festive on the Christmas Down Under trail, a spell in Miners Rest, a walk around Learmonth, west side of Lake Lake Wendouree and even found the time to pick up a few solved mysteries. Another busy day. Quick find here. Cache is all good. Thanks for the cache GeoYogster.# # #13787 # #
A quick find here today on my way pastThis week I decided to head to Victoria for a few days to target finishing off the Ballarat Geotour and also find the new series in St Arnaud, anything else was a bonus. I ended up finding a little over 300 caches plus a tonne of ad labs along the way. Thanks for the series
Sunday already and we're working our way through the geotour caches. Weather is not on our side, so all is a bit harder then needed. Still having heaps of fun!TFTC Wilbert67
We're working our way through the geotour caches and others, this will be another memorable caching trip, a little more challenging due to the weather . Still it's great to be outdoors ans collecting smileys.TFTC J+J.au

I was by now heading towards Mount Beckworth and stopped here to attempt to find this cache. It was a quick find and then I resumed my journey.**Thank-you to GeoYogster for placing this geocache**
Time for Mr. Lazy aka JTreeTrack2 to catch up on some logs. Sorry to the cache owners for the lag. I have enjoyed finding every cache I have found and appreciate all the effort that has gone in to placing and maintaining the caches. Hopefully I will find more caches and give a more timely and personalized logThanks again for placing the cache.
Over from Tassie to visit Lady membsec’s mother and decided on the way to pick up a few caches. We can’t remember how many times we have been close to this cache but obviously to busy to stop. Today we had time to find. The container was wet inside, so we tipped the water out but the log book is damp, but we could leave our mark.

In Ballarat, catching up with Happy pants and Omegaman1971 for a few days. Our main focus will be the Geo tour, but will take the opportunity to grab any other caches along the way.
Plenty of laughs and fun were had and some great hides were found.
This was one of the hides.
Thanks for placing this hide and doing the maintenance, so we can make this find.

We were in Ballarat seeing Mr Dromaniax's parents. We had an enjoyable meal and afternoon and detoured to this cache on the way home by the roundabout way.
This puzzle has been on the solved pile for quite some time, and we finally turned it into a smiley face.
When we solved the puzzle, we hadn't much experience in solving puzzles, and we were rather chuffed to have worked it out. We check this sort of thing out early in our process.
The cache itself was found in great condition.
Thank you, GeoYogster, for this Mystery cache.

Sir_spectre and I managed to get away for a 2 week Christmas break and of course hunt lots of smilies. We were targetting LGA's, old caches, caches with lots of favourite points and the Ballarat Geotour.
Thanks to all who placed caches for us to find

Found with mogni, we are supposed to be targeting the nearby geo tour caches but seem to get side tracked on the way. this was one of the many caches that side tracked us. quick find.
Left with Mogni the day before Christmas to go down to Mount Gambier for Christmas Day. Then on the 27th left for Victoria. Plan A was to go to the Ottway Rangers, complete the Geo tour in Ballarat and then head to Geelong and take the Queenscliff ferry over to Sorrento then grabbing new LGA's on route to almost the New South Wales/Victoria border and the old 2001 cache near there. Also attending a community day event, a CITO and a couple of other events as well. Then head in to the high country and come back to SA in 11 days. Things didn't go to plan. Turns out that one of my almost new tyres was defective ( side wall blown out ) and blew in the ottway ranges on a narrow road in the rainforest, Drove to Melton to stay overnight and get a new tyre there, tyre machine broken and the other 5 tyre companies not open so off to geelong for a new tyre ( and some caches on the way and in geelong ) . The event we where going to attend in geelong didn't turn out, he was late by ALOT to his own event. Then to ballarat to same day since we had a b&b booked for the next few nights. Planned on getting the ferry at 1200 and ended up on the 400 pm ferry but we did attend a event and CITO in geelong. Then we drive into the rear end of a thunder storm with forecast 20 mm dropping for the next few days. Cancel the high country and change targets to letterbox D/T for fizzy grid only using letterboxes and same wirh the multi fizzy grid plus fizzy grid only using victorian caches plus any challenge caches we where near. Plus getting a few more victorian 2001 caches. And finally any caches that had 40 more more favourite points. Only got soaked to the bone for a couple of days but the water on the tracks was noticeable. On the return home tried to get the rest of the missing LGA's around the Melbourne CBD i missed in the last mega. Still a fun trip was had if not the planned one.

