Hi yorkshirekiwi83This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived. Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.RegardsTheCoddiwompler
We couldn't find this one. There were a load of spots that looked like they could have housed the cache, but no luck. Will have to come back one day to search again.

During our two-month trip through New Zealand and Australia, we arrived yesterday in Tongariro National Park. The weather is beautiful and we are going for a nice walk. This cache was found during a walk to the Taranaki Falls.**yorkshirekiwi83**, thanks for the cache.
We are currently on a eight week holiday which is mostly spent in New Zealand and Australia. However, the first three days were spent in Signapore as a nice break from an otherwise long flight. Yesterday we drove to Tongariro National Park from Wellington. Part of our team is hiking the Tongariro Crossing. We are lucky because the weather looks good. Mostly blue sky, some clouds, some sun and a nice temperature. Unfortunately the hike it just too much for the other half of the team. Not worries, there are plenty of other beautiful, less difficult and though walks around here. Also as LOTR fans we just had to visit the caches of this series. All the still active caches were found and the hints for the bonus were collected. Thank you very much for this series.
We are on a trip in New Zealand. A wonderful country with a lot of (old )caches. There are too many caches so we limit ourselves to the (old) gems or where we happen to make a stop. We found and signed this cache in good condition. yorkshirekiwi83, thank you for this cache, regards xizat-NL. Take care, this hobby can develop to an addiction.
2024 10:06. Dank je wel yorkshirekiwi83 voor deze cache. Groetjes van mij 1612 uit Eindhoven
Family walk in the national park. Quick find by the kids between groups of muggles. Tftc
Last one of the traditionals on this fantastic walk. Cache container broken but it is in a bag. We are three numbers short for the mystery but can we solve it with a bit of lateral thinking? Tftc and walk
TFTC! Greetings from Estonia! Found this cache while travelling around Tongariro National Park.
Cesta mi zabrala s focenm a hlednm asi 3 hodiny a v tom krsnm poas jsem si ji moc uila. Vodopdy pekvapily. Dolovila jsem u drive in njak dal keky a pak vyjela v do hor do Mordoru. Taky u tu pomalu zavrali. After the night and morning rain, I was afraid that it would be nasty all day, but fortunately the sun came out around 10 a.m. and stayed in the sky. I only drove to the settlement of Whakapapa and set off from there to the LOTR trail, which unfortunately is not much left. I found all the caches, their condition is quite sad. Logbooks are completely full and often damp. I was still pleased with them and especially the walk to Taranaki Falls was great. Across flowering moors with views of Lonely Mountain. I felt like Bilbo Baggins. Then I went up to Mordor and I could totally see the scenes from the movie where Frodo and Sam wander around. I really enjoyed the day, found a lot of caches and walked in the beautiful countryside. Thanks to everyone for their caches and greetings from the Czech Republic.
Our way through New Zealand took us to the National Park. Fortunately, we were able to take a nice walk there and look for a whole host of geocaches. We enjoyed this tour with great pleasure. Thank you CO for making it available. With friendly geocache greetings from the Netherlands
We startetd the day with the Taranaki Fall Trail in Tongariro National Park incl the reaminng LOTR caches in this area. In the afternoon we arrived in Otorohanga where we still the next night. It was a good decision to get up earlier and go for the trail at 8:15am. When we finishe dthe 6km walk the sun was burning and it was quite warm. We enjoed some parts in the shadows with fresh air in the woods and nice views at Mount Doom. Except the disabled cache we foudn all reamining LOTR caches - unfortunately some of them are not in a good shape and many logbooks are quite full. Nevertheless we were happy to walk through Mordor and came back safe. Thanks for hiding and maintaining the cache.Happy hunting!TFTCschnuckel1[#24186]
Yesterday, I got the news that the Shuttle Service for the Tongariro Alpine Crossing Had been canceled due to the heavy Wind. So I had been looking for Plan B which I found quickly: Hiking the Tama Lakes Tramping Track, 17km Return about 5 to 6 hours. As this track is an extension of the Taranaki Falls Track, I was sure to find some nice caches all along the way up to Tama Lakes and back. I was looking forward to visiting the LOTR villains caches which all could be found. Although the logbooks are quite full and some bonus information is missing. Nevertheless, the Bonus was managable and a quick find! The Track, the Lake and the area are stunning. What a wonderful area! We are enjoying looking around New Zealand, full of wonderful places, landscapes and attractions. And so its always good to come across some caches when visiting new places.Thank you to all Cache owners for the caches and their maintenance and making this a wonderful around the world hobby.Thank you for this cache and greetings from Germanyaussi96
Thanks for this series! Got them all! Unfortunately missed a couple numbers for the bonus, but maybe next time!
**Log about this cache:**Today is the sad story of no Tongariro crossing because of the bad weather.A little brightness for one hour give us te opion to visit Taranaki falls. After the visit off the falls there was a lot off rain...**General log:**After years of planning and the canceling of trip due to the corona crisis, the time had finally come:****"more than 5 weeks in New Zealand".**And how beautiful it was!Visited both the north and south islands, many tourist attractions have a cache nearby so I could do some as well.Lots of virtuals and earth caches too and traditionals. But also done a few multi caches here and there also even a mystery and wherigo cache. The trip to New Zealand was great and we saw a lot of nice places. The country has so many different types of landscapes. And the nice thing was that it is winter in the Netherlands but summer in New Zealand Too bad it takes so long to fly and that the flight is so expensive otherwise i can go here next year again. Now you can enjoy it, logging the caches is also part of it. I will try to email the answers for the earthcaches and virtual caches to the relevant co`s as soon as possible. But first log all caches and upload the photos .Submitted via Garmin Live Geocaching
There was a group of people on a plant ID course whilst we were here! We pretended to join in. TFTC
