WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 161 - Moree to Gilgandra via Narrabri and Coonabarabran. Todays travel was all along the Newell highway, which I have traveled many times before. The new caches were mostly new iterations of the solar system rest stops. There was also a set of labs visiting the same locations, so that was a real bonus. I spent the night out the back of a pub in Gilgandra and was able to have a great night in the pub. One more full day of travel tomorrow to Cowra.I was aiming for Tooraweenah for the Labs there. I found myself passing this solved puzzle as I went, so I just had to stop and sign the log. #8178Day 1 of our back of Bourke road tripWere chasing LGAs from Coonamble to Kyogle this week, in the Dubbo region today finding whatever we can in warm conditions.Quick puzzle, quick find. ThanksThanks for the cache!
#8178Day 1 of our Northern/Western NSW Roadtrip.Newcastle -> Dubbo via 2 missing LGAs.A rainy start has eventuated to be a reasonable day, not too hot nor cold, perfect for caching. Some long drives but a lot of caches too! end of copy paste Quick solve at home and a quick find today. TNLN SLThanks for placing and maintaining this cache JACS Team
Long weekend off from work so we decided to go for a camping trip with some friends. Last day we took a detour to do some caching on our way home. We solved this on the go and luckily we were familiar with both steps so we had location solved in no time. Cache was found quickly too, thank you!
A straightforward find here after detouring off the Newell into Tooreweenah to do the AL there. I'm on my way to Brisbane to housesit for my sister for a couple of weeks and to spend some time with my mother. Instead of heading straight up the Pacific Highway, as I usually do, I'm making my way there via the Castlereagh and Newell Highways this time. Thanks for the hide JACS team.
Found during a road trip around Central NSW. Made a quick park and grab out of this previously solved puzzle. TFTC
We missed this one on our last trip through, but it was a nice quick find this time. Even re-did the puzzle to check we had the correct coordinates!Time to move on today as we head to the Warrambungles, caching on our way. Virtuals, puzzles, Earthcaches and some trads on an at times wet day, but not as cold as we have experienced in some recent times. It was an interesting day's travel with a variety of caches and some good things to see.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache JACS Team.**SKI Pair****
Reperio 13:29Day 5 of our tour of Tamworth/Armidale caching trip, and today, Master Vitruvius and I were able to focus on more of the caches closer to the Tamworth area, and then progressively head home to Orange. This one didnt take long to find once we were at GZ, and it was a lovely stop here. Gratias JACS TeamAs a well spent day brings happy sleep, a well spent life brings happy death - LDV
Well, for someone that has not bothered to do anything geocaching related for a while I seem to be going out of the way to do Mega events. This particular caching trip was the brainchild of the other participant in this little excursion, that being greencordial. I flew into Toowoomba this morning hoping that the car gremlins had departed (they hadnt, but were sorted with another quick mechanical visit) and we were on our ways to Canberra. Fingers crossed On our way Sheridan and company Thanks JACS Team for placing this Mystery for me to convert into a smilie
Nearly wanted to leave Ben on the side of the road at this cache. Greencordial asked BenM70 to do up a caching found template while she is doing the driving and Im doing duck all. Im actually just pressing the screen randomly like Im actually enthused to be doing this. Anyways, we are visiting the national capital to attend Grrencordial2nd mega as I got scared by Covid for Dayboro and didnt take the punt that Townsvilles coolest cachers BenM70 and burgo78 did. Thank you JACS Team for placing this cache for me to enjoy!
This was the first ever jigidi I solved. Before that I didnt even know this type of puzzle existed online. As I love a jigsaw, I had to make the find while staying in tooraweenah for a couple of nights.

We had solved this one in the lead up to our roadtrip, so a quick park and grab netted us a smiley today. Tftc and the puzzle JACS Team!
A loose plan was hatched for a 3-week road trip with RoamingHowie to explore locations in Country NSW wed not been to before and of course, find a cache here and there.DAY TWELVE: Last minute decision to head north, to the Warrumbungle National Park to check out the Dark Sky, via Gilgandra and Tooraweenah.Nice to finally convert this solved puzzle into a smiley. Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, JACS Team ~~
It was time for the traditional post Christmas road trip. The stockings were emptied of presents, feasts were devoured and great times were had with family and friends. Now to get away!Day 12: Time to leave Dubbo and head for the Warrumbungles and the Dark Sky site with some new LGAs to explore.A nice quick stop on the way up to the mountains Thanks JACS Team for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy. ----------------------------------------------------------The Ballarat GeoTour ends on 4 March 2024! Was driving by so it was an opportune time to do a check in. Cache is in good condition with plenty of room in the log book.
Another day another "county". Puzzle was solved prior to the road trip. Not too much of a detour off the main road to get to this. [^]
Catching up with late logs from our trip in SeptemberWe are heading up to Longreach for the last QOGM with The Drover, Geoturtle37 and Papi4506 naturally stopping to grab any caches that come on the map aiming to get as many LGA's as we can.We had solved this puzzle before leaving Melbourne so it was good to be able to pick up the cache. To save room in the log we signed PDGC (Papi Drove Geoturtle Crackers)Thanks for the cache
Travelling with Geoturtle37, Papi4506 and the Drovers, our aim is to attend QOGM and then head for the northern tip of this great country.Team Crackers had done the same for us yesterday as they did here. We all looked, when Mr Crackers decided to check opposite our GZ, he made a quick find. Thanks for placing the cache for us to find.
Team Crackers, The Drovers, Papi4506 and I all searched for this with no luck. Mr Crackers decided to look a little further afield and had the cache immediately. Thanks for placing this cache.

