Reperio 17:01Today I had the day off, so decided to spend it along the TRLT series from Hazelgrove through Edith and Gingkin to Mount David. High winds throughout the day made things a bit tricky with signing logs and keeping zip lock bags from flying away, but almost all caches were found in good health, with only a few DNFs, and a few that need maintenance. As I was working from an offline list, I ended up revisiting a few caches I had previously logged due to the list not being updated. All in all it was a great day out.Gratias Team CanaryAs a well spent day brings happy sleep, a well spent life brings happy death - LDV

We are traveling with Geoturtle 37, Papi4506 & The Drovers to do an assault on Bathurst and surrounds. We set our sights on doing some road less travelled caches today to get away from urban caching for a day. We really enjoyed the roads and areas we travelled through but unfortunately we had our biggest DNF count everof 19 caches, especially on one stretch where the road and pine forests have been altered. The rest of the hides were found and the logs signed as THE MOB to save room in the smaller logs. Many thanks for placing your share of this series.

Team Crackers, The Drovers, Geoturtle37 and I are based in Bathurst for a few days and caching in and around the area. GT37 and I had already done a lot of the TRLT so the rest of the crew graciously did this section so that we could mark as found, more of this series. We had a fantastic time doing what we had already completed but this visit was nowhere near as great. There were so many DNF's, more in one day than we have ever had and hope to not encounter again. Such a shame as we have told so many people how wonderful the previous trips had been. There is quite a lot of maintenance needed in one particular area. It is situated in a pine plantation and there has been a lot of activity there. For all DNF's, if we managed to find the cache, we attempted to do the relevant maintenance. Please excuse the generic logs. As this series is about the locations/drive, please know that we enjoyed the day out over all and still managed to find quite a lot of caches today. Thanks for placing these for us to find.

Day 4 of our Bathurst trip with Team Crackers, Geoturtle37 & Papi4506.Today we travelled south again to pick a few of the TRLT series, in the pine forest. Some dirt roads have been ungraded, so we had quite a few DNF's.More than a few caches could do with some maintenance - logs soggy, lids broken. This cache was eventually found with so many cachers looking, signed and replaced. Many thanks for placing this cache, Team Canary, for us and others to find.

16-Aug-21
To help stop the spread of Covid-19, the NSW Government has ordered everybody to Stay At Home, unless you are: shopping for essentials, receiving medical care, exercising or travelling to work or education.

While some people would regard going geocaching as a form of exercise, exercising has been limited to your Local Government Area or within 10 kilometres of your home. Additionally people are not permitted to leave certain councils except for authorised workers.

Who knows how long this current lock down will last? What I do know, as a health professional, is that every one of us has an important part to play in helping to keep our families, friends and the wider community safe in the fight against the spread of Covid-19, by staying home.

Due to the health authority’s directive, my observations of people breaking the law and finding geocaches outside these rules and the risk that if an infectious person finds one of the caches and another person comes along they could possibly become infected, I have decided to disable this cache and request that no one search for or claim a find whilst this cache is disabled.

Thank you for your co-operation. I look forward to enabling my caches as soon as the Stay At Home orders are relaxed.

Stay safe, Team Canary.

Day 2
It was time to return and try to finish off the remaining TRLT series with Rapidlywild. Probably not the best time to go with rain and snow forecast, but we have never let the weather stop us before. So packed all the winter woollies, thermals, gloves and beanies and off we went.

We nearly got all the elements over the weekend even in one day snow, rain, fog, sun and wind but there was also some pleasant weather thrown in there for good measure. Roads in some places were a little hair raising but the trusty 4WD got us through safe and sound.

With permission from some of the cache owners we replaced saturated logs and on a few occasions caches.

All in all a good and successful long weekend away, lovely looking countryside and views along the way.

Thanks for the hide and adding to the fun Team Canary and thanks for another fun filled weekend away RWLD.

04-Jul-20
Last month, FFLL and I begun the tackle against the TRLT series and managed to get a huge chunk done. Well, we decided we wanted to get it finished so with snow on the forecast, we bit the bullet and packed the thermals and set off to have some fun. We had rain, fog, frost and even snow but it was an awesome weekend for sure Big Grin We reached out to the cache owners of the ones we had to complete to inform them of our intentions and also advise that we were happy to complete replacement maintenance if required, so we came across a few that after extensive searches, we didnt locate, so we replaced as approved by the CO. A large number of replacement log sheets left along the way also to assist with the caches with soggy log books.

Lots of places visited across the weekend, including lots of old churches and old cemeteries across the land. Tin Roof almost completely gone now lol

Thanks for the hide Team Canary Big Grin And thanks to the FFLL ladies for another fun weekend out and about the TRLT trails and others Big Grin

01-Apr-20
To help stop the spread of Covid-19, The Australian and NSW Governments requires everybody to stay at home unless you are: shopping for essentials, receiving medical care, exercising or travelling to work or education.

While some people would regard going geocaching as a form of exercise, it is my personal opinion that this activity is a non-essential one, perhaps involving unnecessary travel and therefore should not be undertaken during this time of crisis.

