Ugh!! one of my least favourite types of caches - usually plenty of rubbish and to make it worse for this one the clearance was very low and covered in rocks. Not good for a tall septagenerian.. I admit my search wasn't as thorough as it might have been but no success. This is one of Ron's caches I won't be visiting again.

Could not find anywhere searched for 2 days

Nice hide. Under there somewhere

A quick and muddy find. The cache is needing a bit of TLC and is beginning to rust shut. The logbook and items within are absolutely destroyed from water, mud and rust.

I cleaned it out as best I could with my shirt, and gave it a new plastic sealing bag and log book.

Container could use some rust repairs and a better dry out.

Popping out from under the bridge we were surprised by an incoming offlead dog. So hared off into the long grass. Good thing it’s not summer but that dude soured the satisfaction a bit.

Fellow dog walking cachers- this is an ON LEAD path. Have respect for other dog owners.

Another clever hide from Ron haha. After a bit of a search I finally found this cache. Trolls plus rocks oooh my favorite???. Great area and so close to So much industry. TFTC.

Back in *the day* (c.1984) we would load our motorbikes onto a tilt tray and come out here from Port Melbourne, on weekends for a ride. Back then there were no concrete paths, guard rails or Platypus Bridges.
We would "ford" the creek to cross to the Western side and back.
As with a few others, I started on the wrong side but eventually I swapped and the cache was soon in hand.
I found what appears to be a retainer first and the cache within seconds.
Upon replacing it I also discovered the pen.
Despite a thorough search, only one cache was found today.
As I made my way back to the path a bloke rode across the bridge on a road bike. Red Face
Thank you for placing this cache and highlighting a wonderful area, Ron.haha
After this cache I went in search of the fabled mint plant and then continued across the rusty bridge to collect another of the C.S.S. Series.
Returning to Barry Rd and I had achieved my daily target of 5+ kms.

Found by David and pprass at 1418. Checking out a few nearby caches after doing the CSS series. So many possibilities here. Searching left and right, up and down in the confined space for several minutes. David was glad he still had his bike helmet on. After a while, Peter spotted a pen, which led him to the cache nearby shortly afterwards. Relieved to be signing the log after that. Our thanks to Ron.haha.

Found at 2:18 PM GAFF3 in the company of maccamob.
Continuing on after finishing the CSS series and this one was a short ride to get to, but then the "fun" started and where do you start to look. Well we eventually bit the bullet and crawled around only to get a bit grubby and David banged his head a few times, but luckily he was still wearing his helmet. After about 15 minutes down there I spotted a pen on the ledge and thought - haha!...there must be a cache nearby and sure enough just a metre away there it was!
That was a tough T of 2.0 for us blokes btw [xx(]
Thanks Ron.haha.

Reasonably quick find. Took note of hint in a previous log. Container had some water in it but still able to sign log. Saw a snake on the path while walking back to the car.

A quick easy find after viewing the burnt out nut factory nearby.

Its been a few weeks since TrailStevo and I have been able to escape out cache, but last night we managed to get out. Im trying to get at least 50 cache per month and here we are just over 1/2 way through June and im on zip! So we looked for a trail and/or area of congestion to rack up a few numbers but we wanted some exercise too. First up was the south side of the CSS series plus a few others along the way. I good variety of hides and some of our favorite (not) hanging in tree hides. After walking about 8km, and back to the car we headed across to nearer Mill Park/Epping for another brisk 7km collecting another handful of cache. I think we totaled around 20 cache, the dog had a ball! In fact the dog had a lie in today and only really seemed to wake up at around 3pm Smile. TFTC atsmug

Well this one had all the trademark qualities of a long search, bridge, wet ground, many hiding places. Imagine our surprise when we found it in about 2 minutes of searching. Actually found 2 logs. Signed them both, to be sure and headed back. TFTC

I have left the finding of this hide till cooler times, in fear of LIVING STICKS, but today was cooler, with moisture coming from above, making for perfect conditions to attempt the find, nice hide here Ron.haha, and the cache is in good condition also, but I am thinking there may be a magnet missing.
Also the TB, is not in cache

21-Apr-18
Yep, it must be under there somewhere alright... I looked everywhere I though it might be and everywhere I thought it wouldn't be, but couldn't find it.

07-Apr-18
Went there today and crossed the bridge looking underneath from on top with no luck, so I braved the grass and rocks to look from under it but had to admit defeat for today.

12-Feb-18
Couldn’t find it, tried looking under the bridge with my partner and the long grass was horrid. I have heard that it recently flooded down there so I’m not sure whether we have just missed it or if the floods have possibly shifted it depending on where it was located. Has the person who placed the cache been down recently to check on it? Wondering if it’s definitely still there?
TIA

11-Feb-18
Well, this one had been unfound for a while but I decided to give it a go anyway. I got under and started searching, and there were lots of places to search. Imagine my surprise when I found it after a few minutes, not far from where the GPS was pointing. Sometimes caching is like that.

05-Jan-18
Had a good look this morning but to no luck, not sure if I didn’t find it or washed away, super muddy down there

28-Aug-17
Went to grab the TBs I placed in here back in March as they hadn't moved on. Sadly they are both missing.......maybe they will turn up so I will leave them as not missing yet!

