Logs
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I live full-time in our caravan travelling around NZ, visiting the places we want to visit & doing the things we want to do and fitting in a bit of Geocaching here & there we had been staying in Ashburton but headed out to the DoC Campsite at Peel Forest for a bit of a look around we decided we would go for a bit of a walk & clean up so of the shorter tracks in the area & nab some caches while out & about this was one of them the cache ended up being an easy find, cache container was extremely wet inside, drained the water but itll just happen again, log-book was signed & cache returned as found were also pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN:LN:LS this was #6,507 for us!
Quick find after walk to Acland Waterfall. Contents wet. Will PM photo of find as we didn't have a pen with us. TFTC.
Nice and easy to find cache! There was a lot of water inside it so we tipped out what we could, signed the log (damp but still able to be written on) and put it back. Thank you!
Easy find just off the trail. Great distraction for the kids who were starting to fade after the loop walk. Cache owner: the cache is damp inside and might need to be replaced.
A cracker day to be doing some geocaching at Mt Peel. No problem locating this cache which is in good condition. TFTC
During our trip around NZ we also visited this place. We found several caches here. Thank you. Greetings from the Czech republick.
A quick find here before heading back to the campsite to set up the tents. Lovely campsite, enjoyed our weekend. Thanks for the caches!
Wet wet wet. We poured some water out of the bottom. The log was still mostly dry though!
Found with NZDi. It is Easter weekend and it is time to cross off one of the things on our bucket list, which is to visit the Peel Forest area. We headed south from Blenheim yesterday and overnighted in Rangiora in order to break up the trip. That was an uninspiring place to cache with a miserable strike rate. We arrived at the DOC campground well before check-in time but found out the camp custodians were from Blenheim too, and they let us have our site early. After setting up, we did the Kahikitea Track before lunch. This was the third and final find of the morning, but not the day. It was a bit tricky which one of the three was the hinted one, but we guessed correctly.

The Temuka Girl Guides had a weekend camp at the Peel Forest DOC Camp ground. We went on heaps of cool walks around the area! We walked past this on the way to the big tree walk. This was a cool cache. We left a Guide badge in the container! Tftc
Found on a walk around the campsite. Top was off but contents ok. Put it back together.
Thanks for hiding this cache George Iles I appreciate it. We had our morning tea at the nearby carpark and then went on a stroll to find this cache.
1522. 1:33 pm. The weather is much better today for geocaching. Container was still holding evidence of yesterday's downpour that interrupted our search. TFT(guardian)C.
The cache container body was found about a meter away from the secured lid, Cache was reassembled; TFTC
A quick easy find, but we had to empty green slimy water out of the cache. We replaced the disgusting log with a waterproof logsheet in a clean plastic bag. TFTC
Another one too wet to log, took the geocoin which should be proof enough and als have a photo if required.

Down here to do a difficult cache on my D/T chart & picking up some caches along the way TFTC
A quick find here, spotted the cache from about 5m away. Nice trees and so peaceful.
Found it but the log is totally soaked and unusable. No spare logs or time to clean it up today. This Cache needs some maintenance. Put a pic of the log to show we were there
We are taking our cat Coco on a motorhome and Geocaching holiday. She looks after our home while we go off in Suzy on GC adventures.
We packed a picnic and went on an adventure with many nice walks.
Three lovely old guardians here.
Thanks for the cache George Iles.

A quick find for us once we spotted the guardians. We tipped some water out of the container but the log was dry. TFTC George Iles, we enjoyed our walk around the area.

24 October 2020 5:54 pm an easy find at the end of our walk. TFTC George Iles
Found it but it feels very exposed to what I believe it should be. Tftc
During our travel in NZ we did not have mobile data. So this log is written, when back home.
Very creative way of hiding a box Giving a fav-point. m3h4 was again faster at spotting it.
Thanks for hiding! Found together with m3h4.

This took us a wee bit of looking, however a telltale thingmy gave is the answer. very good! Found on a great day out with Lytteltonwitch TFTC a fav.
This was a nice quick find near the camp ground. It took longer to put back in the correct place than to find it. tftc
This almost had us stumped - until we came at things from a different angle! Then, success! We startled a mother duck on a clutch of eggs, so quickly signed the log, made sure everything was as we found it, and went on our way. A fave from us.
Trickery cache. Quickly found but getting to together again a challenge till we started to use our brains. Lovely place near home.

Heute: 4. Cache von total 6 Caches.
Nachdem wir in Geraldine den Campingplatz bezogen hatten, machten wir noch einen Ausflug nach Peel Forest und haben noch ein paar Caches gesucht und alle gefunden.

We were on our summer holiday, just driving around the South Island stopping where ever we end up when the daylight runs out. We have a few caches on our 'really want to find list' and the virtual nearby is on that list, so here we are at Peel Forest. We had stayed the night and had gone to look for another nearby cache (that we did not find on our first attempt), and as we were passing the camp kitchen we spotted another cacher from Nelson. We had a chat and a good catch up, so once we bid farewell to paddlechick we came to look for this one.
Another nice quick find by GK, I signed the log and he returned it as he had found it.
Thanks for these caches you have placed around this track and thank you for the smiley

Set up my tent then off, then took for a walk before it got dark. Took longer than it should have to find. Left TB. Thanks George Iles

Quick find, log was too wet to sign, so added in a piece of write in rain paper in a bag. Added some swaps. TFTC!
A quick and easy find aound the Mt Peel area. Thanks
We decided on a quick mini break down Timaru way. The only issue was the camp ground had double booked our room, and we were bedless, So we headed up to Geraldine after finding most of the new Timaru hides. On those we found together, to log was signed Ms+Mr KR.
Thanks to the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches. Cheers.

This was all but a park and grab this afternoon. Peel Forest is always a special place to visit. TFTC # 12,587
The guardians are sure looking old..not sure they will be around much longer. ..log damp. ( we have found placing the log paper loosely wound inside a small pill bottle so it fills most of the space and then screwing the lid on and putting that in side the outer container seems to keep the logs dry)
#15410. Troodles went back to get the car from the camping ground (and de-slime her hands), and I headed over to this cache (and a rendezvous with the car). Quick find. TFTC.
The forecast for today wasn't great, so StreetWalker and I decided to head to Mt Peel Forest to try and find the last of our unfound alphanumeric puzzles that were solved quite some ago, as well as carry on up the Mesopotamia road to see if we could score a couple of FTFs.
We initially thought we could access this from the camping ground (where we had parked) but soon realised it was accessible from the road to the eco lodge. So after finding the cache at the saw pit, SW walked on to this cache while I returned to get the car. So cache find and paperwork done by the time I caught up with him. TFTC.

Our first day in New Zealand we passed in the Peel Forest and we logget this cache. TFTC
After doing the Fern walk, Lt. Caine and I were up for another short walk, so we chose the round trip and a couple more caches
