The trail is under maintenance and a new boardwalk is being constructed. Am temporarily disabling this until the walkway is completed sometime in December.
Over in Tauranga for the day walking and geocaching. I completed two of this series a couple of months ago so today is the day for the other two and the bonus. Were not here at night so even though these are night caches, we are happily completing them during the day. I ran into a problem with this one because the track is barricaded partway down with the entry barred. I messaged the CO and he was very helpful so I was able to retrieve the cache from the other end. Loved the container - a favourite from me - great trail,TFTC
Am staying in the area for the week and NZIceman has come down for a few days too. Armed with our torches we hit the trail. Completed the silver one first and this was next on the list....Very nice large reflectors - easy to follow and we soon had the cache in hand. Thanks for the fun!
Back for round two with Kiwi Does Stuff! Big thanks to tnxPro for setting up these series of night caches, after struggling with another one on the way into Tauranga we thought we outta finish this series to feel better about our caching abilities. A new area of Tauranga has been discovered and ticked off the board, made quick work of this one once wed found the first marker (first couple are faded to silver) but was apparent which way to go, made it to GZ for a quick find and tagged the last number off for the multi bonus! Another FP & TFTC!
After the incident a few weeks back, we had been reluctant to return to the area for night caches, but the lure of these was just too much to ignore. The first couple of reflectors made need replacing, as it would appear UV has dulled their redness, but we soon were following onto what we discovered to be a familiar path as we had used it to exit after a couple of the previous ones. If only we turned backwards while doing so haha.Anyway a lovely evening for a walk, and cache was soon located. Now onto the bonus.
Over the Hill again today. These one were first on our listNot been here beforeAwesome walk around the park Got a bit lost on this one but went back to the last markThanks to the CO for amazing seriesAlso very well kept
Over with ABCDF4 and eyespyben. These caches were the focus for the day. Enjoyed the walk around walk around the park following well located signs. Not been in the area so thought highly of the park.Lost the trail on this one a couple of times but some back tracking soon had us on our way again. Thank you for the placement.
Nice night out with nz kites fun walk around the park in the dark thanks for the cache.
With rustynz and rebel98, plus nzkites out searching for a night cache, did not get too wet Thanks for the hide, our first for this trip to Tauranga
We responded to a message from Rebel98 asking if any locals were interested in joining them for some night caching in Tauranga over the next few days, and as we hadnt previously done any of this series, we were keen to give it a go. Coincidentally we were staying in our motorhome at Waipuna Park for a couple of nights. After meeting with Rebel98, rustynz and littleblackbird1 at the park entrance we looked for the first red tag without success, so a call was made to the CO who pointed us in the right direction to the start of the trail. After that it was straightforward until we arrived at GZ and misread the instructions, looking on the wrong side of the track initially. Once on the right side, rustynz made a quick find. We all admired the container, signed the log and noted the code for the bonus. Some of the party were keen to continue and find another of the series, but the light rain was starting to become heavier so we all decided to call it a night and head home. Thanks to Rebel98 and family for inviting us, and for your friendliness and patience, and thanks to TNXPro for a great night cache. A fave from us and we look forward to completing the series!
With rebel98 and littleblackbird1 attempting a BOP nightcache with nzkites Once we found the first arrow, we marched on into the night, finding red arrows, pointing the way to the final. At the final found ourselves on the wrong side of the track, not the CO fault, just missed an important detail.Loved the hide, and we remembered to take note of the code for the bonus.Sadly only one trail tonight, it stared to pour, with no jackets or umbrellas the decision was made to walk back to the car, hoping tomorrow night will be a winner. Thanks tnxpro for the hide, and ongoing maintenance, we appreciate all the hard work that goes into creating these types of hides.
Between 28 and 31st January we will be spending some time in Tauranga and hope to attempt this Wherigo If another cacher wants to join us in finding this one, please contact via message service or email so we can arrange to meet at GZ.
Maintenance run. NOTE. Due to a large slip taking out the original trail. I have diverted this trail a different way, so if youve done this before, be expected to visit a different trail. It does bring you back to the original circuit and final cache is in the same place.
This is a catch-up log since I just realised we hadn't logged these during our trip to Tauranga. Had good fun following the reflectors. When we came to GZ, one of us almost came a cropper on some steps we didn't need to explore. Loved the container. TFTC + FP for the fun we had exploring the park in the dark!
We came across this one accidentally while following the sliver trail and decided why not do both!
It was a lot of fun following this trail and when we got to the spot it didn’t take us long to find at all!
We copied down the code and are super excited to complete all the colours️

We parked up here so we could do these night caches.
The tracks here go all over the place, but the reflectors are really easy to spot which is great.
I wasn't quite sure I had the right final but the find turned out to be super straightforward, so happy to tick the first one off.
Thanks for setting this up.