Every one of us has an important part to play in helping to keep our families, friends and the wider community safe in the fight against the spread of Covid-19 by staying home.

As a result of the health authority’s directive, I have decided to disable all my caches and respectfully request that no person seek out and claim a find on any of my hides whilst the caches are disabled.

Thank you for your cooperation.

On a day of mixed locations finding this TRLT series, through forest and farmlands collecting these caches. Mostly park and grabs with leaving the geobeast engine running and some a bit more off the beaten track searching down steep banks and into the scrub. Finally the very hot weather seems to be gone and there is no better time to cache than on lovely autumn days. We are very grateful to have such a selection of caches in such scenic locations. The icing on the cake would be some desperately needed rain as the countryside is horrifyingly dry and parched.

Out with Brewmaker on a two day adventure. On this, our second day, we started at Burraga Dam to continue on The Road Less Travelled touring trail (our third time out for this series) and other associated caches along the way. Passed Mount David and back to Burraga and then on towards Rockley (a very nice little historic town). Then it was along the dirt road to Oberon for lunch and more caches around the town, before finally heading back to Sydney.
It was perfect weather to be touring around the countryside, seeing lots of native birds and farm animals along the way. Thanks to all of the cache owners for the clear directions, hints, and good easy hides. Only a couple took more than a minute to locate. TFTCs Big Grin

On a 2 day caching adventure with GeodudeAU to clear some caches over the Blue Mountains. Starting from Hartley heading south to stop by Burraga Dam overnight, then heading north to Rockley and Oberon. The Road Less Travelled was beckoning to us again today and we were happy to do some more touring along these roads. All the caches were not really hard to find, although some did need a bit of a wander when the co-ords seemed to be a bit out. Thanks to Team Canary for this cache find and by adding our name to the log we are claiming another lovely happy smiley face for our caching map. Our apologies for the generic log, but sometimes on a caching run the hides tend to blend together in the mind.

Hi there Team Canary.

We found your cache **"TRLT - "Tin Roof, Rusted!""** today. (This makes our find count 17842).

Today we headed out from Oberon to complete the "TRLT" series, plus any others we came across on our travels. We started the day off at "5 Trunks" & from there we proceeded to log caches up to "Gum Grove" before heading back to camp. We thoroughly enjoyed today's cache finds, but please excuse our boilerplate logs - we know it's not really a good excuse, but it is really difficult to craft individual logs when we attempt so many similar caches in a day. [:(!]

We found 26 caches today & DNF'd 2. Thanks for placing the cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.

**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found most caches within a few metres of where our GPS said we should be looking. [:(!] (We did have to look a little further afield for some though). [:(!]
**Cache Condition:** Most containers and log books were in good shape but some require a little "maintenance".
**Took:** Nothing
**Left:** Smiley Badge.

Thanks for the hunt today,

Regards

Ian & Penny

Three geocachers (mizmaz, envirogirl86, and myself) embarked on a monumental long weekend to complete as much of TRLT series as we could. Could only laugh at the name of this geocache. Brought back some awesome memories from my performing arts days.

Awesome series!! TFTC!

01-Jul-17
Having completed the northern end of TRLT nearly two years ago with the Rats, was now time to tackle the southern end during a three day roadtrip with StumbleTrip and Envirogirl86. Smilies gained on 162/165 (with the other 3 either disabled or several dnf logs before us) plus a number of bonus trads/puzzle finds along the way. Though reported as the coldest weekend in 110 years, daylight hours were thankfully quite pleasant and made for a fun girl’s weekend. Apologies for generic logs but all were fairly easy finds with mostly good co-ords, obvious camo or definite themes indicating a change in CO.

01-Jul-17
3 girls (Mizmaz, StumbleTrip and myself), a car, a gps and a sense of adventure resulted in 198 caches over 3 days. And, of course, we decided to go on our adventure on the coldest weekend in 110 years. Razz
Sorry for the generic log, however most of the caches we found (162/165 in total) were in good condition and were quick, easy finds. Thank you for placing these caches in such a beautiful and interesting area.

13886. Found during a caching run with Caching Wench #1 along the TRLT series. Awesome day with 118 finds for me...

SpecimenX and I had an early start out from Canberra and arrived at the first cache of the series at about 0930 to start the day off. As with nearly all of the caches this one was a quick find on the nice container because of the good coords and nicely hidden from muggles. Signed the log, replaced the cache, and we headed off to the next one.

Our thanks to all the COs of this wonderful series - we will be back to hit another section soon !

What a treat! We're a good 16,800km from home visiting my lovely Uncle and Aunt. Last year when we looked at caches here there were only one or two - this year, 76 popped up!! I was talking about it, and my Uncle (who has never even heard of Geocaching) decided that we needed to get the computer cranked up, the co-ords sorted and then were all going for a drive to see what this was all about!

This was the second we attempted. My Uncle had worked out what was required, he had read the clue and the cache listing and knew EXACTLY where to look, no GPS required! QEF!!

