TFTC found on a wet muddy cycle from the camp site to the falls. They look amazing. Our asses looked like we crapped our pants after the cycle
Love this place! Don’t miss the gorge! It’s almost as jaw dropping as the falls! It’s possible to fourby from here to koombooloomba dam! Great fun!
I visited the falls a while ago and was able to collect the answers but saved them until Earthcache day.

Visted this spectacular location on the earthcache weekend as a day trip from Charters Towers, collected the information and just sent it.
In 2019 Mr CNQ had started off towards Blencoe along Poison Lake Road near Greenvale, unfortunately that has a river crossing (Burdekin) so was abandon in favour of a souvenir trip to Undarra instead. Having done some more research on gravel roads of Charters Towers Regional Council area the following roads were taken. Turned off the bitumen road to Greenvale at Clarke River and followed the Mount Fox Road to Valley of Lagoons Road. Turned off Valley of Lagoons Road onto Wairuna Road and followed it to Cashmere Kirrima Road, which eventually leads to the Blencoe turnoff. Journey took over 5hrs from Charters and the roads were ok gravel and winding, actually quite a pleasant drive. Valley of Lagoons and Wairuna Roads have creek crossings that would be a problem in the wet season.
It is possible to follow Valley of Lagoons Road to Wairuna from turnoff on the Hann Highway an hour or so north of Greenvale, or come from Mt Garnet.
Short walk, collect info, photos brief snack and its past 2pm.... now to get out of here.
With fuel below half and despite carrying some top up fuel decided not to go back along Wairuna and Valley of Lagoons west to highway and Greenvale, instead went downhill on the Kirrima Range Road... It is probably easier going down than up, but Kirrima range road is slow, more winding, long and in poor condition. It took a long time to travel 47 km, but eventually made it back to the bitumen. Got fuel in Ingham and got back home before 8pm, whole day trip took over 11 hours... Trip just adds to the beating the 2wd 2006 Rodeo ute has copped this year in the name of caching.
The lookouts were really great and the campsites besides the creek looked nice and popular. Thanks for the adventure and the earthcache, ruzzelz.

11/10/20 15:42 One that had been on the radar for a while but I waited for an Earth Cache weekend to check it out. I got on the road late due to waiting for a guy to turn up to buy a tank filter . I really wondered what i let myself in for after getting to the Range sign and the road instantly turned into a goat track. Perseverance paid of and i enjoyed the drive through the rainforest. No way would i considered this on a mountain bike but judging by the speed that i came back at, i wouldn’t even do it on dirt bike. I came around one corner on the way out to see a Polaris or equivalent sliding sideways to get back over their own side of the road. I arrived and worked out the relevant information then checked out the falls in all its glory. Certainly worth coming out here to check out. A stunning series of cascades. Thanks for coming up all this way to point out this falls for the locals to drive up and check out. Much appreciated ruzzelz
Thanks for giving us a cache at this amazing waterfall. Cant believe this isnt more widely known, hidden here. Tftc
We camped at the near National campsite and walked to the waterfall. Garmins Australia map seems to be not really precise in this area, but it was still a relatively easy and very beautiful walk with plenty of wallabies. The walk takes about 45min per direction.
{*FTF*} Have had this one my my radar for some time, suggested an ANZAC day roadtrip from Townsville for a group FTF but got no takers for a free ride. Met up with M and S in Cardwell and set out in two cars. Next time I will insist on one vehicle only!
S was a more careful driver than me and it took us close to three hours to drive the wining road up the range.
A very scenic road, descent condition even if 4WD only. More than once I thought about CO pushing his mountain bike all the way here, what an effort!
Incident free we arrived at the lookout, collected Earthcache info and snapped a few pictures.
Awesome falls, the scale of the landscape was hard to grasp and the total lack of sighs of human activity were great too
I set out on the return drive first as S wanted to stop for a swim and I wanted to get back home in time for dinner. About an hour down the road, at my faster pace, my phone came to life, M and S had broken down at the lookout
Turned around and headed back the same road again. After 30 minutes I came to a spot with enough Telstra signal to call.
Came back to the find a broken suspension that I had no idea of how to fix.
S being the best mechanic of us got to work with my tools.
Quite soon two utes came down the road, the first in 2.5 hours sine I left! The guys proved to be qualified bush mechanics, using two jacks and some tie straps they had the suspension back in place, then a long scavenger hunt for a nut of the right thread to replace the one that had fallen off and caused the whole drama. Finally found one on the bullbar and we were good to go, even if slow
Slowly followed M&S all the way down for three hours to the main road and then onto Ingham.
Would have been faster if I had been on a mountainbike!
Thanks for a great cache and a surprise adventure