Maintenance run done. A few reflectors added and replaced. Stump has disintegrated, so please cover up well until I can find a suitable replacement to hide cache.
Wow this mystery cache was one of my favourites. We went for a night walk with friends and saw a possum. Walking in the night was scary but a great experience. I can’t wait to do more of this series. I Could only do one that night but I will be back. Thanks for the cache and keeping up the maintenance
Wow, that was some cache, took us longer than we expected doing it in the dark from about 8:20 to about 9:00 (return journey)
Did it with two other families and throughly enjoyed it.
Thanks for this great and well thought out cache.( it’s good to keep caching interesting)
Fav point for this one

Yay my first night cache with my family..Enjoyed the nice cool night walk..Track is awesome..TFTC
This was definitely the big one. So many turns but the placement of the markers was great. I wasn’t sure I would be able to remember how to get back to the car.
Eventually reached the the final spot and waited for the coast to clear before going in.
Awesome trail, now for the bonus.

I took Ms M out on a pre daylight saving night caching expedition. As it was, any night would have done as the rugby needed to be watched first.
Trail # 3. Our last trail as it was well after 10 o’clock by now. We got lucky by picking it up when we over ran the silver final and felt even luckier when it took us back towards the car. The find gets me over the line on one of the GLSC challenge caches. Yay. We hope to return later in the week to collect the yellow brick trail and the bonus.
Thanks for an enjoyable night time escapade. TFTC

We have been meaning to do the night trails for a long time now, and this weekend we came up with a plan. We’re not Owls, but are early morning Larks. So, if one of us woke up early, we were going to drive out to Welcome Bay well before dawn. Our plan worked a treat.... first on our hit list was the Yellow trail. Then the Silver, and by then we were really getting into the swing of things. So much so, that we spied a nearby Red tag just as we were nearing completion of the Silver; which saved us a little walking.
Back to the car we went, and by this time it was nearing day-break and the sky was getting lighter. But luckily it was overcast and the light was still dim, so we decided to quickly continue with the Green Trail.
We remembered to collect all the code numbers collected along the way, and the Bonus cache was a straight forward find after the 4 night trails.
We had a lovely time – misty rain combined with darkness meant we had the trails all to ourselves, and just near the end of the last trail we encountered a couple and their dog – the only muggles we came across during the course of our (very) early morning adventure. Things couldn’t have worked out better. We highly recommend the trails, well set up, and a lot of fun. Thank you TNXPro.

Grabbed the traditional while we were at this end and cut into the red one as we went. Still a decent walk and got us close-ish to where we parked, so worked out well. These night caches are bloody awesome, thanks for setting these up!
This is the best multi ever! Such a beautiful walk in a lovely park. Thank you so much for the effort that you’ve put into this. Awesome family outing, we hooked in another family into geocaching because of your hunt
Kids loving this series thank you. Thanks for making our special reserve even more magical
Found during our North Island Road trip. We enjoy doing night caches, we dound this series and thought we would give them a go so we started off and thought we would see how many we could get done. This was the 1st.
We'd never taken our girls, 10 and 6, night caching, so tonight we had a secret mission! We had to find the 'treasure' and leave our secret code (our username) to help the secret agents! The walk was long, but the girls were determined, always excited when they caught a glimpse of a red marker. We did very well, getting out of there with only 1 grazed knee out of 8! Shortly after signing the cache, Mr Taylana pretended we'd been compromised, so he sent Mrs Taylana and the girls to the nearest road while he ran back to the car and drove over to pick everyone up and escape the baddies who were on his tail. All in all, lots of fun, and a wonderful memory was created tonight. TFTC
Due to Covid19, and to encourage people to "stay the fuck at home" to prevent spreading the virus, I am joining others in temporarily disabling my caches.

A enjoyable walk in the bush at night with a few 4 legged friends playing around in the trees, one had its baby on its back. TFTC
Had been very keen to do this series of night caches since I noticed them while doing a Trad in the park.
My Auckland Caching mates had already done them....and couldn't seem to interest any other caching mates out this way.
Then I heard willbuild was keen to do them so we planned to meet up and make a start!
Managed 3 before we were a bit too tired after a full day of 13 hours caching.
Will be back!
Very well done thanks TNXPro.
Very do-able and will return next holidays with my elder grandkids!
Was startled at one point by possum family!

