We spend a few days in Sydney and enjoy the city with its unique sights, buildings and parks. We also search for and create caches, virtual and lab caches. Four ladies from Sweden (Tigertassen, ursus67, Lnganfans, pidjas) are visiting Australia. This day we took a long walk as the days before, more than 15 km. We mostly log as TULP.This was one of the places we visited.A big thank you to the CO for this cache.
Answers are sent to co for the 4 of us.D var det dags fr lite ventyr. Hlsningar frn Sverige, sdra Lappland Then it was time for a little adventure. The trip goes to Sydney in Australia and then on to Christchurch and Dunedin in New Zealand .On the trip are, Tigertassen, myself, ursus67, Lnganfans and Pidjas go, which means that we log under the common name "Tulp". The idea is that before we go home we should have visited a Megaevent, Geo Toroa. Greetings from Sweden, southern Lapland
We are four ladies from Sweden who are visiting Australia and New Zeeland We are logged as TULP This was one of the caches we found Thanks from Sweden
Four Swedish ladies walking around in Sydney looking for caches . This we found and a answer is send for all four . Thank you .
Over in Sydney for 10 days to visit one of our sons and to pick up a few caches. We were not far from here when I spotted this cache, so we changed direction and headed over as I find earthcaches particularly interesting. Thanks for setting this one up, answers sent to the CO ??
Quite an interesting stone on the building. For my not quite a cacher friend they could enjoy this also and while I was familiar with the term Xenolith, I have gained knowledge of Autolith now. Bisiting this EC brought us into an historic area of the CBD and we continued on to enjoy exploring the area. This morning we explored about Sydney CBD locally. Starting the day with the tram up to an Earthcache, a wander about the streets to include the botanic gardens, a bus ride and the museum. The Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the year exhibition was fabulous, plus a good look about in other exhibitions. Managed a few caches and a Virtual on the way, not a caching trip but nice to get a cache while passing an area. Thanks for your Cache!
Find#6267Nice hiding place Found with my fianc on a lovely evening Answers sent to CO Thanks for the cache
Most interesting earthcache - firstly, learning about this granite and its use in this building, and then studying the granites spots. Well be looking at more buildings in more detail in the future! TFTEC!
I really enjoy EarthCaches, but my weakness is getting around to writing them up and posting the find. This EC was no exception. I've now visited this site three times over several years. Each time I've inspected the walls, taken photos and made notes. Today, I'm finally getting around to answering the basic questions in order to log a find. Answers have been sent to the CO.We were in town for a visit to the Australian Museum. Now that the Metro runs all the way from the Hills into the CBD and beyond, it was our first excursion going further than the previous last stop at Chatswood. A very enjoyable 32-minute ride, station to station. We also made sure we attended the International Post Card Day Event at the GPO, albeit a very fleeting encounter to sign the log and say a few hellos. Then on to the museum via this EC.Thanks for the EC and the practical lesson in geology.
On our way to the Post card event. Travelled from Killara to Martin place on the Metro.Love what they have done. Thanks for pointing us to be observant as we walk.
Staying at the hotel right next door and after finding some reads nearby it certainly made it obvious to also get this (and also to avoid detection ) from the non geocachers I was travelling with for the weekend away. Great history and thanks for the lesson on this. Brilliant weather the entire time we were in Sydney. Thanks
Interesting info about this type of granite, including its origin. Good to observe it closely.Answers submitted to the CO.
TFTE. Spent 5 nights in Sydney and did a lot of walking sightseeing and doing Labs and getting caches. So many lovely old and new buildings around. I was visiting from the Hunter Valley with my husband for our wedding anniversary week.
So cool to learn more about rocks just by walking through the city, tftc! Answers semt to co.
Find Number 2900 found at 14:39. Today we found 4 caches, 0 Adventure Lab stages and had 0 DNFs. Had an afternoon to spare and had a walk round Sydney looking for some cachesWhat an interesting idea for an earthcache. It made me look at the building in a whole new light. Answers have been sent to the CO.Thanks rinsemesocks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.
Earthcaches make you look at what a building has been used to construct them. Interesting. Wazza9 has sent answers to CO. Thanks
TFTC,An interesting EarthCache. In the city to get specific caches to help with my personal challenge, visited trackables.
Answers sent to CO. Sydney like my hometown of Melbourne has fascinating architecture and this location is one the remarkable locations. tftc
Found on a big walk around Sydney whilst in town for professional development and a work function in Kings Cross the day (and night) before. A nice, simple earthcache that highlighted some very cool features of this building that I wouldn't normally notice. Nice and quiet around here this morning, too. Answers have been sent, let me know if there are any issues, TFTC!