Unexpectedly in Creswick to help with planting, I took the opportunity to add to my tally of GeoTour smileys between that and this afternoon's event.
It's always thrilling to finally get your hands on a cache after solving its puzzle a while at, especially when the solution was found when we weren't allowed to travel.
This was the second one of those.
Fortunately, the water on the roadside was not a big enough barrier to getting to the cache.
Thanks, GeoYogster.

I solved this puzzle ages ago during lockdown. Today we were finally in the area, so detoured to pick it up. The road verge had been mowed so access was clear enough to walk without getting surprises in the grass and the cache was found conveniently tucked away. Thanks for adding to my fun.
Last night I got a message from AusFox; asking if I wanted to join him for today in a caching trip to Learmonth and surrounding area in order to climb the peak for the souvenir challenge. With a offer like that how could I say no so it was an early start meeting in Fyansford where we left my car.
AusFox; had this one solved so I signed in as we past by. I have since worked out the puzzle before logging the cache.
Thank you GeoYogster for the mystery

Keen to get out and complete the Reach The Peak souvenir for December, so I made a last minute call to SimsFamily to see what was on for the weekend. Caching it was.
We made our way to Learmonth and surrounding areas to find a few cache’s.
The morning started off cool, but soon warmed up as the clouds moved on.
With the slaw hours during lockdown I was able to solve a few puzzle hides.
Now to head out and locate them.
Bag was torn so replaced with a fresh one.
Log signed and replaced as found.

With two Events in Avoca, I decided a three day trip would be great, That would give Me time to explore the area and do a handful of the many caches on offer in this region. The weather was fantastic with nice sunny days but the nights sure were chilly with ice on the windscreen each morning. I saw many places and learnt a lot of history on the trip. The Main towns I visited were Avoca, Maryborough, Talbot, Clunes and Creswick.
This was one of the caches I found in My travels. This one had been in the solve pile for some time, it was good to finally turn it into a smile.

With some forced annual leave from work to keep our outstanding leave days low I ended up extending the Easter break and coming to stay in the Ballarat area for a few days mainly to complete the Geo Tour since I missed doing the last one at Lake Eildon. I also had some solved puzzles, and plenty of adventure labs for times when it was raining. I also targeted a couple of virtuals and some whereIGo's as well. Even my buddy Fleabag- popped up for a visit one of the days. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable few days and managed to complete almost everything I wanted to.
This second day of my trip started westward along the avenue and then up around the north of the freeway for some solved puzzles and more Geo Tour caches.
I solved this one a while ago and boy did Siri take me on some back roads to get to this one. Thank goodness a nice easy find once at GZ.
Thanks GeoYogster for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

A quick find while passing by this location while at work. Had to empty container of some water and logbook was slightly damp but could still be signed. Good beginners puzzle. Thx GeoYogster for highlighting another part of the local history. Cheers
We figured this one out this morning whilst having a few other puzzles on our list to get, and wanted to make sure we got this one too! Mr jiwilly figured it out relatively quickly (he loves puzzles, mrs jiwilly is more the traditional type gal!)
Arrived at GZ and had this one in hand quick enough. Cache was quite obvious upon arrival so after we signed the log, we tried to conceal a little more.
Thanks for the cache GeoYogster, appreciate the effort gone in to this one. TFTC, TNLNSL, CIGC

This log is to tidy up a mess I made with GSAK . I forgot to apply the template so my finds were published with a nonsensical log.
Rather than try and edit all the logs I post this not with what the log should have been.

Found on a short, post-Christmas sojourn to Victoria with Freddo, Team Waldron and thewhitedoggang that involved plenty of driving, cycling, walking and even some boating and wading.
The weather was on our side (albeit a little warm at times), which made for some great caching. There were plenty of varied finds, with some excellent and often tricky hides and and just a few DNFs. We signed most logbooks ‘F.E.T.T.’

Found with buddies.
On my way from Adelaide to the Parkville mega, with buddies. Whilst in and around Ballarat we have generally been signing the logs "GAMBS" or "GWAMBS", or using our individual stamps, or writing our full caching names (depending on log size/ time at GZ etc).
GAMBS stands for: GoodLook, AnyMules, Muff 1, Brisal5 and SA Sewer Rats....GWAMBS includes Wozzle68 who joined us on our caching escapades - it is always awesome to travel with our very own PAF
What an awesome few days we've had so far!!!

