27-May-24
We were over this way and decided to have a shot at this one, even though it wasn't night time. It was a dullish day, so we happily followed this trail and picked up the cache. TFTC Smile

Over the hill with Kiwi Does on another caching mission knocking off some of the longer ones around and about tga.. Saw these night caches and knew these were right up our alley! Parked at the start point, torches in hand and reflectors in site.. success, cache in hand, now to find our way back to the car for. Stopped partway to observe an absolutely huge eel, This is going to be a long night. TFTC!! Another FP!

09-Mar-24
While in Tauranga with Reschedule. we saw these night caches so thought it would be rude not to knock a couple off. Really enjoy this style. We got a bit distracted following this one as we stopped on a bridge, looked into the stream below and saw an absolutely massive eel. Was most impressive. The eel has earned you a FP. TFTC

23-Dec-23
After a few DNFs, I have checked on the cache and its still in place as it should be. I replaced some reflectors and added a few more to make it easier, put a new waterproof log in and its good to go.

20-Apr-23
I think someone stole it

12-Jan-23
Gave it a go this morning thinking it would be a quick mission but got stuck at one marker and couldn't find any more

11-Jan-23
Didn't want to start this one until we're sure it's still there.

10-Oct-22
The tree that it was supposed to be in was cut down

17-Oct-21
This is one trail I’ve never been on. But a great final spot. So many possibilities here that it took a methodical search before spotting the partially conceal markers. Cache here was missing a log although someone had kindly put in a receipt so just signed that.

28-Sep-21
After a very nice Rice Baby meal at the Mount we drove over to find the last of the four night trails. This one has a bit more up and down than the others. At the second from last arrow I had a pair of eyes looking back at me from the left hand branch. The possum was not impressed and headed skywards. A quick find and a bit of a puff for Ms M back to the car.
An enjoyable series. TFTC

25-May-21
Very first attempt at night caching with kimbathelion. Had us stumped for a while but saw some more reflectors and found it.

25-May-21
Out with buzzy bb, our first attempt at night caching. The description had us tricked but then we found some more reflectors & we were back in business. Tftc

We have been meaning to do the night trails for a long time now, and this weekend we came up with a plan. We’re not Owls, but are early morning Larks. So, if one of us woke up early, we were going to drive out to Welcome Bay well before dawn. Our plan worked a treat.... first on our hit list was the Yellow trail. Then the Silver, and by then we were really getting into the swing of things. So much so, that we spied a nearby Red tag just as we were nearing completion of the Silver; which saved us a little walking.
Back to the car we went, and by this time it was nearing day-break and the sky was getting lighter. But luckily it was overcast and the light was still dim, so we decided to quickly continue with the Green Trail.
We remembered to collect all the code numbers collected along the way, and the Bonus cache was a straight forward find after the 4 night trails.
We had a lovely time – misty rain combined with darkness meant we had the trails all to ourselves, and just near the end of the last trail we encountered a couple and their dog – the only muggles we came across during the course of our (very) early morning adventure. Things couldn’t have worked out better. We highly recommend the trails, well set up, and a lot of fun. Thank you TNXPro.

26-Feb-21
Lost the trail but kept looking around the trees and it was easy to find from there

26-Feb-21
Great cache. Was protected by one of the resident possums. Lucky we don't have drop bears in NZ TFTC 4/4 Johnson night trails. Onto the bonus

26-Feb-21
Decided to drive to this one, as it was super muggy (and to be honest, I'm not a keen exerciser ). Comvoyed with Rowdogg and had actually done TB hotel a week or so ago, so knew the path. Saw plenty of possums on our journey and made sure we weren't standing under one while searching for the cache .

23-Jan-21
Thank you for making my niece and nephews day with this bonus. What an awesome way to spend my birthday

17-Nov-20
Thanks for this Night cache !
No chance of getting lost with these big reflectors...
So many steps....

17-Nov-20
Glad to get this set done with Supernannny Did the first few 10 months ago Enjoyable set. TFTC

31-Oct-20
Gotcha! Took a few attempts (our fault for doing it in the daytime). Finally spotted the second to last marker and was sorted from there Smile
Looking forward to hunting down the rest of the series!

29-Sep-20
Found during our North Island Road trip. We enjoy doing night caches, we dound this series and thought we would give them a go so we started off and thought we would see how many we could get done. We completed the first 3 and though we could leave the final one. So while it was getting late we had to do it.