We started this series a couple of years ago when down in Tauranga with Tinytree and friend. We managed to get 2 of the caches and made our way to the end of this one but just couldn't find the cache for some reason. The girls were tired and being bitten by mosquitoes so had to call it a day before finding it.
This weekend on the way to the accommodation we called back for another enjoyable walk around the park and went straight to the final. No problems this time, picked it up straight away. Nice cache although the attached slug seemed rather disappointed in not getting a meal. TFTC.

These caches were so much fun - I must take the grandkids back one day when they are a bit older and let them enjoy the fun. I certainly fulfilled my exercise quota for the day. Thanks for the exercise and the cache. Well worth a favourite point.

Cache has been replaced and move a bit further down the track. If you have been here before, look out for the moved double reflectors showing you the final direction and the updated hint.
On a maintenance run today. Several of these caches have been muggled, including this one. The container is currently missing, so I will try find a suitable replacement as soon as I can.
Great little trail. Our first multi cache/mystery cache. We didn’t do it in the dark as we found the first marker accidentally while we were out looking for another cache nearby and decided to go for it but will save the other in the series for a nighttime. Thanks for going to all the effort to put the trail together and introducing us to Johnson’s Reserve at last
An after dinner question of "are there any night caches in Tauranga?' was all it took to entice us out the door with our guest renelm from Denmark. We hadn't checked if there was any specific order to follow before heading out so this one was the second of the series that we attempted. This one was a slightly longer trail than the first but with 3 pairs of eyes and an array of night caching equipment we had very little trouble tracking down the well themed final hide TFTC.
I'm staying at Casa Rosmar for a few days,. and after a relatively bleak day of caching, I had the clever idea of asking if there was any nightcaches in the area..
Well.. there were these 3 + a bonus.. So off to Welcome Bay after dinner.
This was the 2nd one. Again, it was easy following the path, but a somewhat longer walk.. fortunately the walk back to the car wasnt that long.. especually as we walked over and found the while one first instead of moving the car around.
Found at 21:03 - #8611 - on a 5 week trip in New Zealand - with rosmar

Yay my second ever find on my own account. Out today with my Nan, (Mc Jandals), who is showing me everything about geocaching. This is a lot of fun. Container was fun to find. Thank You for placing this here.
Hi there TNXPRO, out and about today trying to qualify for show me the ropes challenge, so have been teaching my grandaughter (McBella) all about geocaching. She was excited to find this, all good here and nice and dry, cheers.
Headed to Tauranga for a long weekend of caching with Merlot58 and Jag50. We started following the silver route, but ended up missing the final mark and located the start of this instead. Decided to follow the red route, and return after to re-trace our steps on the silver route. Took a little searching to locate this one. Love the well themed cache.
On hearing the name of this one MrJag50 started humming "Burning down the House". Just weird how this mans mind works. We were trying to find the silver lining but missed the mark and ended up on a flaming trail. Continued that path and admired the rain drop reflections captured in the mesh on the boardwalk. At the end of the trail we collectively looked in the obvious and then less obvious places. At this point MrJag50 who did not have a torch borrowed one, went straight to the obvious place and immediately spotted the source of everyone's frustration.
We were trying to find the silver lining but somehow ended up torching the place instead! As we were already on this trail we continued on and luckily we never came across the evil troll who is rumoured to live under the boardwalk. That would have been scary! The boardwalk looked like it had glow worms as the drops left by the afternoon's rain glistened under the light of our torches, it was quite beautiful. At the end of the trail we managed to miss the cache on our first look, but thankfully Mr Jag checked where we had already looked and found the cache.
While following the green trail, by accident spotted the double red sign, and thanks to the helpful hint, got the cache in hand. So only one set of co-ords to find. Such a great idea, thanks for the fun and adventure.
Actually we found this one on the 10th, but it got too dark then to finish the last cache, so we left it until the next opportunity to do the final find - which is the 18th. Very glad we had good torches. Great camo. Dodging the raindrops now. TFTC
Did this one first with the plan of doing all the caches in this series tonight. Nice and simple to follow. Loved the hint and cache. TFTC
Not a big fan of the dark... I've obviously watched too much CSI for my own good! Daughter (khonig) talked me into doing some night caches and we took along Grandma too. We started with this cache and actually managed to do all four caches as well as the bonus tonight... or was it this morning? Love this one and totally fits in with the red theme.
Ended up being a great evening for a walk. Thought the weather wasn't going to play the game but ended up nice. Quick easy find, TFTC
After Bennett24's DNF today I thought I'd better go check it out. After all, Max needed a walk today and that was our route.
There has been some general tidying and replanting going on in the area, but cache is exactly where it should be with a few layers of leaf fall on top. I will update the hint to be more specific, so to avoid trampling the new growth.

