Decide to head north today to get away from the miserable Wellington weather. Most of the day was reasonably warm, but occasional rain and strong winds. On the whole the containers were great (2 or 3 inside each other) with dry logs, but the locations were mostly "throw me down" locations with very poor parking (if any) and lots of lunatics in this area driving down side roads at 100km/h+ speeds. Nearly lost lid signing this one. T4TC
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I live full-time in our caravan travelling around NZ, visiting the places we want to visit & doing the things we want to do and fitting in a bit of Geocaching here & there currently down in Palmerston North for a few days or so went for a drive to clean-up some Challenge Caches & ended up having a wander around Sanson got ourselves a creamed horn at Vivs & nabbed this while here this ended up be an easy find, log completed & returned to its position pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN:LN:LS #5,831 for Us!
Perfect spot for a cache! It was mid-afternoon; the cafe was just closing so the parking area was quietening down, though the road was busy - end of school holiday traffic. Instant find by Mrs Wicm who hadn't read the hint - TFTC.
Drive from wellington to Auckland today And stopping each hour to find the nearest geocach. This is number 2.Thanks for placing this cach.
We checked on the cache today and there it was exactly as it should be! To make it even easier in this busy area we have expanded the hint information. So all is good to go. Just remember to be stealthy and quick.
Unfortunately this cache may have had its day - it seems to be in trouble again. We will check in the next couple of weeks or so when we can get here.
I think the cache is missing as looked where the descriptions said and no luck so I think it has been muggled lovely place for a pie and of course the famous cream puff
Coordinates changed from:S 40 12.978 E 175 25.133Coordinates changed to:S 40 12.976 E 175 25.134Distance from original: 13.0 feet or 4.0 meters. After finding today the cache had disappeared we have replaced it and checked the coordinates - hence this slight tweak.
This lovely autumn day definitely had to be used for some geocaching. We needed to do some maintenance on some of our caches near Sanson so after that decided to return home via Feilding and Colyton. Naturally a few new caches were in our sights more or less en route. This was our first maintenance stop and the cache was not to be found! So we have put in a replacement pretty exactly as the cache description states and have tweaked the coordinates slightly. Please be stealthy and ensure the cache is tucked securely back in place.
Thought we had spotted hiding spot very quickly but came up empty handed. There was a pill bottle lid on the ground at GZ so suspect muggled
Coordinates changed from:S 40 12.984 E 175 25.140Coordinates changed to:S 40 12.978 E 175 25.133Distance from original: 48.9 feet or 14.9 meters.Quite close to the original hide, and still on the same host, in the same way
We re-instated the cache today. It is still on the same host and the hint remains the same. All should be good to go again.
Update on the disablement here:We visited today and talked with the property owners. At present the Information Board which is integral to the cache cannot be accessed. However, within the next couple of weeks or so the owners hope to have moved it to its new site, which is actually not very far away from the original coordinates. Once that is done we can update and reinstate the cache, and all will be good to go again.
We need to disable this for a while as we've found out the host object area is currently a building site. Hopefully we'll be able to find a new site for the cache. This will be sorted in consultation with the property owners next time we're able to get there.
In the meantime DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FIND THE CACHE - IT IS NOT THERE.

A great place for a cache and many thanks for giving me a smiley for the challenge streak.Time now for a cream horn. Yum.
Matariki weekend and a team of us from BOP have ventured south for a caching weekend. The team consists of TNXPro, NZFlossy, McJandals and DavidsonClan. Logs signed as Team BOP.
Weather cold wet and windy but that won’t stop us on our mission.
Ngā mihi for the cache hides.

Coods were spot on. Added some more camo to hide this cache from extra muggles.

On our way out of Wanganui I filtered by favourite points to make a few finds as we head south.
I parked here to start the Multi backwards and made this find at the same time. A popular cafe.

This one was near a lab cache waypoint that we stopped for. If I had more time I would have explored the area more. I use to commute from Palmerston North to Martin for work 30 years ago. I can't remember whether I drove through Samson or not.