19-Sep-20
Night mission #4 of 4! The whole clan ventured into the dark tonight, torches in hand. Our youngest (6) was still a little scared, but she braved the walk, and eldest (10) found the cache. It helped to have a really powerful torch! Then we went back to the car via the road, ducking and diving, hiding behind trees and lamp posts until we were confident the bad guys couldn't track us down! Wink We're hoping to search for the bonus cache soon! TFTC

13-Sep-20
Walking to the blue corner diary today though Johnson. Grabbing some caches along the way. TFTC.

27-Jul-20
Log dried out and cache replaced.

17-Jul-20
Cache has been temporarily removed to try waterproof it better.

13-May-20
Thanks for not finding me during the lockdown.

27-Mar-20
Due to Covid19, and to encourage people to "stay at home" to prevent spreading the virus, I am joining others in temporarily disabling my caches.

Due to Covid19, and to encourage people to "stay the fuck at home" to prevent spreading the virus, I am joining others in temporarily disabling my caches.

12-Mar-20
I fully thought those yellow markers were legit. Till we got to the final 2 markers hahaha. Excellent! Log book soaking wet

15-Sep-19
This was fun. Looking forward to finding the rest of the night caches in this area. The log was quite wet!

23-Jul-19
Very nice feeling being TFT in the logbook. Thank you for a little adventure in the park.

17-Feb-19
A check up on the cache and I found it had been muggled. Found everything except the log book, so I will replace it as soon as I can. In the meantime message me a pic of the cache to confirm your find.

19-Nov-18
An after dinner question of "are there any night caches in Tauranga?" was all it took to entice us out the door with our guest renelm from Denmark. We hadn't checked if there was any specific order to follow before heading out. We already had three clues but we needed to locate this last one to help us with the bonus hide. Again no problems here as our night caching equipment made short work of finding the trail TFTC.

19-Nov-18
I've staying at Casa Rosmar for a few days,. and after a relatively bleak day of caching, I had the clever idea of asking if there was any nightcaches in the area..

Well.. there were these 3 + a bonus.. So off to Welcome Bay after dinner.

Last of the night caches.. Bumpy, but shoit route to the cache.. not one but two possums were watching us closely.. one of them was even very close.. (man, they're big..)

Found at 21:41 - #8613 - on a 5 week trip in New Zealand - with rosmar

TFTC Smile

14-Nov-18
After daytime success at the green, we decided to give yellow a go. Followed the yellow markers to the open grassy area, where we lost the markers. Searched the area and found it under some vines. Got the area and set about searching. Found the cache then after we signed the log found the final marker. Thanks

30-Oct-18
Woops! I cheated! After wandering back from TB hotel (during the day) I found a yellow arrow and couldn't help myself. I guess karma got me one because my pen ran out and I couldn't sign the fresh log. Bummer! Serves me right. No more cheating!

19-Aug-18
Cache has now been replaced, a new location found and the trail markers diverted. Hopefully this is safely away from muggles eyes this time. Enjoy.

29-Jul-18
Have to find a new place as cache has been muggled again. Message me for the yellow code if you need it.

02-Jun-18
Just dropping off a couple of TBs

25-May-18
Headed to Tauranga for a long weekend of caching with Merlot58 and Jag50. Did this cache as dusk was setting in and was still easy to follow. A lovely walk through this reserve. Unfortunately, the cache was muggled and lying out in the open in daylight. Cache found out in open. No log paper inside and we tucked it back where we believe it came from

25-May-18
Teamed up with Merlot58 and Aiden29 to form team JAM. It wasn't quite dark when we arived. Although we had followed the reflectors we did bounce around before settling on the correct location. Sadly the cache container was found muggled and lying on the ground near it's hiding place. There was no log but the code for the bonus was still inside it. We tucked the cache back in its hole.

25-May-18
It wasn't quite dark when Jag50, Aiden29 and I arrived at the park to do this cache and I'm glad it wasn't as it's a pretty area to walk through. We had no trouble following the yellow brick road but sadly found the cache container had been muggled and was lying on the ground near it's hiding place. There was no log but thankfully the code for the bonus was still inside it. I tucked the cache back in the hole out of sight.

07-Apr-18
Really fun walk with torches and friends and big dog. Good hint, searched and looked, and surprise! Brilliant cache, great adventure, thank you TNX. Have just realised that with all the excitement, none of us thought to note the co- ord clue, so will have to return tomorrow!