Day 2 of our epic 12 day / 10 night trek to the Parkville Mega in Melbourne.
The constant was my travel companions for the entire trip, - Anymules and S.A. Sewer Rats but we were joined by almost local cacher Bushfire for a lot of the escapades So to save space in the logs we usually just wrote our initials BABS to save space. As we met and cached with other teams along the way more and more initials were added.
Today we had the pleasure of the company of Muff1, Goodlook, Wozzle68 and later Bushfire and Suscoe. So today we became GWAMBS. [:o)]
After a morning paddle it was time to say goodbye to bushfire and Suscoe and head up into the forest and grab the Christmas down under series, and head for the challenge cache series. [:X] That done and it was now time to cache our way back to our digs. [8)] Another puzzle solved before we left SA. whilst eating a pie with sauce. Another cache found during the adventure.

WE had cause to travel into Ballarat this afternoon and decided to attempt to find a couple of the Miners Heritage Trail caches. A quick simple driveby to collect this particular cache

Find #1683 for me. Found at 2:50 pm while in Ballarat for the St. Patrick's Day event and White Night festivities the previous day/night. Like a couple of others in this series, I'd solved the puzzle ages ago but for whatever reason hadn't got round to making the final find until today. This was another quick find for me today made easier since the cache was quite exposed. After signing the log I gave it a little more cover but with the crazy wind today blowing everything all over the place I'm not sure how long that will last. Thanks for this historical series GeoYogster, and thanks for the cache!
#14062. Another full day of caching around the Ballarat area with Robmc. Today we did a few at Miners Rest, visited a Christmas Tree and did an odd few at Creswick after our late lunch. Man, that wind was strong though - strong enough to blow the freckles off your face.
Our first find coming back into town. A nice easy find, all in good condition. Missed seeing the beautiful buildings as Rob had already solved this, but hope to visit it tomorrow, maybe. I enjoy looking at historic buildings.
Thanks GeoYogster

The second full day in Ballarat and surrounds with BettyBoo3747.
Today we went through Miners Rest and then to the Christmas series. We then had a late lunch in Creswick, and a few caches around town to finish off.
We went almost past the GZ of this cache yesterday, but it has been a while since we solved it so forgot if we had the final or start.
Checked it out when we got home - bugger, it was the final!
That made it to the top of the list today.
Thanks, Robmc.

Today was the day for another road trip up from Geelong. This morning I was in the company of Na'wal, a very welcome team member indeed. With a bunch of puzzles solved, it was time to collect some smiley faces. We found a great mix of hides, trads, some mysteries and a letterbox as well. We were spoilt with the weather as well, it was a cracker of a day !! Thanks to all of the CO's for some great hides and some brain busting puzzles. TFTC GeoYogster
DAB and I had planned a day out caching around the Ballarat / Creswick area. We met early with our geo wheels packed with snacks and plenty of drinks on board and set off to enjoy another brilliant, fun day, exploring new areas. I searched for this puzzle solve with a few other ideas before finding the numbers I wanted. A short search at the final location came up with the hide. Stamped and returned as found.

Out with McLookers this a.m. who had solved this puzzle earlier. Today was the day to see if the co ords were correct - yes they were. Cache found and signed . Thanks GeoYogster for bringing me to this interesting area.
Having solved this puzzle not long after it was published, for some reason we had not been in the area to make the find. Today was the day! With Motndarg on board we made quick work at GZ even though the grass was really high. Thanks GeoYogster.
Heading to Melbourne for work today I made sure to nab this one quickly on my way to the train station in Ballarat before meeting up with my boss. I had solved it when it was first published knowing it would be good for a quickie when I was in Ballarat and needed to fill a calendar day. I possibly didn't take the best route in which was not ideal for my low XR6 but once in made a quick find.
I did however get bitten by something in the tree twice on my arm that was quite painful for the next few hours and still looks fairly nasty 2 days later as I write this log. :/
Cache in good condition. TFTC GeoYogster

Find # 3889
Found with Tyred n Cranky
Well Tyred n Cranky were looking at a caching day and decided on heading down to the Brisbane Ranges for the "Fun for Kids" Trail, and of course I had to join in on the smiley hunt
Heading home we decided to make a couple more finds so Tyred n Cranky could make 50 in the day.
I have had this one sitting in my solved pile for some time, and seeing we were so close we made this one our last find the day

Find No. 1618. Found with FUF009 at 9.10pm.
We decided to have a caching day so off we went down to the Brisbane Ranges to do the 'Fun for Kids' Trail and a few others along the way. FUF009 came along with us to get a few smilies as well.
When we had completed the Fun for Kids series, which we started at number 36 and worked our way backwards, we were able to grab a few of the close by Legends series before heading for home. Then on our way home we stopped off and grabbed a couple of close by ones. After stopping for tea in Ballarat we decided to grab three more caches to make it 50 found for the day and this was one of them. Lucky for us, FUF009 had worked out this puzzle ages ago and as we were passing the area we decided to stop off and grab it for our final find for the day.