We have stopped here on our way home via Tamworth to allow all the country music festival visitors to move on.
What a cute little town with plenty of history.
Fast shearing and yabby races at the pub today for Australia day.! Then an Aussie pub lamb roast,

On the road again but i spent 15 minutes or so solving this puzzle a week ago so it was hopefully on the list. I found that I hadn't saved my solve so I had to redo the work last night. Definately have to make the find now.
It turned out to be an easy enough find, that is once I'd looked everywhere else. KtB eventually joined the search and thought I was dumb for taking so long.
Names in the log now, that's all that counts. Thanks to the Cache owner for the fun and of course for the adventure. Cheers!

No luck with this one. The checker tells us we have the coords correct, but we couldn't find it!
The puzzle was done some time ago , and today was the finish . the log was signed and replaced .We are heading for a trip to the west..... Thanks JACS Team..
Thanks for putting this one together. I cannot not remember how I solved this but I found it easy where it is hidden. All is good with this one
I looked everywhere except where it actually is! I saw a photo of the container and assumed that it might be magnetic…will try again before I leave this beautiful town.
On our trip from Brisbane to Tasmania we earmarked a couple of puzzle caches to find, this being one.
With all the recent rain about the nearby little creek was flowing pretty well.
We found the cache without any dramas.

It’s about time I began to head home after the Townsville mega, so I’ve ended up here. I spent way too much time trying to find this one! My gps wouldn’t settle, and I was on the wrong side of the road for a long time! I’m not saying the coordinates were out, as they simply wouldn’t settle! Of course, when I finally found it, I felt like slapping myself (but resisted), as I should have seen it far sooner!!! Thanks for the puzzles, the caches, the different to the usual finds JACS Team.

Road trip Day Two: Coonabarabran to Adelaide.
As many LGAs as possible!
Halfway through the day we found out we had to be back in time for something the following afternoon, resulting in a very long day!
Unknown of the day right here. Slight detour off the highway, find was fairly predictable, and that’s Gilgandra ticked off the list.
Thanks for an easy puzzle JACS Team.

After a week with family for Christmas, it is time for this Queenslander to head north. A few stops to break the drive - and having solved this one after noticing it on a previous trip with a familiar name, it was a quick find for me at GZ. Was waved at hello by passing coppers whilst doing the signing duty, but they kept going.
Thanks JACS Team for entertaining me at this location.

Day 8 of our journey for the CacheQld Mega at Dayboro, We had planned on taking a longer time to return home, but due to commitments at home we need to return and have our Covid test in Vic to meet those appointment times.
Today we travelled from Moree to Parkes, adding smileys along the journey.
This was our 5th for the day. I wasn't quick enough to solve jigsaw on my phone on the way up.

Starting to head north to Dayboro for the first Mega in Aus for over a year. Not sure if we will make it all the way as covid has started to rear its ugly head again. Chasing windmills, ALs, counties and Jasmers as we meander around the recent flood waters. Here we thought 2021 would be a bit more chilled than last year! Sigh. Thanks for putting out the cache and keeping all the fun alive. One side other side one side oh THERE it is lol. TFTF
Just what I like - jigsaws and nice easy finds.
A slight detour off the road on our way through to Dayboro.
Of course I chose the wrong side and Muggle Hubby the right one.
Thanks for double the pleasure.

TFTC. Just shy of three years ago we attempted this cache without any luck. We had not been back to this area since then. We are on our way to the Qld Mega and after sheltering from the rain at Eumungerie for a week , we were back on the road. This was a must stop for us. Pulled up on the side of the road and unlike three years ago we found the container and added our name to the log. It feels good converting a blue face to a smilie.