SL, all in good order. Beautiful sunny day, perfect for caching. TFTC!

There are a lot of abandoned buildings on properties all along the road less travelled. Easy find.

26-Nov-16
After much deliberation and comparing of diaries, The Rats, Steeba and I eventually found a weekend that we could all commit to completing the lower (Southern) half of 'The Road Less Traveled' Series, along with some caching in Bathurst (which was actually the scene of our first combined geocaching trip nine years ago!). A last minute trip overseas for me cropped up; but I arranged it so that I could fly home just in time to not miss out on this caching extravaganza.

Friday night we headed to Abercrombie River via Goulburn (from Wollongong), and camped at the campsite there. Saturday saw us drive the lower (Southern) half of 'The Road Less Traveled' Series, ending up in Bathurst right on dinner time. We then found some local caches before staying at a friend's house for the night. On Sunday we headed back out to Oberon for some more caches and then did a couple of loops around Bathurst. We had originally planned to stay Sunday night, but once we clicked over 300 finds for the weekend the inspiration started to wane, and we all agreed to turn our heads for home.

Cheers

Nothing beats a "road trip". My find count had been suffering from the "rest of life" getting in the way of caching so along with Steeba and Hoojar a plan was hatched to go "beyond the Great Divide". The 2nd half of the TRLT looked to be the obvious solution. Under perfect skies and with gps loaded we hit the dirt roads.

Our first full day of caching had us weaving our way along the TRLT to a point where we completed the lower section of the series in one day. This half is contrastingly different to the other, but still very spectacular. Thanks to all the CO’s of the caches we found along the way. Apologises for the template style log but with 300 finds for the weekend each container begins to look the same.

The Rats, Hoojar and myself made for the wider Bathurst area for a weekend finding some of TRLT series of caches.

The whole area was quite green and recent rains had meant the grass had exploded everywhere and was 3 or 4 foot high around many of the caches.

Not only did we find plenty of TRLT, there were many 'History of' caches found amongst others. Thanks to all the hiders. TFTC!

Second day out in the area to complete the power trail and other scattered caches about. I had camped out in Flat Rock campground, bit since i went to sleep much earlier than normal, i woke up extremely early, 3:45am and couldn't get to sleep again, so while i packed up, i made a coffee to go and started to cache in the dark.
Due to the rain overnight, and frequent drizzle, most of roads I drove down were muddy and very slippery. Gave my xtrail a good workout.
Overall I found 67 caches, and called 3 DNFs.

Thanks for the cache.

Could the hint have been anymore convoluted? Maybe 'under bent trunk' would have been better. Then again it is the Canary, and who knows how his mind works...

17-Sep-16
Two days of intense caching with J+J.AU. Main target was the part of the road less travelled, but we ended up picking up a lot more caches. The Saturday was ideal caching weather and we moved pretty quick. still there were a few tricky parts of still wet "roads" we had to manage with the 2WD. Not getting bogged was a accomplishment at the end of the day! Sunday started good as well after a overnight in Bathurst, but soon the rain set in and became worse and worse. we were glad we were able to finish this part of our planning just shortly after lunch! Any wetter and a few of the roads we travelled would have become very trick without 4WD. Great weekend and lots of fun thanks to J.AU anfd thanks to all the cachers that put the caches out there!

I joined up with Wilbert67 to make our dent on the road less travelled series this weekend. Saturday turned out to be the better day weather wise with Sunday slowly becoming wetter as the day went on until the afternoon was just a wash out with heavy rain.
We enjoyed the drive around the beautiful fields freshly dotted with newborn lambs as well as abundant wildlife and views at times that are truly to behold. Most of the hides were easily found with different subtle twists that kept the intrigue going.
Thanks to all the geocachers that have injected the work into the series and making the experience possible. Thanks also to my partner in quest Wilbert for the great company once again.

This wasn't our first decrepit shed on our travels along the road less travelled. The rural landscape seems littered with the skeletons of its industry: old building, farm machinery; and of course the actual skeletons of animals that die in the field. Viewing the country side is a kind of dying aesthetic, that taken in from afar we call bucolic, taken in up close, we might call many other things.

The tree that hid this cache didn't seem to know if it was going to lay down to die or stand up. But it was a nice easy find. Thanks

Bathurst day 2
We travelled many country miles, passing some wonderful scenic locations & along forest trails.
The wattle is blooming & plenty of new born lambs in the paddocks.
The temperature was about 5-7 degrees all day.
We got to recognise the hides of the different cachers.
Thanks for placing this cache Team Canary

[FTF]. Late afternoon drive to find twenty caches. Good co ords and caches in good order. A lot of work has gone into creating this series. Some tricky hides around Burraga. Thanks for all the caches.

A fairly miserable day around home so we decided to hit the road to grab a cache or three when we saw that TRLT had extended down south a bit more.

A well set out extension from the original series and well worth the time to spend on these back roads. Even with the overcast and rain, the co-ords were good and the a variety of hides made the finds interesting.

Another find with Just a cacher on the trail today.

Thanks for the extension of the TRLT series.