Towards the end of our all-day geocaching outing with Graubunden a fortnight ago, we took photos here. Worn out so we didn't do answers straight away. On a frosty icy-chill wintery evening, we opted to do some GC puzzles and this Earthcache quiz. Enclosed is a photo of us standing far out from the observed constructed rock walls. And that's my 333 days of the longest geocaching streak along with the most recent slump of 33 days beforehand. TFTEC rinsemesocks
We both saw the old building's walls. Smooth. One of many Sydney offices. Fun getting different geocaches one warm Thursday. Geospouse SurdiVisio wrote the answers as the team of two. Thanks
Greetings from WalesAfter visiting the Eye at the Sky Tower we had lunch and then whilst the Boss and rest of the tribe decided to go shopping I was allowed to go caching for the afternoon.Getting dark now but the features on the rock were obvious enough. Answers sent to the CO so I hope they are OK. Thanks for this earth cache.
Thanks for placing this Earthcache. Once again I appreciate the COs who help us discover more about our surrounds and to learn more about not only the very ground we are on, but the buildings and structures that we use and inhabit daily.
Over from Perth for a long weekend and taking the opportunity to pick up a few local caches around work commitments. Managed to escape early evening and went for another walk around, guided by some target caches along the way Enjoyed pausing here to check out the spotty building. Answers on their way to the CO. Bisoutje and I have finally arrived way down other on what's for us almost the other side of the world. After 3 flights and many hours in the air we were very happy to have arrived in lovely Australia. Even though we were exhausted from our journey we took the time to go the inner city to do some exploring. The Australian people gave and the surroundings gave us so much energy that we quickly forgot how tired we were. We loved being surrounded by English politeness, American skylines and exotic palmtrees. We also passed this spotty dilemma where we took a few minutes to learn something about granite and the stones within. Or is it stones with granite around? .Answers are sent to the co.TFTC!
Tftc. Arrived in Australia yesterday and for our first full day here we decided to do a sightseeing walk through Hyde park, Botanical gardens, Mrs Macquaries chair, Opera house and back to the hotel via the shopping district. Along the way, we managed to find and log multiple caches. This was one of 'em.