This cache has taken me over 6 years to turn it from unfound to a yellow smile, back in 2016, I was having a morning tea break here, and just had the feeling there should be a cache here, checked my GPSr and lo and behold there is one, but being a newbie, I did not check what type, so searched for about an hour, all over, under and around the buildings, even searched in the trees for it to be maybe hanging in one, NO LUCK, a couple years later, I am back here, and with a bit more knowledge, discovered it to be a puzzle cache, what do I do, DONT KNOW, so during 7 months of being in COVID lockdown, I solved over 400 puzzle caches, this being one of them, back here just before Christmas, and muggles everywhere, so another visit on way back from QLD, son wanted toilet break, and knowing what I now know, I have taken a little detour from highway, and FOUND this cache, Thanks for a very interesting addition to my list of finds, and your quickly found cache, JACS Team, it is in good condition, even dry after all the rain in this area
Having been swamped by rain last night at Dunedoo, we were heading for Coolah Tops. With the weather turning sour we went to Coonabarabran & TGG had a mystery cache solved 50km back towards Dubbo . You know how it is ... when you’re in the area ... so solved, found.... Next! Thanks
Did this puzzle ages ago in my lounge room in Brisbane. I usually drive to Mum's place in Tumut once a year so l stored the coords for next time. Muggle65 and l are on our way home from Mum's and decided to grab it. As we parked l nearly had heart failure as a branch fell out of the tree and landed on the car. Nothing a bit of car polish won't remove but it took a minute for me to recover. Cache found in perfect order. Thank you for a fun puzzle and the placement of this cache.

On our return drive from Canberra to Brisbane, we took a few days to make the trip and also took the far west route.
We decided to take this tourist Drive and noticed a puzzle Geocache sitting there waiting to be solved.
We pulled up the car at the nearby intersection, and with enough Internet in this country area sat and worked out the puzzle and within a short drive soon had the container in our hands.
Thanks JACS Team.

Before we left Adelaide on our epic trip Brad solved every jigsaw puzzle he could find in Australia. Well over 200 of them. All on the off chance we would pass near GZ for one or more.
Of course this one had an extra twist or 3.
But we are used to that.
Well today we did pass nearby this one, so we detoured off the highway to get a coffee and also this cache. In town the man in the cafe said his wife had banned him from touching the coffee machine so we could not have one. Okayyyy. Interesting business model.
We left.
So all we got was a cache.
We did recognise the logbook!

We saw some amazing views of the Warrumbungles, which we hope to explore tomorrow, and we really enjoyed finding every single cache, and having lunch in the pub in Tooraweenah. Thanks very much to the cache owners for placing them - once again we've been brought to a place we would never have known about were it not for geocaching.

Mad Mega/Ausmer 9x9 Mission....
I need 9 hidden month caches to finish my AUSmer challenges,
9 D/Ts to finish my fizzy grid but priority is going to the AUSmers.
It was a 4013 km trip from Brisbane to the Mega in Wooloongong.
5 states in 5 days(well one was a territory!) to finish off the AUSmers and a few other challenges....
Went through Qld, NSW, Victoria, a loop into South Australia then all the way back across to eastern Victoria for the last AUSmer, then up to the ACT and finally the Mega in Wooloongong. Phew!
This cache....
which CHALLENGE/ WHY?
solved puzzle,
LGA and distance from home challenges
leg stretch
Had solved this one a while ago but today was the first time I'd travelled this section of the Newell as a cacher. It was a quick detour off the highway to get this one so I got a few minutes upright from sitting behind the wheel as this was a looong driving day, about 1200+kms on this leg today.
Nice quick find and all was well here.

Heading off to do some more caching with ilook4geo. No problem in finding this cache as the road was very quiet, so it did not take very long to locate the container. Cache located we all spent some time collecting the considerable amount of abandoned cans and bottles for the recycling programme.

Dez (JezNDez), Lennondayz29 and I headed off this yesterday from Brisbane, making our leisurely way towards the Mega event in Queanbeyan. Our overnight stop last night was Moree, and after an early start continued our journey south. On a lovely fine and sunny autumn day, this was another of our geocaching stops.
The Bromanceketeers are currently involved in a monetary war - see who can collect the most value in CITOed cans and bottles from the vicinity of cache finds which are then casheding in at reverse vending machines. After locating the cache and signing the log, Dez, Lennondayz29 and I set about searching the side of the road and gathered a sizeable haul to add to the days collection. Sadly, during our CITO activities I managed to misplace my GPS and it was some time before I managed to retrace my steps and locate the GPS laying on the ground in the middle of the scrub. TFTC

Found by Mary and David at 1025. Completed the puzzle before we left home. Water in the creek and, judging by the debris and flattened vegetation, there has been a huge amount of water through here recently. The Garmins had us dancing from one side of the road to the other, but soon found the container. Our thanks to JACS Team.
Heading back to Tassie after picking up our son’s car from Brisbane. This was our second stop for the day.