3 weeks (adventure) vacation in New Zealand ???????? for dschinny and me. We were very excited about what awaits us and simply were looking forward to a wonderful time together in this beautiful country ?? We spent 1.5 weeks on the North Island and the rest of the time on the South Island, had an incredible time, visited so many interesting/awesome/breathtaking spots and locations - I am sure that we will never forget this time here at New Zealand our whole life!Yesterday we hiked the famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing. What an adventure, what a stunning landscape around us! The colors of these lakes are magical. We spent much time around the lakes and took so many pictures ?? A very long day full of excellent views, some caches and so many memorable moments ??Today we visited some caches at Tongariro National Park - including this cache. Unfortunately we hadnt had much time to discover this National Park for more than only 5 hours, but we made a lovely walk to Taranaki Falls. It was very hot today so this walk wasnt easy, we were happy about the times that we could spent in the rare shadows on the way to Taranaki Falls. We were also able to find this cache today and could sign its logbook. Thanks a lot for this cache and many greetings from two German GC-crazy New Zealand vacationers ???? zh9 ??
???????????? dschinny & zh9 // Road Trip New Zealand 2024 ????????????From Auckland zh9 and I went further and further south for 3 weeks, we saw and experienced so much that I could write an entire book about our vacation here. Hot springs in Rotorua, swimming and hiking in Abel Tasman National Park, the strenuous and long but indescribably beautiful and impressive Tongariro Alpine Crossing, black water rafting in Waitomo Caves, Foo Fighters live in Christchurch, night hike through Wildlife Sanctuary Zealandia and so much more . Simply indescribable.Of course there was a lot of caching, including today. Thanks to geocaching we saw and discovered many places, viewpoints and other locations that we would certainly not have visited as a normal tourist.Yesterday we hiked the famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing. What an adventure, what a stunning landscape around us! The colors of these lakes are magical. We spent much time around the lakes and took so many pictures ?? A very long day full of excellent views, some caches and so many memorable moments ??Today we visited some caches at Tongariro National Park - including this cache. While our daughter went for the 'big one' the Tongario Alpine Trail, my wife and I did the small ones. Now I finally realised that there is a whole bunch of caches on the track. Time to find a mobile connecting to download the cache information.Best regards,CrankyGerman
Missed when passing so backtracked. Nice and dry here and replaced as found.A day trip out during the Xmas has become a bit of a scene these last few years for daughter Liv and I. Weve been Richmond Ranges overnighting in a hut, Te Aroha for an oldie cache, and this years iteration was a trip up Whakapapa for a trip out to Taranaki Falls, Silica springs as well as another couple of other side walks. We managed over 39 finds for the day and looped back via the Desert Road after heading in via Ohakune and helping a couple of SOBO TA walkers. Thanks to all COS for their hides, there were a few wet LOTR ones but managed to add a mark here or there.
Today we are driving around to explore this area and when passing a geocache we stop. Not for every geocache. We walked to the waterfall, also a lot of water out of the sky??, but it filled the waterfall pretty good.Because of the heavy rain just picked up two geocaches. Thanks for placing and maintaining this geocache,Greetings from team Camperfietser
We thoroughly enjoyed our walk out to the Taranaki Falls, made all the more enjoyable by this series of caches; thank you immensely for the hard work that would have been involved in setting these up.
Loving our trip to NZ. Our trip today to Tongariro National Park to do some hiking was a highlight we will always remember. Hello from Celebration, FL. SL. TFTC!
Today a small Tour to the falls, doing the nice round here, only one we didn't find. A nice walk, thanks so much.
Greetings from Canberra, Australia! It was too cold and windy according to the forecast to attempt the Tongariro Crossing so we decided to walk the loop track to Taranaki Falls. There were beautiful views all around, Rupeahu and Mt Doom were partially behind clouds but they were still epic nonetheless. Quick find at GZ. TFTC!
DFDC!
Daughter was on hand to find this one. Thanks for a great afternoon walk
Challenging hike!I had around 26k steps, we could find all exzeptionell one!Great Vulcanos and hike! Thanks for showing and the Caches!Greetings from Germany,Schnitti
Sorry I did find it just hit the wrong button. The container is in a zip lock bag thanks to a passing couple.
DfdC
First find of many today. My wife (non cacher) said " there it is" before I had even finished reading the clue.
We forgot a pen (which didn't work anyway) so took photos (which need uploading) from an app (we can't download yet due to poor wifi at the motel).
More to come...

We did the Taranaki Falls track today. We were lucky to not have snow during the walk but too many clouds to see the volcanoes. The falls were very beautiful !
#2543. Day 1 of a weekend here at Mt Ruapehu (my first visit since last year) and with a large group of friends and family from Island Bay staying at the Forest and Bird Lodge up above the Chateau Tongariro.
We drove up last night from Wellington in 2 hired minivans, and about 6 cars. The weather was absolutely stunning with blue skies and brilliant sunshine.
This was my 2nd (and as it turned out, final) find of today, having driven down the Visitor Centre. With 7 others, started the Taranaki Falls loop walk, but as one of our number was considerably slower than the rest of us, we abandoned the tramp at the intersection of tracks by the bridge. Stunning views of the mountains along the way.
Easy find. The container is cracked and broken and needs a new log very soon.
Streak day 4 of the medium Wheel of Challenge.
Tftc yorkshirekiwi83.

Thanks for all these caches on what can be a very busy track.