Yesterday Laura and I flew from Melbourne and arrived incredibly smoothly to Sydney, our first time in the big city. We slept well and long, and woke up with a needing desire to explore the city. We had just this one full day to explore the city before we head out tomorrow, so we knew we had to make it count. After an unsuccessful tree climb nearby Hyde Park, we continued north towards the bridge, and while walking through the streets of downtown Sydney, we visited this building where we were able to quickly spot the granite facade and the treasures it was hiding. We managed to note down the information and send the answers, after which I drafted our log at 10:53 am, making this our 7115th overall find. I snapped a photo and returned the stash as we found it and we continued exploring the park and the city. Thank you rinsemesocks for your A spotty dilemma - Granite earthcache; we were glad to visit it and spice up our Saturday while down under in Australia for our spring break, visiting from slightly-distant Myanmar! For my own personal statistics; this is the thirty-sixth of 112 geocaches we visited down under while on spring break, excluding the 56 adventure lab caches we visited and 28 Waymarks visited. It was quite a long and exciting day for us, as we walked 21.17km throughout the city while visiting twenty-five stashes just this one day.
Sydney trip for Egyptian Exhibition Day 2. I spent the morning in the Egyptian Rames II & Pharaohs Gold exhibition at the Sydney Museum. They had some great stuff on display and there was more gold from different times than I expected given everything we hear about all the grave robbing in antiquity. Once I was finished there, it was time for a walk. I headed through Hyde Park and on down to Bennalong point to check out the Opera house. After a bit of lunch I went via Circular quay up into the Rocks where I saw some interesting excavations under new buildings. The track back to my accommodation was via a few back lane caches before it started to rain and I retired inside for the rest of the afternoon. It is great to see some geology in the details of a building. It was also interesting that it was not sandstone, as so many buildings here are. I have put together my answers and sent them off. It's my last day in Sydney and also Australia. Probably I should mention I've already been thinking about "next time" This was a quick stop between coffee and the ferries.Answers sent, tftc
Day 21 of our roadtrip in Australia. We're still in Sydney, so no road tripping, instead a lot of walking. There's so much to see here! And what we love so far, a lot of the caches have very precise hints, very tourist friendly. Today's plan is the Sydney Tower and the zoo, of course again with some caches in the mix. Solved this one after our visit of the Sydney Tower. Always interesting those EC in urban surroundings. Thanks and kind regards from Switzerland, Hinni&Simo
Out and about again, headed around Canberra for the MEGA. Super excited my first MEGA and heading over with 2 others from the Cockburn Crew. Today is we are out with a group from Western Australia and signing the log as WAC to save time and log space. This is 15503, hoping to clock over the 15,000 finds in the week in New South Wales and ACT.Thanks to rinsemesocks for the caches we found.OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024Head over to Australian Capital Territory for Capital GeoBash MEGA - Canberras first ever Mega Event. Cockburn Crew on tour to the Canberra Mega. Day 1 involved a bunch of caching around Sydney before making our way to Canberra for the Capital Geobash. We found a huge variety of caches, and its great to cache in new territory that we havent explored much in the past. Unlike our home state of Western Australia where we have found just about anything and everything.A beautiful day with great weather and even better company. Thank you to the local COs for a great day in and around this great country of ours.
Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra on Good Friday, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. Todays plan was to head to the inner west to knock off a few LGAs and undertake a cleanup of CBD caches, before shooting off to catch up with friends in the evening in North Sydney. I eyed off a few caches and LGAs to clean up in the process. If youre receiving this log, the chances are that todays mission was a success. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers rinsemesocks! Join us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!

Together with 36 other geocachers, the KiSt team undertook a very long trip to Australia ???? and New Zealand ???? for three weeks. On both the outward and return journeys, there was a stopover in Doha, the capital of Qatar ????.We experienced a great deal on this trip and gained many very different impressions of the two countries, their nature and their culture. Of course, the main focus was on visiting as many caches of as many different types as possible and also all accessible old cans. However, we also made sure to visit many special places of interest and to gain as comprehensive an impression as possible of nature and its flora and fauna. To save the logbooks, we usually signed in with our team name **Downunder24**. For "special" cans, however, we have not missed the opportunity to leave our nickname as well. This beautiful cache is now also one of our finds.Due to the large number of caches visited, it is unfortunately not possible for us to write an individual log for each can, which is why we would like to apologize to the owners for this collective log.We also met other cachers at some of the events and were able to share our experiences. Many thanks to the event owners!Of course we would like to thank all the owners for showing us the great locations, the sometimes tricky puzzles, exciting multis and wherigos, as well as the interesting virtuals and earth caches - TFTC!!!---In der Besetzung KiSt unternahmen wir zusammen mit 36 weiteren Geocachern fr drei Wochen eine sehr weite Reise nach Australien ???? und Neuseeland ????.

