12:28FITW ObnoxiousSpaceCatTook a moment to spot the rail. It was oriented in a direction train tracks don't usually go We almost went into the burn pit in the beginning! Kia ora! Paldies! Thanks for the cache, BrownscacheDiversBCD!#11358
Out for a bike ride. Short ride, cache, then off again. Parked at the river and rode until decided it was lunch time and that was turnaround time.
Today I drove from Dunsandel to Geraldine on a bit of a road trip south to visit a friend. I stopped here to see how many of these caches I could get to and find on foot in the time I allowed myself. The weather was perfect for the walk and I managed to find most of the caches I looked for without too much difficulty. Apologies for the cut and paste logs but if anything stood out for a particular cache, I'll try to remember it here. TFTC, Biggles.
Firstly, I have to apologise for giving credit to 1066 for the caches we have found along this trail today. A function of cut and paste logs I'm afraid. All previous instances have been edited with the correct information.
Found with NZDi. We are walking the cycle track from Burdon Road to the Orari River bridge picking up caches along the way. We won't get all the caches I'm sure and will log DNFs as they occur. That won't be to say that they are missing, just hat after a reasonable search, we could not find them. I will try to make relevant comment on each find, but this is a power trail after all and when doing these, one find blends into another, so apologies for the cut and paste format of my logs. This was our ninth find of the day and as I was under the impression these caches were placed in the opposite direction to which we were doing them, I initially looked on this side of the rail to search for the cache. Not finding it, I searched in accordance with the hint and had success.
It is Easter weekend and it is time to cross off one of the things on our bucket list, which is to visit the Peel Forest area. We headed south from Blenheim on Thursday and overnighted in Rangiora in order to break up the trip. That was an uninspiring place to cache with a miserable strike rate. We then travelled t the Peel Forest DOC camp yesterday and did the Kahikatea Walk and Fern Tracks. Today's mission is to walk the Orari River Cycle Track from Burdon Road to the Orari River Bridge. Tomorrow we will do the track from the bridge to Taylor Road.
Our logs are in full where space allows, but when an abridged version is required we shorten it to KM + ND for Kiwimykl and NZDi.

School holidays and a lovely warm (albeit a bit too muggy) i decided to drag the child and dogs out for a walk somewhere new. We have previously biked the track further downstream with plenty of cache success. On it before we realised it. Nice place to stop for a break under the trees before we headed back. Tftc
This was an interesting bike ride, with the autumn leaves covering the track much of the time, making it harder to know what's underneath.
But it's a beautiful day today, and with it being a weekday, there was no muggles around.
Thanks for putting this trail here.

Walking the Orari Riverside track between Orari Bridge and Burdon's Road collecting caches along the way. Found with hint coordinates a bit out for me? TFTC
Found with farmerkeith waitangi weekend. Decided to walk part of the gmbt. Title and description helped.
*Another good find going from cache to cache with woolwood9.*

Great weekend caching with Hinemoana. We waited for the rain to stop, but quite wet underfoot.
A crazy caching weekend with KiwiGS! We picked this area because on the map it looked like a lot of easy caches. After lunch we went for the trail, and although it was not really 'mountain', it was rather overgrown and not maintained in many places, not quite the easy stroll we expected from the cache ratings and the online info about the trail, and we did not quite get as far with it as expected. We managed two of the three 'legs'. TFTC!!
Time for a bike ride today so we started at the Burdon Rd end of the track and headed off to see what we could get done. A nice quick find here. tftc
#16750. We've found a few of this type over the last couple of hides; they are quick to find! TFTC.
After a cup of coffee, and buying some lunch supplies, it was time to check out of our accommodation and continue the GMTB series north of the Orari bridge. Track ranged from an easy and pleasant ride on pine needles through trees to some pretty rough terrain, where both my hands were needed on the handlebars to control the bike (which made navigating a bit tricky).
Overshot as didn't spot the rail until I stopped. No worries with finding the cache after that. TFTC.

JDScout and I decided to go Geraldine for the weekend and attend the event in the evening. We brought along our bikes so we could go cache cycling along the track.