Looked high, looked low, on all of the railings and under the rocks. Ran out of time so had to call it quits on this one.

07-Jul-17
A late afternoon drive out this way and thought I would check out a couple of the nearby hides. As I carefully picked my way down to GZ here I heard a rustle and thought I must have disturbed a rabbit. A few seconds later a small kangaroo jumped up out of the tall grass just a few metres away from me and bounded straight past me giving both of us a bit of a shock. After I calmed the nerves I maneuvered my way further down and picked a side to start my search on. With no luck there I tried the other wondering just how deep I had to head in. After failing there as well after a pretty thorough search I thought I might have to throw the towel in on this one but tried once more on the initial side and eventually spotted the hide tucked away. Lots of hiding spots here to check through but not in a spot I was expecting. Thanks for the cache Ron.haha.

After a great mornings ride, I went after this one again and found it. A great hide I didn't like the long grass but made a lot of noise and thumped around. Thanks Ron.haha a treat to get it.

Waiting for our caravan to be repaired saw this and came for a walk Found with Helibear60 TFTC

16-Mar-17
Dropping something at a courier nearby and decided to look for this cache as well. No platypus spotted but no snakes either! Will come back one day when I have time to wait and watch for the little creatures......the platypus not the snakes Thanks for bringing me here.

13-Feb-17
We decided to take the geodog for a evening walk and we thought we would try out luck to spot a platypus. At the GZ we climbed around and finally spotted the cache. It wasn't the container we thought it might be. We did a quick wander along the creek and searched but no luck for us tonight, all the platypi must have been sleeping.

thanks Ron.haha for the cache.

I had my eye on a couple of caches in this area, as I work very close, in Campbellfield. The snake factor had been keeping me at bay, so I decided to get up a little early this morning and do some cool-morning caching, to try and reduce the risk of seeing any legless-lizard-looking slitherjerks.

This was the first cache of two i ended up finding. It had me searching for a while, but once i got methodical in my search, it was quickly in hand. No platypuses today, though. TFTC

In the area finding the 3 caches
No platypus's around at this time but still a nice spot
Nothing like going through long grass on a warm day
But a quick find and all is good at GZ TFTC

You got me again Ron.haha, I got as far as I wanted too down under, but got a little worried about crawly things, I'll be back in milder weather.

Find number 5814 at 2:27:15 pm
Finished up the week at work so I went for a few caches on the way home, bit hot though...
No snakes bridge, no platypii either.
It was so hot this afternoon I was more concerned about crawling under to come face to face with a tiger, as it turned out I was face to face with a cache container. Thankfully a nice quick find.
**Thanks for placing this cache Ron.haha**

Whenever I have to walk through long grass on a hot day, I imagine getting bitten by a snake and ringing 000 with GC code and/or description with my dying breath "..I'm at Platypus Bridge..'is that a suburb sir'..no it's a cache it's code is GC6.--- 'hello sir are you there, hello' ...YFWX.." and from that they'll find me !
Well I didn't get bitten although there were a few lizards there and after a long search the cache was found in the last place I looked Wink
I must get a hurry on and publish the nearby caches I've placed before the CO grabs my spots Smile
Thanks Ron for another cache Smile

I have spotted a couple platypi, between this bridge and rocks where another cache hangs about downstream

I noted the publication of this cache... and the fact that it had already been found... while relaxing at the computer after a few hectic days of social engagements (the hardest part is the travel between them, from one end of the State to the other), and decided with two hides in the same part of the Merri Creek, it was worth a visit.

With the rest of the family off visiting, and a nice mild fine day having been dished up by the weather gods, I took my recently repaired mountain bike for a pleasant jaunt through Broadmeadows and Dallas to the southern end of the path through Galada Tamboore and then to this bridge.

Bike chained to the railing, I scouted out the possibilities, coming up empty by doubting where the cache would be, then, after a few gulps of water, dove in for a more comprehensive search... et voila!

3TF... I'm happy with that. Cheers, Ron.haha.

Boy, there sure has been a lot of water trough here in the past couple of days...

2nd to find. great to meet Ausyowie and have a chat with a fellow cacher. Congratulations on your first FTF. thanks Ron.haha. would love to see a platypus this close to home. TFTC

My 1st FTF and on the last day of 2016 too. I woke up today and there was a notification of a new cache. I wrestled with the idea of trying for a FTF, given that it was 40 km away. Oh, what the heck, you only live once. Some quick brekky and a 35 minute drive and I could see gz. This took a little while to locate, but without any muggles about I was able to search methodically and there it was. Thanks for this opportunity.

31-Dec-16
It rained the other day.
76mm in 15 mins. 87mm for the hour.
The neighbour complained about all the water from the bananas back yard that had flowed onto his property. He blamed us...... Are you for real!!!

Well the platypus must be blaming everyone in Craigieburn for their little homes have been also effected by this local weather phenomenon.

And to be honest, the bananas think that all those cute little creatures that did reside under this treasure......

Can now be visited in Port Phillips Bay.