Thanks for placing this cache, found as we enjoyed a lovely day out, and our third type of cache for the day. Thanks for the fun and adventure TFTC
I managed to find the coords before too long although I have to say that they were not on the cache page. Cache was found easily at GZ.
After the first couple of finds and a lovely hot coffee to warm us up it was off to hunt for other caches in the Ballarat area.
This guy was on our list as I had worked out where we had to hunt to add another smiley to our list and parking close by the find was soon in hand, signed and returned.
Thanks GeoYogster for placing this cache.

Up in Ballarat for what is our weekend to visit family as well as trying to clean up all the new caches the lovely locals have produced lately. Dealing with the typical winter weather we made sure we were rugged up with waterproof jackets to try and keep warm and dry as we jumped in and out of the car in the company of Bushfire and our helper for the day Wozzle68. After smashing out MazzyMay's caches we headed out to Miners Rest to clean up the area once more. Its good to see some puzzles and a multi here.
With both puzzles pre solved , it just meant a quick pick up then gather the info for the multi.
Thanks GeoYogster for the puzzle and hide.

Suscoe decided to do a last minute trip to the Creswick area today in search of golden treasures in the form of caches.
The weather forecast was looking pretty cold and wet but we decided to go anyway.
What else could you do on a day off but cache, so we rugged up with beanies, coats and boots and off we went.
We had gale force winds, driving rain, sunny breaks, hail, sleet and a touch of snow all in one day, what more could you wish for when there were terrific caches to be found.
Worked out the co-ords and found the cache today amongst the flooded roadways of the area.
Water everywhere.
Cache was dry.

An early morning bike ride with the family around the miners rest wetlands had me then thinking about which cache to grab today (attempting to fill my calendar). This knee was solved already and relatively close so a quick duck out soon had me signing the cache - many thanks - loving these Miners Rest caches
Worked the neat puzzle a while back and able to get today on a sunny afternoon. TNLN TFTC.
Paid a quick check on this today and swapped out the wet container with a nice dry one and repositioned so it's not sitting under the unexpected deluge in the area. Look to the fork of the tree now.
Decided to make the most of a not so rainy day and headed out to Learmonth for the afternoon. Relieved to get outdoors and spend some quality time with my husband, Nugget and our biggest geo fan yet....the dog.
Grabbed this on the way home, and CO took the opportunity to do a bit of maintenance, all dry now.

I presolved a few puzzles around here as I knew I was going past this area on the way to Learmonth.
There has been a lot of rain around here and the verges were full of puddles and the cache itself was swimming in a pool. I emptied out half a cache worth of water but the logbook was safe and dry in its bag thankfully.
Replaced out of the water, cheers

Hooley Dooley it stopped raining for us!!! Good to see Jenno3 listened to my warning of not accepting Sean.75s offer of help!!! Tftc and the puzzle.
Out and about with kenare and Sean.75 to grab some mysteries on what can only be described as a disgustingly wet day. Found this one with kenare shouting the magic words and Sean.75 making it rain harder on her lol funny. Tftc
Just grabbing a few more smileys on this rainy day with kenare and jenno3. As we pulled up to Gz it had stopped raining and the cache was found quickly. Cigc. Tftc
Very nice puzzle that took all of 2 minutes to solve, not my usual time frame for a puzzle, found the cache on the way back from Learmonth and using the phone app. New approach for me but it worked well and the cache was found fairly quickly. TFTC.
When these 2 were published I was just leaving the supermarket in Wendouree so I decided to head on out and attempt the multi and ignore the mystery as I was not at home to look at it.
After I arrived home I decided to have a quick look at this one and luckily the first thing on my puzzle solving routine came up trumps with a set of coordinates. Woo Hoo!!
Having trouble getting a response from the website when entering corrected coords I decided to input them directly into the App.
So back in the car I jump for another quick trip from Wendouree to Miners Rest. Pulling up at the "supposed" gz I had a sinking feeling as I was very close to the final location of the Multi that I had signed only a short time ago. A quick call was made home to the Daughter and with the error sorted I was off again. This time the location looked much better and was even inline with the hint.... Eureka!! Found with a fresh blank log {FTF} again.
Thanks for the hide GeoYogster, Miners rest is looking great on the geo map these days keep up the good work.