Thanks for checking this one so quickly. We will be back hopefully sooner rather than later and this time without 2 tired and cranky kids in tow! Looking forward to completing the series
After completing 2 other caches in this series we followed the red trail to the double arrows as mentioned. Proceeded to search the area with 4 sets of eyes but nothing found. There has been a recent removal of a tree and a series of white stakes have been installed at GZ. Looks like this one needs to be checked.
9.15am - Good trail to the double arrows then the search began. Seemed to take ages to find then the Squirrel located, sure I had searched here before. Great cache. SLTFTC
With Gap (of Fap and Gap) and nerweed... We are on a mission to complete a few challenges, and to do a general cache tidy up of the landscape...
This was our first stop after meeting at Gap’s. This is the first of this series of night caches we have attempted in daylight. But desperate times call for desperate measures... We need the D/T rating of this hide!
The adventure unfolded beautifully. We weaved our way across the interior of Waipuna Park. Before long, we arrived at the final. Our caching mojo failed us here, and we spent more than the alloted time searching.
An SOS call was put out to our help-desk. But, as is usually the case; the cunning hide was found mid call. Another well placed cache! We hope to see more of these amazing trails some day (wink, wink)... TFTP and TFTC.

After getting a couple of these night caches the other day I decided to get the others today. Followed the well defined track and the cache was soon in hand. All in order. TFTC
Apologies to the CO. Temp log to allow TB management. Will return and replace this text with a more appropriate entry shortly.
Well after a fantastic Sunday caching over here with Kiwis69 and HKCB what else is there to do after a day at work but to drive over and cache till midnight! Nothing better to be doing on a Monday night, sleep is for the weak (or for the weekend?) Redbull for brekkie on tuesday morning to make sure I was bright eyed for work after a few hrs sleep
It was rainy in Hamilton, foggy on the Kaimais and then a lovely mild evening in Tauranga. Logs were signed as HK1 to save room.
I led the way to this one and enjoyed the nice walk on the well formed trails. Soon spotted where we needed to be for the last bit and soon had the cache in hand. Another novel container. Thanks for the hide and one more number grabbed.

Had a great time with 11hpg11 & HKCB around Tauranga yesterday but ran out of time to find our full wish-list of caches. We hatched a plan to return for a night caching extravaganza this coming weekend but, long story short, plans changed & tonight was the night! Logs were signed as HK1 to save room.
Reason #57 to cache with friends: getting to do fab night caches like this! 11hpg11 led the way on this one. I resigned myself to being a follower, having realised I own what must be the world's worst torch. Still, always good to find reasons for new gear! Again, the final revealed itself without too much trouble, love the themed container too, great fun, TFTC

2 down. 2 to go. A nice walk round. Get to gz with torches flashing about the place we set off a dog. Ooops. My daughter made a quick find fortunately enough. Lol I like this one. Goes quite well. Check my phone to see if anyone might be taking up the chase by now and notice the new log that we may have company soon. Now the mad dash to retrieve the code in the yellow begins. Wishing by now I had got it last time I was here. Lol. Anyway great cache and another fav. Tftc
Dragged McJandals around the park to find this one after "Silver lining" she was keen to take a short cut but I insisted we walk right to the beginning. I traced my way to double arrow which actually wasn't too far from where we found previous cache.
Very novel container.
Cheers

Well, having finished the silver one, I decided to do the red one again. So much easier with a good torch rather than a wind-up with a broken handle! I really appreciate how much effort goes into these caches. TFTC.
Have been meaning to do this for ages. Came the other day with all good intentions of doing after my grandsons cross country race, but ended up getting side tracked with a new mystery. Today was the day, another beautiful winters day to be strolling around, nicely set up TP, love the container, a fave for the effort put into setting these up. Cheers (ps, I def think it would be better in the dark, will be back with grandies one day)
Headed into the night with 2horses and Sabre2th along a well marked path under torch light .... this was our companions first night cache and having been in this area a few days before we felt we had got to know this park quite well....
The rain kindly stayed away for the journey.
A good cache for the kids to partake in for a night time activity....

