15/11/2023 2:10:00 PMI spent a full day driving around South West Victoria, hiding a couple of caches visiting a lot of cemeteries and walking a short section of the rail trail near Port Fairy. In all an enjoyable day out. I DNFed this one, or at least did not sign when I found a snake sitting on the cache on my last visit, no reptiles in sight today thankfully. Thanks H_3Find recorded using GCDroid and logged using GSAK

One a day trip from Ballarat and this was my starting point. Found the way in and soon arrived at the cemetery. Once inside and over the general area, I stopped to read the headstone before heading over and finding the cache. Log was signed then it was back to the car and back towards Lismore.

Thanks for showcasing this one H_3....cache all good.

I really wasn't going to let thos cache stump me!!!
While here, have a look around the cemetery and take in some of the names buried here. Multiple OBE, MBE's & Order of Australia recipients and former parliamentarians. Theres even a sprinkling of military medal recipients.
You'll even find the brother and father of a bonifide Australian war hero who had a ridge in Gallipoli named after him and later formed and served as the first national president of the RSL.
And just down the road was the cricket ground I opened the batting for the Darlington under 16s in 1990-91 with a season batting average of 0.89. ( Runners up in the Western Plain Cricket Association... damn you S Slater for dropping that catch early when old mate went on to make 163!!!!

20-Nov-22
The amount of water around made this one a little tricky to get too. Nice hide.

TFTC.

SL at 12:15pm. Road trip with bdiaw heading to the Whittlesea Mega Event for the weekend. Had a lovely walk around the cemetery amongst the dragonflies and mosquitoes. Such an interesting red gum tombstone and well looked after.

*Have a FP because it's in my favourite place to cache!

Such an old grave. This cache took me a little while to find and I lost a pen in the process. Fortunately I had a spare and was able to sign the log. Great spot for a cache.

Well I was now supposed to be on my 6 week adventure up to Outback Queensland but with my knee failing me I just had to turn back around and head home.
So after 3 weeks of rest at home I was getting cabin fever so for the last week I just had to get out so Western Victoria beckoned so I could grab a few LGA’s and UBD Country VIC maps which would not involve a lot of walking.
So after attending the International Geocaching event in Lara yesterday I got up early this morning and off I went.
With all of the recent heavy rain everything is just soaked and you have to be careful not to leave the road or tracks.
Worked out how to get in to here and off I went.
I enjoy going through small country cemeteries as you can sometimes get a feel for the place.
The headstone is in great condition and another place you would just drive past if it wasn’t for geocaching

Thanks H_3 TFTC.

Vinz hss finished his business in nearby Mortlake and is now taking a few detours on his way back to the great metropolis.
Rain and chilly winds seemed a fitting accompaniment to a stroll around a cemetery. Although the hidden artifact here was easily discovered, Vinz still took the time to visit with some of the older residents at rest.

Find #5221. Found @ 15:04 with The Good Lady Wife, skirrel, j-bean.

On a holiday getaway multi-day road trip with the family, traveling from Melbourne to Adelaide via Renmark and back to Melbourne. The Renmark to Adelaide trip today, and one that was originally going to lighter on for caching, but we combined some getting larges with skirrel getting some learner hours.

Today was the long drive from Mount Gambier back to Melbourne. Another stop to stretch our legs, but beforehand we had to open a gate and cross a cattle grid... I wasn't sure that we were permitted to do so, until I saw the place we were going to.

We startled a sheep who was grazing nearby and she gave us the suspicious side-eye all the time we were in the area.

Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache H_3

Left Melbourne for WARNAMBOOL after work yesterday. Arrived early evening, a quick bite to eat and off for a walk. Covered 8km and collected a few local cache. Quick pint and off to bed. Up early Saturday to do Parkrun, breaky and cache our way back to Melbourne. Was a fun little escape, ticking lots of boxes. Thanks for the fun.

A great bit of history in a little known but iconic location, found and signed the logsheet and sat and enjoyed the views. It’s good to see the local pub back up and trading once again.

Thanks to CO’s for taking time to set out and maintain hides and for showing us your very special part of the world

**Found en route home after visiting family in Warrnambool**

Chasing a few caches for the 'Reach the Peak' souvenir. Ironically, this month is Everest. I climbed to Everest base camp *many many* years ago on my first ever overseas holiday - 7 weeks and **best holiday** I've ever had Cool

Lovin' life, coffees and caches, waymarks and photos, taking the roads less traveled. Does it get any better than traveling this great land of ours? A nice straight forward find here. The log was stamped and replaced as found.

Nice history. Really enjoy cemetery caches. Thanks for the cache H_3. Appreciate your efforts. Big Grin

*Took*: Nothing

**Warning**, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to learning new things and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Big Grin

Cache on! Cool

On the way home from visiting family in Warrnambool. Taking the scenic trip back and grabbing a few hides along the way. It was some warm humid weather but we found some great hides and many different types, along the way.

Enjoyed stopping off here, getting some local history and making a quick find.

Thanks H_3 for placing the cache and doing the maintenance, so we can enjoy the find.

Just about at my furtherst travels west today.

Took a little while to find the cemetery entrance.

Nearly tempted for a pot in the good looking pub across the road.

A young couple were paying respects to a family member.

Lucky for me it was at the other side of the cemetery.

A quick search and i was signing the log.

Found . The South West Tour. We had planned a longer stay but a few things got in the way so it’s Saturday to Monday. The caching aim was to get some higher D/T ratings and get our average for both above 1.75. Thanks to others for the help finding "the stump". All in good condition. TFTC

Mr Morris has a few weeks off but with border restrictions we thought we'd do a slow lap of Victoria while we had some good weather.

We are now camping at a lake near Cobden and after setting up yesterday and exploring Timboon today we headed to Camperdown and Terang for a look about.

Another interesting piece of history in a very pretty location. GZ had us a bit cloder to the headstone but Mr Morris took some time to smell the roses.

Cowgirl_101 and I headed out to Darlington today to grab this cache and a few more in the area. Very interesting location and some really old graves. The pub across the creek I think deserves a stop one day. John Miles certainly had an industrious life and his unique grave stone(wood) certainly suits the circumstances. Thanks for another great cache H_3 all in good condition.

Visiting cemeteries in winter is always a gamble but today was worth it. As cold and windy as what it is, it isn’t raining, not yet anyway. I am glad that the headstone has been well supported. And I agree, the gates are awesome! There are so many interesting things to look at in this little cemetery and I spent quite some time here. The cache was not in the first place I thought it would be, but it didn’t take long to work out where it was. TFTC

Another lockdown pending... insert venting frustrated comments here... so I had to cancel a long planned trip. I also needed to return with geopartner to Mortlake and made the most of it with a few finds along the way.

A more thorough search this time and found the cache with a nicely matched hint.

Thanks to H_3 for the placement and fun.

Difficult to find but worth it

10-Mar-20
We stopped to look for this cache as we drove from Geelong to Mount Gambier. The first step was a real challenge. We struggled to find a way to access GZ. We tried one way but were blocked by a creek. We had given up and were starting to head off to Mortlake. As we left, we saw a sign pointing to the cemetery and speedway. We followed that road and were able to park within 30m of GZ. Accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. the cache and contents were in good condition. We then spent a few minutes looking around tis very interesting cemetery. Thanks H_3 for an enjoyable cache.
