12:47FITW ObnoxiousSpaceCatWe replaced this one at GZ next to a bigger river rock. Wasn't quite sure which one is the plum tree.Kia ora! Paldies! Thanks for the cache, BrownscacheDiversBCD!#11361
Enjoying a sunny, yet getting somewhat chillier Saturday afternoon out e-caching. Not a quick find
Again GPS sent us in opposite direction. Persisted. TFTC

Wow. Didn't think we'd find that. Description a little helpful, but still wasn't on the spot. Still a find is a find.
Found with NZDi. We are walking the cycle track from Burdon Road to the Orari River bridge picking up caches along the way. We won't get all the caches I'm sure and will log DNFs as they occur. That won't be to say that they are missing, just hat after a reasonable search, we could not find them. I will try to make relevant comment on each find, but this is a power trail after all and when doing these, one find blends into another, so apologies for the cut and paste format of my logs. This was our second DNF of the day, given there is a previous DNF it might be time for some CO intervention.
It is Easter weekend and it is time to cross off one of the things on our bucket list, which is to visit the Peel Forest area. We headed south from Blenheim on Thursday and overnighted in Rangiora in order to break up the trip. That was an uninspiring place to cache with a miserable strike rate. We then travelled t the Peel Forest DOC camp yesterday and did the Kahikatea Walk and Fern Tracks. Today's mission is to walk the Orari River Cycle Track from Burdon Road to the Orari River Bridge. Tomorrow we will do the track from the bridge to Taylor Road.
Our logs are in full where space allows, but when an abridged version is required we shorten it to KM + ND for Kiwimykl and NZDi.

I might’ve found this one but there was a low of litter around so I wasn't sure if anything I found was the geocache or not. I have cleaned all the litter I found.
School holidays and a lovely warm (albeit a bit too muggy) i decided to drag the child and dogs out for a walk somewhere new. We have previously biked the track further downstream with plenty of cache success. This was tricky, but after a re-read of the description and being too focussed on the wrong thing, the first time past. Got it going back the other way - easy as! Tftc
This was an interesting bike ride, with the autumn leaves covering the track much of the time, making it harder to know what's underneath.
But it's a beautiful day today, and with it being a weekday, there was no muggles around.
Gps had me looking on the wrong side for a while.
Thanks for putting this trail here.

Walking the Orari Riverside track between Orari Bridge and Burdon's Road collecting caches along the way; TFTC
Logging back at the cabin as I had to switch to my offline list when looking for caches. This one took a few moments as I got sidetracked by an interesting item which I thought was possibly the cache
Found after a bit of searching with Campmotherandken - had us scratching our heads for a while then after a feed of yellow plums from a nearby tree we had a sugar rush & aha! TFTC
We were unable to find this cache on our previous visit by bike exactly 5 years ago on 17th February 2017. Today, walking, with emphasis on one item in the cache description it was a surprisingly quick easy find, although for us it was about 10 metres northeast of the coordinates. Our coordinates were S44 00.712 E171 14.878, with good accuracy. TFTC
Found with farmerkeith waitangi weekend. Decided to walk part of the gmbt. Description helped after re reading it and cache was an old favourite
*Another good find going from cache to cache with woolwood9.*

Perfect cache title - sums up exactly how I'm feeling which is mainly due to two strenuous walks yeserday. Time to turn back and leave the rest for another day. TFTC # 16,505
Found this a few days ago, unsure why I didn't log it then when zi found some others along this track. Thanks for the fun.
Great weekend caching with Hinemoana. We waited for the rain to stop, but quite wet underfoot.
A crazy caching weekend with KiwiGS! We picked this area because on the map it looked like a lot of easy caches. After lunch we went for the trail, and although it was not really 'mountain', it was rather overgrown and not maintained in many places, not quite the easy stroll we expected from the cache ratings and the online info about the trail, and we did not quite get as far with it as expected. We managed two of the three 'legs'. This one took ages. TFTC!!
Time for a bike ride today so we started at the Burdon Rd end of the track and headed off to see what we could get done. Took a bit longer here but we found it. tftc
After a cup of coffee, and buying some lunch supplies, it was time to check out of our accommodation and continue the GMTB series north of the Orari bridge. Track ranged from an easy and pleasant ride on pine needles through trees to some pretty rough terrain, where both my hands were needed on the handlebars to control the bike (which made navigating a bit tricky).
Again, we searched on the wrong side of the track, and were thinking too much about plums. Once in the right place, a quick find. Yep, I was plum tuckered out by now. TFTC.

JDScout and I decided to go Geraldine for the weekend and attend the event in the evening. We brought along our bikes so we could go cache cycling along the track.

This was weird. I was looking in the wrong spot...again...and found lots of empty alcohol bottles and a shoe, all half buried...may this is how far Mr F Bender got after his...
Found it 2 minutes later, I'm getting better at this.

