Note to all: the cache is still in place but access is a little awkward until the cycle way works are completed.
Stopped by to see what was happening here. Spotted the familiar cache container and checked out the area. Managed to get to it and sign log. Will message CO re surrounding area. tftc#9893
The area is being renovated The cache is still there but we are not sure what's happening here. Watch this space.

**19,956**A nice quick find of a cache type we are used to seeing now and the weather has even made a slight improvement. TFTC
Yay, third time lucky! On my previous visits, the GPS has me closer to the bushes to the left, and I certainly was not checking the other side of the fence. Walked pretty much straight to it this morning, although I did have to jump another fence as the track is closed. Lots of planting going on! TFTC!!South Australia is the place be for GCA1DNA - MEGA - February 29th, 2024 in Adelaide! Hope to see you at The Great Leap Forward!
Tftc, last one between Picton and Blenheim in this series.
I was tempted at one stage to use that flat as a fill site for the job I'm running, but decided not too.

Decided to head up to Picton for some caching. Arrived to see all the new work for the Whale trail which is yet to open. Fortunately the cache is not affected. Cache and log all fine. Thanks for the smiley
I am out and about from Seddon mainly to locate a few of the Marlborough Rail caches and a few others that take my fancy or get in the way.
The local I talked to at the previous station used to know some of the boys who played with the brakes and put oil on the tracks. He reckoned he wasn't one of them.
Cheers for the cache, the Seagnoid.

Interesting how the times have changed I'm going to Blenheim should take 27 minutes I think it's going to take about an hour and a half. Nice hide and safe parking tftc
Well, I'll come by again. It feels like I am in a parallel universe as no one has mentioned the prickly stuff that surround the area where my GPS takes me...
Found on a little jaunt to Picton to gather a few more yellow smiles. Grass is long at present. All good. TFTC
Having just delivered half the family to the ferry, it was far too early to head back home. So, I used a chunk of my precious mobile data (I can't afford to be on one of those fancy unlimited ones yet) and made a plan for a couple in Picton and a few on the way back to reach the summit of whatever this months peak is. This was number 3. Easy find this time. I had had a half hearted look one other time but this time actually tried. All good here.
Knew what I was more than likely looking for and I was correct!! Another one in this series found. TFTC the Seagnoid.
Since my original plan of being in Auckland this long weekend is not possible, I decided to head South for a couple of days. Took the ferry from Wellington yesterday morning, picked up a cheap rental, and off I went. I was targeting some specific caches for a personal goal as well as some fun mystery solves and some just 'cos. This was one of them.
All good here, found without too much trouble. TFTC

Heading on a geo adventure with BCD to the top of the South Island...Picton, Blenheim, Havelock and Nelson.
Day 3
Exploring around Picton some more before heading to Blenheim. After a lovely morning walk up to the lookout and the dam it was back to town for lunch before leaving Picton. Had a fair idea of what to look for here and was indeed correct...I really love these containers! TFTC

Came for a walk up here today while the sun was trying to break through. Gave those 6ft high prickly guards at good trim back. So alls good for a while anyway. Cheers
A nice big space to park here with nobody to interrupt us, we thought before not one but two cars came out of the big gates and asked if we needed any help. I'm sure the second one thought MapleroseNZ was having another wee in the gorse.
Cache was spotted quite easily by me but beating a path through the gorse to it was left to MapleroseNZ.

Out and about, mainly keeping out of trouble, with FlossyTeaCake. Getting rather horses overgrown for a kiddie-friendly one. TFTC
Have driven past this so many times without being able to stop. Today was the day. Nicely placed and well protected by a little gorse. All good, thanks Seagnoid.
MR series: find# 8/29
Driving past on my way back to Blenheim at the end of my shift, I saw that this cache had a TB which I hadn't logged and had been sitting idle for a few months. I also needed a find today to keep my streak going.
A very gorse covered location, I kept finding prickles in my clothes for the rest of the drive home, and a lot of red herring geotrails around here.
Luckily I managed to spot the cache from outside of the gorse, and once confirmed, I had to push carefully through a lot of gorse which was taller than my head!
Luckily a signature TS Rail cache, so I knew what to expect, and thankfully the TB was still in here, unlike so many others in the area where the TB has become lost.
Someone please bring pruning equipment and cut back some of the gorse leading into this cache. Even better, and strong batch of Roundup would be ideal.
Only 21 more to go in this series!!!