Even managed to keep dry and do just what the hint ordered. Recognised the container. Yes we were in the correct place. Thanks.
Made use of the day off for a days caching around Orari and Geraldine. Started off in a light drizzle and headed North west with the plan of biking to Burdons Rd (The exercise), and cache on the return (the fun). Track was a bit hard going in places due to the loose gravel and was pretty stuffed b the time Burdons Road was reached. Sorry about the cut and paste but thanks for the series.

Phase one of the cycle leg of the caching trip to South Canterbury. Starting at Burdon Rd down the trail to the river and then bike back up Tripp Settlement Rd. Lovely day and really nice place to spend it - lots of cool caches too. Thanks.
Great day out caching in the area, lot of neat caches, and lots of walking. Many Thanks Bitsprayer
Out on this section of the trail this morning with Bitsprayer, cache soon located and signed after a bit of scratching around. TFTC
Day 10 - of our (The Seagnoid, Toby, Zara, & myself) epic adventure - leaving Geraldine for Hanmer today, heading homewards. With 3/4 of the Geraldine cycle trail completed yesterday, we just cant leave without completing it. So lets get going - back on Jill today.
Another one tagged. Cheers

Taybeedragon and I are cycling the trail and enjoying every minute of it. The weather gods turned on a nice day - an excellent day prior to the rigours of heading home after a week's geofesting in Oamaru.
Coords were a bit off but the hint and the title make it clear where to look. It still took a few minutes before the little container was spotted,
Decided to have a day out. Found we are spoilt by the tracks for the A2O, my poor old bike is not designed for these looser rougher tracks, but we persevered and managed this top bit of the route. Weather ideal, not too hot and no wind. TFTC
Back in Geraldine to some more of the GMBT caches. Only one place this cache could be. Nice quick find.
Another quick find on the trail, Cheers
A leave pass from Ms KR and Ms KM. Where do we go? Packed up bikes and bike >40k on the GMBT. Slightly stuffed at the end, but found most that we looked for, and a had a great day.
Thanks to the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

The leave passes for Karma Reprint and myself matched up, so onto our bikes to attempt to clean up the series in one day. 42km and 12ish hours later it's mostly done. First leg is the northern section in the drizzle. Nice and obvious, cheers
Last one I will save the other 3 as these are my closest caches to home and just never know when I might need a couple to fill in dot days or something. Tftc
Headed out with TG for a Mad Mission, was in need of an adventure. We had planned to head out this way to score some possible FTFs as there were nine still unlogged. We loaded up the bikes and headed into the setting sun on this lovely summer's evening. It took us an hour and forty odd mins to get to Burdon Road. We thought we'd check to see if the FTF was still available at the first one on the track. We were gutted that it had been found two days ago! We thought we get a lay of the land at the nearby cache on the riverbed. We were scored a FTF there! So we parked back up at the MTB track and proceeded down the river. We scored 16 caches and a handful of FTFs to boot. We biked 8kms or so and drove 305kms and got home at 12.30am. Great fun!
After scoring a few FTFs and it wasn't 10pm yet we decided to head down further and grab a few more caches. The random bits of rail line are all over the place. Sun getting low now and lights are on. We found a wee muggle hedgehog too.
Thanks for the cache BrownscacheDiversBCD.

Mad Monday Night Mission with TheWanglers. Earlier in the day we noticed that there were still 9 unlogged caches on this end of the trail.......what better destination we asked ourselves?! Loaded up bikes & lights and headed off into the evening. A fun night; 305km driven, 8km biked, a handful of caches including 4 FTFs. NICE!
Following these caches in reverse order hoping for a few FTFS on some as yet unlogged ones....bike lights on and only time for a few more caches before needing to turn & head back to the car & then home. Fun as. Arriving at GZ I had to swerve around Mr Hedgehog - just about cooked his bacon. TW took a photo op whilst I walked in circles trying to find GZ.....Nice one!

Great day for a bike ride and a new track and a good Number of finds . Perfect. TFTC
Did a bike ride whilst camping at Grumpy's. Supposed to be an easy day but ended up 55km Included all of the Geraldine MB Trail and a trip to Orari Gorge. Could have picked up many more as we passed more than we stopped at. Would be nice to complete the GMBT sometime. TFTC
Since I had the day off and felt in need of some exercise I chucked the bike in the car and set off. Cache was and easy find and was great to see a lovely clean log! TFTC!
