Mr. GeBakjes stays in the campervan, doing important stuff, like looking for a nice camping.I change my slippers for my hiking shoes for a climbe. I nailed it! Proud of course.Love trains and stations. Great hidingplace!
#12,938. I am heading up to Taranaki for the long weekend and driving up with two friends from work. We stopped here to do this one. Last time I was in Waverley I had injured my shoulder and was unable to climb up to access this one. Today my nimble friend shot up and had it located within 30 seconds. Signed the log and replaced as found. Thanks tmann421 for another cache with a view.
spent 6 great weeks in New Zealand with my The start was a bit bumpy (Cyclone Gabrielle) but then it got better and better. We travelled to both islands and discovered a lot. We photographed and filmed many beautiful things, but most of it stayed in our hearts.
Almost everywhere we stopped, a cache was already waiting for us. Most of the caches are well maintained and easy to find.
With mostly very nice weather, we saw a lot of this impressive island. In many places, caches were waiting for us, which were sometimes easy and sometimes difficult to find. This cache was also included and was successfully signed
We puzzled a lot in advance and the tours were well prepared
So this box was also well found.
now I have another on my personal cache card.
many thanks to [^] **tmann421** [^] for the effort and the cache and greetings from Germany

I wonder if this is named after Waverley station Edinburgh.
Certainly a bit of history here.

Wahoo! Finally found it. There's a lot of smashed glass around the tracks signed and returned to its place
Heading west so I could gather coords for the E174.xx longitude challenge, and this both filled in a minute and sounded interesting. Cool & quick find, thanks tmann421!
It's amazing what you'll do to find a cache!!! And what's worse, once on the ground and taking a photo I realised I'd popped it back in the wrong place and it could be seen from the ground!!! Back up I go .
Had to empty the car boot to find something to help with the climb to this one. Noticed the wasp nest but approached from the other side. Thanks tmann421 for the fun here, and bringing us to this photogenic spot.
No luck for me but I suspect I didn't get high enough after spotting the wasp nest - note they didn't actually seem to care I was there but I wasn't in the mood for a big climb without someone there to laugh if I fell.
I wasn't sure that I had what it takes to get to this cache. However, I got up to where I needed to be surprisingly easily. I then searched by feel only to see the cache at a lower level than I was expecting. Having since read some earlier logs, I think it wasn't where it should have been.
Stopped across the road at the cemetery cache and then seen that this cache was nearby so had to come over and get this one as well.

Tftc - nice quick easy stop - lucky for us the younger of our clan can get to the hint
Well I can see cache but not game to climb solo. I'll leave it for the younger ones. Note to self- include a ladder TOTT
Called by here and was all quiet so no problem performing a quick search and soon had the cache in hand. Interesting old mechanism. TFTC

With Kelly0 and the kids we explored the Waverley station. After discussing the merits of the winch and being stealthy

A nice quick find thanks, once the photogapher left the vacinity.
Ms_KR and I are on our annual pilgrimage to Auckland for our family Christmas. Today is Stratford to Whanganui. Please excuse the generic logs, there have been a few finds and they get muddled up sometimes.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Checked on cache - replaced container but a bit short of tape on the magnets, hope it is ok!
We are on a ten day road trip to Taranaki, The Forgotten Highway, Taumaranui, Ohakune and back home to Palmy. Along the way will be sightseeing, short mountain walks, museum visits, a rail cart journey and, of course, geocaching. Day 1 brought us to Hawera.
It was interesting for Mrs G to visit this old railway station because the last time she was here, and a very early memory of hers, was going to see the Royal train pass through during the Royal Tour of 1953! We caught only a fleeting view and wave from Prince Phillip.
There were no trains Royal or otherwise while we were here this morning - all was deserted - just as geocachers like it. Mr G braved the climb and passed the cache to Mrs G to do the signing while he made sure he held on safely. He thought the winch was an interesting piece of old engineering. TFTC

My wife and I along with Arcane Junior are heading up to New Plymouth for a concert tonight. Naturally we planned to do some geocaches along the way!
We soon located the spot where it would be. After reading the hint I thought this could be an issue however moments later the log was in hand. What a neat location.