18-Feb-18
Back tonight to find this one and finish the series - which we have managed to do backwards very successfully. Certainly this park has been well explored in our travels. Took a second return to retrace our steps before finding the cache here, but we finally spotted the golden reflector. Great evening walk and a good hide. Cache is all good, but no sign of any crawly critters. TFTC.

05-Feb-18
Yellow Brick Road complete, nice and simple, which was good after the mishap we were having with silver series. Cache sign and clue collected in anticipation of collecting the bonus.

05-Feb-18
Our second cache of the series... and we were starting to have fun. Hard to tell in the dark but it seems like a beautiful spot.

03-Feb-18
Ended up being a great evening for a walk. Thought the weather wasn't going to play the game but ended up nice. Quick easy find, TFTC

21-Jan-18
Having a long weekend in the area with Tinytree and friend. Thought they'd enjoy going out for a night cache or two. Had a great adventure following the yellow brick road through this lovely reserve. The kids were all for it until we were attacked by the evil mosquito army and the final was guarded by "a big gross spider" LOL. Thanks for another fun cache! Smile

19-Dec-17
Found again with Whovianlilli as part of Show me the ropes challenge

19-Dec-17
Nice location to place a cache. Calm environment and nice river. Tftc

09-Nov-17
Went for a walk this afternoon (yes in the daylight). The first arrow missing but keep wandering and you will spot the next one. Cache is in good condition. I wish i had a glove with me as a slug was on it as I pulled it out, EK!!!

26-Oct-17
Oops forgot to add the code to the new cache. This has now been done.

26-Oct-17
This geocacher reported that there is a problem with this cache.

25-Oct-17
The last of the series and followed the signs without any trouble. A quick find and nothing climbed on my arm as I stuck it in the hole. Looks like there was recent maintenance as I was greeted by a new log. Unfortunately the code for this cache was nowhere to be found. TFTC

21-Oct-17
I have now replaced container with a temporary fix. Please tuck away exactly as found to avoid muggles stealing this one too.

24-Sep-17
Darn. Muggled again. Looks like the location has been compromised and the replacement cache has been nicked again. I will have to find a new location and a new cache, but this may take some time to find something suitable. Bare with me.

21-Aug-17
Thanks for the replacement

20-Aug-17
A new temporary cache in place until I can find something better.

17-Aug-17
Temporarily putting this on hold. It is reported that the cache has gone. I will look into it as soon as I can.

24-Jul-17
Well after a fantastic Sunday caching over here with Kiwis69 and HKCB what else is there to do after a day at work but to drive over and cache till midnight! Nothing better to be doing on a Monday night, sleep is for the weak (or for the weekend?) Redbull for brekkie on tuesday morning to make sure I was bright eyed for work after a few hrs sleep

It was rainy in Hamilton, foggy on the Kaimais and then a lovely mild evening in Tauranga. Logs were signed as HK1 to save room.

Although HKCB had already found this one he let Kiwis69 and I experience this wee trail as well. It was at this point we realised how dull our headlamps were compared to HKCBs super powerful torch. Still had no problems located the trail as all the tacks lit up nicely. No problems with the final and we were onto the next trail.

24-Jul-17
Had a great time with 11hpg11 & HKCB around Tauranga yesterday but ran out of time to find our full wish-list of caches. We hatched a plan to return for a night caching extravaganza this coming weekend but, long story short, plans changed & tonight was the night! Logs were signed as HK1 to save room.

Reason #57 to cache with friends: getting to do fab night caches like this! I never feel safe, as a lone female, to wander through parks in the middle of the night, which means I generally avoid night caches. Ditto 11hpg11. Fab to have HKCB to kept us company &, bless him, he didn't even complain about having to re-do those he'd already done, to give us the chance to follow the trails too. Turns out his torch is sooooooo much better than ours, which was an added bonus! Loved the set-up, finding the reflectors & the final revealed itself without too much trouble, love the container too, great fun, TFTC

22-Jul-17
5pm - With a few puzzles solved Squirrel Nutcase and myself decided to go collect these.
All 6 finds today were straight forward. SLTFTC

22-Jul-17
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Trying to get our Mary Hyde - Friends League table to look a bit more respectable. The terrible weather isn't helping...

