This morning Granny and I had a plan to continue with seeking out caches with the off-road attribute for our monthly challenge. It turned out to be a fun day and with lots of various caches in lots of places. We got in a few extras while we were passing as well and even found a couple of ftfs along the way. We got to have a morning tea/ breakfast at an event and met some great cachers. There is some really pretty countryside around this area. We signed the logs and replaced the caches as we found them. Thanks for the caches and the hides. If you are seeing this please check out, GCARTY0, see what is planned for October 2025. There is an importance in placing will attends to events. Thanks for supporting geocaching in Australia. ITS A PARTY EVENT!

Heading north for Maryborough to search for Mary's umbrella and many other items and searching for some on this side road. On finding the container we opened it up to find the log very damp - photo taken and sent to CO. Had nothing really to dry it out - hope next cacher will be able to help.

01-Jan-22
Day 2 of my Fraser Coast and Sunshine Coast trip with my son. It’s our New Year traditions. First three we camp at Kilkivan, this time we stayed in Maryborough to spread our boundaries.

Today’s catching was around Gympie and Widgee.
We cache from Maryborough to Widgee for the event. Then we cache back to Maryborough.
We had lots of fun today. With early start and late finish.
My haul today was 30 finds, the breakdown is 21 traditional, 3 mystery, event and adventure lab with 5 waypoints. Plus 5 FTF.
One of the mystery was a challenge cache I signed about 18 months ago. That was painful to do.

Heading north today from Gympie via the back roads to Tiaro and picking up cahes along the way and this was one of them. I parked nearby and once at GZ the cache was soon in hand and after signing the log all was returned as found.

As per the previous log, container is broken and log is wet.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for me and others to enjoy.

Well, finally the weather has decided it will allow us a few days of dry camping (not totally dry, there WILL be a few lagers involved! ).
Our target area is Gympie and a few rural spots northwest. Smile

Quick find of the extremely soggy log.
Cache is in need of maintenance.
Made our mark & replaced as found.

TFTC. We decided to explore a little south of Maryborough. It looked like a good day to do some caching. We planned a loop to Gunalda and return. We were ok one way but we decided to abandon the return until next time. A pleasant couple of hours for 14 caches and exploring a new area. Thanks Sweet-Sour for the fun.

Found with Nyssaflutterby on our escaping reality for the weekend road trip!
We had a plan to find the most caches in a day for both of us (for me just 52, for Nyssa 122!) so after completing a trail we continued on caching for the rest of the day. We could have found a lot more but the heat was against us.

12-Jan-20
Wombles and I were on a mission today. A week ago I had a crazy idea of trying to better my top finds in a day. So this is how we found ourselves in this part of QLD. With a new power trail available it was the perfect place. We had just completed all of the available 101 series and now only needed about another 20ish caches.

For some reason we started hunting on the wrong side of the road Red Face Pretty soon though wombles was on to our mistake and we found GZ. The cache was then found very quickly.

Thanks for the smiley Sweet-Sour Big Grin

Kilkivan Cache-up stay Day 2:

After an early start thanks to some squawking magpies, it was a drive up Mudlo followed by a meander through Woolooga, Miva, and Gunalda before heading south and visiting Lower Wonga, Glastonbury and Brooyar Forests and then Widgee before returning to home base.

A variety of great caches were found along the way, plenty of wildlife spotted and some amazing rural views enjoyed along the way.

This container was a bit sodden, but the log was still able to be signed. Dried out best as I could.

We are grateful to If for replacing the squashed original cache container - great camo on what he used and great idea, too - well hidden, too. A few muggle workers on the other side of the line but they were not interested in us! Thanks for the intersting notes on the area as they were appreciated.

I rolled to a stop near the crossing and wandered to GZ.
Hey !! Nice new fence [:o]
The post has been replaced.

I wandered around for a minute wondering if the cache had survived ??
Then I spied a bit of the lid Sad
Uh oh !!

Nearby in the grass I found the rest of the cache Smile
Nice dry logbook,
but a squashed container !! [:o]
Looks like a tractor ran over it !!
I didn't have a spare container on hand.

So it is still squashed but still in service Smile

Travelling around Australia and currently housesitting in Curra, Queensland.

Today is Mr FelixII's birthday and a plan was hatched to have lunch at the Theebine Hotel. But of course what's a birthday without a cache or 2. Wink

A day of walking in wet grass and slippery tracks after the overnight rain, exploring a new area to us. Just what we love about Geocaching.

A short stop and your cache was found, log signed and we were on our way.

(FTF) I had it in the caching plan to come to Gympie today to do the (13) new ones that this CO had placed. I contacted Keith (Sweet-Sour) to see if he wanted to come for a drive as I anticipated he had at least two of his hides to maintain and he accepted the offer. Checked the internet last night and saw a new hide in Maryborough and 8 more from Sweet-Sour. Apologies for cut and paste logs as I have a lot to write.

I do not actively chase ftf but I will take them if I come across one or two or three or more. 38 hides in the plan today. 36 finds, 1 did not attempt as I did not have a ladder with me, and one
( The emperor ) I did not go out of my way to attempt as it was now dark on our return to Gympie.

No DNF's but came awfully close to one or two but persistent paid off. Left home at 0545 and arrived at the residence of Sweet-Sour at 0615. 486klmn drive today, home to home, and arrived home at 2000hours. Long day but there were many breaks along the way. We drove from Gunalda to Maryborough to Wolvi then to Cooran then to Kin Kin then to Mapleton then Amamoor then back to North of Gympie.

This was the next one in the plan and did not take long to find at all. Sweet-Sour tended to walk slightly away from each GZ leaving all the hard work to me and that is what should happen as it gives the CO a good chance to check his placed co ordinates. Keih and I nearly allways have a gapof about 3 meters. Not too difficult toi find with good co ordinates. I still do paper caching and only load a few at a time into my GPSr. Have the smart phone as a backup now buit initially I was not going to load the APP. Thanks for the company and TFTC Sweet-Sour.