By now we were plum tuckered out so decided to head for home. We really had trouble with this one and in the end I put the Montana in a certain spot so we could search with two hands and it was right where it was hidden. Duh!!! We'd have been better to not read the title nor the hint. It was definitely findable. Thanks M we'll be back for a few more. Hope the track improves.
Made use of the day off for a days caching around Orari and Geraldine. Started off in a light drizzle and headed North west with the plan of biking to Burdons Rd (The exercise), and cache on the return (the fun). Track was a bit hard going in places due to the loose gravel and was pretty stuffed b the time Burdons Road was reached. Sorry about the cut and paste but thanks for the series.
Phase one of the cycle leg of the caching trip to South Canterbury. Starting at Burdon Rd down the trail to the river and then bike back up Tripp Settlement Rd. Lovely day and really nice place to spend it - lots of cool caches too. Thanks.
Great day out caching in the area, lot of neat caches, and lots of walking. Many Thanks Bitsprayer
Out on this section of the trail this morning with Bitsprayer, cache soon located and signed after widening the search area. TFTC
Day 10 - of our (The Seagnoid, Toby, Zara, & myself) epic adventure - leaving Geraldine for Hanmer today, heading homewards. With 3/4 of the Geraldine cycle trail completed yesterday, we just cant leave without completing it. So lets get going - back on Jill today.
No plums today but snagged the cache here. Cheers

No fruit while we were here. I saw cherry trees, no plums.
Taybeedragon and I are cycling the trail and enjoying every minute of it. The weather gods turned on a nice day - an excellent day prior to the rigours of heading home after a week's geofesting in Oamaru.

Was the second spot I tried but no worries here. Tftc BCD. Just a few left along here now and it's all done.
GPS directed us to the fence line side but after five minutes without any success we decided to look at the other side of the track at the obvious spot. Even then it was hard to locate as the container was very well hidden. But finally, the cache was in our hands.
Checked today Still there sit and let the gps settle then see what turns up
Decided to have a day out. Found we are spoilt by the tracks for the A2O, my poor old bike is not designed for these looser rougher tracks, but we persevered and managed this top bit of the route. Weather ideal, not too hot and no wind. No luck with this either on the way up or on way back
Back in Geraldine to some more of the GMBT caches. This one plum tuckered me out too - gz was at the kiwianna detritis. Wondered around and read the logs and with the coords obviously being out by a bit, I decided my time could be better spent looking for another cache on the trail.
My one other DNF for the day, even after looking on both ways past, and probably almost an hour of looking. KM said it wasn't near the rubbish - which is where GZ is, which didn't help much at all. Without either reliable coordinates, or a useful clue, this was a bit frustrating.
We can we looked we left, we came back again, we found. Plenty of rubbish nearby, luckily not near the cache. Cheers.
A leave pass from Ms KR and Ms KM. Where do we go? Packed up bikes and bike >40k on the GMBT. Slightly stuffed at the end, but found most that we looked for, and a had a great day.
Thanks to the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

The leave passes for Karma Reprint and myself matched up, so onto our bikes to attempt to clean up the series in one day. 42km and 12ish hours later it's mostly done. First leg is the northern section in the drizzle. We had DNF'd this on the way up but couldn't leave it alone. There's heaps of Kiwi Trash / memoribilia hidden away around here but it's not near that. The description is enough to find it, it just takes a decent effort! Cheers
just a quick check after 2 Dnfs, happy to say cache still there well camouflaged but in the obvious place dropped in a tb I brought back from Africa
Despite an extensive search, we were unable to find this cache. We did find a couple of kiwi icons - a child's plastic sandal and an old boot. We note the cache size is given as small, but as a lot of the "small" G.M.B.T. caches we have found have been micros, we wonder if this was one of those? At least the plums were enjoyable.
Headed out with TG for a Mad Mission, was in need of an adventure. We had planned to head out this way to score some possible FTFs as there were nine still unlogged. We loaded up the bikes and headed into the setting sun on this lovely summer's evening. It took us an hour and forty odd mins to get to Burdon Road. We thought we'd check to see if the FTF was still available at the first one on the track. We were gutted that it had been found two days ago! We thought we get a lay of the land at the nearby cache on the riverbed. We were scored a FTF there! So we parked back up at the MTB track and proceeded down the river. We scored 16 caches and a handful of FTFs to boot. We biked 8kms or so and drove 305kms and got home at 12.30am. Great fun!
I think this one is a cherry, ah well doesn't really matter we scored a {FTF} here!!!
Thanks for the cache BrownscacheDiversBCD.

**FTF** with TheWanglers
Mad Monday Night Mission with TheWanglers. Earlier in the day we noticed that there were still 9 unlogged caches on this end of the trail.......what better destination we asked ourselves?! Loaded up bikes & lights and headed off into the evening. A fun night; 305km driven, 8km biked, a handful of caches including 4 FTFs. NICE!
Following these caches in reverse order hoping for a few FTFS on some as yet unlogged ones....Woohoo. Pleased to find that we were FTF here. Nice! Fantastic wee bikeride. Getting on dark now. All fund.