We liked our first night cache experience here, we decided to attempt another one... We bumped into a little old lady wandering around on her own in the gloom... Once again, the markers were nicely spread out, and we had a feeling that we were controlling the outcome.

We had no trouble until the second to last marker. We had to widen our search area before spotting it. Another amazing journey on the way here... TFTP and TFTC.

19-Jul-17
Woke up early this morning so decided to go out for a walk in this lovely reserve. Enjoyed it awhile back when there were other geocaches scattered about and still am enjoying it now. Followed the trail and walked straight up to GZ, no problems at all. After completing the duties on the log, decided to carry on down the valley as far as the cache location for the silver trail to not only enjoy the walk but also to check the code on that cache. Had noted at the time but hadn't paid much attention to remembering the number. Memory was on form (for once Wink and had remembered the correct value after all.
Thanks for the cache and the opportunity to once again enjoy a stroll in this lovely bush area.

18-Jul-17
This cache frustrated us so much! We found the walnut groves and searched high and low in what we thought was the perfect area to hide it but no luck!
Will defiantly need to go back for another hunt one day! Smile

05-Jun-17
This was the second of our night caching expedition with 2horses and sabre2th ....
the weather was holding off dumping rain on us, so a good night caching was had.
Loved the setup of these night caches and they are very child friendly....

TFTC.

Razz

05-Jun-17
This was so much fun - a must do if you have kids Bonus collection of walnuts on the way home...

30-Apr-17
After finding Davey Jone's Locker we still had a bit of daylight left, so decided to make a start on these night caches which looked do-able by day. When we got to the start coords and saw the first yellow reflector we were more confident of success. And we had no problem following the yellow trail through the reserve. But then we have recently had a fair bit of practice in Auckland following a long trail of tiny coloured dots (Choose Your Hard).
Towards the end of the trail we lost the next marker for a while, but returned to the bottom of the steps and soon spotted it and we were off again to the final. Nicely laid out, thanks. Now to try for the Red.

26-Mar-17
A very cool experience. After our adventure yesterday daughter and her two year old were keen to come on our next adventure. Mr 3 year old was keen to show Mr 2 year old the way. The rest of us made up the numbers and supervision around water hazards (not required). Mr 3 year old was not fooled by the random change in direction and headed straight to gz. The rest of us homed in too but not quickly enough - just as well he has a cache name and is a well seasoned cacher already. Thanks TNXPro for another great day out and a bonus when it's a family affair. I appreciate the huge effort you have made to get this series under way. Can't wait for the next one.

26-Mar-17
We decided that a Sunday walk we be good and what better incentive was to geo caching Our daughter who does the odd spot of caching and her son and grandie were all in for the walk ...this is a great area that I have run and cycled in many times......what a great adventure it turned out to be with one grandie leading on the other to find the trail ...we were soon at GZ and the boys began the hunt and soon had the object in hand although a tad apprehensive but a few reassuring words and all was good ....log signed and and returned to the nice hiding hole thanks TNXpro for another very innovative cache and for making my baby sitting duties a breeze although I thought I may get wet on a couple of occasions ....this was a great adventure and the boys learnt a lot from it ....agreat effort that I appreciate

25-Mar-17
I'ts been a while and as other plans had been disrupted due to rain it was time to catch up on all those logs, this being but one of about 250 of them.

Another trip in the company of HKCB and we were over this way after having to change our previous plans for a big days tramping so better to be close to town clearing out a few we hadn't got before. Working through the caches around Welcome Bay so that another clear spot appears on the map. Must say we are enjoying the darness in the morning so that we can get into the area while others are still asleep
The lure of a night cache is always a priority for us and not to be snezzed at so as this was the first of the day, and it was still dark we were up for the challenge.
On finding the cache, it was no hassel we had to back track after the next night cache as it was only now that we realised that we neded a number. once this was rectified we were on our way once more into the night

Thanks for the cache thanks for the placement

25-Mar-17
Another weekend mission with C&D, we initially had a plan to go hiking in Kauaeranga Valley, but the road had been washed out and access was by foot only, and both of us didn't feel like added 10km to a 20km hike. So plan B was to head over to Tauranga and focus on the caches on the Mount and the new Night Caches and anything else that was nearby.