No luck for me here today - I gave it ten minutes, but I was not going to miss the ferry. Next time!
Thanks for putting out this cache for woolwood9 and I to visit!

Last day of our 3 week geocaching trip in the South Island, picked this one up on the way to the ferry. Thanks again the Seagnoid for all the caches in this great series - very nicely done!

Grabbed this one on the way to Blenhiem. Great container and a fav point from me. Dropped a TB of as well.
Found with StreetWalkerNZ on day 3 of our 4 day weekend in and around Blenheim. Today we are heading to Picton, hoping that the predicted rain wouldn't eventuate. It didn't (apart from a few spots of rain) until we drove back to Blenheim late afternoon.
We were a bit worried when we saw where the GPSr was pointing, but there was a good geotrail to follow. Just mind the gorse near GZ! TFTC.

It was a type of container I now associate with the CO and nicely placed for parking off the busy road and sheilded signing of the log.

Day 9 of my 2020 NZE (New Zealand Experience).
(My apologies for the delayed logging but I'm in catch-up mode)
Seeing as I can't be in America right now, I'm touring around the South Island instead. During my time here I am aiming to find as many of the TMGT caches as I can (preferably all 41) and also as many Virtuals, Earthcaches and Letterbox Hybrids as possible, plus any Trads or others that will fill a hole in my D/T grid, my Jasmer grid, or else the last 3 remaining Hidden Dates on that grid.
Having arrived at my rest a few km short of Picton last night in darkness, today's plan was to get to Picton and then work my way back along the coast ending up somewhere near Kaikoura tonight. It's a journey I had made on my very first day visiting the South Island back in 1988, and I was keen to do it again and also see for myself what has happened to the coastline after the Earthquakes almost 4 years ago. That was a hell of a night, even for me some 150km away at the time.
As I couldn't stop at every cache on the road (otherwise I'd never have done everything I wanted to get done on my tour) this cache was picked at random mainly for its proximity to the highway and where I hoped to have a quick find, but also as I have done many of its sister series in the Manawatu so was curious to see if it was similar.
Arriving at GZ, it didn't take long to spot a familiar object, and the cache was soon in hand. I encountered no issues with the cache or log, so I was able to do the usual caching administration before replacing everything as found and moving on to the next.
Thanks for placing this cache.

Another DNF here as GZ was overgrown with long wet grass and we weren't clothed appropriately for caching in this environment. I'm sure there will be plenty of other opportunities in the future.

#7811. Day 3 of my short holiday in Marlborough. I have a work meeting this week in Blenheim so I flew down early and rented a car to allow me to find the Marlborough TMGT caches and few other caches in the back of beyond. Today the mission was to do some caches in the Blenheim and Picton areas. After having a feed of fish'n'chips for dinner in Picton it was time to head back to my campground in Blenheim. But there is always time for one more cache. So pulled up here and went for a look. It looked a deserted area but while searching two cars came along the driveways nearby. Guess they thought I had gone bush for a quick bit of relief. Whatever there was really no hiding from them. Soon spied the cache. Signed the logbook and returned the cache where found. Thanks the Seagnoid for the cache and a bit more local history.
Yes! Another one of this type!!! Once you know what you are looking for it’s a lot easier! TFTC
Flushed with success at the last railway cache we had time in hand so we thought we would grab this one. This time it was my turn to grab it. This is an excellent way to use up a bit of time when you’re early for the ferry. Note to self: Always leave some unfound caches near ferry terminals for similar eventualities.
I have traveled up this bit of the country many a different method - yet never once thought how it would have happened before modern Technology
Thanks for the food for thought - Kimmy+co and I did have a chuckle as to the 'i think i can, i think i can, oh, maybe i cant' thought process of the train