A quick find after stopping for the Adventure Lab here. Then just had to try a cream horn - yum. tftc
Easy find on my way to Whanganui for the Christmas BBQ event. Figured I'd stop here for a bite to eat too.
Out and about in Bulls/Sanson area seeing what caches area are around.
Yep, there are one or two, especially solved puzzles and any odd Trad.
Cheers for the cache.

Stopped by for a wonderCrean Horn & thought why not see if any caches around. Interesting information board that will help non li also & even some locals. Tf
Great little hide. Stopped to stretch my legs before heading back to New Plymouth. tftc
The power of advertising. I had been listening to the Magic radio a lot and the place near this cache was a sponsor so I had to kill one bird with two stones (hk saying!) and try the restaurant and find the cache. Would have never seen this sign if it weren't for the cache. TFTC,
Thanks for your amazing cache. I really appreciate the time you took to set up and maintain your caches.
What an awesome excuse to check out Viv's Kitchen. I must make sure it's still there every time I'm going past.
Cheers, Cympull.

Stopped for a quick bite at Viv’s Kitchen on our way northwards this afternoon. Discovered this cache was only a few metres away. Went after it before heading off again. A quick find. #5091. TFTC.
Driving through, so decided to quickly grab. It was very busy compared to when we were here last. A nice easy find. TFTC
A nice quick park and grab in the dark as I passed through this evening. TFTC # 18,248
My days of relieving at Bulls finishes tomorrow so making of most of the opportunity to bag some more caches. Tftc
In view of the DNF we checked on the cache when here today and found it had gone. The information board has been renewed and we assume the old cache went with the old board!
Anyway a new cache is in place exactly as before - a double pill bottle wedged in a little corner with a couple of stones.

Doing the multi and happened to walk close to this one so decided to gave a look.
After a lot of searching we could not locate it.

Ms_KR and I are off on a wee tour of the North Island. A day to drive from National Park to Palmerston North today, following the Whanganui river down from Pipiriki. The weather was great for caching, not too hot, cold, windy or wet!
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Got out the tweezers as it was suggested I would need them - didn’t as log was easily extracted from the pill bottle. I thought about buying a cone but decided not to . TFTC geodatum.
11.20am. Have been passed many times so it was time I came in. Went straight to it.
Thank you. David.

We were in the area today on a bit of a cache maintenance run so this was a good place to pull into for some refreshment and an opportunity to check this cache after the recent DNF.
Sadly, it was definitely missing from its hiding spot. We wondered if it had fallen down to the ground but couldn't find it nearby either. We had had it wedged with a couple of small rocks but they were gone too!
So, we have put in a replacement cache, tucked in and wedged with two small rocks. Please take care to return securely.
All good to go now

Logging as found with the generous permission of the CO. No 9966 for me. The cream horns looked tempting... but I resisted. TFTC
Been meaning to grab this cache for a while but every time I have passed the car park is chocker.
Today car park was pretty much empty so in for a quick stop where cache was quickly found, log signed and left as found.
Thanks for the placement of this cache geodatum.

Cream horns. Yum!!! I had a raspberry one today.
After a couple of nights in Taranaki catching up with family, Sanson was a good halfway point to stop for lunch on the way back to the Hutt Valley. While having lunch (it seemed to be at capacity in terms of customers numbers while we were there), I checked my GPSr and saw this cache was nearby. The description made me think it was very close to where I had parked the car - not that I had noticed the prominent feature.
When we were back at the car park, my thoughts were confirmed and I was able to easily make the find; helped by my car being where it was. It seemed somewhat ironic that my previous find yesterday was at Lake Ratapiko; a cache that the geodatum team had carried out some quality maintenance on to make life easier for subsequent finders such as me.