Wow - a convoluted walk in, With the added benefit of seeing the fish under the walkways. Have never seen them during the day. The track is so well marked, and would be easily followed by the kids. Huge amount of effort gone into this cache, which is much appreciated
We had no trouble following the Yellow trail in daylight, so decided to try our luck with the Red. Time was marching on, and we figured it would be dark soon anyway. Picked up the trail, and followed it easily for a fair distance, At one point after not spotting a marker for a while we retraced our steps to the last one before setting off again. It was almost dark by the time we reached the double arrows. We were correct in our asumption of what we should be looking for here, but wrong in where we would find it. After checking all the wrong places we tried somewhere else that proved right. After signing the log we made our way back out, and were pleased when we came to a diverging path that looked like it could be a shortcut back to the van - and yes, it saved a fair bit of walking in the dark. We had already noticed that we could overnight our self-contained camper here, so did just that. Especially handy when we realised we had forgoten to get the bonus number from the cache, so had to make a return visit for it the next day. Thanks for another nicely set up trail Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Two of the kids and I spent the day caching in Tauranga we managed a FTF at Mc Claren falls and then we had a bit of time spare before it was dark enough for this night cache so messaged CO for a good fish n chips shop and he suggested we come up to his house to eat .
Once dinner was done we set of to the night cache CO and Max followed in their car . Once we had parked the car it was up to the kids to lead the way they really enjoyed this night trail and lucky for us Donald wasn't under the boardwalk only little fish that the kids were excited about seeing. A really well set up trail TNXPRO and I'm sure you enjoyed watching the excitement of the kids following the trail. Look forward to the next one FP from us. Oh and thanks for reminding me I hadn't logged the cache .

Had the three grandkids and decided to go for a walk to keep them busy. Thought the day might be better as too hard to organise at night especially with Mr 3. The boys found the first one and were off, loved it when we got into the bush and had a ball on the boardwalk, spotting big and little fish beside it. Leaning right down until I thought I might have to go for a swim to pull the little one out. Got near the GZ but somehow my front runners missed the double and we were on green before I knew it we were looking in the wrong spot. Then my helpers were getting restless and decided we needed a nudge - then after a second backtrack we were on the trail again and soon found something that all kids love. Great fun and well set up and looking forward to more - and I may have to revisit to check the bonus number as we were starting to argue who was opening the cache and I forgot to check TFTC
This looks like heaps of fun for young ones, so we're saving it for when our grandsons are next in Tauranga.
I'ts been a while and as other plans had been disrupted due to rain it was time to catch up on all those logs, this being but one of about 250 of them.
Another trip in the company of HKCB and we were over this way after having to change our previous plans for a big days tramping so better to be close to town clearing out a few we hadn't got before. Working through the caches around Welcome Bay so that another clear spot appears on the map. Must say we are enjoying the darness in the morning so that we can get into the area while others are still asleep
The lure of a night cache is always a priority for us and not to be sneezed at so as this was the first of the day, and it was still dark we were up for the challenge.
Again another night cache and another sucessful foray into the depths of the jungle that is Welcome Bay, Ahhh a number therefore we must go back to the first cache to see what we had missed
Thanks for the cache thanks for the placement

Another weekend mission with C&D, we initially had a plan to go hiking in Kauaeranga Valley, but the road had been washed out and access was by foot only, and both of us didn't feel like added 10km to a 20km hike. So plan B was to head over to Tauranga and focus on the caches on the Mount and the new Night Caches and anything else that was nearby.
I love a good night trail, but lately I seem to always seem to be doing them in the wee small hours of the morning just before the sun is up. After a car relocation from the start of the yellow trail we started following the red arrows. Again like the yellow the trail was well laid out and the cache easily found once at GZ. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

This was absolutely so much fun, especially with a three year old in tow. We arrived late afternoon and Noidnz soon got the gist and was off. He had a ball and moved on at a great pace. The markers stood out really well and plenty of them. Cache found and signed then the much slower walk back to the car. Thanks for the huge effort in setting up these caches TNXPro. Looking forward to some more.
Have been wanting to do this for a while but seemed to run out of time at night ...decided to give it a go in day light....it was so much fun as we are looking after grandie this was the easiest hour and a half baby sitting I have ever done Noidnz soon figured out what to do and was off like a shot he was spotting the trail marks from quite a way off ......at the given spot the well developed fruit was quickly discovered ....thanks TNXpro for the interesting cache and effort put into constructing it and guess there must be a few more coming ....hope so
Had a cousin stopping over when this one was published so figured I'd try and introduce someone else into geocaching. Packed up everyone and away we went. A slow start to pick up the trail but it all happens pretty fast once you find that first marker. Down on the boardwalk I spotted a headlamp in the distance knowing full well there's only one reason you'd be down here at this time... Good to catch up tryfyn.
A good set up again TNXPro, no red herrings here