Our first stop on a family day out geocaching. Luckily I brought my hubby along as he was needed to retrieve the cache for us. I love looking around old abandoned sites so thanks for bringing us here. Another good reason to stop here was my Mum was born in Waverley! TFTC
Stopped in here early this morning on our way to Whanganui....I spotted it first but wasn’t keen to clamber up today so my Dad did for us. SL and back up it went. TFTC
Finding the Cache
This one has been bugging me for quite some time now as I had spotted where it was a while back but was unable to get to it but this time I came prepared and this time I was able to easily retrieve the cache from its nesting place
The plan for the day
The plan is to get this cache by taking the necessary equipment I need to get to the cache this piece of equipment is not needed for all cachers as many will be able to retrieve the cache without the use of the equipment I brought
My goals towards project GC
All caches add towards badges but this one is filling in a missing dot on my calendar matrix badge. For those of you who do not know what Project GC is I suggest you go to the Project GC website and see if it is for you
Ewe-Jean Grey the Sheep in the Red Woolly Jumper
Ewe jean is my geocaching mascot who unlike me like her photo taken

Teamed up with Cats&Dragons, for an overnight mission down the West Coast focusing in and around Hawera. It's been awhile since we've done a trip like this and it was great to be out finding caches again. We left Hamilton at 7pm Friday night and returned midnight Saturday, with only a few hours of sleep needed we managed 116 finds for the trip. A big thanks to all the cache owners for their placements.
What a cool old relic. Had a think about the hint and then gained some height, got lucky and found it in the first place I looked. Thanks for the hide.

Very sad to dnf this one. My mum and I are vertically challenged so brought our step ladder along but aren't nimble enough to climb the winch itself to get the cache. If we were to try it again we'd need a proper ladder but as there's a new looking fence between the drive and the winch itself I felt very uncertain about trespassing.

i remember this railway station well as a kid ,nanna used to take us kids and catch the red railcar to new plymouth or whanganui from this station.
Although we were unable to spot the cache from the ground, once we gained a little altitude, it was a quick find by feel, although we have to wonder what the man who drove by and the workmen further along the road thought we were up to. TFTC
Stopped here on the way to New Plymouth this afternoon. Thanks to a good hint, a quick climb and find. Signed log, TFTC.
Turning a two hour drive into a whole day affair from Wanganui to New Plymouth! Cool hide, I am glad I made it up - and down! TFTC!!
Heading home after an enjoyable week working and caching around the Whanganui area. Quick detour and cache all fine. Thanks
Finally at Waverly. The Seagnoid did the climbing here to retrieve this one. He loves his climbing and monkeying about. Got this one tagged. cheers .
Day 3- Monday, 16 December. Wanganui to Hawera today.
The morning spent around Wanganui picking up a few more interesting caches before heading towards Hawera stopping off at most caches along the way after getting out of Wanganui.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are spending Christmas exploring Taranaki via geocaching. Its been an amazing 3 week adventure. Rattls BBQ was a great event, meeting many other cachers. But also managed to fit in a few more events, especially New Years Day celebrating the start of 2020. Lots of caches - over 500. Lots of cache maintenance. Lots and lots of kilometers. And lots of amazing places visited along our journey. Mt Taranaki remained elusive for much of our travels and the caches on it at the top. Loved Pukekura Park Night Lights Show and the the Wooden Mechanical toy exhibition at NP Info centre.

Thanks for the photo on the cache page! Now I remember this cache! (It was at the start of a three week holiday - it is now 4 weeks after the find that i am logging this).
Cache was found a bit higher than the cache description says, moved it back to the right high, which has the side effect of giving it more shelter. Gets a favourite from me. I like tree climbing caches and while this is not a tree climbing cache, yeah - it's a tree climbing cache. And I also love railway caches. Alas, this does not meet my standard for railway caches - complete lack of history of this site (see any of my railway hides), but it is still a railway cache. Gets a favourite.
Day three of Taybeedragon's and my big 3 week circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki. Today is Wanganui to Patea - it's going to be a slow trip!!
Highlights:
* 3 weeks, 536 caches
* Mt Taranaki had been removed for washing, which was a bit of a shame. Even after it had been returned we were only allowed to see it for it was less than half an hour a day.
* High percentage of caches with crappy coordinates
* Amazing Pukekura Park
* AMAZING Pukekura Park light show
* Pukeiti Gardens
* Lots of cache maintenance!