Heading off on holiday hooray! We had heard about the cream horns on Seven Sharp so decided we needed to try some out...yum! Neat cafe with a good play area for the kids. Cache was a nice quick find. TFTC
Sitting here eating my cream horn and looked at my map and what do you know!! Sauntered over reached around, signed the log and then sauntered back before my hubby had even blinked. TFTC
Today was a dot day and I've been trying to find a cache on as many of those as possible in 2020, though the lockdown spoilt that idea for a while. We had at long last got away for another trip in Barnaby, our almost annual pilgrimage to Taranaki for the garden festivals. And every time, without fail, that we drive through Sanson for any reason we stop at Viv's Kitchen so I can eat yet another cream horn. However, it wasn't until this trip that I bothered to look in advance to see if there was a cache nearby. Well what do you know, there is!
So after feasting on the cream horn (there will of course be another one in the offing on the journey home) I ducked out to the back of the car park to look for the cache. I'd read the description yesterday and reckoned I could find it without the Garmin. Very first place I groped I found the cache, so it was found within seconds. I took it back to Barnaby to undo the containers and sign the log, then popped it back in place. Many thanks geodatum for placing this cache next to my favourite café.

On the way back from orienteering in Santoft. Appreciated the easy pull in parking area. Very informative sign board! Great thanks. TFTC
Another dot day in need of elimination. I wanted an easy cache to find in this very strong wind after work and picked this. Though I thought the car park would be blocked it was still the afternoon and there was plenty of daylight. I parked in the next street and on walking in knew exactly where the cache would be.

Heading up to Whanganui today for the 20th anniversary community celebrations event. Collecting some smileys on the way. Great information board that you would probably miss if not for geocaching. Initially concerned as some maintenance has been done but cache was all safe. Thanks
Woohoo indeed!
The CO's "Winter Warmer VII (Manawatu)" Meet&Greet event today was a good opportunity to pick up some unfound stragglers in the area with SkyCraneKid (formally known as EtherBoy/EtherLad/EtherEtc) and a friend (PrincessFaery).
We're on the homeward straight now, but who can resist "just one more".
I was tempted to sample a cream horn from the nearby Kitchen, but decided that my waistline didn't need any cream encouragement to go with the lockdown enhancements...
Thanks for working to get this one back up and running.

Woohoo...Board and cache all in place again. Good things come to those who wait!

All good to go.
Just heard from the landowner. Poles are at the site, just awaiting post hole digger so they can be erected. Hope it’s very soon now.
We had things to do this morning between Marton and the Sanson area, so took the opportunity for a bit of a maintenance run too.
We called in here and spoke to the landowner who assured us we will be able to re-instate the cache once he gets the board up again.
It's been the Covid 19 situation that has messed everything up - first getting back on their feet again after the big blow to their business by the lockdown, and secondly getting lower priority work done. He needs a professional to drill the holes for the board's poles and had this booked just when everything locked down! Currently he has to wait while that person gets back from other work he is engaged in now. But hopefully, this is done within about a fortnight.
So watch this space. We will keep trying.

Checked with the landowner today. He has the re-erection of the noticeboard on his to-do list, but hadn't been able to work at the site during the lockdown, understandably. Hopefully the job is not too far away now as we move into Covid19 Alert Level 2 in a couple of days.
Can’t actually do anything about it until the Covid-19 threat has passed now. Will be onto it as soon as it’s safe to be out and about. Staying safe is what matters. ️
Had a chat with the landowner today. He has been very busy but definitely intends putting the Info. Board up again and is happy for us to put a cache back there. So we're to contact him about the start of April, when he expects all will be ready.
We visited the site this morning and talked to the new land owner. He is keen to have the cache re-instated and has promised to get that information board up again soon.
We're to ring him to check progress in a fortnight. Hopefully we'll then put in a new cache, pretty much as before.
NB. The land owner knew about our cache having been at the board when it was taken down of course, and had thought it had been officially dealt with as someone had brought it in to him and said they were taking it to Palmerston North!
As the CO we know nothing about this as no one has been in contact with us regarding having picked up our cache! Rather strange ... [?]

Thanks KiwiSilvester for letting us know the info board has been taken down and the area of the cache cleared, including the cache!
We’ll disable the cache for now til we decide what to do. We’ll see if the board is going up again perhaps.

Found GZ easily but unfortunately the sign has been removed from the ground and is leaning against a nearby fence. The only sign of the posts is 3 holes in the ground but no cache