6 months ago, during a frenzy, we said to ourselves "why not going to the mega in Adelaide for the leapday". From scratch we moved on to preparing an 18-day project in Australia. Our objectives are simple, visit a small part of this immense continent while validating a few caches. There are so many caches (impossible to do everything) that we will select. Our plan will allow us to visit Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Mount Gambier and finish in Adelaide for the famous Mega.During our stay we will log PestiHoot for Pestinette and Blackhoot.Today, after my event in botanic parc, we visit the opera. It is beautifull. We are very enjoy by this visit. We are lucky, we were sheltered in the opera house at the start of the storm. We were well watered in the afternoon for the rest of our visits. Thanks to the caches we visited many sites evoking Australian culture and history. Thanks for the cache and the discovery of beautiful or original spots
Out and about to the Gardens after breakfast and grabbed a couple of options when passing. Good lesson here, I too have a zenolith themed EC, answers have been sent to the CO.Another early start to grab a few finds before breakfast, but nothing like the last few mornings so just a few Train themed Traditionals for my (modest) Sidetracked collection of finds. All was good and thanks to the CO for his finds today. Later we headed out together to the Botanical Gardens and grab a few modest number of finds. This is our last full day in Sydney, and it has been a thoroughly enjoyable and beautiful place to visit.
I came down to the city to do some caching today and stopped for this earthcache while I was here. There are some mighty tall buildings here and it was good to look at the detail in this one. Thanks for the cache rinsemesocks
I realized during my trip to Sydney that I had not solved an earth cache. It was getting dark, but this was my last evening in Sydney, so I figured I better grab this one as it was the closest to where I was staying. Answer sent. Thanks for the interesting geocache. Familiar with a lot of granite being from Northern Minnesota, USA originally but had not noticed any like this. I currently live in Joplin Missouri. So greetings and thanks for the Earth cache.

On a tourist trip in Australia we stay few days in Sydney. Thanks for the cache. Greetings from Finland.
since learning about the xenoliths and autoliths, i've seen them just about everywhere. a memorable one is outside the customs house. thanks for teaching me something new!
We arrived this morning aboard The Ovation Of The Seas Cruise Ship. It's our third (and last) "turn around day" as we wait to reboard for our final B2B cruise. Each time in Sydney we picked a brand-new area to explore, hike, and cache. The morning started out with a steady rain, but it didn't stop us from heading off in search of smilies. Fortunately, after a few hours the rain ended, the sun popped out, and the temperatures warmed up. Upon reaching GZ we made our observations and took a few pics. Our answers have been sent via the message system and we appreciate the CO developing this geological lesson. Thanks for adding to our adventures today, Nukeworker and Racquetball Girl, Arkansas, USA

One of two ECs found today. I really love the classical style skyscrapers of Sydney and this was no different. The sandstone ones are great, but this is also pretty good, even if it is granite.
The xenoliths were very easily identified even from afar, and funnily enough, I have an EC in Singapore where the composition of the parent and xenolith rock are reversed. Well, I guess it’s really a small world when it comes to geology and ECs. Thanks for this one!

As someone whose lived in Sydney for 8 years I really haven’t thoroughly checked out the city as much as I could have
This building is awesome, I love the nickname you’ve given it and I’ll probably call it the same! This was a nice easy earthcache and still I learnt tonnes from it! Thank you so much for placing it here! TFTC!

In Sydney for a few days on our tour of the east coast. Answers sent to the CO. Love these city earthcaches, really makes me appreciate cladding in a way I never thought possible! TFTC and greetings from West Yorkshire, UK.
Slightly out of my way but I can't resist an EC. This was an interesting but easy one. Well spotted! TFTC.
In Sydney for a child's sporting event (and having a bit of time free to cache) I wandered over to look at this cool site. It looked familiar - when I went to send the answers I realised I had sent them back in 2021 but not logged the cache!
Anyway, a great spot to discover so hidden geology.
Thanks, rinsemesocks!

Looking and planning for this coming Sunday, 21.07.2023, i note that i have not logged this cache from June. I checked my messages, and i did send my answers. Is this the good or bad end of town? Anyway, intersting spots i must say. Thanks for the Earth Cache.
Today StreetWalkerNZ and I are exploring the Botanic gardens, Opera House plus and quick revisit to The Rocks. Back in the CBD again, and we were passing near this earth cache, so stopped by for a look.
A very spotty dilemma, answers sent on behalf of SW and myself. I love the look and texture of this granite. TFTC.

#22796. It was just about the end of the caching day, but I noticed we were heading close to this one, so we diverted to it to complete the requirements (my navigation was a bit sub-optimal, and we had to loop around the block). Didn't take long to gather the info (which Troodles sent on behalf of us both) and after admiring the building, we continued on our way. TFTC.
In Sydney for a few days for work, so I wandered down the the harbour, and grabbed this nifty little earthcache on the way. Answers have been sent. TFTC rinsemesocks.