I love a good night trail, but lately I seem to always seem to be doing them in the wee small hours of the morning just before the sun is up. This trail was nicely set out and we soon found are way to GZ, with a few arrow placements made me go wow how did you get it there. The cache was found without hassle, though we did forget the number in the cache, but after finding the Red night trail cache we remembered and made out way back here to get this number. Thanks for the great trail, a fav point for the effort involved.

07-Mar-17
I hate spiders! Also, this is the second cache this week jammed where the sun don't shine. Weird! I'm not saying it was raining hard but there was a bloke with a beard building a boat and collecting animals. Even in the rain, though, this was a great cache. Real fun, even though I got a bit lost across Walnut Grove. And a bonus of the rain was stream and waterfall in spate. TFTC.

We have found a few night caches in our time but this was one of the most well laid out ones, a great cache at the end of it too. Thank you for a very enjoyable walk and one of our last caches before the trek back home. TFTNC

31-Jan-17
Came to have a look at this one today as I wanted to suss out for the grandies. Darkness at the moment is a bit past the youngest bedtime but I reckon they will enjoy it in the daylight too once the 9 year old gets the cast off his broken leg SmileSmileSmile Excellent cache -loved it and the area -I am sure the kids will love seeing Nana jump SmileSmileSmile TFTC SmileSmileSmile

21-Jan-17
Up from Naki for weekend. TFTC.

19-Jan-17
Yay, another night cache in Tauranga - with the promise of more to come! Exciting - I love night caching. Tonight I dragged the family along and arranged to meet up with the CO. We parked and messaged TNXPro but no reply... that could only mean one thing so I warned the kids there maybe a surprise or two en-route Smile

Very straight forward until we reached an intersection of reflectors.... an executive call to continue with the yellow reflectors was made and it wasn't far until we met up with TNXPro, by means of him jumping onto the tracking scaring everyone into tachycardia. It was smooth sailing after that and an easy wander onto the final. A great first effort and I'll really looking forward to see what you'll come up with next. The way back to the car was spent collecting a false set of reflectors designed to lead us astray..... Cheers Dave, TFTC SmileSmileSmile

We were over this way today so had to wait until dark so we could experience your first night trail. Really well set up Dave kids had no trouble finding all the markers and the final. FP from us just got up from our late night got hone after midnight not like us to stay out this late. Look forward to the others as they come.

11-Jan-17
A plan was hatched to find this cache on Wednesday evening. Mrs Splatty , Mosh the GeoLab and I met up with Toastershoes and two of her boys. We saw the torch light show happening in her car as we approached the quiet culdesac.

Two boys, torches and a wayward mutt all piled out and made their way down the accessway, followed by adults holding coffees.

We followed the path (Mosh and I have been here a few times before) and as we approached what we thought was GZ we set too looking for the cache, according to what we thought the clue meant. I said a few times that this location is not somewhere I would expect a TNX cache to be and 10 minutes of fruitless searching (although Mosh found a bone somewhere in the dark) one of the boys yelled out that there was another yellow arrow.

We had completely overlooked this one and soon were at the REAL GZ. Seeing where the cache could be I encouraged the boys to get it out, but no, I had to man up and reach in....

A well designed and fun cache, thanks Dave. Definitely a favourite point and a must do for those with kids.

As for Mosh, he remembered the water and swimming hole on the way home from past excursions here with his mate Max. I managed to dissuade him from getting in too deep so didn't have a wet lab to take home. Phew.

TFTC not a WOMBAT.

Came here today at daytime with Miss 3. She loved finding the way!! Wanted to suss it out for the older grandies. I know they will love it too. Geez Tnx 2 faves in one day!! Cheers

Well I'm half asleep and in my head I hear binging noises. I realise it's my phone and my buddy janethappy telling me to go, go,go! Lol! I'm so shattered. Been camping last 3 nights. And last night we hiked up to Waitawheta Hut and pitch tent there. Got back today. So was struggling to get motivated. But I love night caches so I decide to go for it. My torch I brought in Nelson a couple weeks ago when I did a night cache there. It's about 5cm long but works brilliantly. It's now part of my kit. I get to starting point to find I am alone. I find what I'm looking for very easily. And start the hunt. Couple times cats made me go off track with their glowing eyes. Lol. I get to the final and make an easy find. And a clean log sheet. Wahoo!! FTF. This is an easy fun night cache. I have totally enjoyed it. And I am looking forward to more. Thanks TNXPro.

Please be patient for the next one in the series. They take a LOT of work setting up...