After a hike in the Wither Hills, eltee291 and myself headed up to Picton for lunch and found this cache en route! Signed the log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache, the Seagnoid!
Found this one today with hingis20. Today was forecasted to be a cooler day and therefore a day to take on another Wither Hills trail. Quite the hike up and a few timew we got to pretend we were shepherds. Absolutely awesome views from along the trails. TFTC
Found with our 3 and 5 y.o. Thank you the Seagnoid for making us stop here. Good info thanks!
Found. A local came down the drive and we had a quick chat about geocaching, he seemed okay with it. Forgot to ask him where the anchor went.
Today was part three of my road trip home to Nelson from Auckland, after picking up my son's "new" car from Napier, taking me from Wellington to Picton by ferry and then on home to Nelson, with time to find a just few more caches along the way, of course. After finding a few of the Manawatu rail caches yesterday it was nice to be able to pick up another couple of Marlborough ones. Having done a few of these before, I knew what to look for and wasn't disappointed. TFTC, Biggles.
After spending the night in Blenheim we were heading north on our way to Picton to catch the ferry to go home after staying in Waimate for the week for personal reasons. As usual I decided that as I was going to be passing a few Geo caches along the way if the chance allowed I would stop and pick up one or two.
After finding GC6VK8Z - Marlborough rail: Overends Siding, we were making our way finally towards Picton and picking up a few caches along the way. I saw this cache on my way South and I decided that if I had time I would stop and pick up this cache when we make our way North, after managing to get back on to SH1, was quite surprise that there wasnt much traffic on the road as it must be well in between sailings.
Making our towards this cache, I kept an eye on the traffic and as we neared GZ, I managed to indicate that I was pulling off on to the side road. I managed to find a safe parking spot at the entry way to a paddock just out of the way of the traffic and noticed that the cache was least than 20 metres away. Decided to park the car here and walk back to GZ, was quite surprise how quickly I was able to find this cache in the tall grass as it was very well hidden even though it was quite obvious as to where it was, what an interesting spot for a cache.
Managed to retrieve the cache, signed and replaced the cache back where I found it. Thanks to the Seagnoid for placing this cache here and for bringing us to this spot TFTC TNLNSL (13910). Glad to get another Marlborough rail cache off my list of unfound caches.
Now it is time to go back to the car and continue trying to find a few more caches on our way to Picton and the surrounding country side before making our way to catch our ferry.

I really like this series, especially the gems you discover like the photo of the Essons valley viaduct. For me this makes it all worthwhile. As for the cache, well it was wet and I took a wrong turn or two but soon corrected this and made an untroubled find. TFTC again tS.
A bit of a lazy Saturday in the end, as dictated by some average weather. But I had a few chores in Picton so popped in to see a friend and ended up going to a book launch at the library out there. That and some retail therapy there and in Blenheim and that was it for the day. A good chance to nab a few on the way out there, TFTC to the COs.

We do enjoy reading some of the history you put in with your descriptions - this one in particular gave us a bit of a laugh - we can just imagine those young people. As we have found a few in this series we knew what we were looking for so a nice easy find was made at GZ. The grass around the area is pretty long so we did leave here with wet feet, that is the joys of winter caching. Thanks for placing this series of caches and for the smilie
Many thanks to all the COs who helped make our geocaching holiday a great success
We left home early April and returned 21 May 2018. We toured from our home base up to a wedding in North Taranaki then carried on heading south right down through wellington and on down the west coast and back up via the eastern side of the alps some times going around in circles. Our aim was to get as many smiley faces on the puzzle caches that we had solved but of course stopping for many traditionals, multies and others as we went. some time we biked the bike trails or walked but mostly by campervan. we enjoyed the quite back country roads, many of them were metal but we just travelled along slowly going from cache to cache. Most caches were in good condition and I will remark if we thought it needs maintence etc.