Planning for the [NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:
* 20 years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](https://coord.info/GC87777) - you won't want to miss it!

(# 5583). Decided to come up this way on a weekend jaunt from Wellington. The primary aim was to get some of the GeoTour caches. This one took longer than anticipated as it was higher than the hint height. One loves a climb and clamber. Everything in order. TFTC
Find number 642. After dropping off a German friend in Wanganui yesterday it was time to start to head towards home to Hamilton today and collect some caches along the way. I ended up in Hawera and collected 46 caches in doing so.
All quiet at GZ today. No trains were stopping. I searched for the cache without finding but once back on ground level I spotted it. Back up to sign. As I was doing so the door rattled in the wind and I thought that someone was opening it. Not so. Thank you for the placement.

Day 2 of Squirrel Nutcase and my road trip south, now from Whanganui back to Rotorua.
Mission completed with collecting TMGT caches, and as to day 1, great history.
Will have to come back at some stage as there are so many caches in area.
Thanks to cache owners for the cache placements. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... This weekend’s mission was about completing the North Island leg of the TMGT. It involved a fairly extensive road trip through the Wellington, Manawatu/Whanganui, and Taranaki regions. We also made a plan to pick up other caches along our driving route...
There was some banging and clashing as the neighbours got on with their chores. The railway was deserted which allowed for a quick ascent and find. Thanks tmann421 and TFTC.

I am now on my way to Wanganui, but I still have time to grab a few as I travel. I usually don't like to get these hides since I had my hip replacements, but I tried anyways and was no worse for the experience. One of the few logs I've seen that didn't already have a signature from tmann421. TFTC.

Cool place, but unfortunately I couldn't find the cache. Coordinates, hint and T rating make it quite clear where it should be, but...
Early morning climb here on my way to Hawera for a daffodil show. Last day of the Seven Day Streak challenge which popped up suddenly last Saturday. . Thanks tmann421 for the cache.
Stooped here back on our way. After a short climb and looking around spotted tech cache quite quickly. Interesting little lost place. TFTC. Sherlock Hood.
I'm from Switzerland and spend 4 months in New Zealand on vacation. Found this cache after a few minutes search, thanks.
Finally i was prepared for this cache while en route to Hawera area and i took the required article with me on back seat so i could retrieved this cache. Once in place it was easily spotted removed and signed then replaced with no muggles anywhere near.. i would dearly love to see rail on NZ become something instead of the poor cousin to road where the trucks just rip up our roads...
thank you for this little expedition

**This was 1 of 14 caches that was found by me on the 14th of 19 days in New Zealand.**
**Which also was the 67th of 75 days that my travels thru southeast Asia and Oceania would last.**
According to the hint the container was in the wrong location when I found it. So I replaced it so that it fitted better with the hint.
*During 19 days I traveled from Christchurch to Auckland in an SUV, that i also slept in during most of the nights. 5.956 km of driving did it take to visit the 351 caches that I have marked as found in c:geo.*
*Earthcaches was my main focus during the stay. And I manage to visit 106 of them. So New Zealand is right now the only country where earthcaches are my most found cache type .*

A little bit of tresspassing (.. or so the signs warning about us not to get close to the tracks say), I found this one quickly as well.. I pondered re-hiding at the correct hide, but the current hide seems appropriate too.. not too easy to spot

After scaling the hills over yonder at the cemetery I headed over to this quiet corner of Waverley. Parked near the platform and after scaling a new height in Naki caching the cache was soon in hand, signed, and replaced as found.