This was our final South Island find, as we are on the way to the ferry after a great week in Blenheim. Planning the trip I assumed I'd be finding oodles of The Seagnoid's caches, but in the end this was the only one. Now I know why everyone's been talking about his containers; they are wonderful. Miss 3Prettys found it, then thought she hadn't, then found she had--a little extra fun for the hunt.
Thank you for this cache, next time we'll search out more!

We were on our annual family reunion/holiday to Momirangi Bay and Mum and I took a day to head into Blenheim to go geocaching. My purple pen had gone walkabouts at camp which I was abit miffed about (but everyone was looking for it before we left, so I couldnt be too upset) The day started off hot and muggy and got up to 27° but then turned into rain late afternoon so we called it a day and headed back to camp only for it to alot get worse. A great day with 22 finds and when we arrived back at camp my 7yr old niece had brought me a new purple pen.
We were going the wrong way so stopped on the opposite side alittle way down the road and was able to walk back and cross straight away. It took abit to locate GZ as I wasxnt expecting this kind of hide. We grabbed the resident TB and put everything away again and had to wait quite awhile to cross both sides carefully again. As we were waiting we heard the farmer coming in the tractor. So while our timing was off for the traffic it wasnt for the nearby muggle farmer. Thanks for placing the cache and adding to our smiles

A nice quick find, I am enjoying the rail stop series. Last for the South Island this year. Roll on 2018. Cheers.
Today was a day spent cruising around Blenheim, waiting for the late ferry to leave. I was so hot today, >30 degrees. The aircon in the car was working overtime.
Thanks to all of the COs for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

It was long overdue to have a "Picton-Day". Every time we came over the hill there were to many cache distractions at either the Sounds or Blenheim. A dedicated day was planned and only one find of a new placement on the way was made. As it stands we only have one more rail cache to find now. A great informative series. Thank you the Seagnoid
We decided on a day in and around Picton to convert some green icons to yellow and this was our first target here. The compass on my phone had gone on strike so Hazedarus returned to the car to grab his while I continued looking for the familiar hide which I managed to find quite quickly.
The log was signed, cache returned to it's hide, then off in to town to continue our expedition.
Thank you the Seagnoid.

Heading for the ferry today and I managed to get Ms M to leave home early enough to make a few finds before check in time.
Nice to have the chance to find a few more in this excellent series.
I know the Elevation better from flying in and out of this valley. The climb out of Koromiko in a stiff northwester was often a bumpy struggle.

Heading from Nelson to Picton this morning and I had enough time to stop for a few unfound caches. This series appealed to me as I used to travel often between Picton and Blenheim by steam train when I was growing uo and we lived in Picton. Familiar territory! Excellent accurate coordinates took me straight there and I spotted it as I walked towards it Signed log, thanks for the cache and for the informative series!
I should of found this quicker than we did, knowing the rest of the series, oh well, got there in the end!! My pen failed me however.....,tftc
This was both an interesting listing and a very nice spot for the cache. We enjoyed the other sights here that we see are in some of the log photos as well and the new planting near the cache. We were familiar with the steepness of the gradient for both the Otira Tunnel and Rimatuka Incline, but did not know of the other two in the listing or of this one either. After deciding that the Koromiko cache would get the favourite for the series, we felt this was well worth a second one.
Thanks
Thanks
I figured I knew just where this cache would be and yip, I was right! - - - There it was sitting in it's elevated position. I've always been a little fascinated by the name of this overbridge but then again, why not?

Thanks for placing this series. It would be great to see a steam loco, with a string of passenger cars, chugging up the Elevation again.
With the mother in law having flown North for the winter it was safe to head back to Blenheim and find a few of the newly placed caches. Lot's of drive-bys today but managed to get in a short walk or two as well. Last rail cache for the day. I think. TFTC.
I had enough time for a few Park’n’Grabs on the way to Picton. Sort of had a good idea of what to look for by now. Cheers and TFTC