First full day in the area after arriving fairly late yesterday evening. I wanted to improve my spare Taranaki caches, have only found 3 in that area before and that was over 10 years ago -back in the day. So we decided to head out towards Waverley and grab a few and so it was. Got most we looked for and saw some interesting black-sand beaches too. Thanks to all the CO s for their hides.
I have had some holiday leave booked for a while now and we are heading North on the ferry, along with the Cache-Qai, and off to Rangitikei to visit our daughter, her partner and our son. First time this many members of the family have been together for a few years so should be good. The plan was half day in work followed by heading off after lunch, then arriving early evening in W(h)anganui to catch up with kids. We're on the North island for a week so there will sure to be some cache found whilst in the area. My Marlborough and Tsman finds have been inching slowly but surely towards my Manawatu/Rangitikei finds but this trip will be sure to redress tha balance again for a few more years I'm sure.

Too high, had to rely on Rickamortis, didn't feel safe doing this one. Thanks anyway.
Ambling our way home from Wanganui via the coast road for a change. Jeez tmann don’t be so cruel to arthritic old farts. Fortunately Mr S was able to hoist himself up and find the cache because for sure Mrs S would not have been able to. She was a bit worried about how he was going to get down again but he has obviously climbed more trees in his childhood than Mrs S.
Thanks tmann421 for the challenge.

Cool Spot we really enjoyed climbing this. Had never been here before. Our oldest daughter found it from down below. Thank you for the cool activity.

We parked up as close as we could get to GZ and climbed over the chain at the gate.
Having read some previous comments we knew what to expect and thought we could be in for a bit of a search. Actually we ended up going a little higher than needed but the cache was quickly spotted and passed down to Mrs Rattll to complete the formalities.
We didn't realise this old train station was here. A nice place for a cache, thanks tmann421

Juty Bug & I am on a geocaching road trip principally to find geocaches he hasn’t found, and by default I probably haven’t found. Stopped here as I had previously DNF’d it and JB hadn’t attempted it yet. He’s taller and found it. Nice to convert this blue face to a smiley. TFTC
I couldn't find it days after your Owner Maintenance. I mentioned it to Yeetrees at last night's event. He's looked today and it's definitely missing. So I guess it needs more maintenance.

It is in a different position than it was when Yeetrees found it and is not easily seen. You are best to feel for it and must have climbed up on the base first.
On a bit of a road trip but no luck for me despite climbing all over this fine specimen. Pleased it’s frozen solid with age and rust.
Checked and replaced the container. Please put back in the same place as it had shifted from where I put it quite a bit.
New fence which has been put up for some reason - you will need to go around or easy to climb through. Hope this is not now private property.

In the area once again but never been here always just a drive by, but an interesting area we knew exactky where to find the cache as we pulled up close to ground zero. It was a quick find yay for us. Thank you for placing a cache here cache was all good and placed back exactly where we found it. Signed the log tftc
YAY - as we couldnt find this one last time we were back (again in the dark) to try again, we looked at all the very large spiders that had come out of hiding and how big they were and that last time hubby climbed all over the thing there weren't that many or that big (I think they were he just didn't see them) so he carefully grabbed the cache while I laughed (I shouldnt cause they make me cry) and then handed to me to sign. thanks for the placment
Was on my way to Taranaki and seeing a few clients along the way as well as if time allowed I would pick up a few caches as well. I regularly stop in Waverley every time I head north and stop to meet a client.
After having a meeting I decided that it was a great chance to take a small detour and check this cache out and see it I could find at least 1 of the 2 remaining caches left in this area.
Decided that I would do the one that I thought that would have the least chance of being observed by muggles as I drove pass the Cemetery there were quite a few muggle cars parked in front of the entrance.
The drive to GZ was quite easy as I managed to chose the correct road and once near GZ I managed to turn around in the somewhat larger than I thought it would be. Managed to find a parking spot within a few metres of GZ and waited for a muggle across the track to leave then got out of my car and walked over to GZ.
Managed to spot the cache almost immediately, retrieved and returned to the car, signed and then replaced it back as found, thanks for placing this cache here and for bringing me to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (12400). Now its time to keep traveling North.

Heading home from Hawera and I remembered it was international geocaching day. Right I thought, what do we have in the area.
This one has lost its magnet at some point but was placed in such a way as to not need it. Quite a quick locate. Cheers.
